Tech Tip 031 | After Clicking a Phishing Link

hey everybody this week we're going to talk about what happens when you do click that link that you weren't supposed to or you might have clicked it maybe clicked on a wrong website all those things you're like did i did i do should i have done that did i yeah what do i do so what do you do when you think you might have clicked on a suspicious email gone to a bad site accidentally provided data maybe let hackers on your machine all these things what do you do well first thing you do is disconnect from the network if the hackers are on there or they've downloaded a virus the first thing it's going to want to do is see what it can get to so you disconnect from the network second thing call your id company immediately call it and ask what what should i do next they can sometimes come out and pick up the machine or if they're on site grab it you might take it to them either way you want to make sure that you protect and isolate it so it's only on that machine the next thing to do depending on if your machine is acting weird or slow is unplug it just turn it off immediately don't wait don't do start shutdown don't attempt to run any other applications just plug it from the wall and be done with it then get it involved so if you think you've done something your computer's running suspicious after you got an email that you may have clicked on you're not sure call it but disconnect everything first to keep everything else safe and then offline tools can be used to hopefully fix and get rid of viruses so that's it for this week talk to you next time
