we want to turn to this storm that's brewing in the Central Pacific this is tropical depression 1 SE it's now formed into tropical storm hon we're going to bring in our Carly Yoshida tracking the system from the hurricane tracking Center and Carly this storm has gotten stronger it has gotten a bit stronger than what we saw uh later or earlier this morning as of 11:00 a.m. here is the latest update from the National Hurricane Center we now have a name it is tropical storm H in our Central Pacific Waters and from this morning it has moved about 100 miles closer to the state right now at about 885 Mi east Southeast of Hilo with sustained winds of 40 mph and you can see this forecasted track stays pretty consistent with the Storm Center moving south of the state there but we will potentially see those impacts as soon as Saturday at least some advisory so right now we have a weather alert day set up for Sunday that could be extended potentially to Saturday as well as if this forecast holds you can see by Sunday making some of that landfall with wind rain flooding potential and of course some dangerous surf conditions Sunday peaking with Winds of 70 mph good news is though we do have those Breezy trade winds in our local weather here and that might help to break that storm apart or stop it from developing even further with that high pressure system wind shear that's all going to break up the storm also cooler temperature Waters near the state because it was brewing and forming in hotter Waters so now it's going to be moving over some cooler Waters here's a look at that American model forecast you can see like I said Saturday might be the day where we start to see some of those impacts on the big island definitely some surf advisories will be sent out in the next day or two so anywhere from Saturday all the way through Tuesday of next week cuz it will work its way with impacts moving down the island chain and even some moisture to follow behind it so stay in touch with us we will be updating you at hourly and daily as the days go on you can even download our free Island weather app we've been updating the stories and sending push alerts straight to your mo mobile device stay in tune with kitv.com as well as we continue this tropical storm coverage
