from our NFL Network Newsroom in Los Angeles this is NFL game day kickoff presented by Best by what's up friends Brett Lewis here with the Super Bowl champion Michael Robinson one of the voices of the NFL on CBS and my path to the draft teammate Charles Davis welcome my friend great to have both of you in studio tonight for some football let's go real football man let's go I mean it's the third preseason game but it's football 11 on 11 for those guys trying to make the team real opportunity is perhaps what we're talk about here because we are not going to see starters for either team tonight but that does not mean that there is not some real drama going on on the field with cut down day CD just five days away here in the NFL for the Bears which young players do you feel like have an opportunity to kind of show up tonight make an impression well guys we saw Austin Booker their Edge rusher out of Kansas their fifth round pick he showed out last week had three sacks now let's see if he can stack together a second game and how about this guy Karan amaji let's go offensive tackle from Yale he is a project but he's one of those guys that's so pretty as a project that if you were on a diet you break it because you would take him all right there's no question about that so I want to see this guy go out and play a little bit I I know he's not going to be a starter when the season begins but down the road he could be that guy and Mike robon you played both positions I'm leaving you a quarterback and a running back talker oh you are you are leaving me a quarterback and a running back well first I'm going to start with the runner side of things uh veis Jones man I mean this kid uh first of all I'm falling in love with him from Hard Knock so he's a wide receiver out of Tennessee you can see him playing running back right here but to me it's because of his position flexibility this kid can can can hold a number of spots on a 53 man roster he can be your kick returner your pump returner one of your running backs one of your uh uh wide receivers a core special team or kickoff a pump return like all of these different spots I'm definitely watching to make sure or or looking to see how he does tonight and then the back up quarterback Tyson bent I mean uh this kid I know uh we're used to his dad and the arm wrestling and all of those things but uh this kid is a real contributor uh to this football team he he started four games last year went two and two uh when he was filling in for the starter but uh he's a real contributor to this to to this football team and uh CD he's actually good like he has some Talent he can throw the football I'm looking to see if he can take care of the football and make better decisions when he gets his opportunities tonight yeah he's no longer just right we had so much fun with his dad at the Senior Bowl and you know this kid come out a shepherd of West Virginia and turned down bigger offers ago his last year put a big yardage for the Rams there in Shephard that's that's in West by God Virginia as my father would say all the time but I'm glad you made that point Michael he's not a novelty now he's a legit quarterback and by the way if you're Ryan PS a GM the better he plays the more times your phone may ring from a contender down the road in case somebody needs someone in short order yeah and as you guys probably know by now Tyson spent the offseason grinding his absolute face off and trying to get better as he told us at the podium uh leading into this season a competitiveness instilled in part perhaps as you guys have mentioned by his arm wrestling champion of a father and speaking of down at the Senior Bowl when bent was there competing with some of the best players in the country fighting for that spot in the league well Tyson's dad showed our very own Tom pisero what true competitiveness really me you caught up here on the Bears and Chiefs as they get set to kick off preseason week number three from Arrowhead Stadium won't see Keenan Allen tonight but plenty of competition within that bears and Chiefs wide receiver cores that will take center stage tonight as you look at the Chiefs wide receiver core here Hollywood Brown down with an injury right now and some uncertainty about rasid Rice's availability zavier worthy of course the first round draft piic with all that speed and then we'll see how the rest of the group fills in behind them now we want to take you back out to the field there G field at Arrowhead Stadium where Jeffrey chadia joins us once again here let's talk about those receivers for the Chiefs a lot different look this year um what are the expectations for that group as we get closer to opening day there two weeks from tonight well the first thing is to be more consistent and to catch the football that was a big issue for this unit last year and you mentioned some of the names that have come in here R and they are excited about what these guys can do Hollywood Brown Xavier you're worthy I would add Justin Watson to that mix as well as somebody who was pretty much made his team but some big names on the cut line here who're going to be trying to make get jobs tonight mle Harman a guy who got the Super Bowl game-winning touchdown pass last year and then cadarius Tony who had a big pump return Super Bowl win two years ago but both these guys are really in a situation where they're fighting to to get a job whether they keep seven receivers or six receivers will dictate that but mcole Harman talked about this uh earlier in training camp and said this is going to be a very nerve-wracking time for him because he came in as a second round pick he's used to playing a lot now he's fighting for his life and it's going to be a big performance that will get him or Tony over the Finish Line Tonight the ball for the Chiefs obviously looking at the big hole left by leria sneed's departure going to the Tennessee Titans with such a success story as a fourth round draft pick Jeff but the Chiefs have drafted really well in the secondary in recent years uh how does that help to Quil any concerns about replacing sne well they have drafted well and they have a lot of players they like at that position guys like Jaylen Watson and Josh Williams and nazy Johnson the problem is they can't keep guys healthy all these guys have either missed time or been inconsistent during training camp it's become pretty frustrating for defensive coordinator Steve spagnolo because he wants to nail that down it really determines what they do with Trent McDuffy and he talked about how they he can't control injuries but they got to get this figured out now because the season is coming fast and they want to be able to to hold down some receivers yeah no question all right so we'll keep an eye on some of those battles here tonight from Arrowhead Stadium thanks very much uh Jeffrey chadia live for how how did the WWE not get him he works the mic so well I feel like if you're a wrestler you just like if you're an armed wrestler or you like you kind of just have to have that kind of voice you know what I mean did did Tom do you guys proud or or does he disappoint you every day from that I mean he disappoints me every day in a variety of ways I would like to mention here not to to my own horn that was my idea Tom and I were in a bar the night before that we ran into uh the agent for Tyson B and and they ran into his dad and I was like you know what you should do you should destroy Tom on national TV and interestingly he was like that is a great idea so that is exactly what we did and for me to watch Tom just get pummeled even you know by one of the greats to do it I mean it was just really something I take a lot of satisfaction in yeah and I mean it's it's it's clear that when he says welcome inside with the Insiders he means uh in no way shape or form the inside of a gym um okay so let's talk trades because we had some today Ian and including a big one in the NFC East what do you got for us Washington commanders were making moves today uh first we'll start with the player they sent away Jan doson the former first round receiver drafted of course under the previous regime someone who was thought to be competing the number two receiver spot for the commanders was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles an interdivision trade not as rare as they used to be they do happen but did get sent to the Eagles so the trade was doson and a five for a three and a couple of seventh rounders and of course this does make you think just based on the value that he may have been on the roster bubble for Washington okay well if the new coaching staff sort of decided that maybe this guy doesn't fit what they do the Philadelphia Eagles said this guy fits what we do he will now come in and compete for the number a three receiver spot for the Eagles some fresh legs and a fresh start for doson that of course was not the only thing that the Washington commanders did today they also made a kicker trade who does not love a kicker trade so they traded for Kade York the former Cleveland Browns draft pick uh he now lands for a conditional seventh goes to the commanders to jump in that kicker mix uh okay let's also move to the Atlanta Falcons on defense where they've already been making headlines the last couple of days with the additions of Justin Simmons and of course Matthew judon now locking up one of their own in AJ Terell that's right a big time move for the Atlanta Falcons AJ Terell agreed to terms and has now signed a massive contract extension 4-year deal $81 million so more than $20 million per year for HHR a homegrown product in Atlanta native and I know someone this organization was thrilled to pay in someone who certainly has earned it $ 53.8 million effectively fully guaranteed in this deal done by athletes first agent David Metta and Trey Smith he is the second highest paid corner in history and you're right the Falcons have spent a ton of money on defense this one one of their own previously it was Matthew judon of course brought him in at his salary around S7 or so million dollar then Justin Simmons the former all proo brought him in the Atlanta Falcons defense not messing around there we go [Music] for for for [Music] speech speech fore for speech to
