hello viewers welcome back to ssn24 today we have an exciting update from the US Open 2024 Carolina machova of the Czech Republic has secured her place in the semi-finals for the second consecutive year and her path to victory was anything but ordinary muchova currently ranked world number 52 delivered an impressive straight sets victory over Brazil's beatric Hadad Maya winning 6 to1 6-4 with this win she advances to face either world number one and 2022 US Open Champion IG swotch or the United States Jessica Pula for a spot in the finals but what truly made headlines wasn't just her performance during the second set after taking a 2 to1 lead machova had to make a Sprint to the bathroom catching everyone off guard when asked about it after the match the 28-year-old said it was weird I had a problem that I wouldn't like to to comment on sorry if I Disturbed anybody but I really didn't have any other choice despite this unexpected Interruption machova remains one of the most consistent players in the tournament not having dropped a single set so far along the way she has defeated top players including two-time Grand Slam Champion Naomi Osaka and French Open finalist Jasmine palini this marks her fourth Grand Slam semi-final appearance her journey hasn't been without challenges last year machova suffered a wrist injury that kept her out of the competition until June however she has bounced back stronger and her performance this year is proof of that resilience in her match against Hadad Maya she dominated early saving two break points in the opening game and swiftly taking a 5 to zero lead in the first set although Hadad Maya made a slight recovery in the second set machova stayed calm sealing the wind in straight sets Hadad Maya who made history as the first Brazilian woman to reach the US Open quarterfinal since 1968 showed grit but struggled with illness late in the match she called for a trainer when she was down 3 to five but only managed to win one more game before machova claimed the victory as machova looks ahead to her semi-final Clash she has a mixed record against her potential opponents she's won one of her three previous encounters with swch though she lost to the world number one in this year's French Open final as for Pula machova faced her just before the US Open and was defeated in Cincinnati despite these challenges muchova remains positive she expressed her excitement after her quarterfinal win saying I'm happy to be in the semi-finals because I wouldn't have thought that before the tournament will karolina machova make it to the finals and potentially claim her first US Open title stay tuned as we bring you more updates from the US Open 2024 thank you for watching ssn24 don't forget to like subscribe and hit the notification Bell for more sports updates
