A Carnival cruise ship had a dramatic encounter
with an iceberg in Alaska's Tracy Arm Fjord, evoking fears of a "Titanic moment" among
passengers. The Carnival Spirit was sailing when the iceberg scraped alongside its right
side. Multiple videos filmed by passengers showed the ship's collision with the iceberg.
The ship stopped for hours to assess potential damage, but a Carnival spokesperson
confirmed there was no harm to the hull, allowing the vessel to continue its journey. The
ship completed its seven-day voyage to Seattle and departed for a 14-day trip back to Alaska.
Despite Alaska's challenging icy waters, modern cruise ships and their experienced captains ensure
that such incidents rarely affect operations.
