um they're eating pets in Springfield Ohio and we'll be sending Johnny to Springfield to see if indeed pets are being eaten so you can see that on Monday this story is so stupid I can't believe I'm still covering this all right guys um so I keep seeing people doubling and tripling down on this Trump saying that the Haitian are eating people's pets stealing and eating people's pets we have a major problem in this country with media literacy okay like this story was circulating online in right-wing media cess pools in the like Far Corners of Twitter and and people are just picking it up and running with it so like do yourself a favor go actually look this up because it's been debunked I did a video about this literally the afternoon before the debate saying that this story is not only dumb and desperate it's also deeply racist and dangerous so I'm going to get to that in just a second because apparently Springfield Ohio is receiving bomb threats they don't know if it's exactly related to this but I have a guess that it probably might be but if you want to know where the Nugget of Truth in the big conspiracy you know like lie about this happening is there was a woman who was arrested because she allegedly killed her cat and started eating it now here are the important nuggets and I'll show you the article one this woman was having a mental episode and it's one person two she's American not Haitian three there's not like this widespread problem of people just like getting cats and stolen and people eating them okay so here's the article it says the Canton Police Department released body cam footage on Wednesday of a 27-year-old Alexis Ferell being arrested after allegedly eating a cat in Ohio that's Canton not Springfield um after receiving multiple calls about the incident the police arrived at the scene and arrested FAL on animal cruelty charges with claims circulating that Haitian immigrants in Springfield are stealing and eating pets our verified team has reported that the Springfield Police Department says there is no truth to the viral claims no truth to the viral claims now that's just one news article about this there are many many many others that during the debate ABC said yeah we personally called Springfield Ohio They said that the city officials said that this is not happening Governor Mike dwine who is a republican by the way the governor of Ohio said this is completely untrue it's not happening so guys like do yourself a favor don't buy into this because I get these things in the comments of people saying like no it's actually true what's happening in Ohio it's a real story it's true no it's not no it's not and the whole reason people are defending this is to try and defend Trump's disastrous debate performance like there's just hold the L okay there's no coming back from it he's shrieking on national TV that people are stealing pets and eating them this is as bad as Joe Biden going out there and saying uh well uh we finally beat Medicare when he's talking the the question was about abortion like honest people will just accept that that was a outlandishly crazy thing to say and move on but the fact that like people keep breathing fire into this as if it's true to try and defend Trump like no no no it's actually it's not helping it's hurting you're perpetuating this stupid story and making him seem insane for bringing it up so guys anyway like I said I just I had to bring it up because there's so many things that go on on the internet that people just see and then they accept it as fact without actually checking or verifying anything if you post an article or if you do something 95% of people will read the title of the article or they'll read the first line and then nothing else after that so like when you do a story it's called burying the lead but it'll be like a paragraph or two down where like the actual what is going on is talked about but if you don't read past that you just see the article you see the headline and you go oh yeah that must be true so that's where this comes from is like Trump saying well I I saw people on TV saying it it's like you saw this on some right-wing rag Network you saw this on Truth social on Twitter on wherever right it's not true and so like I said the the big the the moral of this story is when people do this especially on stuff as dumb as this there's real world consequences to spreading lies like this which is Springfield is saying they're getting bomb threats okay so here's the story on the bomb threats um this is from AOS Ohio City at Center of pet eating rumor receives bomb threats Springfield City Hall in Ohio was evacuated Thursday in response to a bomb threat as the city is at the center of a conspiracy theory accusing Haitian migrants of eating pets that former president Trump and others shared Trump shared the rumor on national TV on the debate but it had gained traction online via social media post from right-wing influencers and GOP vice presidential candidate JD Vance a bomb threat was issued to multiple fac facilities throughout Springfield the city said in a social media statement it's unclear whether the threats are connected to the conspiracy theory local officials have said there is no evidence or reports of anyone eating pets and Vance acknowledged in his post on X it's possible the rumors will turn out to be false so this is what I'm talking about like they it they just float some out there and then like their defense is it's possible it might not be true but like the damage is already done like you've already infected the minds of people who are conspiracy prone to think like this unbelievable the vice presidential candidate of the country on the Republican ticket you have to actually verify this stuff and I don't feel like I have to come out here and and and tell people that like this is verifiably false you as a consumer of media a consumer of news should be able to go that seems like a really outrageous claim let me just go look at this real fast and it would take you two seconds to fact check and see all the stuff that's like nope this is false this is false this is false anyway guys um yeah so just wanted to jump out in front of that because like I said I'm seeing it in the comments and all this is is part of the cope all this is is part of the like trying to justify Trump having a really really insane moment on national TV and like guys just hold the L he he totally the bed and it's okay his his supporters are still going to vote for him anyway you don't have to defend him talking about patian eating pets anyway that's it I just wanted to do that um remember like And subscribe uh helps me out helps grow the channel and I'll see you in the next one peace
