yo what's going on guys welcome back to another episode of Georgia Sports Nation we got some more Hawks and Braves content on the way for you guys today we're going to be discussing how the Hawks schedule has been released we're going to be looking at you know how can the Hawks get off to a good start can they take advantage of a little bit of a weaker schedule in their first couple weeks to begin the season and also some of the rough patches that'll be hitting the schedule later in the season we're also going to be discussing about the Hawks move to wave vid kreji who was gonna be in the running for a backup point guard until uh being released in the past few days so he's now they've requested waivers on him so he'll be a free agent entering this season for as for the Braves the Braves just finished a sweep of the New York Yankees and before that they took two three out of four in four days from the Mets so basically the Braves just own both New York baseball teams there so we'll see we'll be discussing both of those series and previewing the giant series which begins tonight with two former Braves jock Peterson and Luke Jackson coming back to town so without further Ado let's get into this a little bit of Hawk stock here so we know the Hawks wave Vic crazy now I personally thought that he was in line to be the backup point guard uh when we traded for Patty Mills a few weeks ago Adrian wojanowski reported that we would be able to or that the Hawks were possibly looking to move Patty Mills again trade him for the fourth time this summer in another deal but it doesn't look that that's going to happen Patty Mills and Kobe buffkin now are looking like both are looking like they're going to compete for that main backup point guard behind Trey young and then dejante Murray whenever they're staggered in the rotation for V to me I liked him I thought he was a true point guard you know at six foot seven he had great length Good Feet on the defensive end and he would never have a highlight play he would always make the correct play though he wasn't going to do anything out of his comfort zone and he reminded me a lot of Delon right honestly now Delon Wright when he was here he's definitely a better Defender than Veet but vit has more versatility on the offensive end and while he doesn't have that three-point shot that Delon Wright had he had a lot more ability to do on ball skills like paint penetration he has better handled than the lawn and also was able to create havoc in the uh in the passing Lanes like the lawn right on the defensive end so really I'm kind of shocked by this but after seeing the roster now we're at 15 guys that's the maximum amount of guys you're allowed to have entering the season so barring any more trades the Hawks roster looks to be set pretty much into going into training camp now we know we just got the regular season schedule and the preseason schedule was released a couple a couple weeks ago but the Hawks still have some question marks on the on this roster like Clint capela we've no we know that Clint capella has been on the trading block throughout this entire off season since the since the minute the Hawks got eliminated um by the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs this year or last year I should say Clint capella has been on the trading block now will he get traded I don't know I was I was of the thought that we'd see Clint capella traded before even John Collins but the front office definitely knew they had to trade John Collins they felt like they couldn't get enough value for him and they let him go now Clint capella in is in a similar situation they know they want to see what aneka Congo can do at that starting position if we go in to the season with Clint capella as the as the center on this roster I wonder if they reduce his minutes and give and the echo Congo more minutes even start on Yucca possibly because I think I've said this multiple multiple times on the show but I think now it's the best time to trade Clint capella because you've got a full year or two for his uh for his contract if you're trading him for to another team which gives them a boost in value plus you haven't seen that main regression from him yet clear capella is still a great send in this league definitely top 13 in my eyes and at the at the maximum so you've got a guy who's LED league on offensive rebounding last year ago King block shots and who's gonna get you a ton of rebounds and a great pick and roll partner so the Mavs have been the first team to look at when trading Clint capella so I wouldn't be shocked if he goes there but it's looking like there's not been a lot of traction lately in talks with the maps so I wouldn't be surprised now if we went into the season with Clint capella as our Center but I would be kind of I I will be curious as to how Quinn Snyder and the front office handle the rotation because both the front office and Quinn Steiner need to be talking about how they give minutes to an yaka Congo and Clint capella if they're both still in this roster a Congo is eligible for an extension after this season he's going to be playing first contract here and I think he's going to be getting in and around 18 million to 20 million a year maybe four four or five years so if you if you get if you get if he's getting that contract you need to see what he can do in near 30 minutes a night so in my opinion I do think we will see a Kang Wu get more minutes than click impeller this season even if he is still on the roster now the backup point guard position Patty Mills and Kobe buffkin obviously you know Patty Mills has been in the league for a while he's won a championship with the Spurs and he's a guy who will shoot the lights out from three but he won't play much defense and he's not going to be that playmaker that you need Off the Bench with with a point guard position but on the other hand Kobe buffkin just Pat fresh off his rookie season or fresh off his rookie debut and the summer league you've got a guy who's a combo guard more of a two than a one but he can shoot the three great great mid-range a good paint penetrator but for me it's the passing that really hasn't been there so we have now two points on two backup point guards on this roster who really don't provide the play making and the stability you'd like to see from a from a backup point guard generally in today's NBA so it'll be interesting to see how Quinn Snyder goes uh uh so it if he goes for either Kobe buffkin or he goes for Patty Mills or doesn't play them either and just doesn't play them at all and just goes to Shante Murray and Trey young because that's how Nate McMillan went a lot or went a lot last year especially in the middle of the season and I don't think that'll end up doing well towards the end of the season because dejante Murray you saw he was in top five of most minutes played throughout the entire year last year and I don't know if that that any that had anything to do with his play at the end of the year but I don't really think that's optimal because when you got your two stars playing such heavy minutes over any two-game season they will start they will start to to get a little bit tired so I'd like to see us put a backup point guard in there for at least you know eight seven eight minutes a game just to give them both a little rest so we'll see how that goes now getting to the schedule overview Hawk's schedule has been released let's take a look at how the schedule looks for the first 26 games of the season now if I pull up this screenshot here you'll see the first 10 games of the season opening night we go to Charlotte on the road and then the first home opener is Friday October 7th October 27th versus the New York Knicks always a great game when you have the Knicks coming into town or the Hawks go into Madison Square Garden so that'll be an interesting matchup but in the other eight remaining games in the first hand you've got Milwaukee Minnesota Washington New Orleans Oklahoma City and Orlando and then Miami to round out that last 10. so in my opinion this is a good time for the Hawks to get out to a good start last year we got out to a great start we we should have gone 5-0 on paper but we we started off seven and three to begin the season in our first ten and we thought the Hawks were destined for greatness that year unfortunately it things didn't go as well as they looked for the first 10 games but now you figure Charlotte Charlotte has to be a win I know last year we struggled against Charlotte Nick Richards killed us in a couple games they're gonna have a healthy lamella ball so Charlotte is going to be better than they were last year and we had trouble with them last year when they were injured so we've got to do a good job getting off on the right foot this season we've got Charlotte in New York those games are both winnable now Milwaukee's obviously on paper a better team than us but we always play in Milwaukee really well and we stand on the show multiple times the Hawks always seem to play the bucks with a different intensity even even be when they eliminated them in 20 in 2021 during the Eastern Conference Finals run you you had the Hawks taking the Bucks the eventual Champions to six games and if Trey young didn't step on Sean Wright's foot who would have known who would have known the outcome of that series when we were tied and the Hawks were up late in that third quarter but anyway I digress so Minnesota and Washington and New Orleans up next very winnable games then Oklahoma City Orlando and Miami to round out the final 10. so if you were to give a prediction what do you think would be what do you think the Hawks would go in their first 10 games that's that's what I want to hear you guys from the chat if any if y'all are listening that that'd be great so for in my opinion I think in an Ideal World the Hawks would go eight and two but we know we know on paper and especially in in the NBA that just doesn't happen and you figure the two losses will be to Milwaukee and possibly Miami but Oklahoma City Minnesota New York those those things that really come to mind aren't cakewalks the other games I think the Hawks should win so I think the Hawks go six and four maybe seven and three in their first ten games that would be my ideal start obviously eight and two would be just great but I think that's a little bit too much of an expectation to start uh especially when you want them to get off to a good start and you don't want to be let down too far if they don't get off to your ideal start by the way Atlanta man appreciate appreciate the Super Chat he says for Hawks for the Hawk School of trying to be a top six seed and make the second round it's fine CeCe is here because of his defense this should be CC's last year period yeah and I I do agree and I've said this multiple times but I really like Clint capella I really know what he brings to this team as far as defensively Rim protection transition defense and picking a great pick and roll partner on Lobster with Trey young especially but right now it seems it makes the most sense from a business standpoint to trade him just because of his value yes we will take a hit in rebounding and on Yucca with his def with his defense with his defensive prowess and what he showed last year I don't think we'd be taking that much of a step back defensively onyeka actually was top five in the League last year in post defense and while Clint capela is still uh a better a better help side Defender and just a more consistent rebounder I think you can I think the money you get from Trading capella and the value you get back for trading him which would in my opinion be a first round pick maybe top 14 protected and a guy that'll make your work to a guy that'll make your rotation from Dallas such as like Joss green or some or like Javale McGee who could be a great backup to onyeka if we trade him I think though I think that that will be more value than just giving clinkapella one more year because if we do give him one more year his value will decrease so I don't want to make it seem like I don't like clickapella I know what he brings to this team but I do think from an organizational standpoint and a value standpoint if you're Tony wrestler if you're Quinn Snyder and if your Landry fields I think that trading him now is the best thing for all three of us I would and then yeah six and four for the media outcome and seven seven to three is ideal yeah yeah six and four I because if you if you look at this real quick again the Thunder are good up and coming team don't forget they last year they made the playing and they now they now have Chad Holmgren he was out all of last season they're gonna have Chad Holmgren they're gonna have case and Wallace who was their rookie from Kentucky this season who's an amazing Defender and they already have shea guess Shay gilders Alexander excuse me Josh Giddy and Jalen Williams who had a great rookie season so uh Jalen Williams of Santa Clara the guard not Jalen Williams of Arkansas but they're they're on up young outcoming team so I can definitely see their game against the Hawks being rough too and all and as always Trey's gonna want to put on a show in that game he's going back to Oklahoma City you know where he was born so when he goes back to Oklahoma I expect Trey to have a really great game and the Hawks to pull out a win there now you see this asterisk by Orlando on Thursday November 9th that's actually the game that the Hawks are going to be playing Orlando in Mexico City so that'll be a really it will be interesting environment it's good I'm glad that Adam Silver in the NBA are making the game more Global because honestly you look at the stars in the game today and I've said this a couple times on the show now you've got Joelle embiid you've got Nicola Joker tianis Luca um all these guys they're they're they weren't born in the U.S and this game is getting more and more Global so it's it's really good that you know the stars are are able to the stars are able to come from not just not just you the us but other countries and you've got a exciting player like Trey young and Paolo bonquero two two young guys in this league going at it and obviously when I say young you know Trey by by now and you're sit going into year six he's he's not Young by NBA standards but his age he's still right he's real he's still relatively young obviously Paolo Vaquero coming off of her rookie of the year everybody's going to want to see how he performs in a sophomore season and how he avoids that uh so-called sophomore slump that you hear that phrase tossed around so it's going to be a great matchup Orlando did really well at the end of last season after after the All-Star break they were a top 10 team in the league as far as overall record so let's see I'm sure that game is going to be that game is going to be competitive because it's going to be in a neutral it's going to be in a neutral fan base I was you know two two teams in the Southeast going going to play in Mexico so it'll be interesting to see who who's pulling for the Hawks who's pulling for the magic and just overall a good atmosphere to see an another country get into the NBA action so I'm excited for that game especially what are your what are your thoughts on on the on the Hawks we want to play in Mexico because now we've seen the Hawks they um be the subject of playing overseas multiple years last year we saw the Hawks playing uh an Abu Dhabi in the preseason and during those preseason games the Hawks played so well Troy young played out of his mind in that game in both of those games down in Abu Dhabi against the bucks so that was pretty cool hopefully we can get a similar performance from Trey and the Hawks down to Mexico City but yeah with that let's now move on to a little bit of Brave stock so we know the Braves have been absolutely destroying the ball they've been hitting the cover off of it as far as home runs doubles singles you you any offensive category that you look at the Braves will be at or near the top Ops slugging percentage home runs doubles RBIs average I all of all these all of these categories you'll see the Braves near them and yeah I also wanted to I was I meant to point this out too loud man thank you for reminding me yeah it's it's so cool that they're doing that but it's not on national TV the Hawks only have five National TV games this year I think 10 if you include NBA TV but that's not if you count that as a national TV game I guess you can but not everybody has the NBA TV you got to pay your separate separate subscription for that so the Hawks only have five uh National TV games when it comes to either on ESPN ABC or TNT so that's that's the way we like it honestly we've had we've had games and Seasons where we've we've had no National TV games and we've had better years so we know Trey Young and the Hawks like and Clint capela especially too like to embrace that Underdog mentality so hopefully this gives them a let's like to fire under them excuse me to be able to get some things done and get a bit have a better season than last year when they were trying to make the playoffs I mean and as far as right now the East is wide open you you have the Celtics and box as your top two penciled in really you don't know what's going on with the 76ers right now will the will the Heat have a regular season like they did in the playoffs last year or they or they have another Heat regular season like they did last year finishing in the playing other than that you know you've got the Knicks you've got the Cavs the Raptors maybe but the Hawks are on paper and they lost red van Fleet the Hawks are significantly better than the Raptors who knows what pascalciakum is doing yet and with the Cavs and Knicks yes the Knicks the Knicks had a great season last year but on paper I'm taking the Hawks over the Knicks now the Cavs the Cavs I do think finished better than the hawk slash uh next year in the regular season so I'll put them in at three or four but I think after one one two and three which I'll put the Cavs at three four through six are wide open I think the Hawks could easily get a top five seed this year if they play up to their potential and we gave away so many games last year so I really think that it's possible that the Hawks achieve their goal at least in the regular season of getting that home field advantage uh for the at least the first playoff series at that 5c so yeah back to back to the Braves though they just finished a sweep of the New York Yankees and before that took three out of four from the Mets now a week ago we sat on this show talking about is the Braves rotation in trouble is do do did Alex anthopolis make a major mistake not being more aggressive and going after a starter we know he tried he said that on the broadcast a couple weeks ago but the prices were high and he felt like this Brave's team with Max freed and possibly Kyle Wright coming back they were going to be okay now the pirate series did not reflect that and fans were worried but since that pirate series since getting to New York and pitching against the Yankees back home the Braves rotation has pitched to a tune of a sub 1 era if you take out Yani chirino's six earned runs against the Mets that is insane you can go from having the second worst starters era post All-Star break the Pirates are the last or or the worst the Braves were the second horse uh on this show last Friday but now a sub 1 era since the since last week if you take out the six runs Allowed by Yana chirinos now I don't I don't know about you guys but I don't really want to see Yana chirinos make another start for the Braves I like the experiment it's better than the bullpen game for sure I just want to say that now but I think it may be time that we see Michael Soroka back up here instead of Torino's I want to see what he can do again um obviously yeah Torino's had a one really great start but uh overall the other ones they've been either really good or really bad not really any in between so hopefully hopefully he can pitch well this weekend because he's slated to start against one game against the Giants on Saturday I believe but uh Alex antopolis is continuing to roll with him so we'll see what we do but this Yankee series really it's it's pretty simple in in the first in the first game Nikki Lopez the story of his Braves Legacy continued this dude's a Braves legend he had the most RBIs through his first four games as a starter in the Braves in franchise history he continues to be insane Max breed allowed two runs in his first home start in over three months Nikki Lopez had three hits and three RBIs and the Braves just pummeled the Yankees 11-3 Eddie Rosario right now he's either really hot or really cold there's just snow in between Freddie Rosario he drove in four runs with three hits including a two-run homer and the Braves overall had 15 hits now Eddie Rosario in the third game accounted for all the runs that the Braves needed he had a two-run homer in the last game as when Charlie Morton struck out 10 and the Yankees got shut out so Eddie Rosario was just continuing to hit the ball out of the ballpark and uh Nikki Lopez now is going to have a more consistent role when Ozzy always went on the one on the IL a couple a couple days ago with a hamstring issue now since then he's gotten two starts to second base hits he hasn't gotten a hit but the defense is there and it's in it's been interesting because the Hawks I'm sorry not the Hawks the Braves called it Von Grissom now we know Von's glove is not where it needs to be as far as the major league level but Nikki Lopez glove is above average if he continues if he continues to slump when he's now over eight in his last two games I mean it's not a slump but if he if he slows down a little bit with the bat do you guys think Von Grissom gets more playing time over Nikki Lopez or do the Braves just automatically say your glove is better you're going to be playing more as we have OG truth going on us now oh gee how's it going but yeah so I'm just speaking about the Nikki Lopez versus Vaughn Grissom situation obviously the first four games is Nikki Lopez have gone extremely well now these last two games he's going over eight but the glove has been there do you want to see Von Grissom play over Nikki Lopez or would you rather them just uh Trot out Nikki Lopez more because of that defense uh and the veteran presence in his staff um whoever whoever they tried out there uh I'm fine with it it is not too many uh demands I can make uh when you when you when you 30 12 games over 500 at this stage of the season so you know um hey whatever they do I I I'll go with it all right so from Florida I mean yeah uh I mean Vons uh Barnes gloves is definitely a concern um I will say this though and second base it's less of a concern than shortstop we saw that last year when Aussie was hurt yeah shortstop definitely like a premier defensive position but second base you can be a little bit more lenient in my opinion if if Nikki Lopez goes on like an O for 16 streak or starts starts just not not hitting the ball at all then I'd like to see Von Grissom be in there but for I'd say for the next at least like two three games I'd like Nikki Lopez just be keeping getting out there because he the confidence is up first of all he knows he's going to get playing time if he hits because he knows his glove is better than Vaughn's so that's that's the way I see it yeah um again it's kind of it'd be kind of hard for me to have any complaints at all so um you know whoever whoever they put out there as long as they holding up the end of the market see the good thing about it is now it's kind of sort of like a in a in team uh yeah uh uh a a positional battle if a position on the team battle because whoever loses that battle probably won't make the playoff roster yeah does that make sense Ozzy should be back before or at least at least is on schedule to be back before the playoffs when our hamstrings but yeah yeah if it's my guess they go probably right right before the uh right before the end of the season they're probably okay uh um well you know what minor league seeds would be over with so they're just probably season ends probably around the early part of September so I don't know if he'll be ready to come back right there but if he if he's close to coming back they'll probably send him to or Rome or out in Mississippi to get some reps and and then they'll just call them back up or they just may just call them back up about a week before the end of the season let them get in some reps but nevertheless uh one of those guys when he come back one of those guys more than likely is gonna is going to get options give them that both of them so um I guess at this point um you kind of plan for your position on the team I mean because we already know but Ozzy gets back I mean what the deal gonna be exactly and if as we switch to more uh on the offensive side of the bowl the Braves scored more first inning runs this year I mean uh this series we know the Braves by Far and Away are the best first inning offense in baseball they're the best offense in baseball period but especially when it comes to the first inning now Austin Riley a homer in the first inning of in the first year uh game of this series in the second in the second game of the series you had Marcelo Zuna hit a ball 447 feet over the center field fence and he in the first inning so the Braves continued to just pound the ball in the first inning and that and Marcelo Zuna right now don't look now but he has the longest current hitting streak at 14 games so he's and he's batting over 300 in that stretch so he's really looking hit the ball for him right now it looks like a beach ball he knows he his all of his head back he just looks comfortable Mikey we're the owners yeah you know stayed on the ozone flight yeah I just might everybody way back looking like I think myself I think myself want to be here a little bit longer passes now will that help yeah I mean look man I mean you got a guy you know you got a confident V8 the guy we can give you who can give you 30 and 75 and 80. yeah I tell the guys marcelos hadn't forgot how to hit it you know so um it's a yes it's gonna be really good to see what what goes on moving forward when it comes to myself I can definitely see a scenario where let's say let's say the Braves go on and win a World Series Marcel's dinner is going to be a free agent the guys in the clubhouse love him we already know that I could definitely see him taking a pay cut to return to this team obviously with Marcel's off off the field struggles I don't think anybody's going to be prepared to offer him such a huge contract now the Braves that he's been with the Braves since the 2020 season I don't know I wonder if he would take a pay cut because right now 18 million dollars he's playing more than 18 million dollars for the majority of the season now the first two months have been they were awful but since then he's doing nothing but hit the ball so it's going to be interested to be interesting what happens with Marcel at the end of this at the end of this year now let's get to the pitching side of the bowl OG you said last week Charlie Morton's the stroke that he's the struggle stopper he's a slump Buster now in New York on the road he goes and pitches a scoreless outing but five innings I know what we're recapping the Yankee series but I want to go back to that because you were right after that performance the the Hawks the brave starters outside of Yani Torinos have pitched to a sub one era since that start you called it you called it I'll be trying to tell people man relax gracious relaxed man like see you know I'm a baseball guy so it's kind of you know it's kind of easier for me to understand but bruh like it's it's it's it's literally it's it's nearly it's 162 Game season man and them guys be out there literally for for about nine months that ain't life you know guys beyond that you know they'd be out there for nine months and they're like it's gonna happen um you're gonna have swamps you have pictures for us you don't have hidden spots and look even even Smith may go into a swamp as a matter you think you know make a couple crazy decisions and you know we may we may just go ape on them but right now you got a baseball team that's on a historic Pace uh uh as a shout out as a shout out my baseball baseball group the official home of the Braves on Facebook uh make sure everybody out there Facebook world make sure you like share subscribe um glad to have you on here but uh I think it's the Braves world's worth we might be I don't want to get too far ahead of myself but I think it was our world championship to lose uh of course you know it exists but right now they just existed you know I'm not I'm no longer scared of the Dodgers you know once upon a time I was I got I'll give you that but I'm no longer scheduled to die because I'm not afraid oh but um we know they're there and we know they probably want a piece of us after what happened the last time we faced him but what I'll say today is we owe them about three or four more because I thought you got enough I think with uh since early Freddie Freeman I think the Dodgers not beside the playoffs at least three times yeah it was well since 2018 it it's been it's been twice no because because you had you had one Ronaldo couldn't you hit that grand slam you obviously had the 2021 player uh sorry not 2021 2020 playoffs when we when we took the 3-1 and then you had did you have no no no and then you have when Juan Uribe hit that Homer uh in in the late and was at the mid was that the early 2000 teens when the one you rebate hit that Homer Homer against us before he played with us he he was with us in 2015 I think well um you thought about where Freddie Gonzalez left um foreign yeah yep yep when you left Craig Campbell in the bullpen and Craig's coming up and pissed another in it for us yeah so go figure so yeah we we definitely owed the Dodgers some Payback uh we had which you're gonna ask any coming off for the game tonight yeah the game game tonight is gonna be at 7 20. versus the Giants and we're going to be discussing that series uh in a couple minutes here once we get once we get past the discussion yeah I gotta do double duty tonight I gotta I I gotta do about I got I got a flip I gotta flip into my Falcons here we got uh we're doing I gotta do a pregame post game so all right and as the brave as the Braves if we go into the second game here the Yankee series the Braves did what they do they hit homers Acuna children Homer I mentioned before Ozuna do we run a home in the first inning that's all that's all they needed Bryce Elder seven scoreless innings vintage Bryce Elder performance if you want to stay vintage from a couple months ago but yep yeah the last two stars for Bryce has been much better I think I think here's the thing with Bryce Albert you cannot get too high or too low on Bryce Elder for the rest of this year because of this he's had he barely had a couple starts last year you know he had a taste of the majors in 2020. a little bit more last year and then this year is really where really where we've seen him get the ball every five days and be cemented into into that rotation this is the first series be had a consistent role in Major League Baseball and he's pitched to a tune of a sub 4 era he was an All-Star led the MLB and era for over half the season and yes he can had two three or four bad starts but then he throws a seven inning shutout uh and by the way this this game the Yankees only got one hit there's almost a no-hitter so just put to put that into perspective what price Elder is doing after just less than a year of full consistent MLB role you can't get too high or low on him you have to just stay the course with him because at this point I think he's got to get on that postseason roster which always pits this year postseason roster I mean because we had a couple of fast cars I mean they you know again man it's baseball you know I know people get a look get a little upset to get a little sideways when you tell them it's baseball but you know so so it is gonna have slumps man you know like I said get us have smoke pictures have I mean yeah he had two bats he had two to see the thing about it a picture swamp is more magnified because if you have always you know back-to-back band outings that means for at least two weeks so yeah because without with hitters there's there's eight other guys in the lineup starters if if you're a starting pitcher I mean there's only four other starters and it's basically on you only for the for the first few Innings to really get off to a good start there's it's much more much more room for air if you're in that if you're in that uh offensive lineup one through nine instead of taking a ball every five days so Bryce Elders turned it around since that since um I'm still trying to warm myself up to the uh I I think I said it I said it but before when I started the show but I think I think the experiment with uh Yana Chirino should should end after this weekend um we've got basically you shaved it down to a free man in the playoffs Three Men and you put everybody else everybody left to go with me at all maybe a fourth of course what do you go with right now in a playhouse if we had to go with three I'm going with I think I mean that third starter's the only question obviously I'm going with Max freed and Spencer Strider and it and that third and that third one if we only carried three I'm going Charlie Morton you gotta go Charlie man yep one of the best game seven pitchers in MLB history and you you've got you've just got he's got to be on that roster I don't care what you say he's had a great season I don't know why people think oh you know Charlie Martin might be cooked is washed he's he's had a good season he's he's had a better season this year than he had last year so yeah I think we'll have four hey if I was going into a game fight out here Charlie one with me oh Mr reliable yeah so that was game two pretty simple Braves hit two homers Acuna Ozuna and then Bryce Elder pitches the gym now and the third game of the series even simpler Eddie Rosario goes deep opposite field Ozuna hit a double Eddie Rosario home of the left Center then you then Charlie Moore takes care of the rest Charlie Moore pitched pitched an absolute gem 10 strikeouts and and with the shutout and only one walk this time so that's when you know you know Charlie's stuff is still there that curveball that old Uncle Charlie it is still sweeping like it like it's net like it's aging like fine wine so he can still he can still run it out there and get it get your 96 97 a couple times a game but when you really want Charlie more not his best he needs to be throwing that fastball a little bit more to get hitters off of his curveball he you know that curveball can get double digit strikeouts at some at some point you know he's good for maybe two three games when he a year when he gets 10 to 12 strikeouts but if he's throwing that fastball for strikes and that curveball is on it might be over for hitters that's the key with Charlie he loves to throw the curveball and he should but the fastball and John Smoltz said it on the broadcast you've got to be able to throw that fastballs for strikes to get the hitters off the curveball and that's exactly what Charlie Morton did against the Yankees I'm pretty sure nine out of his 10 strikeouts were off that curveball I don't remember the exact stat but he was either eight or nine out of the ten were off the curveball because he was able to throw the fastball for a strike and only walk one guy as long as that's the main thing with Charlie more walks just just throw strikes and yes he was able to wiggle his way out of a lot of trouble up in New York against the Mets but this star was the complete opposite he had control of everything everything was working now in these two in these two series the Braves outscored the two New York baseball teams 58 to 13 in six days that is a staggering statistic that just shows how the Braves offense like is on a it's just on a major run like they're close to the numbers they were putting up in June in August now with the offense I didn't think they could do it again have a month like they did in June but they're doing it again this is just incredible you know it just it's almost like uh a breath of Christianity New York team suffered oh yeah yeah and especially at the hands of my team so I mean I loved it in six days 58 to 13. and really we handed we handed that one game to him uh the Sunday night in New York and man you know those folks have been celebrating like that one game seven I'm a World Series right dude y'all way out of it y'all had to do a fire sale you sit up there and you had the highest paid highest payroll in baseball right am I correct or incorrect yeah the Mets yeah highest pair on baseball I don't remember I think it's the match though I love it yeah I love it and I know and I know this the Yankees this sweep puts them for the first time this year under 500. it doesn't it doesn't really look like they're gonna make the Wild Card even obviously they're not gonna win the with the East they at least with they've got they're looking up at the Red Sox the Rays the Blue Jays and the Orioles so no they're it's it's not a great year for the Yankees they've been injured but still it's always it's always good to see a big Market team like that if you're coming from a small Market team not really having that help not having that success well well we guess what though I don't yeah I don't yeah softball I listen up that was fourth grade especially in Atlanta fans I just don't like New York Los Angeles them cities too well I really don't Boston I really don't like them say this too well I I really hate them honestly there you go all right and as we get to tonight the brave starter series with the Giants San Francisco Giants are in town two former Braves coming into town right now Luke Jackson jock Peterson they're both going to be back so excited excited always good to see you guys uh from the one from the World Series winning team but business is business gotta win the series tonight great pitching matchup Spencer Strider versus an Alex Cobb that really has found the Fountain of Youth had a great year for the Giants so what can we expect from Spencer Strider tonight against the Giants team that doesn't really hit for a lot a lot of home runs but they do they do string together hits that's that's their main base of offense because you if if you look at the stat the statistics JD Davis oh sorry not JJ Davis Wilma Florence leads the Giants with 16 homers Matt Olson has 43 and for RBIs JD Davis leads with 56 Matt Olson has 107. so really this team just does it by committee what's the key for Spencer Strider to limiting a big inning tonight don't try to nibble um you hear a lot of pictures like that special power arms they get in trouble when they try to nibble hey you just gotta go with your script I mean you know it ain't like it ain't like now they don't it ain't lightning y'all the Dodgers lineup a Dodgers lineup of court you don't want to just walk that 98 plus whatever you pitch um the Dodgers gonna pass it but with these guys and scrapping real Scrappy okay you can't stream together okay if somebody get look a team like that somebody's gonna probably uh run into one hey you flush it and keep it pushing yeah that's and you've got Spencer strata obviously we know we know that strength is that is that fastball that deceptively fast fast ball even though it's fast on paper on the radar gun the hitters always say with his extension he gets off the mountain it pops up on him fast that's why he gets so many Lake streams on his basketball Wilma Flores can hit a fastball we know that we know that from his Mets days even on the days we're still the Giants he's a great basketball hitter so don't be surprised if Spencer Strada stays away from the fastball against Flores but if if he throws it to him just make sure it's just not down the middle or in or in his wheelhouse will Flores likes the ball down I'd like to see Spencer strotter keep that fastball up and in especially to him who's going to be looking for a basketball he's similar to a lot of ways in Ozuna because we know Zuna nobody can sneak up it's very rare you see a fastball sneak by Marcelo Zuni some of the Wilma Flores in uh he's similar to Azumi in that regard so for this Giants team against Spencer Strider they really don't have any experience Brandon Crawford has the most Brandon Crawford and Tyro Estrada have four and five at bats they're both three for four and three for five against them other than that nobody has four more than four bets so not really many expensive strategy is going to happen the advantage there as far as them not knowing much about him seeing about them seeing him before now on our other side our career against Alex Cobb Eddie Rosario seen Alex Cobb 12 12 times he's five for 12 with two homers against him baton four 17. Eddie Rosario has killed the Giants throughout his career if you look at his numbers they're insane so I'm looking hopefully I'm looking for Eddie Rosario to keep his hidden ways up because what he's hitting he's one of the hottest guys on the planet as far as just carrying your baseball team no one player can carry a baseball team we know that but when Eddie Rosario is on a run like he is now similar to when he caught fire in the series against Los Angeles in 2021 it's pretty much Unstoppable to stop this offense you've got one through nine you just killed Lopez even is is getting his hits as well [Music] because you kind of expect what the regular guys give you but when you get introduction like I've seen it I've seen a stat last week where I don't know uh seven eight nine oh winners were better than most teams one two three killers I mean it's crazy but I I think last year I was seven eight nine hole hit a little better than our one two three headers now I know it's not like that but um because I mean right now it's right now it's a three-horse race in MVP conversation and all of them so uh um and that's and that's Matt pretty and uh running that's gonna be an interesting interesting decision I think right now if he keeps playing the way he does Ronald's got him and he's putting up numbers nobody's ever done Metals Matt Olson's have an incredible year but people have done what he's done same with Freddie barakuna for me for me I think to catch Acuna both Freddy and Matt Olson have to just go on something like over 400 average and and hit hit like 15 more homers to to end to end this year to get where Ronnie is I I think it's farther than than you I think at least from from what you just said well I mean I mean you know not know he's gonna have the franchise record most likely franchise record he'd go he might he make threaten bars that'd be crazy like it doesn't happen if that happens then then it's gonna be way closer good God Almighty and and and he's doing it and he's not accused nevermind there's no controversy with him when we leave that I'm gonna put it like that yeah yeah he uh Matt Taylor so but yeah one one last thing I want to discuss about this giant series now we'll wrap it up now the Giants have their picture snaps pretty good you know Alex Cobb Logan Webb we're gonna see him I think so two two guys that really I hate because they're Sinker Ballers if you've seen me talk about baseball on the show you know I hate going against singer Ballers but what's the key what's the what's the key to taking them out of their game and putting putting the ball in your court against the secret baller be patient you gotta have some type of patience against a single problem um let him get your voice and let him pitch his way into trouble because most sprinkle bottles they're not throwing it straight they're not going to give you they're not going to give you a second bottle straight down the middle and you know because you those are the ones that get hit uh you know let the if you're going to never mode you know work the count a little bit if you see he's in a regular after about two or three innings then of course you want to change your approach and change your plan yeah for me the key to this for me to the key to this series overall is just have the lead late you don't want to go against this Giants Bullpen when they have a little late Camilo javal probably the best closer in baseball this year leads the league and leads the league and saves you don't want to be going against his 102 mile per hour Sinker in the ninth inning when you're down one or two that's that's good that's going to be key for me and also Tyler Rogers that that Rising slider that submarine pitch that that's gonna be a tough one two punch to deal with the eighth and Ninth Innings so get ahead try not to have try not to have the uh a big deficit in the late Innings because they have a tough Bullpen so that's going to be the key for me any other any other final thoughts before we wrap it up here OG more injury stay healthy and with that being said wasn't it right there thanks for tuning in guys tonight another episode of Georgia Sports Nation is on tap for next week Friday 6 p.m if you're on YouTube don't forget to like comment and subscribe and we'll see you guys next week peace
