questions for KJ all right KJ you've been here the whole year now just finished your third scrimmage getting ready for the season kind of how would you evaluate yourself just kind of acclimating the UCF and getting getting ready to play your final year in this new offense it's been great I mean I've embraced the process each and every day uh try to come out get better uh focus on my weaknesses a lot more uh try to hop on that to make me feel com comfortable and confident in those weaknesses and make sure I'm improving on my skills uh and main thing is just being able to come out and be consistent I mean that's the main thing you want to be at the quarterback position you want to be consistent and guys can count on you in uh big time situations K what have you seen from this team I mean you guys wrapping up fall Camp I mean what what is stood out to you most about this group heading into game prep for the week one I would say grit grit and toughness I mean that's the main thing I mean we're a physical football team uh from the coaching staff all the way down to the players I mean we always just feed off their energy and just shows our toughness I mean when we face when we fac with adverse situation how we going to respond I mean that's the main thing when adversity hit you how you how you going to respond I mean you going to lay down you going keep fighting so that's the main thing we want to keep fighting and make sure that we break uh break through that storm KJ going through uh the camp and actually even back further Su Beyond and all that what is what has been the key to help you find and get comfortable here who or what has helped you get comfortable in the offseason here I say my teammates I mean just coming together we all just bonding as one uh they welcoming me making me feel like I'm at home and I can always go to those guys with any problem I have or any situation that I have not even on the field but in life those guys I can go to them and talk to them and they'll be able to give me advice on any situation that I'm faced with in my life so that's be the main thing just us I mean just being there have that Bond and that connection that we can talk about anything you now went through a full spring camp and a full fall Camp uh how has coach Hinshaw helped you get through that uh coach Henshaw is a great coach and a great leader as well I mean a great man overall uh just he just helped me just uh transform my game from far as a mental standpoint I mean I have all the physical ability but it's it's always about mental toughness being mental at the quarterback position so just being able to just go in and just we just dissect each other Minds um just film study dissecting film and things to look at that tell you coverage that a defense is trying to disguise different things like that so he's brought that aspect and that piece uh that I needed uh for this upcoming season just being mentally tough coach Gus Maan has boasted having a top 15 offense in the years that he's been here how how confident are you with the guys you can continue back going I'm extremely com at we have some uh big time players on the off side of the ball the main thing us come down to is uh execution I mean we want to execute at a very high level no matter what play coach ma calls I mean we got to still be able to go out there and execute at a very high level and with with the execution that we have and with the players that we have we can do it in a very explosive manner coach mentioned the intensity that been taking place this fall Camp have you noticed that intensity and how consistent has that intensity been these pastek it's been very consistent I mean I've noticed it as well like I said it's very contagious I mean if the defense get make a great play or some that whole sideline is is is turned so I mean we want to be able to come out there and try to keep them down to a minimum but we also want to match their energy as well CU I mean when the competition is high is iron sharpen the iron I mean you bring out your best and you play your best as well when competition is high so I mean that's the main thing at practice we want to make sure we come in and meet that standard and make sure that we all flying around like a Harrison fire KJ what what's SP out about today's scrimmage were there any individual plays or players have set out you know any big runs big catches what what kind of stood out to you about today uh just uh the young guys getting their opportunity they've been preparing for this moment and to be able to go out there and scrimmage and showcas their skills and show what they can do to help add to this team and what we uh are trying to accomplish this year it was a big deal and uh guy that stood out uh Stacy Gage running the ball and running back a young guy uh Tyreek Patterson catching the ball bdale Richardson catching the ball so we did some really good things on the offensive side of pushing the ball down the field and EJ cson as well uh him coming in playing quarterback and making sure that he's uh taking the next step and being able to just take control of the offense remain in that leadership role when he's out there on the field hey KJ you were selected as a captain Congratulations by the way how does that make you feel as a transfer to be a leader of this team and how do you think that's going to help you translate that to the football field to lead this team uh thank you uh it's a big it's a big it's a very big deal me being a transfer coming in and being elected Captain I mean it's a big deal just to show that just my toughness and my uh overall just passionate for the game and me coming in just sured with my teammates and making sure that I earn their respect and they can always count on me when it's hard situation uh tough times in the ball game it's fourth quarter we need a big play they can look to me to make that play so just being able to come in and be a transfer guy and then also be elected team C I mean it's a blessing okay J you mentioned earlier you know getting getting in sync with Coach Hinshaw and all that can you share uh like an aha moment that he kind of showed you is he's helping you craft the mental part of the game something he showed you something he taught you that you can share that was kind of that aha moment that you're like okay I can think of it this way now uh I would say uh from a quarterback standpoint I would say uh just footwork uh just just being able to just really look at different NFL quarterbacks and just way it's a dropback or a quick game and things the things that they do with their feet and then I see and then we go to the practice indoor and we working it's like oh that speeds up the B it's it's quicker now okay I understand it now so just just from him just being able to show me that and me not really just looking to it as much I mean from a footwork stand point when I'm in the pocket and things like that pocket present so for him to just pinpoint that out like hey I think you can get better and transform your game at this standpoint right here so this what we going to do today this the emphasis that we're going to focus on so just having a guy like coach H Shaw that pinpoints different things and then take it to the film we look at it and go back and practice on it and it makes a big difference so just show that he knows what he's talking about and I can trust in him that's KJ guys said you guys have one more practice tomorrow he then starting next week you got shift in week one mod how excited are you about that now that you guys got banging up on each other how excited is actually focus on an opponent and get ready for the season uh I'm very excited to uh to see how we respond uh just from transition from Fall Camp I mean we pretty we we tired we tired of just going against each other battling each other and things so just focus our uh attention to uh just prepping for the game and just that sense of urgency that it has to even be higher now just make sure that we're preparing the right way so with any situation that comes in the game we already prepared for we already planing for what we're going to do thanks K thank
