that the Lord has allowed me to hang on to it and hold on to it come on in tell us how you doing hey charell hey mother battle how are you y'all come on in um I say it every week but I really need y'all to do it this time tag somebody text somebody tell somebody we are on the air I'm excited about uh the new study that we're embarking on and uh I really want to walk through it together we are better together we are walking through life together and so in this study that is already challenging your pastor I want you to go ahead and tag somebody take somebody tell somebody we are about to God bless you mother I know you can hear him um and I I I was just sharing it with somebody one of the newer members was saying ask me last week said so when you became the um Pastor Elder Scott became your assistant pastor I said uh I said no it was in the pandemic I said God made the announcement in the middle of a service and uh and that member said man y'all work so well together I thought he been an assistant pastor the whole time you been Pastor I said that's God that's God glory mother Harrison God bless you y'all come on in come on in come on in tag somebody text somebody tell tell somebody we are on the air we had a nice summer break I hope you all had a chance to uh gather yourselves and rest and relax I'm sure you didn't I'm sure while we were not doing um Bible study here I'm sure that you all were uh somewhere online in somebody else's Bible study because this is the Bible study crowd and if you weren't online I'm sure you were doing your own Bible study listen do you have your September read reading calendar do you have your September reading calendar do you have it do you have your devotional reading uh our daily bread do you have your devotional reading I see some likes over there Facebook I saw a like so maybe only one person has it but if you don't have the hard copy if you didn't get it Sunday or you were not here Sunday please make sure that you are getting your uh online on our website on our mobile app uh on Facebook you should see our daily reading calendar and listen it I know a lot of our lives have gotten hectic recently and uh we' hit or miss or sometimes with our reading but I do want to encourage you um I think there is growth for us independently individually and collectively as we are reading the same passages the Lord is ministering to us and I don't want you to miss out on that I don't want to miss out on that uh and it just Tak takes uh just a little more discipline just a little more discipline to make sure that in addition to your studies in addition to your reading and all the things that you are doing independently in addition to that uh to make sure that you are also corporately reading the same things with us and we have done a uh great job getting through the New Testament we have gotten through the New Testament and uh we are now headed towards the uh Old Testament and then at the beginning of the year we're going to start with Genesis but we're going to read some Psalms and Proverbs to close out this year and then uh prepare to start the new year in the Book of Genesis and then we going to walk through the Old Testament y'all we're just going to do it we're reading our Bible and praying every day we're reading our Bibles and we're fasting and there it is inevitable uh that we grow if we're going to do those things if we're going to commit to reading our BBL if we're going to commit to fasting and praying Facebook YouTube do you all know the days that the National Church has set aside for fasting days for us can you type it in the chat for me if you know the days that the Church of God in Christ uh has adopted for fasting and that we honor here at Greater Harvest collectively will you type those in the chat so I can see who are our Stellar students um do you know our day so we're going to we're going to read our Bible every day we're going to pray every day we're going to fast uh at least those two days and we okay lady K said Tuesday and Friday erene Adams said Tuesday and Friday come on come on the the women are on top of it y'all the women are on top of it uh so we're going to uh continue that as we go as we close out this year as we move forward into next year we're going to continue our reading plan together we're going to continue fasting and praying we're going to continue um studying God's word and looking for growth in our lives we're going to look for the fruit appearing in our lives so uh tonight we got a very special uh moment our well it's the kickoff of several special sessions um our assistant pastor or as mother B said co-pastor sister Pastor is here with us ELD Scott how are you sir all is well Pastor can't complain yes sir won't complain shall not complain God is good that sound like that's intentional Elder intentional yeah amen I want y'all to catch what the sister Pastor just put down he didn't say he didn't have something to complain about he just said I won't he said I'm not going to do it amen yeah yeah that's a that's a a uh that's a determination that's a a decision Vision so uh Elder I'm I'm grateful that you're here with us tonight uh we are starting our study on the ba of Satan amen and um this is a book that you're familiar with oh thank you thank you thank you help in the house help in the house thank you thank you thank you it's a book that you are familiar with I know your wife is here uh and she is definitely familiar with I think she may have been the first one to tell me about the book yeah uh so I know she's very familiar with it and uh and we we look for her to help us uh teach this assignment as we walk through the book and uh but but the bait of Satan for those of you who have it uh we are not doing a line by line teaching of it but we are going to uh spend some time focusing on the certain things in each chapter and we're not going to rush it we're not going to we're going to we're going to um I was thinking we would do it in one month but I realized uh in preparation that it's going to take more than a month and the reason I don't want to rush it is I believe that it's going to create fruit in us I believe it's going to expose the the tricks and traps of the enemy I believe it's going to empower Us by reminding us of of what God says to us so Elder Scott will you give us an opening prayer certainly B father God we thank you for your goodness and your mercy on this day oh God we ask now right now that you would create another a clean heart that you would renew in us a right spirit in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth now Lord we ask that you would pour out your spirit upon your people give your people an ear to hear what thus say the Lord oh god look upon those that may be on their way oh God breathe upon them oh God we ask that you would keep the live stream from buffering oh God that it would deliver your word with power and Clarity and we vow to give you the glory the honor and the praise and the mighty name name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and the people of God said amen amen amen amen thank you Elder listen I know this is the Ws the night crowd so I know you already have your Bibles we're going to look at as a part of uh our studies we're going to look at uh Luke 17 1-5 uh so if you'll just grab that and get ready for it uh the bake bait of Satan by John bav and um it is a very impactful book and it is very uh it it exposes uh a trick that the enemy uses or a weapon that the enemy uses to trap us into missing God's will for our lives uh and so Elder um in the introduction uh well Elder I I tell you what so you just told me something that I didn't know all right so you were talking about we we we were when elder Scott got here we were just kind of sharing some general comments about things about the book Thank You Elder uh robs for putting that on the screen thank you sir um and so Elder Scott was sharing some things with me about because he's a fisherman he's he loves to fish and he's very good at fishing and uh I believe at some point we're going to get Elder Scott to take the men like me who don't know how to fish take us out to the river give us a lesson all right but Elder was just sharing cuz it was raining and so just just those uh couple of points that you just made to me about the different sizes of ba and and how the rain affects the fish and all that would you just share the color well yes certainly Pastor thank you uh when it come to fishing uh fishes are very fincky mhm to catch different types of fish whether it's a bass a brim which is called a panish as well okay uh to catch a cie even the catch a catfish that we so love yeah uh they require different baits they require different sizes of lures uh believe it or not if you put a little skimpy piece of bait on a hook M the fish won't bite it okay it's not a it's not attractive to it it don't attract okay it don't appeal to them okay and so ah you preaching it it don't appeal to them so believe it or not a fish will swim past it and it is only when you put something that appeal to them will they bite it you will go fishing and sometime I know if you heard people say I fished all day and I didn't catch anything uhhuh that's because they don't know how to use different techniques fish fish are smart they they're smart I'm here to tell you yeah if you don't have the right color uhhuh of the fishing lure uhhuh and fishing lures come in various colors I mean pretty colors yeah I didn't get an opportunity to bring any tonight but I will okay okay and and so you will see the different color the different sizes yeah that you have to use uhhuh fishing take patience uh-huh it take patience yeah Elder Scott is preaching it take patience I don't know if you can he didn't had let him hear Elder Scott is preaching it take okay and so I see that same instrument that Satan uses when John bav talks about the bait of Satan now now something we can all relate to yes now we we we in houses that we did not build MH and and certainly we've all have experienced a mouse trap before right right and I'm jumping a mouse trap okay okay that mouse trap has to be baited with something that will appeal to that rodent mhm if it is not he going on about his business right it doesn't and it'll be days and you be wondering why the mous Trap hasn't been triggered yeah tripped yeah yeah exactly yeah cuz it don't appeal to him right right and and so we'll see on tonight that Satan do the very same thing to to the people of God yeah I want to I want to just point out not the lesson itself but I just want to point out the lesson of of Elder Scott because you could tell by what he just explained to us that he has studied and understood the science of fishing he has studied that which he is going to capture he he do you hear me I'm telling you he was preaching Do You Know The Enemy is studying you oh yeah Elder Scott said if you don't put the something attractive on the hook it's the fish is going to swim past it then he talked about what's the what's the difference between the lure and the and the bait what's what's what's the lure you have live bait you have crickets okay you know you have worms uh uh you have minnows which is a replica of a many fish uhuh and different species of fishes like different bait yeah said you won't catch a bass without a very large lure and I'll bring some I'll bring some and you'll see you but what you're really saying is uh that hunter that is trying to ens snare US capture us uses is debate that is proven to work on us certainly certainly certainly it is it is pro and so then strategically systematically we have an enemy that is trying to lure us into a place of captivity exactly and I don't I just want to say to y'all Elder Scott if you could hear him talking about it you can tell he knows what works on what fish so if Elder Scott who don't live in the water understands what to use to entice attract a fish Don't You Know The Enemy who has been trying to steal kill and destroy knows what to put in front of us to okay all right I feel a seron well well Pastor listen like you say this this this has to simmer MH MH the bait of Satan yeah to to uncover the tricks the the techniques that he bring to his people yeah see the world the world isn't moved by anything that the bait of Satan talks about right right it's it's those that are close to you those that are near you we always hear people talk about the church hurt mhm but it's greater than that it can be your pillow pal oh wow it can be your mother it can be your father it can be your Mo your brother your sister yeah your cousins yeah and and you just got to know you got to know what Satan is doing in this season right right and and this this this lesson this lesson is is exposing yeah the tricks of him yeah yeah absolutely let's let's read uh Luke 17 1-5 we just we're going to uh go back to that when we get to chapter one uh but Luke 17 uh starting at verse one then said he unto the disciples it is impossible but that offenses will come but woe unto him through whom they come it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea then that he should offend one of these little ones take heed to yourselves If thy brother trespass against thee rebuke him and if he repent forgive him and if he trespass against thee seven times in a day and seven times in a day turn again to thee saying I Repent Thou shalt forgive him and the Apostle said unto the Lord increase our faith and so here uh this scripture is is a central one in this study um and we'll we'll talk more about it in just a few minutes but uh in the introduction of the book If you have the book I think Elder Rob's already put the uh cover on the screen but Elder rers you could put it up again it is by John bav it is called the bait of Satan and at whatever point this Edition was um released it had already sold over half a million copies at that point and this I've had this book for quite some time so I'm I'm sure it's well beyond that uh but uh in the introduction it talks about what Elder Scott just gave us he just gave us a great introduction to the book and one of the things it mentions about Satan is that Satan is cunning and crafty and the scripture calls him cunning uh as well and so we must understand that the picture that Hollywood paints of Satan and picture that the picture that the cartoons paint of Satan uh is uh that's that's not the enemy you going to see that's that's not the enemy that's that's coming uh to deceive us and to lure us into Tobit but I do want to say uh ELD Scott in the um introduction I thought it was very uh interesting that he said offended people produce fruit amen you know we did we did a study on fruit of the spirit yes and then we also did you know we in that study we addressed the works of the flesh certainly uh but uh Pastor B says offended people uh I'm I'm on page two uh in that middle that second paragraph offended people produce much fruit such as hurt anger outrage jealousy resentment Strife bitterness hatred and envy some of the consequences of picking up an offense are insults attacks wounding division separation broken relationships betrayal and backsliding and so I had never even thought of that path I'd never thought you know we I'm good with the fruit of the spirit sir identify the The Works of the flesh but when you when you identify a place of offense in yourself and myself or or when we identify and we're trying to help someone who is offended you you you going to see multiple of those certainly you're going to see hurt you're going to see anger outrage jealousy resentment Strife bitterness hatred and envy and Elder none of that resembles God no it don't Pastor none of that resembles the fruit there is nothing on that list that re that is the uh on the list of the fruit of the spirit and and you know many of us have encountered do encounter people on a daily basis that display the offended fruits yeah right right you know yeah they wake up in the morning and make a conscious decision that I'm going to be mad with the world yeah what's good about it right right cuz somebody did me wrong and now I'm either which we we'll get into that but I'm either protecting myself so nobody else can do me wrong so I'm going be cold I'm GNA be mean I'm GNA be hard or I have taken on this posture of I'm a victim and now everybody needs to go out of their way uhhuh to pacify me because they did me wrong somebody did me wrong and now everybody gotta see about me all right you so yeah uh Facebook YouTube y'all let us know if y'all with us now y'all let us know if you're with us so um the scripture passage we'll go on to chapter one ELD the scripture passage and we had it a few months ago in here you we had it a few months ago in here but um when Jesus does this teaching with the disciples if you read it not as it's a passage in the Bible um um uh I'm I'm going to uh chapter one eler uh page five uh if you read it not as a chapter a a story in the Bible if you read it not as Jesus talking to his disciples but if we read it and embrace it as Jesus is talking to the church so he is talking to me and he says to me if my brother offends me seven times if he sins against me seven times rebuke him he not saying you know you just let it slide you don't say nothing cuz that's you know how people let stuff build up and then you blode but he not saying don't address it don't correct it but he's saying after you rebuke that person if they repent seven times you forgive them exactly if I take that on and apply it to me I'm exact I'm responding just like the uh disciples Lord increase our faith amen because that to me in my flesh in my natural if someone has transgressed against me somebody has sinned against me that's close to me seven times in one day I don't I don't I don't y'all y'all hear me I don't know that I they will get seven Chances with me in my current state now I'm growing I am I'm the Lord is challenging me he is developing me but sister Crowley I don't know that I'm going to give you seven passes in the same day if you you with me S Crowley said she smiling said yeah but Jesus is saying to us if after you address that behavior uhhuh if they if they repent you got to forgive them and you got to be open enough to allow them to be back in that same place where they may hurt you again uhhuh and and if you don't Pastor you could be labeled as unchristian likee yeah okay stay right there Elder stay right there because you y'all hear Elder he said you'll be lab if you don't do it you'll be labeled as unchristian like but here's the thing that also puts us in bondage is sometimes we put on the disguise that we're more spiritual than we are amen and so I'm going to say that I forgive you uhhuh because it's the right thing for a Christian to say but in my heart I'm mad I'm steaming underneath I'm I I walk past you and I don't speak you stand before me and I got thoughts out running through my mind about you yeah and then if somebody else say something nice about you I got an attitude with them am man he ain't all that y'all think Elder Scott this you just don't know right if you only knew okay uh chapter one y'all we moving to chapter one which is titled me offended question is a question mark Lady K me offended question mark um and then it gives Luke 17 And1 I want to to that second paragraph he says many are unable to function properly in their calling because of the wounds and hurts that offenses have caused in their lives I know that to be so in this church in Greater Harvest like I don't have to be hypothetical or nothing right now I know that there are those who are sitting down and not doing what God has called us to do because we got hurt somewhere else and brought it here or we got hurt here and haven't healed amen you seen it ell and and it's blood on our hands when we allow that I I I remember I remember I remember and I know that you know when we get offended yeah we'll take our ball and we'll go home yeah but I remember a pastor sharing with us when we were on recruiting Duty that if you're looking for a perfect church when you arrive it will no longer be perfect right because all churches got problems right it's only when you become a part of the quir do you find out oh my God but you should think it not strange right because of Satan right right right and and I would I'm going to give a very unpopular opinion right now oh we we got two deacons in here they they the deacons will let me know if I'm teaching a strange Doctrine I'm going to say that some of the hurt that we experience in the body of Christ at the hands of other believers is is actually ordained I'm going to I'm going to give you two examples to make sure I'm not getting so far fished off um the process especially when you see it in the New Testament when they bring the babies to the temple the process of circumcision even when it's done at its best is still painful for the child M but it was necessary to put that flesh under subjection to please God in that Covenant and so that uh experience happens at the church at the hand of someone who is skilled in it but it is still putting the flesh under subjection so that we can experience the Covenant with God and spiritually I do believe that there are some things that we go through that help us to break this flesh or help us to break our spirits of Pride or our spirits of whatever that will cause us not to be in Covenant with God I I believe that with all my heart I believe I have experienced hurt and pain in the church that later on I was thankful amen I was thankful that that mother or that Elder corrected me I was thankful that they sat me down I was thankful but in the moment it don't feel good no in the moment I feel like a victim Amen in the moment something rose up in me and who they think they are amen he a man just like me he put his pants on one leg at a time just like me she ain't got no business talking to a man like that amen so in the moment like my my emotions kicked in nothing about submitting to God's will came to my mind in that moment and nothing about uh God is at work in even this came to my mind certainly so so um so again um the statement and then can you go to Psalm 5512 the statement um I'm going to read it again many are unable to function properly in their calling because of the wounds and hurts that offenses have caused in their lives and it didn't even say many are are not functioning it said not functioning properly we are still in here functioning with this other stuff uh I think Hebrew TR calls it the root of bitterness mhm so I'm in here functioning but as Elder said I see you in the hallway and unless it's somebody else with you I'm not going to speak to you I'm going to walk past walk right past you yeah yeah and and we talk about that often yeah but it still occur in the body right not just here at Greater Harvest Right but other bodies of Christ that you go to people will walk past you and we say that we all kindred spirit mhm you know but it's the heart are far from it right and if I can't show you a goppy love then how can I say I love God yeah so so uh uh and also he shares that and Elder Scott referenced it earlier but he also shares that uh depending on who the person is and what your relationship is with them the same Act will create a different level offense of offense in you if you allow yourself to be offended a stranger may do this and it doesn't bother you or ungodly person may do this and you expect it out of them but if your sibling or your spouse does this or if your pastor does that it it resonates with us a different way because of who they are and who we because we're in relationship with them and then he shares from Psalm 551 12-14 uh a writing of David and it's talking about somebody close doing him wrong ELD can you can you you got Psalm 552 okay you go 12 through 14 okay 12 for it was not an enemy that reproached me then I could have borne it neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me then I would have hid myself from him and then verse 1 but it was thou a man equal a man equal my God and my acquaintance yeah 14 we took sweet counsel together yeah and walked unto the house of God in company wow wow that's who betrayed me that's who hurt me not a stranger yeah yeah some somebody I worship with SM huh SM smiling face backstab yeah he said it's not a stranger I could have dealt with it being a stranger it's not an enemy I could have dealt with it being an enemy no it's you we we walked to to worship together we were in the presence of the Lord together we took counsel together we heard the same sermons preached we shouted and we danced together we praised God together and then you you you not not not not the enemy that's working against you my brother my sister so that hits a different uh a different way and then and then he shares also about um which I never realized this but in all of the types of Wars mankind Wars the most brutal Wars are civil wars where you have family members fighting each other those are more brutal than Wars where strangers other other nations are are fighting each other no the Angela Thomas the the family fights are worse than the street fights certainly oh my God oh my God because you know perhaps Pastor uh those type of fights you know how you eat at my table and then you betray Meo yeah yeah you borrow this from me me but you betray me yeah I helped you when you when y'all was hungry I I help you pay your utility bill I help you get your car repaired yeah when you had a need I was there for you right yeah and and and and that if we are not careful those things will come up in us and make us Take debate that's that we back to what ELD was saying you got the the right lure and the right you got to have the right bait on the line sir you got to you got to be at the right depth I guess the different dep yes sir yes sir that's the depth right there Elder that's the depth you got for certain fish the bait has to be at a certain level yes sir and so where my neighbor who borrows some sugar and flour and then bring it back that's that this surface level but my cousin borrowed $1,000 for me and I I didn't want to give it to them I told them my rent was do they they promised me they were going to have it back that goes deeper yes it does it's a different depth a different different yeah yeah okay so um um verse I'm sorry page six the last paragraph it says Jesus made it very clear that it is impossible to live in this world let going back to uh Luke 17 it is impossible to live in this world and not have the opportunity to become offended yet most Believers are shocked bewildered and amazed when it happens we believe we are the only ones who have been wronged the this response leaves us vulnerable to a root of bitterness therefore we must be prepared and armed for offenses be because our uh response determines our future that line right there I'm going to read that sentence one more time therefore we must be prepared and armed for offenses because our response determines our future and I don't know if he's going I don't think it's in the next two chapters but I do want to ask you just since this is the Bible study uh uh crowd I do want to ask you given that we know the story of Joseph in in Genesis given that we know the story of Joseph what if what if Joseph had stopped serving out of offense while he was in that prison he wouldn't had an opportunity to to take care of his family he he yeah he wouldn't had an opportunity to take care of his family what you say he missed his calling because of offense he would have he he had the right to be offended at his brothers amen he had the right to be offended at Piper's wife amen and now he's sitting in the jail and if it truth be told if he desired to he could have found a way to be mad at God but because he right right right God gave the dream and his daddy gave him the coat that made his brothers jealous and you know what I'm saying but he kept serving and he stayed true to God and he stayed true well I can't say it that way I was going to say he was more faithful to Piper than Piper's wife was all right but but he was he wasn't doing it as but with Piper being his the aim of his faithfulness he was doing it because of God but he stayed he suffered through all of that and because he did not sit in a fence even in that prison his family was saved Egypt was saved the other nations that came to get food were saved what are we causing what are we making ourselves miss out on and what are we causing other people to miss out on when we sit in our offense in Our Moment and and take on offense instead of giving that to God and say Lord help me with this I don't want to become bitter Lord help me with this I don't want to I don't want to lose myself I don't want to you you you know what I'm saying you know what just came to my thought Pastor what David who was tending to the Sheep when his other brothers was was was brought before Samuel yeah yeah you know yeah so he he could have he could have felt some kind of way uhhuh and say you know they left me out here tending and sheep but they are before this great man of God right and he would have missed his calling right and then and then Elder went right back out to the Sheep after being anointed king did not take a posture of arrogance did not take a posture of I'm better than y'all not somebody else go I'm the I'm the next king right he kept serving kept serving in in the least desire place for his brothers he went right back right back and and like you just said pastor earlier see the hurt that you may be receiving in this season may be setting you up for a great blessing yes sir how can you be Greatful God if you can't endure anything yeah so God God knows strategically he knows strategically yeah what you're able to endure yeah so so when people come against you you know a a elected official uhhuh can't serve the people if you are offended by everything that's said about you cuz it's coming right you did this when you was a councilman yeah when you was at the state level you did this isn't it amazing people go through life and nothing is brought before the counsel uhhuh until God exalt you and du season right see they don't they didn't see all the the the hurt that and that you had to endure uhhuh that got you to where God has taken you to right right and then um I'm gonna give you the other side of it okay it may be that God has allowed us to experience these things because that is the thing that is purifying us that is that is what it's some stuff that I didn't know what was in me until I had to face some people doing me wrong and then I saw myself and I was like God I didn't know that was in me all right Lord help me all right cuz now I'm it's not even about them anymore uhhuh is now it's about okay God I didn't know this was in my heart or I didn't know this was in my spirit now this has happened to break me or hurt me or whatever but it's now caused me to see another area where I need God to help me and if that be the case now I'm better for it I'm better because you know uhhuh and then uh uh we we get to the to the uh to the go but oh yes oh yes yeah yeah I I was just playing with my ring the jury that we so love yeah we we do not see what the jury has to go through to get into that final ad door yeah item that we love Yeah gold is mixed with different alloys mhm and then the fire is burning off those impurities yeah you know today it's it's kind of hard to get pure gold because now they have taken uh the gold and stashed it away so now gold is mixed with silver yeah but the price is still it's still gold price it's still pure gold price huh certainly certainly certainly yeah but I thought that was that heat the heat the heat separates the pure gold from the other and the impurities yeah the imper because gold is soft it's a soft metal yeah and so you mix different Alloys with the gold to make it harder uhhuh and then when it's in the refiner fire yeah it's burning off the dro that is called you know those impurities and then when we see it it's it's at that State that we adore we got the buy it because it's beautiful yeah because it had to go through it went through something okay one more time one more time for the slow class you said gold is soft it is soft metal and then they add these different allo into it yes which cause it to get hard uh-huh and when it's taken out there's but the other things are not precious they're not valuable like the gold exactly so my heart for God when I receive his healing when I'm when I'm uh uh when I have received him into my heart my heart is soft certainly and then depending on what I go through some other Alloys get added added to my heart and then my heart gets hard cuz it ain't the Pure Heart anymore it's it's been uh uh infiltrated with other stuff that has now made my heart hard exactly and maybe uh-huh it is that God allows things when my heart is starting to get hard he will allow me to go through some fiery situations so that he can burn off that stuff and make my heart soft again so that it'll be acceptable cuz I believe the scripture said that he that has Clean Hands and a pure heart uhuh that's that's that's Psalm 24 I think okay okay all right Elder so um the death sentence therefore we must be prepared and armed for offenses because our response determines our future um what time is 7:48 okay okay we got a little time okay um this the deceptive trap and this is kind of what Elder Scott was sharing with us but if in Luke 17 And1 the word offend is actually from a Greek word scandalon and it is the part of a trap which the bait is attached so In this passage where we just read from Luke 17 when Jesus is talking about offense he is actually I think that's why the book is nam the bait of Satan but when Jesus is talking about an offense he's actually referring to or using the Greek word which refers to the part of a trap where the bait is attached and then um he uh he makes the sa offense is a tool of the devil to bring people into captivity because again when we are offended the fruit let me go back to it I need to learn these the fruit uh offended people produce much fruit such as hurt anger outrage jealousy resentment Strife bitterness hatred and envy and so that bait to cause us to be offended the goal of it is to have that fruit in our lives not uh goodness and mercy and meekness and love and patience and longsuffering that's it's it's it's this is a whole opposite list of what we should be demonstrating in our lives um I'm going just read a couple of statements from uh the rest of chapter one um those who are in qu quarrels or opposition fall into a trap and are held prisoner to the devil's will now he's referring to uh Second Timothy Chapter 2 verses 24- 26 which reads and a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all able to teach patient in humility correcting those who are in opposition if God perhaps will grant them repentance so that they may know the truth and that they may come to their senses and Escape The Snare that's where the Trap is the snare of the devil having been taken captive by him him to do his will so instead of doing God's will they have been taken captive by the enemy and are now doing his will so that's what that sentence he says those who are in quarrels or opposition fall into a trap and are held prisoner to do the devil's will uh the last sentence in that paragraph when a person is deceived he believes he is right even though he is not so we then you you get entrapped and deceived so you're in a place of offense and then you have been deceived to believe that while you're in this place of offense that we are actually right you going to have to go to the m you going to have to go to the m cuz you're right cuz that pride is in operation it is in operation is that mic on Trey it is okay I was just saying we tend to find pride and justifying what has happened to us so we walk around boasting had this not happened to me I wouldn't be in this place and I'm doing this because that is the way I was treated we make excuses pridefully yeah opposed to humbling ourselves in forgiveness we find strength in the bait we take pride in the fact that I can act like this because I was wronged right and now justify justify that's right we start to justify our Behavior our relationship with the bait when we take it we justify why we're living like this and then we tell others in hopes that they will come in and endorse us support you for being angry whereas we should be forgiven we start to build up what my husband always take his tackle box with additional bait uhhuh hold on hold on hold on you take me too fast we you said we operate in Pride yes then we justify our actions that are ungodly and then we call for support yes sir for other people to undergird us in our prideful ungodly oh my God it's not one of us that cannot stop and think about ourselves and we have gone to someone else and told them we were wronged by someone else and we've done it with an attitude of bitterness and anger and hopes I mean this is every believer yeah we cannot say that there has never been a time where we didn't go and say to someone else how wrong I have been treated and try to justify why I feel the way I feel in hopes that they will endorse the fact that I have a right to feel this way that's a self inventory check yeah and then get upset if they if they justify that I should be trying to forgive but baby forgive them right if they hit me with the word and God's Will and and love and yes sir help Lord closing the book that I that's I think that needs to marinate right there to put in the crockpot she said you started with pride we operate in Pride after the the offenses happen we operate in Pride and then we justify our actions that do not align with God's plan for oh my God and then once we're justifying our AC then we call in others to sell our side and our and and get support certainly yes cuz we will get offended for you we'll get matter of fact I've had situations where I didn't get offended and when I was telling the story the person I was telling them to got offended for me and got offended at me for not being offended I was like like I'm trying to please God what you doing all right you're supposed to be agreeing with me we Believers right powerful okay okay all right the book The Bait of s I hope y'all can see that this is going to be a powerful and important time for us in our individual lives and in this ministry the bait of Satan by John bav and uh I we're we're going to walk through it uh we're not going to waste time but we're also not going to rush through it and Miss what God will do in our lives if we uh absorb and internalize this teaching so that we don't fall for the bait the next time amen amen amen all right y'all uh Facebook YouTube y'all put some the month we have first Friday prayer at 700 p.m. right here in the sanctuary and we are excited about what God has been doing in our times of prayer and those of you who are not aware uh God has been been answering prayers that uh we've been praying for extended period of periods of time I've been seeing and hearing testimonies of Pastor I've been praying for this and that for a long time and God going to have a powerful word and we're going to be a blessing to our pastor and first lady remember our colors are shades of of silver and navy and also we asking each individual not the auxiliary but each individual for a contribution of $210 that $10 represent the 10 year anniversary of our pastor serving us be blessed amen thank you D thank you D and then finally uh well not finally on Saturday morning our men will meet uh on Harbor toown there's a specific men you should have the email uh today I think it went out today yes uh you should have that email in your inbox uh with details about it but 8:00 a.m. we're going to meet at the river we're going to pray um and then once we finish our prayer we are going to uh the cupboard for men's fellowship breakfast we're going to have uh as Elder Foster says Dutch Street Dutch Street breakfast uh and so we're excited about that and ladies L ladies online I heard y'all had a wonderful time on Sunday at the uh women's Fellowship I was getting calls and text uh messages Sunday evening so y'all made me uh feel like I should have came to the women's Fellowship they they they enjoyed it they really uh sent me messages and and and as soon as the movie was over I was getting text messages uh the final announcement is um or the final two announcements on September 18th uh we will be the guest of superintendent Neil jennerette and uh missionary District missionary Elanor Glover at the OT Jones Memorial district meeting that is a Wednesday night September 18th and I going to make a special appeal because we won't be here that Wednesday night uh on September 18th but we will I'm going to ask my Bible study crew to come to uh 1112 East mmore Southside Church of God in Christ uh the service time is 7 p.m and we are opening their annual District meeting uh and so I'm I'm asking the Bible study crowd on that Wednesday night I'm asking y'all to come uh not only come in person next week as we uh do uh continue with debate of Satan but also if you will come with me as we fellowship with superintendent Jed and the OT Jones Memorial District I'm asking if you will come with me and will you be praying with me that God does something amazing miraculous and mighty for us in that service I really am uh expecting God to do something and I would like for you to your faith with my faith and let's lift our faith up to the Lord that he does something miraculous and amazing on that night okay amen all right so I am going to um take a moment and just uh make a statement about our giving opportunities and then Elder Scott if use that as well uh so we're going to to thank God for his plan for our lives that gives us the victory even over the bait that Satan would use in our lives amen so we're thankful for God's plan for victory for us in every area of Our Lives including our finances including those things that he has made us stewards of including our houses our cars our lands including our possessions including our children our grandchildren our nieces our nephews all those that are related to us uh we're thankful that we are able to speak blessings over that which God has given us stewardship over or over that which God has given us relationship uh for death and life is in the power of the tongue and I am thankful that we can speak healing over our loved ones we can speak uh protection over our children we can speak Provisions over the needs in our lives we can speak it and so at this time we're going to ask Elder Scott to speak over our giving as we worship in our giving and to speak as we are
