My Thoughts On The PWHL After It’s Inaugural Season

hello and good evening today it's Friday July 12th 2024 obviously it has been a very long time since my last video um after I'm done filming or at the end of this video I mean I will discuss that a little bit at the end of the video but in the meantime I thought it'd be nice to sit down and film a video sharing my thoughts on the professional women's hockey league and in my opinion it's nice to see a women's hockey league finally getting some traction I mean there was the National Women's Hockey League then that didn't work out and then there was the Pro Hockey Federation and I and I think the reason that ended up uh what's the word to to best describe it I think the reason why the phf didn't end up working out and ended up becoming the pwhl instead was I think it was due to um The Players wanting to unionize but you have a players union similar to the nhlp but uh if I'm wrong on that feel free to correct me but anyway um the first season of the pwl was interesting I mean they had some there were some things about it that were interesting number one I found it fascinating that they had teams in New York Minnesota Toronto Ottawa Montreal and Boston but the teams were just called Ottawa Boston Toronto Minnesota New York and Ottawa or Ottawa Montreal Toronto Boston New York and Minnesota no team names but I do hear that supposedly for the second season of The pwl the teams will actually have team names so they won't be called pwhl Ottawa or pwhl Minnesota anymore which I think is great um that was interesting another thing too I found it interesting that they decided oh well if your team scores a short-handed goal well your player gets to come back out on the ice I I don't know how I feel about that rule but I'm more inclined to give it a chance in a brand new league like this rather than a long established League such as the Canadian hockey league the a HL or definitely the National Hockey League um but I don't know how I feel about that I I I mean it is it is an interesting rule it definitely throws a wrench into teams um if they can't defend when they're on the power play if it costs them a goal it really it costs them more than a goal it cost them their power play too which is definitely different from what I'm used to um one thing I noticed about the pwhl this year and I'm going to alternate this between a couple other photos just to change things up a little bit and the other thing I want to do is give a quick shout out to the New York pwl team because there's just something about the color of this uniform that I really really liked now maybe I'm a bit of a simpleton but I'd love to eventually see the New York team switch to a color scheme more in line with the New York Rangers I mean it'd be kind of cool if there was a ladies Broadway blue shirts on Ice team but there's just something about this color that is really unique and eye-catching and that's also another thing about the pwl that really caught my eye in the first season was that I felt like there was a lot more variety of uniform colors I mean I loved watching Minnesota wear purple I I don't exactly love Boston's uniforms I think it's kind of weird that they're wearing dark green and silver but you've got a team wearing green you've got a team wearing purple you've got this tealish color I think it's more of a teal for New York um let me just check something sorry I'm having a bit of a brain F here but Montreal I noticed they had an off-white away uniform and I there was quite a bit of uniform variety for a first year league that I thought was actually pretty cool I mean you got this really nice color here for New York you've got purple for Minnesota I think I'm in agreeance with you fans out there calling for the Utah NHL team to eventually adopt purple as their color instead of black I mean I think the light blue would really stand out if they make their Mountain blue color their primary color down the road but I think I agree with with the folks that are saying that hey it would be really nice to see one team Embrace purple and that's one thing I really enjoyed about the Minnesota pwl team this year is that they wore purple and from what I've heard supposedly they're planning on sticking with the purple well I'm in favor of that I'm I mean I'm good with that I think purple's a very criminally underrated color and underused color in professional hockey so yeah but yeah I really enjoyed the variety of uniform colors and the uniforms for the most part were very tasteful that was something else that made me very impressed yeah they were all just had the city name on the front of them diagonally like this yeah they were very simple to say the least but one thing about the pwhl I thought in their first season most of the uniforms were actually pretty decent which was a pleasant surprise um but the other thing I liked was I thought it was good quality hockey and I I thought it was pretty good to watch there were a lot of times where throughout the pwl season I I you know I'm scrolling through on my guide and I see a pwhl game on and I put it on I'm like hey this is actually not too bad and that's another thing about the PW H that I liked in its first season was that it there was a lot of games on TV and I noticed that I think there were still a number of games that were from the phf the Pro Hockey Federation that were televised but I've never seen a women's league with so many games readily Ava available to watch on television and that was something that I was very impressed with and then the other thing too was that I really liked that the proessional Women's Hockey League had a lot of games on at times where there was no NHL games to watch where there was no football to watch and say there'd be a Sunday afternoon where it's like oh well there's nothing on TV oh well there was a UFL game but that just ended I'd look on my guide and I'd go wow there's a women's game on okay well I'll put that on and I I was impressed with what I saw and I hope that this league is finally the one that sticks and I hope that this league and speaking of the United Football League I'm hoping that the pwl and the UFL are here to stay for good no more changing leagues no more nwhl to phf to pwl hopefully from now on it's just the pwhl and in the ufl's case no more XFL no more usfl just the United Football League from here on out but um also I'm hoping that this league doesn't do too much expansion too soon I hope that for at least another season or two they get the existing six franchises their own vers their own original six established once they do that then okay if you want to expand I think that'd be terrific and I think that's part of why they had a number of games in places like Detroit because I think it was I don't think I I I'm going to argue and say that I know that it was them testing the waters for other potential cities to expand to because I think I think with the p whl's first season they did a very good job and I think it's not a matter of if it's only going to be a matter of when they decide to open the floodgates for other cities to get their own teams and Ice their own pwhl teams in their cities as well I mean for example I have a feeling a pwl team would do well in Vancouver I'd like to see the pwl actually put some teams in places where there isn't NHL hockey like for example maybe a pwhl team somewhere like Portland Oregon or I don't know uh maybe a team in Milwaukee Wisconsin or I'm what I'm saying is I'm kind of hoping that if they do when they do eventually expand I hope that they go to some places that don't have existing NHL teams I think it'd be nice to see some other cities get a chance to enjoy a professional hockey team as well maybe they're not NHL teams but I I still think that the women's teams are quite good to watch too and I think that if they ever did get a team here in Vancouver where I live I would I would definitely go check out a game I would I I was that impressed with what I saw this season and if I if I had a chance to go to a professional women's game I would give it a chance I would but yeah I mean that was something that was very impressive as well was the fact that you know what you could actually find multiple games from this league on TV all the time where you don't always get that with the NHL and it was really nice where if there was a like say a Sunday afternoon at 700 p.m. eastern time for Pacific on a Sunday well there's no NHL game on well I could flip on and watch a pwhl game we're on a Saturday afternoon it's like 12:00 and there isn't any televised games on TV till 400 p.m. Pacific Time 7 Eastern well at 12:00 there's a professional women's gamee it's like wow okay I'll watch that yeah I thought that was really great and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this league from here on out and hopefully hopefully it's going to stick around for good but also speaking of the pwhl as I said earlier I have heard that supposedly they're planning on finally having team names for these teams not just Ottawa versus Montreal or New York versus Minnesota or Boston versus Toronto they'll actually have team names now there was an initial list of teams that team names that came out like there was one called Ottawa alert I mean I I hope that if they go with that please go with the plural name Ottawa alerts because there was actually an historic women's team from about a century ago that was called the Ottawa alerts that's something that's kind of annoying me in recent years about some team names that are coming out they're not plural I mean obviously you're not going to call the Seattle Kraken the Seattle Krakens but in the case of the Utah NHL team when Utah eventually gets a team name of their own it's probably going to be the Utah Yeti but that's a name where I think it has to be plural Utah yetis and it's some of these team names I I really I prefer plural versus non- plural so if Ottawa calls themselves the alerts Hallelujah I think that's an awesome Choice there was even another name suggested or that they were considering the Toronto torch why is it not uh Toronto torches why would you just call it singular torch as in one torch see I don't get that like if you're calling your team like say I don't know the sagos spirits or seos Spirits instead of seos spirit in that case singular Works in my opinion but if you got a name like say I don't know the Montreal Canadians and they called themselves the Montreal Canadian like to me that's silly obviously there's some names that can't be plural like if you call Tampa Bay the Tampa Bay Lightnings I mean it sound it's it's silly because lightning is the proper way to say it it's not Lightnings it's not Avalanches it's singular Avalanche but in but in the cases of the Ottawa alert or the Toronto torch I'm glad that they ditched those names because ottawa's in ottawa's case it should be Ottawa alerts and in Toronto's case it should call themselves at least the Toronto torches personally I think they could come up with a better name than torches but hey it is what it is but anyways folks um I'm going to call it a wrap at this point uh in terms of discussing my thoughts on the uh WHL now to get in a little bit about an update about me uh truth is guys I I have been hinting at it in my Discord server lately but um I got a lot of things going on in my personal life right now and I just haven't had the time to sit down and make videos as much as I'd like so I apologize for the complete lack of videos in recent months but unfortunately it's probably going to be the norm at least for the next few months let's just say I've got a lot of things that I've got to deal with in the next few months here um I'm not going to get into what it is because there's some things that I just I don't want to be talking announcing to the world let's just say that there's you know in my own personal life there's a lot of things I got to deal with in the coming months here so I'm going to be very Mia from the channel more likely than not and if you guys on my Discord um I'm probably have one or two more things to upload and then I'm going on Hiatus for a long time I'm I'm just not going to have the time to sit down and run the Discord I'll try to keep uploading some Concepts I did receive some Concepts on the Discord from one of you guys and you know who you are um I will try to find some time to get those ready to upload but I'm not going to guarantee that it's
