What the death of Rebecca Cheptegei reminds us about women‘s lives

so today I just heard about the murder of an Olympic Athlete someone who competed in the Paris Olympics this is a tragic result of domestic violence and I wanted to use this as a time to come on here and remind you that in case you didn't know the home is the most dangerous place for a woman the United Nations compiles a report on female homicides globally and in this part of the document you can see that overall homicides mainly impact men however if we look a little bit more closely at the data we find that women make up a dispropor amount of the victims when it comes to intimate partner homicides or homicides by a family member so women are much more likely to be killed by an intimate partner than they are by a stranger what's still devastating about this is that even though women may be make up a smaller amount of homicide victims annually globally the problem is that the majority of the time that they are being murdered they're being murdered by someone that they're supposed to love and trust someone who's supposed to care for them that's why the home is the most dangerous place for a woman
