Husker247 3-minute drill: Raiola shines, offense hums and Blackshirts dominate

Michael Bruns and Brian christofferson Husker 247 after Nebraska season opening 40-7 win over utap and lots to take away from this one obviously the story of the day start with the quarterbacks Dylan Rola not bad yeah I I would say um it went as well as you could imagine for a debut I mean there's got to be a lot of nerves he admitted that um he also said his dad Dominic wisely wore the sunglasses so he couldn't tell if he was like crying or not uh when they shared a moment before the field I'm sure it was an emotional day for the whole family but he comes out there and he throws 19 of 27 even had a drop or twoo like he he threw a beautiful ball on the first drive of the game that naor uh Isaiah neor had go through his hands he'd make up for it we'll get to that uh but I just thought he was really composed you know like in the two-minute drive just before the half um he seemed like he was in complete control he hits Jamal banks for a touchdown and then even uh switching the play at the line of scrimmage on that long EMT Johnson run you could tell he had kind of dissected what the defense was doing remembered his film study and he called the right play so I thought it was a really good performance two touchdowns thrown no interceptions he was out of the game by four minutes left in the third quarter you couldn't ask for much more and you have to say his Supporting Cast which you could talk about helped a lot yeah you you saw the benefits of adding Jamal Banks and Isaiah N Out of the transfer portal I mean two two big bodied 6'4 wide receivers ner made a great catch and run uh for for the first long touchdown and then uh kind of the the jump ball back shoulder Fade to Banks um you know right before halftime that that really kind of showed off what both of those guys can do and talking to the running backs after the game today they both or basically everyone we talked to there's four of them now uh mentioned that the threat of the passing game and how much that really kind of opened up things for them in the running game and you saw Nebraska really kind of wear down utap and play complimentary football what a concept yeah it was it was a it was just a solid win it was like an old school Husker win and the black shirts played well uh they only gave up 205 yards uh by game's end uh they had one drive where they got uh off their you know they were off their skates a little bit and I mean UT played fast I've never seen a team almost snap the ball as fast as they did that series it was three snaps and the ball was no they didn't go out of B at all but it only took like 30 seconds it seemed like and they went 60 yards but right after that they settled down uh Nebraska defense got the big safety when it was 7 to7 uh that really kind of springboarded the Huskers the rest of the way and uh it was just a solid performance by them and really for the team as a whole they'll definitely take this one for an open opener going into Colorado next week the Buffalo are in town next week and a much awaited and anticipated uh game under the lights it's about to get Rowdy a little rowdy um so keep it locked in on Husker 247 from all the coverage from this win and leading into next week's game against the Buffs
