hi everybody Welcome to my channel hit the books my name is AMU and in this channel I will share some of my research on different topics such as animals Science History math computers and so on please leave a comment and subscribe my videos if you like my video don't forget to share it with your besties let's begin in this video we're going to learn about one of the most intellectual animal the elephant when you look at yourself in the mirror you understand that beautiful face you see in the mirror is your own face right but do you think only humans have this ability actually not including humans there are only eight species on the entire planet which can demonstrate this self- recognition elephants are one of them now let's talk about their evolution It is believed that 55 million years ago we had 300 species of elephants on Earth now let's talk about their types but over the period we lost all the species of elephants and as of today only two main species of elephants REM remain African elephants and Asian elephants African elephants originated in Africa about 1.5 million years ago while the Asian elephant originated in Africa and migrated to Asia now let's talk about their differences Asian and African elephants have many physical differences including their size ears heads runs and feet size Asian elephants are smaller than African elephants weighing about 2,000 Less on average years African elephants have large fan-shaped ears that are set to resemble the African continent while Asian elephants have smaller rounded ears that resemble the Indian subcontinent this is why Asian elephants are also called Indian elephants heads African elephants have rounded heads with one hump while Asian elephants have more rounded foreheads with two arms trunks African elephants have two fingers at the tip of the trunks for picking things up while Asian elephants have one feet African elephants have three to Nails on each back foot while Asian elephants have four skin African elephants have Los a skin that looks more like wrinkled than Asian elephants tusks only some male Asian elephants have tusks while both male and female African elephants grow tusks Asian elephants also have smaller trunks than African elephants now my favorite part of the video it is about baby elephants first of all a baby elephant is called a calf they come out of their mother's tummy after 22 months amazing ly elephant calves can stand within 20 minutes of being born and can walk walk within 1 hour after 2 days they can keep up with the her just like a teeth get replaced with permanent teeth as we grow elephants are born with temporary incisors also called tusks that are replaced with permanent ones between six and 13 months of age Cals take lose to their mothers they drink their mother's milk for at least 2 years sometimes longer do you know how much milk they drink each day 3 gallons which means 50 glasses of milk every day my goodness a baby elephant can weigh as much as 200 lb or 90 cages at Birth too much weight isn't it don't even imagine lifting the baby the calves likes to be touched Often by its mother or relative just like we love to play in the dirt baby elephants are also like to roll and play in the mud scientists say it's good for the elephant skin but our parents don't allow us to do the same ah man now let's talk about the adults do you know elephants are the only living largest land animals on Earth standing up to 3 m high and weighing up to 6,000 cages on average and can live up to 7 60 to 70 years do you know what is the favorite food tree B they also eat grasses small plants bushes fruit twigs and Roots some important facts are one elephant uses vibrations to speak they communicate by trumpet calls touch body language and scent they also send long-distant messages through low pitch sounds that humans can barely here two elephants can eat up to 18 hours and 150 cages of food every day three herds are led by a matriarch The Matriarch is typically the oldest and largest female four like humans are left or right-handed elephants can favor their left or right Tusk you you can usually spot which one they favor as one Tusk will be smaller with more wear and tear the tusks are incredibly important as they use them to gather food move and lift objects strip te Tre walk dig holes during droughts and defend themselves five an elephant's trunk weighs 400b but can become things as small as a single grain of rice six they are not terrified of anything except honey bees now it's quiz time post your answers in the comments question one elephants are the largest living land animals is this true or false question two how many hours a day do elephants spend eating question three what is a baby elephant called how long do elephants live for and finally the fifth question in which continents can you find wild elephants thanks for watching folks I hope you like my video please leave a comment share and subscribe see all of you in my next video bye
