We begin with breaking news. In the last hour, we learned new details about the deadly park tavern crash in Saint Louis Park that killed two people as a 56 year old man now faces several charges including two counts of criminal vehicular homicide. According to the criminal complaint, Stephen Bailey had a blood alcohol level more than four times the legal limit to drive at the time of the crash Sunday night. And we now know nine people were injured, three of them currently fighting for their lives in the IC U. This all comes as we learn more about the suspect's driving history including previous DW I convictions. Lou Aus is live with the update on this story. Lou guys, three of Steven Bailey's DWY convictions no longer appear on public records, but I have a print out of his actual driving record through Minnesota's driver and vehicle services. And not only does he have five DWY convictions, but his license was actually canceled over the years and he was given many, many second chances including being on the ignition interlock system for a period of about 10 years. So that at the time of the ST Louis Park crash, he was actually driving on a valid license. Now, according to the criminal complaint filed late this afternoon in the Park Tavern crash, Steven Bailey had a blood alcohol content of 0.325. The complaint says he was trying to park his car at the park tavern but he bumped into two different vehicles before accelerating into the patio. He was overheard telling someone on the phone allegedly that he had hit the gas instead of the brake. Then the complaint says he told police he didn't need to do field sobriety tests telling them quote, I know what I did, but the bottom line is whether he had a license or not, he made the decision to get into a car after drinking. And I would say about those priors, this, you know, most people who get charged with the DW, I don't come back. It's a wake up call. And so someone who has prior DWIs who still doesn't make a plan, uh, if he's going to drink to get home safely, uh, is hugely problematic regardless of whether he had a license or not. Now, according to the driving record, I obtained Bailey's first drunk driving offense was in Wisconsin at age 17 and his fifth was in Hennepin County in 2014 at age 46. He had no driving or alcohol related charges while the ignition interlock device was installed in his car which requires drivers to blow into to prove they're sober before the car will start. Now, Devia tells us that that was removed in May of 2023. Bailey is scheduled to make his first court appearance tomorrow afternoon on two charges of criminal vehicular homicide for the two people that died and nine charges for criminal vehicular operation for the nine people who were hurt as well back to you. Somehow, it just gets more horrific as more details come out. Thank you.
