Oasis Reunion, The Crow reboot, Krabby Patty, Lila Moss - CWT 3

greetings everyone and welcome back to another episode of Charlie Wright tonight as always I'm your host Charlie Wright I hope you're having a wonderful day of uh fall the first day of fall and you know what time it is time for your weekly brainwashing Rejoice Oasis fans because it seems like brothers Liam and N Gallagher are officially getting the band back together um after having a 15year Hiatus uh long dispute that broke the band apart in 2009 the two are finally getting over their uh massive Egos and going back on tour uh the official Twitter account of the band announced on Tuesday a 14 show tour in the UK and Ireland for next year with shows in Cardiff Manchester London Edinburgh and D uh tickets are most likely sold out by now um as they first went on sale August 31st and you know after a 15-year Hiatus I can imagine people were uh staying up all night to be first in line around the world I'm sure uh the seating for tickets went for £70 in Cardiff and Edinburgh for seaing tickets and 100b in London the standing tickets went for around 150 lb at each venue um I can't even imagine what the scalping price uh or the resale value for these tickets are going to be um but I think it's cool that the two brothers uh supposedly have made up and decided to play again together I mean if I were a DieHard Oasis fan I'd probably be ready to commit manslaughter for one of those tickets but I'm not um Oasis wasn't my favorite band uh I think they have a couple decent songs uh but I never really liked wonder wall um we also we also have to wait and see uh what they sound like together live as it has been 15 years and all granted both of them have had rather successful solo careers but who knows what they sound like together um it could either be great or it could be a complete disaster but with that being said fans now just have to pray that the two can get through rehearsals without killing each other the newest Crow movie uh came out last weekend starring Bill scars Garden FKA twig and opened up with am measly 4.6 million at the box office on opening weekend with a budget of 50 million Lionsgate the studio behind this uh turd flop just at dookie on another picture Borderlands and that film earned 8.6 million on a budget of more than $100 million these movie studios I I don't know how can they continue on when they're losing money like this I mean they're already kind of broke to begin with now the solution is pretty obvious to everyone except the studio Executives it seems and that is to just make better movies it's not like we really needed a remake of The Crow I mean people weren't beating down the doors shouting for another poorly written John wikified reboot uh I honestly believe that the crow is a cursed IP um franchise uh if you didn't know what happened on the first one the main actor and son of Bruce Lee Brandon Lee was accidentally killed by a prop gun on set whilst filming and the movie went on to be a success though but every sequel after has just been cursed to doomed to fail it seemed like um and the first one was directed by one of my favorite directors Alex Pras and it has a great comic book feel to it you know the cinematography the costumes the set design the soundtrack everything about that movie it just it makes it unique um and I feel like the new one wasn't really leaning into that whole comic book and Goth aspect uh that I was expecting from The Crow and instead it made it into like this kind of generic action movie with a main character that looks like Jared Leto's Joker and look I'm not knocking Bill Skarsgard I think he's a great actor and definitely put in a lot of effort to look good physically for the role and you know he does he looks good he looks hunky and chunky but that that's not enough to carry the entire movie okay and to be honest I don't know how many more bombs Lion's gate can handle before they either go bankrupt or have to merge with another studio so we'll just have to wait and see if you get to have any job in the history of mankind what would it be you know for some weird reason I've always had this fantasy of being an inkeeper or a Tavern keeper during like Medieval Times I don't know there's something about like having a spot where people come and eat and drink and be merry and they tie up their horses and they can sleep there if they want and I'd have some chesty beer maidens working for me um a huge fireplace with a big bubbling cauldron of soup or something I don't know I suppose you can get the same effect if you own like a small bed and breakfast maybe even a bar which I like to open a bar one day it's kind of one of my dreams but there's a something specific to the Inn The Tavern and that time period uh like I don't want a saloon in the 1800s American West uh fudal Japan like a Rokon would be cool but I want a nice thatch roof and a a Tavern somewhere in England or France with a well outside and and it's off like a road somewhere in the forest and at night I put out torches on the outside wall to light up the place and I have an intricate metal sign dangling right above the door it's like a pig drinking beer and people inside are eating roast chicken and drinking my homemade meat M I don't know I know some people out there they know what I'm talking about they know they get what I'm saying on my wave but I'm curious what do you guys think what would what would you choose as your dream job like anything throughout history maybe even a job in the future that doesn't even exist yet like some sci-fi robot creator manufacturer or like body augmentation Black Market organ donor Harvester I don't know sounds interesting let me know what you think in the comments Wendy's is collaborating with SpongeBob SquarePants and releasing a Krabby Patty meal that features a crabby Petty burger fries and a pineapple mango shake I'm actually really excited about this one um I've been a fan of Spongebob Squarepants uh since I was a young Ling and I've always wanted to eat a Krabby Patty I think most people that watch SpongeBob can admit to that fact um but the thing is though I don't think I've ever had wends before so I can't say if it's good or not but the promotion does begin on October 8th in honor of SpongeBob's 25th anniversary which is insane it makes me feel ancient and so far this is the first item that they have announced uh there could be more that involve other characters of the show like Plankton or Patrick or Sandy either way I'm hyped I might have to find a way to get a Wendy's somehow somewhere in order to try this because I don't know if they're ever going to do it again um even though even though it's probably just going to be a regular burger let's be honest um by the way I'm excited and I hope you guys are too because it's crabby patty time so in fashion news Lyla Moss is the newest face of bbery and boy have the people pulled out the Torches and pitchforks for this one um if you're scratching your head thinking well who who the hell is Lyla Moss well the daughter of famous model Kate Moss which is why everyone is calling out the rather clear and evident nepotism um in the comment section of the post that was made on the dazed Instagram account a majority of the comments are not happy with the choice let's say with a lot of them calling her boring spoiled and plain and to be fair as of now lyam Moss hasn't really made a name for herself in any field I mean she's not an act R she's not a musician an artist a chef uh for all we know she just happens to be the face of multiple Brands campaigns and an influencer so the only conclusion we can come to is that that all happened solely because of her connection to her mother and Layla isn't the only nepotism hire we've seen out of berbery uh they've also featured Oasis singers Liam Gallagher's son lennen and Jude Law's daughter Iris Law now this brings up the topic of nepotism and the way I see it there are multiple levels to the socially acceptable amount of nepotism so the most obvious and most enraging form is the top level that we see all too often in these spaces like film fashion music and that is when a direct family link gets them the job or the publicity without proving themselves beforehand and then there's the middle ground and that is not as famous or well known as the top level but they have enough sway artistically or they have connections to place people in certain positions or groups they don't tend to necessarily be the face of big brands or movies but they are somewhere close um or maybe even second L let's say um sometimes you don't automatically recognize them but then you look them up and then you realize they have a semi famous parent or grand grandparent and you think oh oh that makes sense now uh which may or may not annoy people depends on the connection uh also depends on the talent level I got to admit and the third tier are people who have loose connections to anyone famous or semif famous and try to capitalize on that fact you don't really hear much about these people because nobody really cares unless you are directly related trust me I know um they might get lucky here and there if they are Talent but for the most part the closest they get is like being on claim to fame and because they rarely make it people don't tend to care as much um it's just kind of like a little fun fact that they have about themselves but either way it's becoming pretty obvious that a lot of the newer generation of quote unquote Talent is mainly nepotism and it's kind of bothering a lot of people which to be honest makes sense it's fair back in the day there used to be more of these stories of people you know getting lucky moving to Hollywood moving to New York whatever and uh getting discovered you know making a name for themselves in the business and now more and more we see hey there's new faces popping up there's a new person here and there and what do you know somewhere somehow there's some kind of nepotism connected to it and it kind of you know kills the dream a little bit but either either way I think you know we got to keep at it you got to keep believing in it cuz there's enough out there for everyone I believe and some of these nepotism I don't think they'll last that long if they're really not delivering the people just won't buy if they're getting tired of it they'll just stop consuming it and then at some point it's going to have to change I wanted to talk about the trend I've noticed of the uh influencer to singer musician pipeline that I see happen quite often if I'm being honest um and the reason why I think that most of the time that is what they tend to transition into is because of the ease of access um think about it all you need is a microphone uh maybe some instruments not really necessary uh you don't really need training just a digital audio workspace like Ableton or FL Studio whatever and that's it I mean most of the time you can even find someone to produce write and record the rest of it or even make you a whole song and all you have to do is just sing over it um and then you can easily just put your song on Spotify and apple music YouTube Tik Tok which they already have going and they're popular on anyways so you know if anything their fans probably already have access to those things and if not then the song usually costs anywhere from like $1 to like three maybe five I don't know uh which is one of the cheapest things you can sell to your audience really um and things like modeling and acting they require a lot more people to be involved and behind it um I mean yes they do end up doing a lot of brand deals here and there and sponsorships and you know that can happen but it's rare that an influencer makes it to a Runway or mag cover um and for acting it's just a hugely competitive market already and every other influencer model nipple baby wants to do it and so there are a few roles out there to begin with and those kind of get taken up real quick um and you know it takes so long for the show or the movie to finally come out and it's kind of out of their hands but with music you can make it in your bedroom or in a small Studio and then you can easily go on tour and play small shows here and there all being controlled rather easily and the whole like looking good and influencer aesthetic kind of goes hand in hand with live performance it's like a meet and greet but with music and and the thing is I don't know how many of them actually wanted to be musicians at the first place um if their whole goal all along was to become a successful musician or if they just got to a point in their social media career where they decided to Pivot or some manager told them to you know go towards music um and I'm not blaming them it makes perfect sense that music is the easiest and most logical move after becoming internet famous that in maybe a podcast he uh but like I said I'm not knocking them for doing it because hey you never know maybe I'll have a music Arc someday I've just been noticing that Arc happen all the time and it was kind of one of the only explanations that actually made sense to me was that well that's it thanks for watching again I hope you enjoyed this episode if you did remember to like comment and subscribe to the channel and uh
