When it comes to Ohio State dotting, the I is about as good as it gets. It's usually reserved for an upper classman who plays the sousaphone over the years though, there have been 15 non band members who received the honor of dotting the Eye of Script, Ohio Woody Hayes did it back in 1983. Buster Douglas was in 1990 Jack Nicholas received the honor in 2006. Earl Bruce was the most recent in 2016 when it comes to Ohio State football. Archie Griffin is Buckeye royalty. He's the only two time Heisman trophy winner in college football. So it's only fitting that number 45 will become the 16th non band member to dot The I. Not too many guys get to dot The I and that's why what makes that extremely special and, and uh appreciate the university, the band and everybody involved uh for giving me the opportunity to do that. And tomorrow in a packed Ohio stadium, Archie will get the honor of dotting the eye winning the Heisman trophy. Not once but twice may never be broken, but for someone like Archie who bleeds scarlet and gray dotting the eye is as good as it comes. It's gotta be one of the top ones that I've ever had. I mean, when you think about it, uh, not many people have done that and Archie is the first to admit this all has caught him by surprise. I'm, I'm truly honest. I mean, when I found out, uh, it was really a shock to me. I happened to be over at the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility and, and the, uh, tu of players, uh, came over and gave me a letter and, uh, they caught me by surprise and, and, and, uh, I was really, really shocked and, uh, I'm honored to be able to dot The I and Archie has been thinking about what this moment will be like. He says he'll be ready to honor the band in return. You know, I've thought about it and I'm, I'm, I'm trying to figure out, I remember Earl Ward the Fedora. Uh, and I don't, I don't know what I'm gonna put on my head but it, it'll be something in, in honor of the band for allowing me to dot The, I, you're honored, I'm truly honored.
