NFL football is back as we are just two days away from the week one season opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens my name is Harrison Graham this is for verts and on today's show we got some news to dive into around Trent Williams jamard jaase Hass reic Christian mcaffrey and a couple of other items as well lots to get into as the NFL season is finally here and if you're out hit the thumbs up icon and let's keep it [Music] rolling all right let's kick off four verts here Trent Williams is back as it was reported early this morning from ESPN's Adam schfer and several other that the 49ers and Williams are finalizing a restructured contract as he is ending his hold out now as of filming this numbers have not been reported but uh the terms are close enough to being you know on paper that he is reporting to the facility and is set to practice today as uh the 49ers take on the Jets in just six days and it's really a good time to be a niders fan because Trent Williams back in the fold Christian mcaffrey appears to be as well well he missed most of the preseason and training camp with a calf strain he is reportedly set to practice this afternoon as well and look it it's been a dramatic off season for San Francisco uh with Brandon auk situation having to give mcaffrey a payr now Trent Williams but all is well that ends well certainly appears it could be that way as the 49ers could be ready to roll here now we'll see if Trent Williams full is Full Throttle for week one he is 36 years old but you would think a player of that caliber you trust him and his body to be ready to rock obviously they'll monitor that this week sounds like mcaffry is going to be ready and Brandon iute got his money so it certainly seems like everyone is happy when it comes uh to some key players within the 49ers organization I still stand by that it's been a little overly dramatic the last several months but the Niners have had some contract disputes in recent years and they've overcome it to be very very good team and obviously uh the ultimate goal is winning the Super Bowl because they've knocked on that door 2019 had a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter 2022 NFC Championship game before brought party gets hurt against the Philadelphia Eagles last year had a 10-point lead at one point against the Chiefs again could not seal the deal lost an overtime it feels like this could be their year or their last best chance to get it done because again Trent Williams is a year older Fred Warner's year older George KD you're going to have to pay Brock pie soon so uh this is a critical year for Kyle Shanahan and Company and we'll see if they can hit the ground running against the New York Jets speaking of the Jets the latest on Hassan reic from josena Anderson is nothing has changed she double sourced this she says and um two sources told her that there's no New Movement no new update we are just six days away from the season opener and unless he shows up tomorrow Wednesday I don't see how there can be an expectation that he's going to play in week one even though he's been working out he's been posting videos seems like he's in good shape if you're not in the game plan it's kind of hard to play now maybe he could just you know be out there and be a pass rush specialist you don't have to know the scheme that much to be able to do that but nothing has changed from what he wanted four months ago five months ago to now why did the Eagles change this we covered this here on four verts why did the Eagles trade Hanan reck because he wanted more money and they weren't willing to give it to him so they put him on the trade BL team like the Jets Came Calling and even though they understood that he wanted a new deal in the initial deal they offered to him he didn't accept they still traded for him with the hope that something could get done well that hasn't happened and full disclosure I don't know what Hassan reic is asking for I don't know what his contract demands are but you knew what the situation was when you traded for him as my alarm goes off here months ago he wanted a new contract he's 30 years old he wants to cash in one more time so listen maybe he's asking for outrageous money but it's kind of hard to feel bad for the Jets here you knew what you signed up for he turned down your initial contract and you still traded a third round pick for that's on you you inherited Philadelphia's problems so you know again if I was advising Assan reic would I you know bend a little to take a little less money I don't know I'd have to know what the Jets are offering but at the end of the day they inherited this guy knowing he wanted a new deal and without him I you know it's one player they still have a good defensive front but it would just not be ideal if you traded a premium pick for a guy who hasn't been in the building all off season since he uh since he had his press conference uh post trade so I I think this has been mismanaged from the start Joe Douglas has to hold accountability here and um we'll see if something changes between now and week one or at some point this season but as of now it doesn't sound here he's going to be here he's ready to roll week one and then the next day Jamar Chase uh decided not to practice and he's still not practicing and Zack Taylor which we covered said yeah I may have jumped the gun there and now he's calling Chase's situation day by day and this one's a little trickier than like a CD lamb or even a Brandon iuk who he's clearly better than iuk and similar tier as lamb is he's only played three years of his rookie deal Lamb's played four so Dallas didn't really have a choice iuk could played Four the ners I think had more of a choice but they ultimately paid him here it's kind of like Chase's Elite I've said I would pay him by now if I was Cincinnati because he's just going to cost or later when you have a premium player who's top three top five at his position pay him as soon as he's extension eligible because the price is only going up that's what made the iuk one tricky for me because he's not a top five guy at his position he's top 10 top 12 obviously he ultimately got paid but um you know there were some back and forth going on there for quite a while um I would pay Chase but it seems like Cincinnati doesn't want to pay him till next off season so here's where things sit in my mind this is my official prediction I think he misses week one they play the Patriots I don't think there's a ton of urgency from Cincinnati there I think they know they'll beat New England with or without him so they get through that game and then it's kind of put up or shut up time Jamar Chase hates the Chiefs he's defended burrow when it comes to him in the Patrick Mahomes situation are you going to leave your QB out to dry in week two and again I hate phrasing it like that because this is generational money we're talking about here 8090 million guaranteed potentially for Jamar Chase or do the Bengals do they budge and ultimately pay up I think he'll be out there week two against the Chiefs it's too big of a game I think he'll be on the field I just don't know if it'll be with or without a new deal it seems like Cincinnati is holding pretty firm to not get this done I would get a new deal since he's a little cash poor compared to other teams in the NFL so maybe they're kind of trying to explain like hey man we've paid burrow we got T Higgins on the franchise tag like let's let's do this next off season your price tag will go even further up if you have a big year but I get wanting the guaranteed money man I mean you can you can set up yourself and generations of your family forever uh by getting this type of contract so um I don't think he'll be out there week one at this point unless there's a resolution by tomorrow uh but I do think something will happen for week two and he will play against the Chiefs all right quick Ricky peol update obviously if you guys have watched the news um just a terrible incident in the Bay Area got shot survived luckily bullet went through and through didn't hit any vital organs uh didn't sound like he was in the hospital too long maybe one night and apparently there's a report out there today that he's already back at the 49ers facility uh lifting weights now he's not going to play anytime soon uh because he was placed on the NFI list but this is great news obviously I mean this you know couple inches Left Right north south wherever this could have ended very differently uh for Ricky Piera so great to see this work out where um not only is he alive and well he's already recovering pretty quickly it sounds like so that's great news we won't see him until week five at the earliest obviously for on the field purposes getting Brandon iuk done was big because piol a had been banged up in the preseason then obviously had this incident so he's not going to be available but hopefully he's back sooner rather than later and able to get on the game field uh as early as October all right uh some videos upcoming here on for verts before we get out of here I teased a little earlier we'll probably do a Thursday night football reaction Chiefs Ravens kind of want to react to the first game of the season we'll see about the Friday night game kind of play that one by ear but
