THE SARAH FIRE HAS SCORCHED AROUND 400 ACRES AND IS NOW 80% CONTAINED YOU CAN PROBABLY SEE SOME OF THE CHARRED LIKE HILLSIDE BEHIND ME HERE. THE FLAMES COMING CLOSE TO SEVERAL STRUCTURES, SEVERAL HOMES LUCKILY, NO HOMES WERE LOST AS A RESULT, BUT TAKE A LOOK AT SOME VIDEO FROM EARLIER HERE THIS YEAR A FIRE AGAIN STARTED JUST BEFORE 3 O'CLOCK THIS AFTERNOON. RESIDENTS HERE IN FONTANA REPORTED SEEING FLAMES. THE VEGETATION FIRE BEGAN JUST EAST OF SIERRA AVENUE SOUTH OF HER GROUP AVENUE THE WINDS HELPED THE FIRE SPREAD RAPIDLY EXPANDING TO THE EAST OF THE HILLSIDE AROUND 200 FIRE PERSONNEL RESPONDED. AND I'M TOLD THAT 2 FIREFIGHTERS WERE INJURED IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS, THEY SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND WERE TREATED AT NEARBY HOSPITALS NOW THEY'RE EXPECTED TO BE OK BUT AS YOU CAN IMAGINE SOME 10 SCARY MOMENTS FOR RESIDENTS AS THE FLAMES AND SMOKE CAME TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT. NO HOMES WERE EVACUATED AT THE HEIGHT OF THIS FIRE OFFICIALS SAY THIS SHOULD SERVE AS A WAKE-UP CALL TO EVERYONE AS WE APPROACH THE 4TH OF JULY HOLIDAY AND FIREWORKS GET INTO THE MIX ADDING TO THE HEAT DANGER WITH THESE RISING TEMPERATURES. YET ANOTHER INCIDENT. >> SIMILAR TO WHAT WE'VE SEEN THROUGHOUT THE REGION OVER THE PAST MONTH. AFTER A VERY HEALTHY RAINY SEASON WE'VE SEEN A ROBUST GRASS CROP. WITH THE RETURN OF SUMMERTIME TEMPERATURES. THAT GRASS CROP IS GROWN OUT DRIED OUT AND FINALLY HERE. VERY RECEPTIVE TO SO ANYTIME YOU HAVE THAT DRY VEGETATION A SLOPE AND A LITTLE BIT OF WIND WE GET THESE RAPIDLY GROWING FIRES MUCH LIKE WE'VE SEEN HERE TODAY. >> EARLIER TODAY, FIREFIGHTERS BATTLED A SMALL BRUSH FIRE IN CASS TAKE THE BLAZE BROKE OUT JUST AFTER 1230 NEAR CAPRI COURT AND BARCELONA ROAD. THE FIRE GREW TO 22 ACRES LEADING INTO 4 HOMES IN THE AREA TO BE EVACUATED. AND ACCORDING TO THE LA COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT CREWS MANAGED TO STOP THE FOR PROGRESS OF THE FIRE. AND THOSE EVACUATED ORDERS HAVE SINCE BEEN LIFTED SO OF COURSE SOME GOOD NEWS HERE THE CAUSE OF BOTH THESE FIRES REMAIN UNDER INVESTIGATION TONIGHT AGAIN THE SIERRA FIRE HERE IN FONTANA NOW AT 80% CONTAINMENT WITH 400 ACRES BURN UNTIL THE FIRE CREWS WILL REMAIN HERE OVERNIGHT TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO HOT SPOTS AND NO
