Intro quarterback there is no bigger position on the football field a great quarterback can take you to the Promise Land an average Quarterback can have you playing in a bowl game that well you've never heard of before who are some of the best signal callers in the Big 10 I'm going to rank them one through 18 from LA to bcat all big 10 all year long this is big 101 it's never easy these rankings 1 Criteria through 18 so you got to start with some criteria first talent what have they put on film what kind of throws can they make can they throw the Deep ball do they have the arm strength do they have the accuracy do they have the patience do they have the confidence do they have all of the traits that it takes to be a leader in the passing game in today's environment of college football and number two what do they have around them coaching staff what is the history of this coaching staff that is around them to develop quarter backs to develop offenses and then what weapons do they have to throw to if you have a great quarterback but none of these guys can get open a lot of times these quarterbacks don't show quite how good they are but if you have great weapons that can get open it can make a quarterback look real real good that being said let's get into it the grand reveal 2.0 on this channel I don't think Dillon Gabriel you can start a big 10 rankings heck you might not even be able to start a college football quarterback Power Rankings list without talking about about Dylan Gabriel this guy has played a lot of football the guy before him at Oregon also played a lot of football in B Nick so back-to-back very experienced quarterbacks coming into an Oregon offense that has been well proven under will Stein to be one of the very best in college football Dylan Gabriel has played five seasons of college football at UCF in Oklahoma not only has he played it he's played it at a very high level in his four SE Seasons his four full seasons I should say as a quarterback he has thrown 25 plus touchdowns and less than six interceptions in each of those four full season so he's just not playing average football he's playing at the top of his game you combine that with the weapons in this Oregon offense and just everything that Oregon is there's no question why Dylan Gabriel could end up in New York City when all is said and done let's get to the battles two and Allar/Howard three I put Drew Aller ahead of will Howard because of his experience with big 10 defenses this last year Aller and Howard put up very similar numbers Aller did it in the Big 10 Howard did it in the Big 12 Aller was kind of they knew and recognized his talent right away at Penn State it took a little bit for Howard to get going I think both of these guys under new coordinators here in 2024 are going to have a lot of success and I think they're going to to elevate their game this next season when I look at Drew Aller being a notch above Howard right now it's also about taking care of the football last year only two interceptions now that number might go up this year because Andy cot Nikki is kind of going to make this offense a little bit more Dynamic creative they're going to stretch the field I believe a lot more and bringing in Julian Fleming is going to help out I believe just Allard to be a better peer passer right now when I as compared to will Howard but when I look at Howard I see a guy that can certainly get involved in the RPO game in the Run game as well and then look at the coordinator that Ohio state is bringing in Chip Kelly now you have will Howard and what he was able to do at Kansas State he could take a step up with this great talent that they have on the outside at Ohio State that could be a very interesting battle those guys I think are going to be in the top of the Big 10 and then you've got four through seven who I've kind of grouped together I've got Miller Moss leading Moss/Rogers/Chiles/TVD all of these guys because of Lincoln Riley who am I to question Lincoln Riley and his track record of developing quarterbacks throughout time now Miller Moss has been in this system he's been at USC fun fact longer than Lincoln Riley so for the past two years he soaked in all of this information and then when I watch moss in that bowl game he's patient he's confident he's very different I believe than Caleb Williams in what he provides and they've got a lot of good young Talent around them as well I put Moss ahead of Will Rogers because look what you've done for me lately look at what Will Rogers has been like this past year at Mississippi State he's dealt through some injuries right he's proven right he is as high as he is on this list at number five because he's proven to put up some big time numbers Nation leading numbers in the power two against SEC defenses but he's not quite at number four because of all of the changes right because of what happened this past year got banged up a little bit and now you're going into a brand new system with Jed fish and Brendan Carroll into a team in Seattle where the cupboard has been stripped of all the good fun snacks and now you kind of got to rebuild right there there are some parts to play with right now there's just some uncertainty when I look at Miller moss and when I look at Lincoln Riley I think I'm a little bit more sure minded of maybe putting him a little bit higher than Will Rogers right now I love Aiden childes I wasn't quite ready to put him in the top five right out of the gate just yet okay when you look at transfer quarterbacks a lot of times during this spring period it's learning the coordinators learning their Tendencies learning the playbooks meshing with your teammates Aiden Charles is still going to have to mesh with his new teammates and he's Lancing but he followed his head coach Jonathan Smith and maybe more importantly he followed his offensive coordinator Brian lingren to East laning Michigan I watch Aiden childes on tape and there's a reason why Oregon State wanted to get him on the field for the third series series of every game last season he reminds me of a college version of Lamar Jackson we'll see if he can develop into an NFL version of Lamar Jackson as time goes by but when I look at Charles he can make a deep throw with a lot of touch he can short to medium passes he can put a lot of zip on the ball as well Michigan State fans you should be excited to have what you have at the quarterback position I put him ahead of Tyler van djk a lot of reasons why I put Miller Moss above Will Rogers is you look at TVD has kind of fallen off a little bit later in his career this past year injuries happened Josh gtis happened I'm sure Michigan fans are going to appreciate that one but you kind of then you look at all going into a new scheme and a new system I feel maybe smidge better about the scheme and the system that TVD is going into than maybe what Washington has because Washington is brand new whereas Phil Longo and Luke fickle that's the second year of their tenure and they have will Paul and and and green their top two receivers coming back they have chz Maloy who's a dynamic running back kind of coming back into this thing I feel more confident maybe about TVD but I believe Will Rogers has put up better film and is a more talented quarterback than Tyler van djk currently right now will someone get Card/Altmyer Hudson card and Luke Alm some offensive lines like they have shown some promise on tape I put card ahead of altmire right now and these two are going to be compared to for the rest of their college careers they came in at rival schools transferred in um at the same exact year and the same exact time so they are going to be compared and here they are compared once again right uh right up against each other in these big 10 quarterback power rankings of mine but card put up better numbers I think card's a better passer Luke Alm maybe a little bit better with his legs both Purdue and Illinois are kind of undergoing some changes at the wide receiver position kind of going into the spring we'll just put it that way we'll put it lightly a little bit there for our fans in champagne and West Lafayette but I got C just a notch above Luke altm as well Brosmer/McNamara/Rourke let's go to the right side of this thing let's talk about some right Siders there is a reason go for fans to be excited for Max brosmer and I really group up number 10 11 and 12 right here and I want to start with Max I think Max is the most talented of this group you look at what he was able to do at New Hampshire over 6600 yards and 56 touchdowns he was one of the the best quarterbacks in FCS the last couple of years and he was at prod day recently in goer land and they were pretty excited about him there were some players that are moving on to the next level that say yeah that Max brosmer he's the real deal go for fans you're in good hands at the quarterback position and then when I look at Minnesota remember the beginning of the video we talked about the criteria and what you have around you okay and I think Minnesota out of these three offensively maybe has the best around him Daniel Jackson I believe is the best receiver out of the three teams Darius Taylor to lean on in the Run game is maybe the best back out of these three teams as well I believe Max brosmer is the best quarterback when you compare brosmer Kade mcamera and Curtis roor talking about those other two right now with Kate he's coming off some injuries remember it was back in 2021 that seems like forever ago that's the first season that this channel was covering games that's how long ago it seems like a long time ago uh doesn't it but when I look at Kade mcamera and you look at that season I he what threw only what 15 touchdown passes that year Kade mcem has to lean on a lot of other parts okay when everything's going right around him I think he can be good but you look at Iowa and I know Tim Lester is going to maybe try to change things up a little bit and Spruce up this Iowa offense a little bit but when you look at their weapons outside of tight end and Caleb Brown it doesn't really impress me right so that's maybe going to make things a little bit more difficult for this Iowa offense part of their struggles was their in ability for guys on the perimeter to get open their lack of skill outside at wide receiver when you look at Curtis roor big body type of guy but kind of like the Tyler van dijes of the world and the Will Rogers of the world could take a little bit of a step down this past season injures certainly played into that but I have roor where I have him because of the staff at Indiana that is known for developing quarterbacks look what just happened with Jordan McLoud over at James Madison Kurt Signet and his his staff have a history of doing really good things at the quarterback position and he's got that Target to lean on with Donovan mccul I went back and forth on 11 and 12 here but I had the experience factor in the Big 10 with Kade mcamera I think it's saying a lot Raiola/Kaliakmanis/Garbers for Dylan riola a true freshman that has not played one down of college football to be ranked number 13 on this list now when you look at Dylan and where he's at we've seen the film we know how talented he is he's probably the most talented quarterback to ever step foot from high school onto campus at the University of Nebraska Lincoln but there are some questions as it surrounds this Husker team can those young receivers can the Jaylen Lloyds and the Malachi Coleman's and the Alex Bullock get open enough and then Isaiah ner coming in is there enough on the perimeter to really take advantage of those passing talents that Dylan Rola possesses in his toolbx and what about Marcus sanderfield some people aren't sold on him in terms of the future as the offensive coordinator for Nebraska how does that all blend together I think over there in huskerland but we see his talent on tape I just I cannot rank him any higher when than this this is the absolute top I think that I could put Dylan considering he has yet to play a down of college football and who knows where it's going to go at a place like Nebraska that maybe hasn't had the most offensive success the last few years as well aan cak Manis Ethan Garber were also kind of in this group with Dylan Rola Athan even though he's got some big 10 experience it's been very hitter Miss for aan at Minnesota and he's going to a place in ruter is he reuniting with his former offensive coordinator absolutely great thumbs up but when you look at ruter they are as tough in Blue Collar as it comes okay they are as run the football and play great defense as it comes that is the strength of ruter football you look outside on the perimeter and they might have as little Talent as anybody on the outside at wide receiver which is a concern now they might address that in the spring portal and it might look a little bit different when they sued up and put the pads on in the fall but as of right now you got a guy that's inconsistent at quarterback and Athan KC Manis you've got a really good run game I'm just not expecting a lot out of Athan I think Athan is a slight upgrade than what they had with Gavin whimet but still I look at the talent of Someone Like A Dylan riola what he's showing on tape I get it against high schoolers I understand but right now I believe that ceiling is higher actually in 2024 with Dylan at Nebraska than it is with aan over at ruers like you look at inconsistency on the field with aan what about inconsistent of just getting on the field and that's what you get with Ethan garbers over there at number 15 uh at UCLA the revolving door of quarterbacks did nothing to help anybody's confidence last year injuries played a part into that as well in Westwood with Chip Kelly now Deshawn Foster and Eric benmy has to really look at this situation and make Ethan the guy instill that confidence in spring so he can develop and this offense can continue to develop as they go into fall Camp 13 14 15 you could even go up to 12 there's a lot of chunks there's a lot of groups in here that kind of make it hard to rank Michigan and Maryland these are Edwards/Orji quarterback battles you could have up to 10 guys when all is said and done be involved combined in these quarterback battles like when you look at Maryland and Michigan you see two guys that were involved in the offense because of their ability to run the football both Billy Edwards and Alex orgy are players that I identified as should be the leaders in the clubhouse right now in College Park and in Ann Arbor Michigan right you could see MJ Morris the Young transman from NC State step in uh for the TPS you could see Jack Tuttle maybe for Michigan really EST Lish himself as the guy I don't know if I would have ranked them any higher right or even lower if they had those guys but there are big questions right now for the turps and the Wolverines uh no doubt about that it's just we've seen Billy do things right when Talia Tonga vioa went down we've seen him play in the Big 10 and actually we've seen him play pretty effectively as well I expect Michigan to be big time buyers in the spring quarterback transfer portal Market I Sullivan feel bad putting Brendan Sullivan at number 18 but just like my team power rankings put in Indiana all the way down at the bottom someone's got to be down at the bottom right and the bottom of the Big 10 is a whole lot better than say the bottom of the ACC right or the Big 12 or something like that that's where you're going to see this power two versus mid two versus group of five type of split you're going to see the bottom look a lot better I think in these power two conferences Brendan Sullivan played well this past season maybe you could put them at 16 and 17 versus kind of some of these Runners as well but I had a hard time putting Billy Edwards or Alex all the way at the bottom of the Big 10 Outro I'm sure I'm going to have some disagreements along the way so let me know in the comments below we're going to have some posts spring team and quarterback power rankings as well so stay tuned for that until next time I'm big tented
