yo what's up guys this is dbrown with track heads and I'd like to welcome you to another episode of trackhead so just received some news that Sydney McLaughlin is going to be running in the diamond League final which is going to be in Brussels September 13th right um she's supposed to be doubling up running the 400 and 200 and it's kind of interesting because I think I I I was under the assumption that after the Olympics her season was going to be done you know um she never formally announced it but then she doesn't normally formally announced anything right um Communication in terms of when she's running where she's running hasn't necessarily been the best throughout the years and if we do know she's running it's separated about like months at a time she doesn't really race too often so I think this is a a very huge treat because it's probably the most that she's competed um in such a long time but with that being said it makes me think right you're speaking about someone who's very strategic very technical um between her and her coach and I personally believe that we are on American record watch for the 400 met Dash I don't think that she's going to follow through with it being the double I don't think that she's going to be running both the 400 and the 200 because that's kind of like a tall order I'm not sure which one comes first if she's going to run you know the 200 first or and then it's going to go to the 400 I'm not sure how much R she's going to have in between is it going to be a 2-day situation if it's a two-day situation then maybe she can get it if it's a just a one-day situation and it's super close I I'm not sure maybe they may change the schedule just for her right we don't know um I think that we're on American record watch um because as we saw at the beginning of the year she went 48.7 seconds in a very windy New York right if you ever watch if you watch any of the interviews on that particular day with any other athletes whether it was through flow track whether it's through cyia mag whether it's through a random interviewer running whoever you could barely hear a lot of the athletes because the wind was just so either the microphones were trash right or it was just that windy and um a lot of athletes were complaining about the win on the backstretch and the fact that she still went 487 and she was this close to Breaking Sonia Richard's uh American record is crazy I think she want that to be gone and really it makes no sense because she the the the the rate in which she's dropping this world record um and the 400 meter you know 400 meter American record isn't gone says a lot um I think this would be the first of many uh of a series of plans that she has in her mind of the kind of shape that she feel like she needs to be in in order to break this record um and and and and especially the world record right if your goal maybe as you're leaving this Sport and transitioning to leave this sport is to break the world record the American record has to go first and I think that she's going to be dwelling in the 48s for quite some time and um I think that she has the ability to do it now my major question is also this is a diamond League final we have had three athletes this year go 48 seconds three or more we actually had a lot of athletes go 48 seconds we have the Olympic champion Paulino mar mar Mary Paulino from Dominican Republic I don't know how to say a first name pardon me we have salwasser from bahra um we have na natal either Natalie or Natalya I think it's Nat Natalia casar if I'm saying that correctly I think she's from Poland also is in the 48 we have um ad Lake she's gone 49 like she's going to have plenty of competition plenty of competition in this 400 to really challenge her to see where she's going to be at it could be very well she does not go 40 uh that it could be very well she doesn't necessarily win the race but she's still going to win because she may break the American record and mind you when she ran that American record no one was close to her the next fact time was like 50.5 it was not very close so with that being said it's just like I'm I'm very interested to see what kind of shape that she's going to be in because I assume that she's been training this whole time she gave her body a chance to recover I mean she did break the world record twice and been a place that no other woman has ever been at really really impressive um then you transition to the 200 and I think one of her goals that will of course feed into the 400 is to get and is to run 21 seconds I think she realizes that this is necessary in order to run 47 one day and possibly break the world record because if we you know again if we break down the the just forget about like coaching just the common sense the faster you are the easier it's going to be for you to run your splits in the 400 assuming you still have the strength and obviously she does she's coming from a 400 meter hurdle background and we know that she's strong I mean she showed it um really really well um what's it going to take for her to go 48 um it's going to take splits of 23 and 25 I think if she's able to push the pace and I think this is is going to be good because when she ran the 400 meter hurdles War Record She Went 239 right and in my opinion if she goes anywhere between let's say 23 229 and like 232 that's a sweet spot and if she's able to finish up in like 25 of five or 254 or faster that's the record right there so I think she has to be very C calulated in where she's going to be at for that first part of the run as we saw in paulino's run Paulino I think crossed through the first 20 like 228 and was able to finish up in like 25 super super super low to to to get that 282 or 281 that she ran at the Olympic Games plus the track was pretty fast I assume Brussels is fast as well we're going to hope that it's good weather because that makes for good television so um definitely my prediction is that she's going to break the American record um and if she runs the 200 end up ends up running the 200 and I assume that's also going to be great competition there I'm not sure if Gabby has shut down her season I doubt Britney Brown Britney Brown just came off a running 220 I think her goal is to run 21 anything 219 just to show like I have the speed needed and that they can have that data going back into next year where the meat will be in Tokyo and they'll have plenty of time to run and and do the things that necessary that they need to do a lot of people are experimenting during this part of the season they won the Olympic Games the Olympic Games came and went let's see the things that we need to do to be successful uccessful in these um to be successful and experiment a little bit while we're in this greater shape so very interesting to see I'm very excited to see what she's going to do um and like I said that's my prediction so we going to see what happens but um if you guys have any other predictions let me know in the comment below do you think she's going to break it do you think she's not going to break it I personally think she's going to break it she going probably going to give me like a 485 smooth 485 486 dip right under it and and even if she gets second I got the record is in my name I have the word record I have the American record I have a 212 200 to my name and if she's and if she's feeling grimy if she's feeling like real grimy and like 2026 in good shape she might decide hey I want to run the 200 and give and give us a 216 215 she beat Gabby before preseason early in the season in like May so I think it's definitely possible but you know like I said we'll see um I want thank you guys for watching this is dbrown with trackhead peace
