teacher talk and sports what it do is what it do how we live and I've previously made videos about how Aaron judge got off to such a slow start in April and look at him now it's been incredible how he's performed since then well almost the opposite version not quite cuz he hasn't been the worst player since April but clay Holmes clay Holmes got off to an outstanding start didn't didn't give up his first earned run until May 20th uh so was completely dominating and since that time uh he has really struggled and fans are calling for his head but last night Carlos rone pitched very well for the Yankees six Innings 11 strikeouts but look at that last name in their uh pitching clay Holmes onethird of an inning two hits two walks four earned runs gave up a grand slam to Wyatt Langford um and the Yankees lost the Orioles were playing the white socks do I really have to tell you who won that game the white the Orioles um so they are back in first place by half a game so a big blown SA saved by Kay Holmes who now has 11 this is what Aaron Boone had to say after the game uh this is via the Yes Network X page you now fall out of first place in the AL East the 11th blown save for homes this season do you need to go another Direction when it comes to the closer I'm not going to answer that right now when we're raw and emotional and you know we'll talk through and and do what we think's the the best thing Aon when he walks the first guy and it starts unraveling a little bit for him do do you see does it feel like he's losing confidence as time goes on out there no I you know there's been times like that in past years where I feel like he's gone through a weak stretch where he's kind of struggled mechanically I don't feel he's had a lot of those stretches this year um you know tonight they they you know they they got them you know you know a lot of the times where you know we've lost out there it's been you know soft contact beating them you know obviously that wasn't the case and I walked two guys and and obviously Lanford put a real charge into one so um you know we got to we got to you know make sure he's good and and uh and and make sure he's he's good you know I think he handles all this all right I'll stop it there but yes so he basically saying that you know he hasn't really noticed anything off with Clay Holmes mechanically a lot of soft hits uh why lenford sure didn't have a soft hit last night and as I mentioned with Clay Holmes again had a zero erra on May 19th since then so from May 20th on in his 37 games 35 Innings more than a hit inning also 15 walks so he has a whip well over one and a half his ra of 5.14 on uh that brief amount of time and also 16 saves and 10 blown saves so just 16 out of 26 save opportunities since um May 20th he had 13 of his 14 save 13 of his first 14 save opportunities he executed so uh really struggling of late and you know it's just about that time to probably take him out of the closer rle what are your thoughts who should take over the ninth inning role if you believe Holmes should be taking out I think the main name that'll come up might be Tommy Canley uh has a 2 ER on the season and has equally equally done as well against left-handed hitters as he has right-handed I mean Luke Weaver's performed well this year as well Jak cousins but I I think Canley would probably be their first option um but let me know if you have another idea and also Clay Holmes is a free agent after the season and this was his last year of arbitration uh he was going to he was looking to get a substantial contract next contract um you know as of May 19th of the year uh looked like he would you know maybe not make as much as an Edwin Diaz but um you know the next level below him and Josh haer and um you know while he'll have an MLB contract next year uh he's definitely losing millions and Millions on it with the way he has pitched of late anyhow don't forget to subscribe tell a friend tell friend tell friend subscribe like the video share the video hit the bell for notifications I'm out
