Faster Horses 2024: Catching Up with Tyler Hubbard

Faster Horses 2024 welcome back to the 11th Edition what a beautiful day it is amazing my name is Bo I am back as your host once again for the greatest event in the state of Michigan I'm biased though hey guys Zack top just came off stage what a great set that was uh next from nationville kicked off a little bit earlier DJ Rod's been been bumping out there and you guys are coming in faster this year than you ever have before and that's important here at Faster Horses so you can experience all the music I've been saying it saying it saying it and you're listening so thank you thank you very much but we're back here in the artist Lounge you guys get to see some of this on socials so we're set up back here and I grabbed I grabbed a friend of yours the first person that I saw when I got off the bus this morning who was sitting back here in the artist Lounge a two time a two-time headliner and his fourth appearance now at Faster Horses my buddy Tyler hubard what's up BC how are you pal I'm awesome man all we can say is welcome back yeah man it feels good to be back and yeah I so excited this morning I woke up like a kid on Christmas I'm out here hanging out uh basically me and me and the band just ready for the day to start so it's uh yeah we're excited to be here do you have any memories of the first year here in 2013 to be honest man Faster Horses has always been the the uh The Benchmark since the very first time we played here man the crowd the electric energy is insane I mean to be honest we just always said remember we always remember Faster Horses we compare everything to Faster Horses and uh you're right bro it is it is one of the the best events in Michigan and uh it's certainly going to be a party this weekend with this kind of weather and uh in the lineup you have here well tell me what we're in store for um I know everybody knows the stories and all that kind of stuff but I want to talk about your show and your solo career so the the the tour and the album are out or the tour's coming up the album is out tell us about what we're going to see here in just a few minutes yeah it's uh like you said new album just came out a couple months ago so we're going to be playing a lot of new songs a lot of songs off the first album a few throwback hits and uh man we're just going to try to get the party going here you know like we we always do and uh myself and the band were excited I can already tell the crowd's excited so uh yeah it's just going to be uh in in Tru faster hores fashion just a big old party the um re acclamation to being a solo act obviously uh is is different okay we all know the obvious part of it going from a Duo to being a solo act but there's always the the kind of reclimb the mountain okay which I know you and I know that challenge to you is what is really keeping you going right that's what you wake up in the morning and think about how do you prepare every morning to get up and go climb that mountain I mean good question you know I I first of all I try to look around and count my blessings a bit you know and try to get my P perspective in line and and uh remember where I'm at and why I'm here and uh try to get my heads space right and then I just put my head down and try to go to work you know whether it's writing a song uh staying fit fit enough to play the shows we want to play and uh give the crowd the energy I want to give them and uh you know it's it's a you're right it is a fun Journey but it is it is uh the climb that's actually you know for me it's pretty lifegiving it gives me a lot of energy I love a challenge and it's fun to uh kind of rebuild this thing a bit one of the things about playing festivals is that get to revisit friends that you don't get to see people think that you know all the artists in Nashville live in one subdivision right and y'all hang out all day every day is is there anybody that you've run into over the course of your festivals this year or even last year for that matter that you know you were like man I haven't seen you in 10 years yeah I just played a show with Joe Nichols and that was it's been a while since I've seen him and watched him do his thing that was cool but even today you know Zack top just played like you said I'm a new fan of him I just listened to his whole album like last week and I really love what he's doing to share a stage with Cody Johnson and jelly roll I'm big fans of them and so yeah just a it's a community here at this Festival specifically and you know that was one of my favorite things about uh about being here is just kind of this communal artist area getting to hang with friends and catch up a bit and uh yeah tonight's going to be special and I know the whole lineup the whole weekend is as well so I wish I could stick around for 2 days but uh but yeah it's good so here's a I'm going to throw a little bit of a curveball at you uh people know you as Tyler hubard the artist and and a fair number of people I would say know about your songwriting prowess what is the last song that you did not perform on that you wrote or co-wrote that everyone would know oh last song last song that I co-wrote you know Hardy just put out that song psycho a few months ago and I co-wrote that song with him and uh and it's been fun he said it's blowing up everybody's loving it so so yeah that's a song that I'm proud of and and love to see uh love to see him doing his thing and that's one of the things that we love here at Faster Horses we like to hear a little bit of behind the scenes make sure guys that you pay
