Badgers quarterback Tyler Van Dyke looks forward to season opener, talks offensive preparation

competition and practice you know makes us extremely confident in what we can do on offense especially going against a defense um like ours so really mix up a bunch of stuff bring a lot of pressure so I'm really uh confident in what we got uh coming through history this place yeah I've seen um a few names obviously Russell Wilson is probably the biggest name um you know Alex hybrook and uh um I mean I'm I'm not too familiar with it but uh yeah I mean there's definitely been some great quarterbacks here in the past that have you know LED um you know Wisconsin some great runs and and good win so yeah I mean it's a little bit different um obviously in the past year it's been a pro style deal and Coach Longo is more spread air raid type deal so you know coming here offensively I was really looking at that part um for one I wanted for myself offensively um obviously the culture here the winning atmosphere the defense o line I also came here for that as well it takes some pressure off each game with 12 teams making play off you know a little bit of pressure off you know um if you don't if you like if you lose one game like it's might be okay I mean if you do lose one game I mean you still have an opportunity um you know the biggest thing is if you do you can't you know you know going going to Shell and be like all our season's over now um like you kind of did with the the four team playoff a little bit um but you know you never know what can happen in college football now I mean the number 10 team just lost to uh Georgia Tech uh this past weekend so um you know no matter what happens you just have to keep fighting with the 12 team playoffs so um just keep going the matter what kind of going off with that because you know there's the rankings but nobody really knows who is what what is who how much excitement does that give you coming into a new situation to kind of show people kind of what you guys are made of and what this offense can do yeah it's exciting um you know we have a really good opportunity uh with a really good schedule uh play some really good teams so just excited to you know showcase what we got on offense and obviously the defense as well so just very excited um obviously it starts Friday but for the rest of the season as well Chris perks is a guy that has dealt with some injuries during his time here but seemed like he had a pretty good fall camp and we saw him in the 2D stood out about him for you yeah obviously he did practice in the spring and um dealt with some injuries and had some adverse moments and he's done a great job you know coming back and um doing what he has to do to understand the offense understand you know what he has to do in in his position and uh he's made some really good plays really good catches and he's only going to grow from there sorry if you were already asked this but you know thoughts on night games those rank high for you yeah like me games a lot um more of a fan of me games than any other time but I think it's especially here I think it's going to be pretty cool with the atmosphere uh the night atmosphere um then the jump around be pretty cool as well so excited for it obviously there are obviously you guys have to take these these first few games seriously but before you play teams like Alabama and Oregon is there anything that that you want to find out about the team kind of like maybe experiment a little bit um you know we're just going to go out every day and get better each day um you know we can't take any opponent lightly uh I've had plenty of experiences in the past where um that might have happened with uh a team and didn't end up being what we wanted to be in the end and maybe affected Us in the next week or um you know thinking too far forward so obviously we play some really good opponents and we can't take any of these teams lightly um I mean Western Michigan they beat uh pit three years ago in 2021 and that's when pit went to the ACC Championship game um so you can't take any of these opponents L you just got to you know play one game at a time after all the offensive coordinators that you've kind of you know had in your career what stands out about Phil Longo both with his off the field and with his schematics yeah one thing I really like about Coach Longo he uh he really cares about his quarterbacks and um really understands his guys and you know one thing I also like about him is he just you know lets you play he lets you change stuff up Run game pass game um he doesn't have you in handcuffs out there so um that's probably the the biggest thing apprciate
