here with our non-spoiler review today does this legacy sequel to The 1988 film deliver the goods or is it a major misfire for director Tim Burton we will discuss fully with Beetlejuice popping back up in our lives lunt's list will profile the filmography of actor Michael Keaton counting down what JN believes are his absolute best performances and pick your picture returns with a few rounds of fan last night the Kansas City Chiefs who you are a closet fan of defeated the Baltimore Ravens who you are also a closet fan of who else other than the Eagles and 49ers are you also a closet fan of so here's the thing oh gosh let me explain I ditch the Titans like a bad habit cuz they were a bad habit after that I I I became a Titan fan originally because of Steve McNair okay yeah okay where did Steve mcir go after the Titans he went to the Ravens to the Ravens so he was one of those I very much enjoyed watching play for the Ravens even though he left the Titans um obviously that had its in there Derrick Henry becomes a Titan okay cool I'm in like I kind of loosely follow them but Derrick Henry coming in definitely I was all about Vince Young he flopped pretty bad like there were other players they they brought in but Derrik Henry that's the one um um Dear Henry where did he go the Ravens it just you know and look we both enjoyed watching the Ravens back in the Joe Flaco days it was you know it's a team that players we enjoy have gone to therefore we still root for those players you still very much root for Joe Flaco I still very much root for Derrick Henry like I did Steve McNair and that's all I'm really doing every time Derrick Henry I mean Laur can tell you I was rooting for Derrick Henry last night but outside of that I didn't really care I do have Z flowers on my fantasy team so when he called past I like yeah a point and that was pretty much it the Chiefs my wife is the world's biggest Chiefs fan has been since day one of the relationship and of the Taylor Swift relationship you say relationship others say PR stunt what's the difference yeah um you know I don't really care I do because it makes my wife happy therefore I care about the Chiefs this is a very long answer the 49ers we went to a game on our honeymoon I have actually seen the 49ers more than any team in person because I have been to 49ers Titans as well was the first Titans game I went to was to see them play the 49ers when they both were awful and playing for one of the first draft picks I don't really care about the 49ers in all honesty um one of the biggest things was I like Dem Ryan when he was there he is now with the Texans I like seeing Alabama players have success but none more than Jaylen Herz who I have made it very public since he was at Alabama since he first set foot on campus in Tuscaloosa Jaylen Herz is my favorite Alabama player Jaylen Herz will be a better NFL player than than Tua will and I still stand by that and I say so far he has lived up to that cuz he has played for a Super Bowl I support jayen Herz through and through I so that team has many Alabama players on it like Devonte Smith Landon Dickerson and more so it just happens that there are a lot of Alabama players to support I'm supporting my alma Moder at the next level that is simply it but I don't really care who honestly who wins except for whoever I bet on and last night I bet on the under at 47 and a half and my bookie.ag and the total 47 because of that much of a toe of a toe so that's all I really cared about and okay Payday for me you ended up being a bigger winner than day P like Captain payday yeah I was uh Dave pornoy was uh not happy with that and watching that reaction was hysterical for some reason it's funny watching people who flaunt money lose money it is funny and Dave poroy is definitely one of those you know Klay Travis Dave poroy those people that have made a lot of money from their Sports ventur why people openly roote against me at the Poker Club I think I mean I guess even Laurel was like oh no that's disgusting yeah okay let's talk to the lovely Boy Wonder himself Mr Tyler Lionel Johns Tyler you were the very top pick on almost everyone's draft board earlier this week for the Meltdown tornado tag team trivia team selections that were compiled on Wednesday speaking on behalf of your team do you have any words for the reigning tag team champion Laurel Lunsford as we jump back into tag team competition this month uh get ready because John is here this time with a Vengeance he's he's out for blood this time oh wow you do realize that not your teammate right I like how that turned on me I mean yeah yes 100 that's what we saw during the draft I I don't know if you caught the the live show but um it it I didn't I mean me and pavick are good we're having a good time they should create a movie poster where it's the Electric Mayhem and then the tagline is John's out for vengeance it's like but that he's not on y'all's team I think Ty te should be the terrifi well that was an option that uh pavic had thrown out the ter ified lobsters because of my Lobster Adventures on Thursdays terrified trivia lobsters that that works there's a lot of different things we can work with there Laurel welcome in to this fun Friday it's not a fun Friday without Laurel Lansford you have seen the Wolfman teaser trailer that seen it yes yes I am very excited for this movie I know you would have been more excited had Ryan Gosling stayed with the production but instead I think he's a little too big for it now honestly yeah no no Ryan Gosling in this but we did see the teaser trailer Blum House I don't think so I really like the teaser trailer John got to watch me watch it in real time and I got to watch him watch it in real time and I was very excited yeah and then he showed me this photo from Horror Nights that looks bad it looks really bad it I'm kind of surprised I I've seen from Hollywood and I think Hollywood Horror Nights got all usually it's the exact opposite which which you would not think that but I feel like like Hollywood got all the good stuff this year and Florida is lacking a little bit but uh it was a little rough I'm I'm not going to lie I was it l like a Spirit Halloween costume no shade to Spirit Halloween but it it just looked like everything in Spirit Halloween is the cheap version of what the actual movie is yeah it's um it's pretty bad it's a really really rough look at The Wolf Man from that event however I do like the teaser trailer are you excited about the movie yeah I think it looks good I'm a wolf man fan Tyler have you seen the teaser trailer have you been able to watch it I have I have um are you in yeah I'm in uh love Julie Garner yeah Lee wiell is behind this yes who all and Insidious and did the new Invisible Man an invisible man well received what was the uh Visible man was solid what was the movie he did I actually somewhat liked it it was like this isn't it upgrade I was going to call it recharge for some reason only UPG up really sneakily good movie if you haven't seen upgrade that I that that's a Blum House movie too right it is it is that's one I avoid I feel like it's overly violent I don't want to watch it is it it is I also know that you've been excited this year Laurel to see the sequel to a movie you love in Beetle juu you've officially seen Beetlejuice Beetlejuice we've given our spoiler thoughts in a separate video that you can watch at your leisure go see the movie then watch our panel discussion me John and Tyler all giving our spoiler filled thoughts non-spoiler only today and I've got to ask you your non-spoiler thoughts on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice did it live up to your expectations I think so I think everyone you know I've seen the only really negatives I've seen is there's like there's too many characters which I can kind of see people's point with that and they're like this is nothing but fan service but I think that's what these movies are made for is for that's what Deadpool and Wolverine is it's fan service like it is doing it for the fans they are putting what the people have requested to see and they wanted more Beetle Juice and I feel like Michael Keaton is definitely in the movie more that's not really a spoiler but I think it I think it does and it's the Practical effects I think look so much better than all the CGI that we've been seeing the last couple of years and I could see it potentially getting nominated for some Oscars in that aspect with the all the I mean because that stuff takes the the makeup the the mus I thought the music was really good I yeah I enjoyed it yeah I really enjoyed this movie way more than I thought I would John we talked a little bit yesterday before arcade you went in a skeptic and you walked out a skeptic of whether or not you would enjoy it just not my cup of tea and Tyler's talking about seeing it potentially a second time this upcoming weekend so that is a possibility yeah um I went in with I think too high of an expectation I saw this one article I didn't read the headline because I didn't want to spoil spoil myself on the movie but it had it was just absolutely glowing reviews for Beetle Juice Beetlejuice saying this is Tim Burton going back to his true form you'll love it and so I think I set my expectations a little too high I hear you I got to give it a fresh watch it's not a perfect film by any measure but to me it is a blend at at its best it feels Deadpool and Wolverine is to me in that Michael Keaton is a character in this and Beetlejuice that's allowed to break the fourth wall much like a Deadpool is and that there are certain sequences in this movie that feel very much like sort of the in sync sequence that you get at the beginning of Deadpool and Wolverine where all of a sudden it just tonally decides we're going to do this thing we're going to do this bit and it's not you know it's going to be a little jarring but we're going to get away with it and it does so at its best it's Deadpool and Wolverine esque at its worst it's Ghostbusters Frozen Empire where it's trying to cross old and new generations and there's a lot of story lines and a villain that maybe isn't necessarily someone that you put a lot of stock I did not know that that is his his partner in real life yeah Monica beluchi right yes I did not know that and I think that's basically why she is he puts all of his he put Helen Bon McCarter in all his movies and he was actually uh married at one point to the one who is in Mars Attacks which we talked about on the R's list uh the one that goes to seduce um Martin Short yeah so there we go I he has a track record with this but the main thing is he has a track record of producing bank at the box office and that is why he has the creative freedom to put whoever he wants in his movies John you monitor the tracking for movies every week you sort of have a running list of how things are going to do I I've been seeing all week long this thing tracking to over a $100 million debut you were I think a little bit more on the fence of whether it could hit that number where are you right now because I think it's already generated $13 million in Thursday night previews going in I want to say everything I saw was like uh 65 to 80 which okay not you know not bad necessarily for a movie like that but I have seen now it's like okay well may make over 100 but I've also seen trying remember what it was there was something that we thought was going to be bad and ended up being good and it's like oh it's going to be good and then ended up being bad because every day ends up kind of going on like Thursday like oh Thursday was great the the hardcores were out there and then Friday's like well you know Friday for whatever reason reason may it wasn't as good oh Saturday all the Casual people would to go see it and it end up being good after all and then Sunday's like well not so much but it seems like it's about you know 100 getting to the 100 Mark I mean it wouldn't shock me if it gets to the 100 Mark and over a little bit yeah I I think it is going to perform very well my audience was very enthusiastic to see it y'all's was too and it's fall so I feel like people want to see scary movies they want to go to the Sea and because this is around the same time that I guess it came out and I think it's got this this has the second highest opening like of a Thursday night still number one by just a little bit but I people want to see that type of movie right now and when you say it's fall really in movie terms everything post Labor Day is considered to be part of the this is kicking off fall the way that something like furiosa was kicking off summer and I think this will obviously perform that's how Laurel thinks cuz the minute kickoff happened Saturday for the first week of college football she's like well Summer's over the pumpkins are out I was like you know technically it's not over till like the 21st of September we were still the triple digits for a little bit a couple of those days now it is stting it's getting crisp and cool and I'm starting to get those fall Vibes so I'm all about it John if you say way to Wellness three times then Leslie and her board certified team may not show up but b-roll of us visiting Leslie and her board certified team huge couple of days here for the sequel to The 1988 film Beetle Juice So it leads me to ask the question what roles has Katon absolutely crushed in his career and which of those performances left the biggest impact on John we find out now on L's [Music] [Applause] [Music] list what is this what is this this [Music] is is this long long don't all right John it's a I say very simple prompt here I'm sure we will find ways to maybe disagree about what should or shouldn't be included but the prompt is what are your five favorite Michael Keaton performances these aren't your five favorite Michael Keaton movies that is a very important distinction because those two lists will be very different these are five favorite Michael Keaton performances so Herby fully loaded is on the table for both um that was actually a genuine laugh I get rarely any of those anymore in this studio so thank you Laurel um that was another one Tyler that was one oh my gosh just keep pouring it in okay sorry go ahead John um and sing there are roles I I very much like that he has played definitely movies if I just did top five movies because he's done some good animated roles as well that would like I'm not going to count any of those really um a movie like Toy Story 3 where he plays Ken cars he's uh you know big roll in cars too so there there's there's multiple movies that obviously I very much like that would make my top five movies however when it just comes to rolls I came up with nine that I would say I overall enjoyed um and had to kind of Whittle it down to five and it was easy to do the top four I'd say and then it was tough kind of picking what that fifth one would be that snuck in there but I'll go ahead and jump in with number five sounds good let's make it happen should I write the RO or the movie you should write the here the odds for uh trivia of the six teams so no one can hear you right now but those are the odds no you're good those are the odds of the six teams you have PG which is pennet Grace the favorite at minus 110 you have CS which I'm calling Chicago spuds that's our team at plus 150 then you have the Electric Mayhem at plus 200 then you have uh that would be Jeff boom Jeff and Boer you know you know my letters better than me for tag teammate by the way uh then you have Reed and Ryan the double RS Reed Taylor and Ryan Brown at plus 600 and then you have Jim and Lance at plus 1,000 there we have it okay those are the official odds he doesn't have much confidence in the little kicks Laurel well I see what see Tyler's playing this smart he says why would I want to make an enemy out of lur when I can turn one of my competitors just got back to my good graces after he did kind of screw me over in the first in the first one but that's fine you did it was up to you we could have gotten those points with the whole thing but you said man I was just running the show and then Tim's like oh what what does Tyler think about this I just like how Tim says Tyler's taking out one of her her competitors it's like no taking out her husband and competitor and competitor I guess too yeah anyway I write should I write the movie or the role you should write the role in the movie oh God Save the Queen how you spell vulture uh v u l t r e let's hope that doesn't come up in trivia can I just I'm going to go ahead and be honest with this first pick um I love that this pick made the list this is the one that just got in over I love it made the list over a few others that I very much considered um Spider-Man homecoming would be the primary correct you can technically the universe since he is also in venom but or not Mor sorry um but uh probably it they'll probably be in venom venom cut scene um but you know Venom came over in the MCU for a hot second with the Multiverse and everything so it's all together um that was a train wreck but homecoming was very good I mean an in inredible twist when you find out that he's the girl's father I mean nobody saw it coming and the minute he opens that door when Peter Parker comes over it's like oh crap he's the dad uh Adrien tomb's his actual name it's just easier to write vulture up there because that's the super villain he plays but totally age also vulture not entirely in the wrong well that's what makes villains good like Thanos you know they came who where they to come up here we're talking about Thanos and another villain I asked yeah yesterday we uh talking about Thanos versus palatin palatin that's right we're playing Star Wars like you know the thing is if you have I think Thanos didn't have bad intentions with what he was doing now he kind of went crazy power hungry with how he was doing it but like through his daughter off a mountain I don't know but to try to save the greater good to try to save billions sacrifice one to save billions um which was the whole point you know to also kill bil where he came from what look where he came from mavan end justify the means correct where he came from where he was coming from originally wasn't that bad it ended up going down a very bad path and said instead of fixing the world and just giving everybody unlimited food with the gauntlet I'm going to kill half the universe with the gauntlet you know accomplishing the same thing just in a very much more Sinister way but I say all that to say vulture I think had you know some people behind him saying look I understand where you're coming from because the whole story is basically after New York he's out there harvesting things and the government comes in and you know with uh Tony and and the powers that be behind him pushing him out and basically taking his livelihood away and he ends up turning into a villain because of that I you understand it the fact that he ends up being Peter's you know one-time girlfriend because obviously he ends up going with Z but uh being her dad I mean there's a whole lot to it that you can appreciate from this role and he played it very well also we don't agree on a ton of stuff but the way that they were able to show vulture's motivation in a single scene and they didn't really have to continue to sort of move the audience along with catching them up on that they did it in a single scene that was riveting I thought was so good and the MCU they get crapped on all the time for not having memorable villains and you cannot point at this performance and this character arc on what is sort of a lower tier villain a lower tier Spider-Man villain in the grand scheme of things things the way they were able to elevate the character and Elevate the motivation and within a single Scene goes to show just how strongly that movie introduced us to Spider-Man in a way that brought us into his world compared to him joining the world of the MCU and how well Michael Keaton really encapsulated that baddy role when he had been in the superhero Universe known for playing good guys Spider-Man the three Spider-Man movies I didn't care about Mysterio specific but I did he also wasn't in the wrong I don't but I did like the storyline they built behind why he was doing what he was doing like I didn't necessarily care for him and obviously I'm not the biggest Jake Gyllenhaal person but like the I am the Tony aspect behind him too because because that's the thing it's all Tony Stark in all of this like you know Tony is seen as like the saint of everything but all this kind of has to do with Tony also because Tony made the the contract with the government to come make the cleanup and then Tony was the one that let you know screwed everybody out of the credit for his you know projection thing that he had I don't what was that civil what movie was that in that he had like all that in um was it civil war no I thought that was ingame no what are you talking about the one remember he had the projection we were talking to his parents oh no that was Civil War um you know cuz that's the whole thing you know remember he he screwed there all the ones that actually came up with it all remember taking credit for somebody else's work which is not very good happens um but you know and it it also brings I think it explains a lot about Tony Stark and it's part of why he's such a giant character and why him coming back and do every is such a big thing but I hope they keep that going the way they've done with these V because the third Superman's or excuse Spider-Man's a little different I need to clear my cash third Superman is also very different the the third Spider-Man's very different because it's bringing in you know Toby and Andrew Garfield and all their villains and everything but like I hope the fourth Spider-Man whatever route it goes does tie into doomsday then you still have that Tony connection with it because he Tony did a very good job of building up vulture like the the myth of Tony Stark did a good job making vulture what he was making myio what he was and I hope that still exists with Tony SL Doom moving forward with Robert Danny Jr but that's what made the villains stand out in the Spider-Man movies be very good was that storyline just getting to your point of talking about the memorable villains within Marvel yeah but then you also had to land the plane after you've been set up very well and I think Michael Keaton did a really good job with that there's really only one never mind there's two Spider-Man movies that come to mind that are looked at and I know that the image has changed of Spider-Man 3 now because that generation has grown up to somewhat appreciate it but Spider-Man 3 had really weak villains and Spider-Man The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had really weak villains and that's really what crumbled those two movies as being looked at as the worst the worst the franchise and this movie brought it back to a form of like whoa this is an alltime great great performance here from Katon and while I do think Jake Gyllenhaal is the best actor to have never won an Oscar that's currently in existence today I do like the turn of Michael Keaton from sort of good Blue Collar guy to villain More Than Jake Gyllenhaal's good white collar guy to villain that you see in the second movie see I like you because you you don't really see Jay Gyllenhaal's turn until kind of the end when he has to explain everything the bar scene yeah but that's not till towards the end you know but when once he gets the glasses and all that like this you see from the beginning it is very much about Michael Keaton and everything that he got screwed over with leading into the story and it starts with that as opposed to like oh that turns out this that that's their dad and you may know that's vulture why I wonder why he's so evil no you already know that by the time you get to that point and he did a good job of playing you know just doing his job to ultimately being evil and not dying so there's still a chance because once again he was in morbius for a hot second so there's a chance he could come back in kind of wondered if with the whole Spider-Man 3 angle they would bring him back in as somebody because he's been wondering about around the Multiverse supposedly based on the Sony universe so that's somebody they could have potentially brought in but they didn't do it is Sony still trying to make a Sinister 6 movie I think that they're giving up on it because like they like you would assume they are because you went with morbius one time you brought uh vulture into that Universe you got a Venom Trilogy now even though he's not sinister six and then you've got a craving the hunter movie this year is it Amy Pascal that's behind all that over at Sony like for people like that it's still here that like once one of these takes off venom has done okay but like once Craven takes off once Madam Webb takes off once uh borus takes off no I know but like they keep making them so like you keep hoping one of these is going to hit and Venom's been okay that then you could take Venom and that person and create you a Sinister Six let me tell you why I know for a fact six is not happening but like here on paper it ain't going to happen cuz when they go to promote movies like Craven the hunter they don't have in the trailer from the creators of morbius from the from the producers of Madam web they're from the minds that brought you madam web right from those that are slightly respected from the Venom you know S Series I it's just the fact they don't use any of their own IP to promote other IP tells me that they're not going to be doing a teamup movie Tyler that's the tell and that's also what hurt Spider-Man 3 speaking of Venom versus this they never called him Venom I didn't know who vulture really was until coming into this movie it's not that he didn't exist he very clearly existed and he's even in in the spiderverse movies now but like that's a not quite as popular Villain Like Venom is that then you and like Green Goblin is and all that that like oh he played this role really well to I want to know more about vulture I want to go look into that lore Spider-Man 3 took Venom which is the villain of Spider-Man and made it totally worthless no offense to for Grace but like totally worthless I agree there's only a handful of really standout Marvel villains throughout the MCU which is a tough thing to say considering it's been such a successful franchise but you've got to have vulture on the short list of best performances from villainous characters in the MCU Thanos obviously at the top right now and has not yet been Unearthed by Dr Doom it could happen yeah I mean konger probably up there than konger and like hel hel hel is my favorite she's good I'm trying to think if there's another like definit considered a villain no no I wouldn't consider a Villain Like I I'm trying to think if there's another shoe in that I would put in before somebody like vulture after those three I don't know CU defo is Green Goblin see now you can put Willam defo as Green Goblin in there um Dr Octopus oh yeah Alfred Molina all of those I'm not counting in terms of thinking like big picture Marvel because they very much were part of that one thing and you could say them again I don't know but they would be kind of like shoehorned in because not going to count Loki even cuz like do you count Loki absolutely a villain I mean I I'm almost thinking because he's had like a he was the main villain of the Avengers he was but Thanos was really the one telling him what to do and he's had a whole giant long Redemption Arc that it's like do I really count Loki in the grand scheme of the MCU if I'm not going to count Green Goblin do I count Loki absolutely count both of those L also is very much ahead of vulture but then vulture maybe fifth there let's move on to number four that was a very deep discussion here on number five so I'm glad that it made the list there's always more to talk about Marvel than absolutely all right number four of greatest Michael Keaton performances according to John Lunsford I have seen some leaks um not sure how accurate it is but uh the rumor is that Spider-Man 4 will take place between doomsday and Secret Wars I there was a dispute over whether it' be street level against the Kingpin or a another Multiverse movie God I'd love to see Kingpin I would I would too like come back to full form cuz what we got of Kingpin and Hawkeye was not the Kingpin that we got from the Daredevil series well the problem is I didn't see that you have to watch you have to watch Ekko Kingpin is back to form an Ekko but Ekko was not a show that people really cared to watch cuz she was in Hawkeye did a whole show hawkey I mean Kingpin is very much the bad guy that and he's back to Netflix Daredevil yeah kind because they tried to make that an adult show essentially and Daredevil is even in it I mean like Charlie Cox is even in it for a hot second but everybody's waiting for the Daredevil show to actually come out but I do hope all of the above I hope Daredevil and Kingpin are both involved with Spider-Man moving forward uh number four Spotlight um this would be number one on my list of movies that are Michael Keaton movies um really I'm actually surprised by that number two would be the movie you would assume would be uh first um but but overall Spotlight we both walked out of Spotlight and said so memorable for all intense purposes this is a perfect movie um and he was very good in I mean the whole cast the reason this isn't potentially number one or even number two is because the whole cast is so good they all lift each other up and that includes Rachel McAdams Mark Ruffalo there's a really good cast Leaf shriber there's a lot of good people in it but he is very good in it there's one scene in particular with him and Rachel McAdams where they go and confront um some of the people about it and he gives a good monologue there's really really good and um that whole story is a tough story to do and obviously to get completely right and I think Spotlight did a great job it won a bunch of awards for a reason um but Michael Keem was very very good in it as well Spotlight is a five out of five movie it's a perfect movie um if you've never seen Spotlight and you're in the mood for something that is more challenging than it is entertaining which is a discussion that we've been having here lately Spotlight is a just a perfect journalism procedural that I absolutely adore and really really love and can watch it almost once a year and get refreshed internally for the importance of telling the truth and how an important thing that is and when that gets lost you know at that point what are we really dealing with uh not only in this country but in the grand scheme of things and and it it goes to show the importance John of a medium that has been ravaged since we've come up the ranks in Media I think both of us at some point worked for a newspaper and both of us at some point saw ourselves maybe working in a newspaper type setting in the future and a movie like this almost does feel like a time capsule for how important on the ground gumo level journalism type what that does to change lives protect people from being victimized in the future I love Spotlight it's a movie that makes me weirdly emotional and I absolutely adore this movie so Spotlight number four obviously Michael Keaton playing one of the big bosses in that he's more of the content boss he's kind of the editor and Leo striber is kind of more like the owner of the paper and I will defend Le of shriber as being a tremendous actor even though he was in you know X-Men Origins Wolverine but I think he's Fant I actually like him as Victor killed off in Scream three he was killed off in Scream 3 in the opening and cotton weary is my favorite scream character of all time and Scream 3 did him no justice at all but he is I think also goon that's a really good movie if you guys haven't seen it hockey movie right yeah yeah with Stiffler with Shawn Williams yeah Scott Sean Williams Scott I think is his name Shawn Williams Scott yes anyway we're we're going all over the place but do you like the merrion candidate I like it I really like that movie but I watched it because it had Le of shriber in it I watch Hard Knocks not because they're teams that I care about because he is a wonderful narrator maybe the best it was great last year when they brought him to New York because the Jets wanted to meet I want to meet the voice like Aaron Rogers I want to meet the voice so he actually like came in it was actually on the show it was pretty good out of all the acting performances in Spotlight I do think Le of shriber is actually the one who gives the best performance and if you go back and watch it he's kind of like the one that has to be the steady calming Force I don't disagree it's initially the bad guy in the movie it's a smaller role because he's not actually doing like the stuff he's more of the one you come to the office after the fact but I do I wouldn't necessarily disagree with that I love Spotlight we could just do a Lunes list of five best Spotlight performances and that would be a good discussion anyway let's move on to number three on lunt's list of five best Michael Keaton performances so far a perfect list Batman gosh the perfect list got even better no you're good from Batman it's actually you can write from Batman and Batman Returns because he plays the same character in both movies say as Batman his performance as Batman um do you prefer him as Batman or Bruce Wayne I prer him as Bruce Wayne BR Bruce Wayne good lord I can't speak today um I think I like oh Steven says and the Flash oh yeah and the Flash probably the best performance in the flash I mean yes and Batgirl had it not been destroyed and Batgirl nice check um man he did say that anyway Batman it's pretty good um Katon is my favorite Batman he is is not my favorite Batman I do like him as Batman he is second for me I probably do like Christian Bale overall better um but I mean I I think and like Christian bal's Bruce Wayne kind of has that is it Patrick bamman from like American Psycho like he has that same look I know he's not out there murdering people but like yep but like he has that same kind of looked almost like that stock broker that young stock broker what you would see from Like a Wolf of Wall Street he does look very much like honestly I think the one that like Bruce Wayne Ben Affleck probably has the best look of how you would Envision how you would Envision and George Clooney are probably how you would Envision like a billionaire like you know person that has like a million girlfriends now like like now credit card you know the whole thing with the flash is B Batman has kind of become a recluse but like then when when George Clooney comes in for hot second at the end there it's like that's the old Bruce Wayne I imagine yeah yeah hot take we've never had a bad Batman ever Adam West was perfect for his time georgee listen to this George Clooney was a spoton Bruce Wayne yeah yeah yeah not a great not not an overall great Batman but he wasn't a bad Batman was a bad Batman movie would you change it to we've never had a bad Bruce Wayne I wouldn't I'd say we I'll take both I'll take both we've never had a bad Batman we've never had a bad Bruce Wayne it cuz like I don't look fondly on Batman and Robin in forever but it's not because of George Clinton and V CA I don't look but it's not because of Batman and like I don't look fondly on the DCU but it's not necessarily because of Ben Affleck like like I I brought I can't remember was yesterday or whatever I brought up like I don't know there's hardly because I brought up cyborg for something was that yesterday I brought up cyborg do you even remember yesterday it was it was off the air it was off the air we're talking about it um say I don't remember being at all well we talk a lot even off the year uh I forgot the name of that movie that you show me um Ray Fisher is about to be in a movie and so I brought up Cyborg and I was like look I think he was actually cast nickel boys the nickel boys that's it um it's because it it's him D digs from Hamilton has got people in it that that I like but like I brought him up and I was like he has only done Zack Snider stuff he was Cyborg he was in Batman v Superman because they showed a football scene of him playing football with Tom lugen bill in it then he was in obviously Justice League um and then the SN cut and then he was in Rebel Moon he's in the first he's in the two Rebel Moon movies he gets killed the first one but he does appear in the second one but I was like oh I like him as cyborg I like I like even Jason Mamo as Aquaman I like Henry caval as Superman I like Ben Affleck as Batman just the people Galo as Wonder Woman the people are fine everything else is very bad but like the people I thought fit the role really well to get to Ben Affleck I I think Ben Affleck fits the role well also but we keep getting away off Michael Keaton when it comes to the roles that he's playing but like he he is Batman to a lot of people because that's the first big screen Batman that you know we had you can go back to Adam West but people our age aren't a lot of times aren't going back to Adam West necessarily even though once he passed away and that became more of like an immortalized thing then yeah like and as a family guy person I think more of Adam West but like Michael to me Batman is Michael Keaton and people evolve from that like George cloney Val Kilmer had to evolve from that even Christian Bale even though it's a very different Batman had to evolve from that Ben Affleck is and Robert patson Laurel I know you know the story John I know you know the story Tyler I'm not sure you're fully aware of when they announced the casting of Michael Keaton as Batman how the entire world went up in Flames like it was the amount of anger and frustration and the right in campaign that people wrote letters saying you cannot do this to Batman you cannot make Michael Keaton Batman and it would be the biggest mistake in the history of cinematic casting like it was a huge full on the Press was against him I mean the people were angry and Tim Burton stuck with him so my question is what had they seen from Michael Keaton where they didn't want him to be Batman Mr Mom Mr Mom okay and then uh Beetle before Beetlejuice was one year before but the casting decision I'm not sure when it was announced in relation to Beetlejuice my other question would be um who were the uh other options that they were looking at there was um anybody notable I want to say gosh I don't want to throw out names that are wrong pull up old Wikipedia here Old Faithful I want to say there was some action star Sylvester Stallone this is what Wikipedia says so you don't have to hurt yourself parallel Superman a variety of Hollywood aists were considered for the role of Batman including Mel Gibson Kevin Cosner Charlie Sheen oh to be fair at the time I could kind of see Charlie Shane be I can see being Bruce way yeah he he fits the role Tom Cel Bill Murray Harrison Ford and Dennis quaade I don't like any of those as Batman I I could see Dennis Quaid potentially being the only one I could kind of see at that time Burton was pressured by Warner Brothers to cast an obvious action movie star and had approach Pierce broen but Pierce broen had no interest in playing a comic book character Keaton thank goodness made the landed the role and then was able to keep the role because if they had bowed to the public backlash it was truly something that was unprecedented with the amount of people that were trying to protect the character from going that route they really did think it was going to go more Adam West at that time there was Adam West fatigue for sure and Adam West wanted the role he wanted the role and it was like uh no uh buddy uh this the dancing it's this this isn't going to work this way but he F the movie version of him carrying the bomb down the but that's why it's really two things Burton stuck with him but also they could take the risk with Katon because they had Nicholson and when you have Nicholson there's a reason he gets top billing in that and there's a reason that he got such a good deal where he made money off of every Batman movie after that that's how good his deal was to be in that to get it across the finish line and Keaton's my favorite Batman Nicholson is my favorite Joker so 9 is so good the people who are also considered for joker as well so it says William defo was falsely reported to be considered for Joker but actually have been considered for Batman man I don't know if will defo back then would have been a good Batman or not um but for Joker a better Joker I mean that's been the fan casting for years especially everything that we've seen from him but uh considered for Joker were Tim Curry David Bowie John Lithgow Ray Leota and James Woods ra all considered I'm kind of surprised John Depp wasn't considered for that I could see him playing it maybe later on yeah as he like Jack Sparrow and all that it says Robin Williams lobbied hard for the part yeah Robin Williams was also like this fans dream of him getting one of these roles whether it be um Joker or Riddler you know some sort of zany character at the time but for sure um I think Tim Curry would have been a fantastic Batman villain at some point but not for that first movie that first movie needed the star power of Jack Nicholson to bring legitimacy to it and he knew it was going to be a moneymaking machine and guess what it turned into an absolute Juggernaut in the summer of ' 89 and if you live through it you know what I'm talking about they were Batman shirts everywhere Kim Basinger the girl that's in it yes yeah yes so back to the uh Jack Nicholson deal so does does Warner Brothers have to pay him out for Suicide Squad because Jared Leto's Joker here's the truth Tyler it's very murky on when that deal sort of started to come to an end oh okay so it wasn't in like perpetuity there's a chance he made money off a Robert patson's you know movie I'm not I'm not kidding I it was one of those deals where he was able to get percentages on future box office grosses of the Batman franchise and I don't know at what point that came to an end or anything but I would love to know that story and if you ever see something that says this is the actual detail of when that deal came to an end I would love to know I'll do some digging over the weekend brilliant business move by him let's move on to number two John number two on the list best Michael Keaton rolls Ray croc from the founder Steven's got Michael Keaton from the other guys which Michael Keaton is fantastic in that movie it's not a Lunes list unless John either drops a marker or EG steals one uh the captain from other other other guys was one of honorable mentions so funny he's very good in that no scrubs in your list come on you got to know that you're doing this thing um anyway founder Ray Croc very good role um I cannot believe this is number number two on your list why does not deserve to be number two over these other roles I thought he was very good in that I thought he played a good bad guy to be the main character but basically a bad guy in that I've said before I would love to see a movie from the brothers standpoint like them building McDonald's before Ray Croc shows up and then there's just Jim dunway at the end to steal everything from him and that's basic poor Laura D that's basically the end of end of the movie um I mean he's he's he's not a good guy in this movie with everything that he does but but I thought he played the role really well I like going back and watching clips of when he like first discovers McDonald's and everything like it's I thought it was pretty good I thought it was a really good role the movie itself would probably not made my top five but I thought he played the role well Michael Keaton had a Resurgence that ended up going through a string of movies and I feel like ended with this movie so because this movie was supposed to be an Oscar a true Oscar Contender and it just never amounted to any moment whatsoever so we know what my number one is it started with that you want to go ahead and write it and then went through I think the whole world knows your number one based on how much you talk about this movie so it went through from Birdman through uh here's just in order five movies yeah Birdman minions because he was one of the first voices and minions Spotlight the founder and then Spider-Man homecoming all five back to back to back to back to back and then Dumbo which we'll leave off all the Tim Burton list we'll leave off all the Michael Keaton list I liked Dumbo I'm in the minority there and then trial of Chicago 7 which I really liked that was an honorable mention as well did not like that movie it was a Netflix film is Beetlejuice at least an honorable mention I mean Beetle juu should be on this list absolutely my honorable mentions are Beetlejuice uh Captain Jean mock Mo I kind of don't remember how to pronounce his name from The Other Guys he was just Captain into everybody else uh Ramsey Clark he was us attorney general in Char Chicago 7 and Doug Kenny for multiplicity have you ever seen multiplicity oh yeah yes it has been forever since I've seen that movie I didn't want to include it on the list but he has to basically play multiple clones of himself clones that have and Mandell right the girl yeah that you know it's and Harold Ramis I think did the movie like it's a funny movie but I saw it when it came out it was like 96 97 something like that and I have not seen it since but I feel like he did very very good in that to play different role because the whole thing is like he clones himself then like the Clone clones himself and then like that clone clones himself to where they start like losing intelligence and like start having different issues with him and everything and he plays I thought he played multiple different roles very well in that but yes burman's number one I know you I want you to be thinking about this I know you kept Pixar movies off of the table here for this but would you say that you prefer his voice performance more in Toy Story 3 or cars uh Cars the movie Toy Story 3 is better than cars but in cars he plays the main kicks the main bad guy got in cars right yep chick kicks his rival that is he is he in I honestly cars three I think I honestly don't know he he is did anybody ever watch the RoboCop reboot with Michael Keaton in it I I've never been a Robocop person no I didn't either I skipped that one too other movies I like with him I had to think about it for a second but I think I saw judge a movie I don't think so no is there a movie called like first daughter there's one called first first daughter played President John Mackenzie and his daughter was it was Katie holes and it was right before she got with Tom Cruz wow he plays the president but he's like six billing in it so it must not actually no idea that much congratulations Laurel Crack the Code let's see I watched that movie worth it was a Netflix movie about getting settlements for families of 911 Stanley Tucci it's if you're looking for a pretty hard-hitting movie to commemorate that anniversary coming up worth on Netflix is um no pun intended worth your time um did anybody ever watch Knox goes away he he he directed that came out this year didn't it um it says 2023 I think it came on streaming here like yeah it actually didn't come out till March but he directed it guess it's his first directoral I don't I don't know if his first I can't can't tell um but it's also the first one I think where he actually uses his full name in it yeah where he's Mich Michael Douglas he's wanting to go back to that I did did he do it in in Beetlejuice he didn't do it in Beetlejuice they said that he like wasn't allowed to because of the way the cont like Michael like one Michael Douglas like under contract so he signed his Michael Keaton back in 1988 a three movie deal that just just now is getting like movie on it um I never saw Need for Speed it looked like a terrible video game adaptation but he was in that the one with Aaron Paul um um need to watch Jackie Brown I I don't know if you would like it because you're not a big Tarantino guy but it's probably the least Tarantino Taran one of these days I will watch all the Tarantino movies it just is not today um I've actually never seen Mr Mom either very good performance um I think ever see Jack Frost oh my gosh I forgot about Jack Frost I had no desire to ever see underrated holiday movie I I agree with you Tim it's good it was always one of my favorites even though it's it's pretty sad honestly it is really sad okay I know we talk about who has the greatest filmography of all time and all this stuff if you look at most versal filmographies Keaton is in the running he can play any type good guy bad guy loser badass I mean literally across the board if you want to get nuts let's get nuts with Michael Keaton and what he can do in versatility he can play Beetlejuice and he can play Bruce Wayne I mean I mean and I think he can play Bruce way he can play Batman don't don't you think that those are two of the biggest characters from the 90s that like like we grew up with like they did a skip when he hosted SNL a few years ago and the whole thing was like when he was doing his intro was like the cers came out like oh can we please play Batman can we please play Beetlejuice it's because that's what we all grew up with because those were such big movies yeah he's fantastic and I'm so happy he had that Resurgence and he's having a great run right now and I think he delivers in Beetlejuice Beetle Juice even the people who don't like the movie I don't think pinpoint his performance is something that's a weak point of it he's very strong in the movie and if you want Michael Keaton playing that role and that's your only thing that will satisfy you going into this movie that's that's your bare minimum of enjoyment he delivers in this role in this movie for sure adding on to the versatility I was I've had his filmography pulled up this whole time he also was the main character in Porco raso which is a studio jibli film about a pig that flies an airplane ji I'm out how more much more versatile can you get Tyler I'm actually gonna accept your argument because it just backs up my argument and that's excellent and of course we didn't even talk about Birdman hardly for that actually be number one that's true which is you talk about it all the time I do and it is his best role uh that he has ever done but he is very much playing a kind of fictionalized version of himself playing Batman right essentially in it um it's an incredible movie I do think it is very much help by an incredible cast around him Emma Stone is in it Ed Norton's in it Zack alakus plays a really good you know basically dramatic role in it um it's an incredible movie I highly recommend if you have not seen Birdman to watch it fun fact Zack alfanis played the Joker in Lego Batman Lego Batman he did so it's a small world but my bman would actually be my number two behind Spotlight in My overall movies Toy Story three cars and then the other guys would actually be fifth I actually really like the other guys he is a smaller character in it though than uh will frell and Mark wallberg but those looking for Multiverse Lunes list you just got one right there that is the other side of it all right it is now time for pick your picture very clear that I refused to see this movie because the marketing campaign has been so just in your face every freaking movie I'm seeing this trailer and I cannot stand seeing this trailer do I play the role of good husband and bring her to see this and bite the bullet yes I'm going to be miserable the entire I'm going to be honest as much as I hate the trailers I do think the second trailer is better than the first one that we were initially sh also a low bar it's a sequel trailer that's you have to have seen the first bad one to even understand it and the thing is like when we first saw like the new second one that's now been playing for weeks um I maybe months at this time I was like this actually looks more interesting like this has sold me to go see it but I had to see the first trailer first to understand anything about it we were recently in Nashville and I went to the bar Chiefs which is the bar I've wanted to go to it's pretty much new it's Eric Church's bar I'm a big Eric Church fan but I walk in and the bar stage is called cot ey Joe and I started to have flashbacks to speak no evil where it's like move your legs and he's throwing rolls at him move your Fe and then he gets up there and he starts moving his feet I I think she's like quit quit talking to my kid that way you need to go see it no Felicia yes no Tim I'm going to start getting upset no you're going yes and no at me thing is I really like James maoy and Mackenzie Davis and this is like ruining both of them for me I don't know which one I pick I hate the megalopolis stuff too and it looks so pretentious when I went to a movie about a week ago it nearly ruined my experience because after afterwards I walked out and someone else walked out they noticed the speak no evil post and they go that looks really good we'll have to see that and white in the car no don't I I I'm going to end up seeing this movie probably and I do not want to I'm going next Friday I've been on Rec I'll be there next Thursday y'all can both tell me all about it all right do not want to see it okay next one in theater a they're playing Transformers one oh in theater B they're playing the wild robot a wild believe there will probably be way more dancing in Joker fad do probably which one of these are you going to see right now at this very moment John Theater a or theater b h i want to see both of them thread and they both come out around the same time they're both anti-hero kind of movies I'm kind of surprised you didn't put smile too with this because I feel like guess he's not an anti-hero Joker but you know what I mean he's the the villain's the main character Laurel up next theater a smile 2 theater B terrifier 3 oh oh God this is pretty much what um I'm going small too I think the new trailer looks really good it looks very Joker to me I think the new poster have you seen the new poster I have it's very Smiley it does it not look very similar to like the Heath Ledger how they did it and have you seen the new trailer I did see the they like holding like her face that's very shock of the century Laurel go in with smile 2 over terrifier by myself I'm not going to see terrifier by myself she knows I ain't coming with her to see terrifier gotcha Tyler which one of those two are you seeing right now uh probably terrifier because I feel like even if I walk in the smile to I I'll still expect it to be trapped have you caught up on the terrifier and the smile movies to this point uh not not smile and I still need to see terrifier too come on tell we're running out of time here Laurel's so terrified of seeing this movie alone that she's like grabbing you by the shoulders you must catch up okay John you got to pick one the thing is you said we're going going in we're going to do this and they're all like H you're going to say terrifier and terrifier too and it's like I'm walking out the door this is close to that however I'm clearly not choosing terrifier I will choose smile and pretend I'm watching the second half of trap that's a great answer that's the answer I wanted cuz I know you were going to yell emergency exit here's the next one but emergency exit these are both sort of Comedy movies that also are playing to the same similar a little bit of an older taste crowd are you going with Wolves starring Brad Pit and George Clooney or Saturday night which one of those Saturday night Saturday night well that was a landslide wolfes looks awful it looks Terri it really does I don't know that it'll be awful but I don't care to go to a theater see it this is something that'll be on Apple pretty quickly they got paid like overpaid out the woo they've already green lit the SE oh wow they've already green the sequel which I feel like takes a lot of narrative purpose away from watching this one I'm assuming Plan B was the funding behind this I mean I I don't know Apple has plenty of chain to be able to do what they want to do and they've already green L the sequel this gets a one week limited run in theaters before ends up landing on Apple Plus yeah I'll watch on Apple Plus okay next up are you going in theater a to see Wicked or theater B to see Gladiator Gladiator Wicked okay so that was very passionate both ways here is this another situation which one will yall be seeing first as a couple Wicked or Gladiator see Wicked first honestly probably whichever tickets come out first but uh probably I would assume so this is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is that correct this is they released the same week there right on Thanksgiving holiday weekend um let's see November 22nd so it's actually the Friday before um I'd say the Thursday would be Wicked the Friday would be gladi year because no Thompson be playing you'll definitely and I just want to make it clear for those joining us here this is a barbin Heimer thing people are going Laurel and John are seeing both of these movies that's not the the the debate or discussion it's if you could only see one right now to sort of like which one are you more interested in basically for JN it's wicked for Laurel it's Gladiator 2 is Gladiator 2 actually going to be good I think it is I I think it has the I think it's potential to get I could see this this has Laurel written all over because she is all about Eddie she's all about Paul mcow and she's all about Pedro pascow and Denzel and then Denzel obviously is there to help round things out but I mean like she's all I mean everybody loves Denzel Washington I'm just saying like the three like hot names right now in the Lunsford household for actors outside of like the obvious like Ryan Gosling or something are those three it's going to be a moment it's going to be a moment yeah as much as you are Glenn pow she has she is with those three actors I don't really care future they're everything they're not cast they are being cast and everything especially Pedro but I'm just saying I mean yes do you go after they're both in the same her Trio as much as you go after Glenn Powell on a daily basis here on the Meltdown Live 2 Central 300 I like Pedro but the other two especially pal mcal yes you used to like Eddie still choosing Moana too based on where we are right now cuz this is a madeup story really off the liveaction L King which was pretty close to a shot for shot but like this is unique and this it's a unique prequel and I feel like they're changing things up with how we know the story and I know cuz like I get a whole debate about Mufasa and things that could potentially be wrong with it although the cast is great it's got most of the Lion King cast back because it's going to be kind of like storytelling and stuff so like Donald Glover's back Beyonce's Back Seth Rogan's Back Billy eer they're all still there but and I like Barry Jenkins I mean he had do have a giant filmography but I mean obviously has won has done a best picture before but I just would probably rather I think in the original Mufasa came from like a line of lion royalty or something and so he was always in line to run the pride and now he's like a stray that was adopted and then Wonder scar wants to do say J Fair makes more makes sense for Scar's motivation but doesn't really go with how CH be on Scar's side honestly never know okay these last three are actually my favorite cuz I I like the pairings final three here a lot of people aren't going to know this movie when I name it theater a is showing night [ __ ] and you're like oh man what could theater be have in it that I would a funny name is anybody like wanting to take this without knowing what the other option is no I I want to know what the other option is cuz I'm leaning theater B is craving the hunter oh night easy easy choice they should put it on the poster people prefer this over night [ __ ] has a guy from speak no evil at it it does scoop MC Nary night [ __ ] looks horrendous I'm sorry it looks awful awful I think there could be a little promise to it but the trailer doesn't do it any any favors I'll go with craving the hunter just to continue my run of just sitting through awful Spider-Man going to see the bad movie so we don't have to be honest I mean I had fun with Madam web when I said the theater a option youall all subliminally thought whatever's in theater B is what I'm going to go see and then you reverted back red one which is the rock Chris Evans Santa Claus movie or are you going to see Sonic 3 Sonic 3 oh 100% red one I'm going to say Sonic 3 yeah let's go red one looks awful that looks abysmal I just I just look at it and I think who is this movie made for like like what audience are they going for why was this made just all these questions are running through my head during the trailer 1,000% Tyler necessarily yes Jim Carrey has said that he is retired permanently unless it's another Sonic movie which is totally random but I love it I love it give me more Jim Carrey as robot don't remember when
