34. The time right now, we are inching closer and closer to the November election and eventually a transfer of power between President Joe Biden and either former President Trump or Vice President Harris will happen, whoever wins will have to go through an electoral vote certification. But after what happened during the last vote on January 6th, 2021 many are feeling anxious and Andy joins us now. All right, we're talking about homeland Security stepping up their efforts to make sure that everything goes the way it's supposed to go. That's right. This is pretty significant news, a big deal for the first time. Homeland Security has designated the certifying of electoral votes as a national special security event. So what that means is that it will get the same level of security as a presidential inauguration, the Olympics and the Super Bowl. And I looked for into this decision and it appears it was made after a request from DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and that is according to the US Secret Service. This announcement comes just a day after the first presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. And you may remember it was during that debate on Tuesday where Trump claimed that the violence on January 6th 2021 was a result of Mayor Bowser, former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi denying his request to send in the National Guard members to protect the Capitol. That is something the mayor denied Tuesday night. We reported that yesterday and it was backed up by the final report by the bipartisan Select committee to investigate the January 6th attack. So it's determined there was no evidence to support Trump's claim. Wisdom. And Alison Annie. Thank you so much.
