hello everyone Thanks for tuning in greetings from mainland China I'm an American living here in mainland China and guess what I've been here a hell of a long time and today because it is election season that means things are going to get pretty crazy people are going to be at each other's throats there's going to be a lot of arguing there are going to be a lot of lost friendships broken friendships people unfriending people because of their political views which is pathetic listen guys mostly since I'm talking about the US elections I'm referring to my fellow Americans here but regardless of where you're from remember it's okay to have different opinions it doesn't mean you have to hate the person after all if we all agreed on everything how boring would the world be but in this video I want to focus on Tim Walls he happens to be let me try to spit this out in a way that sounds coherent Tim Walls is the current vice president Camala Harris who is now running for a promotion one step up from VP to pus that's right she's running for president now and her pick for VP is a man named Tim Walls he is currently the governor of Minnesota well you see the thing about Mr walls is that he's got quite a long history and deepr rooted relationship with China and in this video I'm going to be giving you some quick facts about his relationship with China what people are saying about it how people are reacting to it and giving you some some of the information that you need to be able to make up your own mind about who this guy is and whether his relationship with China is a good or a bad thing so let's just rattle off some quick facts about Tim walls' relationship with China okay he first went to China in 1989 I believe he was in Hong Kong and he was just about to go to a teaching gig in the mainland just when the infamous crackdowns at tennman Square took place I believe Tim was 25 years old at the time when those crackdowns happened a lot of foreigners in China left well Tim Walls and his group of teachers that he was with decided to stay the course and go ahead and take that teaching position his relationship with China started off with him working as a high school teacher in fan number one high school fan is a city in southern China's guangong Province I have some videos of me traveling down in Guangdong you can check those out if you're interested really cool place Guangdong is an awesome part of and it's right down there just across the way from Hong Kong Tim was working with a Harvard Affiliated nonprofit program called World teach Tim by his own account had an amazing time working in China where he was provided an apartment and he earned about $80 per month not much right but that was about double what his Chinese counterparts were making he has been quoted as saying that he will never be treated that well again referring to the really warm and kind treatment that he received by his students in China he has been to China over 30 times many of those trips were him leading student groups on field trips to China now Tim has been critical of the Chinese government he has also done things that would greatly upset the authorities in China such as meeting with the Dalai Lama as well as many other things that you can easily find yourself I don't want to mention them all one by one here another quick about Tim Walls is that surprisingly given his backstory on his experiences in China especially how the whole thing started off Tim and his wife Gwen chose June 4th as their wedding date which just so happens to be the exact date of the infamous crackdowns at tenman Square I mean there are 365 days in the year to choose that one specific day well let's just say it seems like quite a coincidence some on the Democrat side are saying that Tim's China experience will be a positive thing for us China relations stating that his past experiences in the country makes him uniquely equipped to navigate the complex relationship between the two superpowers others on the Republican side are expressing concern that he had likely been groomed by China even going so far as to call him a Manchurian Candidate and giving him nicknames such as totalitar Ian Tim another quick fact that involves Tim Walls a probe was recently launched by the house committee on oversight and accountability to take a deeper look into Tim's possible connections and relationships with Chinese leadership and Elite at a press conference just a few months ago China's foreign Ministry spokesperson a Woman by the name of maing was asked about it so here was the exchange maing was asked by a reporter quote Camala Harris has chosen Tim Walls as her White House running mate walls has a lot of connections to China he taught English here but he also met with the Dalai Lama as a congressman as well as Hong Kong pro- democracy activists does the foreign Ministry have any comment on how the choice might impact China us relations and here was Ming's reply and I quote the US presidential election is the domestic Affair of the us we have no comment on it we hope the US will work with China in the same direction under the principles of mutual respect peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation and work for the steady sound and sustainable development of China us relations for the benefit of both countries and The Wider world so hopefully you learned something about Tim Walls and the overall situation from this video for at least the next next couple of months you're probably going to be hearing his name a lot you're probably going to be seeing his face you'll probably be hearing some of his words on TV and if he and Camala Harris win the election well you're going to be seeing him for at least the next four years so I thought it was appropriate to do a little Focus piece on this being that he does have this relationship with China he came here originally to teach he's got a lot of experience in China and being that I'm mainly a China focused Channel I do a lot of travel videos I also do videos on current events as well as videos on anything from food to culture just anything China related and other countries too but right now I'm mainly doing the China thing so what are your thoughts on the upcoming election and more specifically what are your thoughts on Camala Harris
