I don't know two months ago that he said the WNBA women are very jealous and Petty and envious of Caitlyn Clark and that they couldn't have handled this any worse if they wanted to essentially that's what he said and the question is okay that part is pretty much true the question is did it really hurt the league either shortterm or long term which I think you could have two different answers for because obviously this caused a lot of drama which actually I think increased the ratings and attendance in the WNBA what happened with Caitlyn Clark yeah unfortunately Mark yeah I mean it it brought out the drama in the negative way not in a positive way you know with with with everybody piling on and talking about kitlyn Clark and and how she is and so yeah of course people are tuning in because of the drama that that's going on which there shouldn't have been that much like he said I mean we we've been saying this the whole year about what's going on so uh I mean it's nothing new that what he said is exactly spot on what he said well there's many layers to this Rob because especially since we have to look at it from Long Term and short term her being left off the Olympic team which was part of the jealousy and the enviousness took place that's going to hurt him long term because the exposure they would have gotten from the Olympics with K and Clark playing would have been much greater so for the next four years they're going to suffer for that reason however all the increased drama that took place with kit Clark made more fans of citon Clark because they saw how resilient she is how likable she is and she actually got more fans and then people wanted to watch her play because of the drama and the ha hate that was taking place towards her they said they wanted to see her beat the women that hated her right I think or the women that were jealous of her and I think that increased viewership yeah people were you know saw the Injustice what Injustice it was not her not being on the team and the reasoning why and then during the year the the pettiness and jealousy that she faced the whole year for no for no apparent reason for just being a basketball player there was no she did nothing to anybody but like you said I like the way how she just kept it quiet you know and stuck to not on social media she could have but she just keeps it quiet like yeah whatever I'm just gonna go out here and play my game let the other let the noise go around me you know so right but some people got turned off by it I know people that cancelled their WNBA pass and they said okay I'll watch cait and Clark but I'm not going to watch other people in the league so it had it had mixed results because of that I think people have a bad image of the WNBA which is bad long term and I think they're going to watch citon Clark but they may not watch the other teams because they were so turned off by them and I think they're turned off by the play especially all the Miss layups that people have been talking about recently where they it seems to be getting worse well also also like we mentioned the physical part again of the the flagrant fouls the physical part of the game is a big turnoff for them too so it's it's um with with the likely would yeah people we're going to watch Kaitlyn Clark games but the other games some people will watch you know the true fans will watch their Liberties and their and their links but the bottom line is most of the people are going to be watching for Caitlin Clark right so we'll see I mean people got exposed to other players uh Asia Wilson was not really a household name Brandon Stew was actually more of a household name than her at that time but but people got exposed to how good she is I don't know if they're fans with their personality I'm certainly not but I got to see her play more and she she's a great player and everything but will they be fans of her permanently or or not I don't know well we'll have to find out whether people become fans of the other players and the other teams if they still see them as unlikable Rob I don't know if that's good for them long term other than Caitlyn Clark's popularity that's that's also with that longterm is this long-term pettiness going to keep going no matter what if she wins she wins The Rook of the year is going to be controversy if the next two three years they win a championship and she wins MVP is there going to be a problem I think unfortunately this is going to be an an ongoing problem for I don't think it's going to go away yeah Rob like for instance right now the long-term thing is key to what you just said in terms of pettiness right now the people turn in because the drama's kind of new they just kind of want to see it do after a while they just say gosh what will this drama one with this pettiness and jealousy ever end that's what they're going to say they're going to say maybe they just get start to get turned off however as as you also just said if kit CL starts winning MVPs and winning championships K and Clark fans aren't going away yeah will they support the rest of the teams and the rest of the league is another story right that's why I think there's many layers to this go ahead Rob sorry and that's a problem the the WNBA has to get behind the supporter Clark which they said they didn't know was didn't happen they didn't see it coming that's the main point right there Markus the league itself has start to get behind what's going on well we already know Rob that's not going to happen they're afraid to because she's because she's a white straight female and the rest of the league is not happy about the fact if you start supporting a woman who's not a black or not a lesbian and who's becoming a big star in the league they I I this seems so obvious to me that they're afraid of the league and ideology that's taking place with the league and I don't think they're ever going to promote Kate and Clark to the extent they should to the extent that the NBA did with Michael Jordan when Shaq and LeBron came into League they didn't hold back they just promoted them they weren't worried I mean I realized they were black players in a black league but it didn't matter they they didn't hold back in terms of promoting them and they were rookies espec especially if especially if a AJ AJ Wilson's the most valuable player how dare they put her Clark above you know why are they I mean that that's what's gonna happen why are they promoting her I got MVP why don't they put more emphasis on me it's gonna happen it's so silly well that's why the push for Asia Wilson to get MVP this year they know that her chance are going to go down every year now now the K CL CL is in the league so they anointed her like in week one yeah and so but in terms of popularity I don't know what's going to happen I I do know that people will get tired of the drama and they'll get tired of the Mis layups and they get tired of unlikable personalities but I think people like the good guy versus bad guy in this case good women versus bad women scenario because it makes him root for the good person more and and they tune in well people people don't like yeah people don't like Injustice no matter who they are and if they and they could see right you know right right in front of them like what why look at that oh wow they they knocked her down and nothing happened what's up with that or why are they saying these things about her why are these former players coming out and and hating her for no reason other than the fact they're afraid of her breaking their records that's very that's very Petty so yeah people will see that are seeing that right now yeah we'll see whether the the rise in their popularity is only slight and everything else is basically the Kate and Clark effect meaning like the other teams go up a little bit and Caitlyn Clark's views and Chicago's away in home attendance goes up dramatically and it's going to make look it's it's G to make the league look more popular than it actually is if you took K and cler out they would have gone up say this much and we'll see whether it goes up this much instead of this much because then it says okay it actually worked it actually became more popular in long term but I wonder I wonder how many people got turned off by the pettiness of the women and how they treated Caitlyn Clark because they treated her poorly let's be honest about this yeah but I mean the main thing is Mark will they will will the like you said will the league get it which this is this year I keep on emphasizing this year is a year they should really like Hey we're starting to take off the arena is being filled because Caitlyn Clark is here not because they're not being filled when she's not there they're switching to bigger Revenue she when she's playing hey this is a this is a money maker for us but they're they're still stuck in that little petty way so who knows so yeah we'll see because if they had promoted her properly I think Caitlyn Clark and would brought even more fans in but then the drama brought in the fans so I don't know which one outweigh the other all I know is exactly it's it's a very nuanced type of thing going on terms of the popularity in terms of why it's popular and what's going to be popular in the future and I think short-term and longterm might have two different answers right now it's it's working the drama is working for popularity but people might get tired of it I want to know what you think in terms of longterm and shortterm how poor the reception was to K and clar is going to hurt him shortterm is it going to hurt him longterm is the drama going to help shortterm which I think it has and is the drama going to help longterm or is that going to hurt long term will the league become more popular just Caitlyn Clark's fans be there all all along and maybe the rest of the league will only become a little bit more popular so we'll see they I I think they were better off long term accepting Caitlyn Clark and they didn't so we'll see what happens so that in other words the drama helped right now this year but it's not going to continue to help in the future they need to do things differently in the future to continue to have the league grow you can't just have drama to grow a league right come on right the train yeah the train accept K and Clark and start making your layups and I think the league will be more popular that's what I'm trying to say yeah all right I could be wrong but you know who knows I won't know for I don't have a strong prediction on it but I think that's how human nature is though anyways we'll be live for Indiana Fever tomorrow night against the Minnesota links and Rob's second favorite coach the delightful Sher Reeves yeah and it's big game so it's at 7:30 and I and we're going live for the NFL game tonight start of the Season Lamar Jackson versus Patrick Mahomes and
