[Music] hey guys welcome to underthe Art Sports I'm Eric Hobs and right now it's time to talk about Drew Pine the quarterback out of the transfer portal coming to missou before we begin please do us a favor subscribe to our YouTube channel like this video if you're so inclined and leave us a comment what do you think about this guy also find us on Facebook on Instagram and on X all right now this is something that you know for missou fans maybe not following offseason happenings this may seem like kind of a what why does Missouri need a quarterback and we'll get there there is a need all right but Drew Pine six foot tall 190 pounds began his career at Notre Dame then transferred to Arizona State for the 2023 season he uh well it an interesting case he got hurt didn't really play much in 2020 2 3 and then for this current semester transferred back to Notre Dame but not for football strictly academic he was 15 credit hours Short of finishing his degree so he's a Notre Dame just finishing that up all right and then he will join the Tigers right after graduation from Notre Dame in the summer June time frame now class of 2020 in high school he was a highly rated fourstar consens type Rivals had him one number 118 I think 119 so that type of fourstar offer list was pretty much everybody all right um you know and he was effective he had one season 2022 where he got extended playing time and he did well he won 8-2 as a starter for Notre Dame 4- one against top 25 competition got the stats kind of scrolling across the bottom there for you dude was effective all right so yeah this is some somebody who is a big get for Missouri yeah again with the with his situation there's no there's no telling who else was in contact with him although this seems like a perfect fit for a while I I didn't see any sort of rumors about Pine that didn't involve Missouri so offer list as far as what kind of game he has well he's 6' tall so he's not that big but he is mobile enough a little bit like Brady cook in that regard where kind of Ls you to sleep not looking like a a big running threat and then he'll just take off I don't think he's quite as fast as Brady cook but he is a tough enough Runner and he's fast enough to kind of surprise guys he had yeah he had what about just south of of 50 carries I believe in 2022 you know it's it's something that well it adds to his game let's we'll say that as far as when he's throwing the football he has the NFL arm strength he's known for his accuracy in particular on the shorter intermediate routes which let's face it that's something that Brady cook at times was not pinpoint Pine is a little more accurate now as far as what this means for Missouri I've mentioned a couple of comparisons to Brady cook that's more as a reference I don't expect Pine to come in here and really challenge Brady cook for the starting spot although if he's better he's better right this became an emergent need a quarterback because Sam Horn had his Tommy John surgery you'll remember about a year ago he had a couple of outings for the baseball team had the uh the forearm injury that was kind of the Forerunner as it often is to Tommy John surgery here we are he had it so to Sam Horn's on the shelf for the 2024 season right who's the backup well now you're looking at Drew Pine as your backup and maybe he goes in and challenges Brady cook we'll see that'd be a great problem for drinks to have at worst you have a serviceable backup and my gosh if the Freshman Aiden Glover can come in and learn as a true freshman from both Brady cook and from Drew Pine that is so much knowledge and experience for him to learn from that's invaluable and then you're setting yourself up for the 2025 season where you've got Pine and Glover potentially duking it out and you got a a quarterback competition ition honestly even in this coming season it's going to be a case of iron sharpening iron where they are competing against each other learning from each other it's a good thing for Missouri it is a match that just made too much sense Pine has three years of Eligibility remaining how does that work 2020 did not count Co year 2021 red red shirt year didn't count 2022 he played used that year of Eligibility 2023 well he was hurt he only played in two games so I believe he's getting an injury waiver that's I believe that's how it's working out be I don't see any other way to arrive at three years of Eligibility as uh Pete DL and everybody else has reported so yeah even if he doesn't start in 2024 you wouldn't expect that with Brady cook still being in town he's got the opportunity to start two seasons and that's if Aiden Glover can't beat him out so it's really stockpiling the the def quarterback and hey 2025 Sam Horn's back yeah Sam Horn versus Aiden Glover versus Drew Pine potentially and what if after this injury Sam Horn just decides you know what I'm gonna focus on one and if what if he decides baseball's the way to go we'll see this is a huge win for Missouri in terms of solidifying the quarterback position having that insurance policy in case something happens to Brady cook and it's building dep going forward that's all I've got for this video guys I'm I'm probably GNA try and do a video here about Dennis Gates and the disaster that's been the basketball season we got Cardinal stuff we got battle Hawks stuff we got CSC we're going to talk about the blues and their craziness but hey we're back after a break so keep it tuned here to under the arch Sports thanks for watching
