I would probably say more satisfying than last weekend um just because it's been a lot closer in practice and uh we had more struggles it's a more difficult track to kind of put things together um we've looked good all weekend but we not look great and we look great in Zan so uh pretty mean means and and kind of felt better out there today in terms of getting the poll because it felt much harder in doing so and uh that's always a great feeling to have um so I'm very happy especially for one two even even better for us as a team second is a good place to start um first would be better but uh yeah just didn't quite um nail it in in Q3 so um yeah again pretty happy with with where we are and it's a long run to turn one here and um it'll be you know a race uh that's that's full of strategy probably which is um a bit different for monzo so let's see what uh what tomorrow brings a difficult weekend up until now not many laps didn't have a great feeling with the car I was behind Lewis in every session q1 and Q2 and just just found a bit bit of a better Sweet Spot come Q3 and um really pleased to be in third place disappointed uh yesterday it seemed like it was a positive day today uh quite a bit less I mean P4 was the best we could do but uh frustrating I mean again I'm I don't like fighting for these kind of positions we Al we are very close to first place uh on the contrary of last weekend which is a good step forward however it's not enough so I really hope that tomorrow we can turn the situation around I think we looked like the whole session we were just one10 off you know one10 off 11 12 one off maybe even the Q3 when the track time drop a bit with the clouds coming it went away from us we started to pick up aot a lot of under steer and I couldn't turn the car in the last two sectors a shame because I was quick in sector one uh but then yeah I couldn't quite make it work around sector 2 and3 with with the under steer the managed to to put enough balance on the car to to get around them but uh yeah one1 off it's is what it is Le it's so tight at the minute between the top four teams any kind of explanation as to why maybe you weren't able to get everything out of it today oh yeah cuz I just I'm not very good simple as uh simple as that I'm just uh just not very good at qualifying but you just haven't got suddenly got bad have the idea I clearly have I can't put a lap together and and it's uh it's unbelievably frustrating but I'll keep working at it and that's all I can do 3 was very bad on both of my ti sets I just picked up a lot of under steer so I couldn't attack any Corners anymore um I had to back it out a lot mid corner and you lose a lot of lap time with that so um somehow in Q2 it wasn't that bad I mean I did a point six at that point and we were almost the quickest I mean we know our limitations we know our problems but at that point I think we had it fairly under control but but um yeah I went into Q3 and the the balance is completely out and I I don't really understand how that happened I think uh we have this disconnection with the balance and I think at these unforce levels it's even harder you know I I had a great run on my St Tire in Q3 but then I put the new tire and and everything gets really picky really difficult it was a nice battle with the house I think we're fcing with them all all weekend uh I think they have the edge on us in the long runs but um we seem to have the edge on them in the in the in the short run so uh yeah really happy we were always in kind of a a good position fp1 fp2 fp3 we always showed Pace um but in some ways that adds a little bit of pressure into qualifying to make sure that you deliver and um during qualifying we actually started to lose a little bit the Rhythm and the tires started to not respond how we wanted them to um but the guys did a great job solid uh to be inside the top 10 obviously to be uh behind Alex by that little margin not ideal and just lost it already in turns one two on the new tire I I didn't somehow make them stick every turn time with with use new tires that didn't go well um so something to to understand there for us but all in all happy I think every lab you doing mon is a little bit random always you could have changed something and and get better so you know maybe a little bit better we could have done but at the same time we were a little bit concerning into qualifying uh our calculations after the free practices we were a little a bit pessimistic being like the seventh or eighth fastest team uh by our calculations so yeah uh to BEP 11 I think is is is good in terms of position but uh we need to figure out how tomorrow uh be in the top 10 and score points didn't really feel like I left much much on the table so um yeah look I knew especially after this morning we knew it was tricky you know to be in Q3 you know anything can happen obviously come qual but uh yeah even q1 you know we uh we kind of just got through so yeah to get quite close to Q3 in the end that was that was okay you know it's very important to have a a slipstream here and you know it gives you three t uh I went out behind the the two alpins and they uh I think they bluffed us because they did a prep lab and absolutely with the temperatures it's it's not necessary to do a prep lab so I think they just uh maybe they tricked us uh so I ended up without a without a toe uh completely on my own all weekend it's been very tough with the soft tire so since fp1 every time we fit that compound the the car and the tire itself never seem to work we always struggle with you know front WM up um rear grip we've tried all sort of things in qualifying with a build up in Q2 um and the best grip I had out there was on a u set in q1 so it's it's quite confusing I think the car was working to to a normal level you know like how we were operating before um zort and that was quite unexpected I would say um so yeah there's a lot of things that we need to understand uh that last lap in qu was a bit messy um few things we didn't do correct on on the switches and not the optimal you know on track placement uh as well and you know um it was just a bit dirty the track when I went through and lost a bit of time from that pretty tough and um you have to understand what's what's going on all throughout the week was wasn't easy car to drive and we able to close in that Gap so but uh straight away from since fb1 was uh pretty far off and the we I mean yeah this kind of still characteristic was there so it's different across the car so a lot of things learn did you get bked on your final running didn't get to bed like Kevin go off oh yeah I got the yellow flag so um yeah that cost me in my second La how did the car feel up until that point uh not great I think we've been on the back foot all weekend so um yeah we'll see in the race tomorrow see is quite frustrating of course um I was expecting more after after fp3 we had really good Pace um and I had a lot to improve as well after lap one in in in q1 so H I think I was expecting a Q2 was was very possible and and of course that that little mistake that I did cost me the lap so um a lot of things to to keep learning a lot to understand of the tires yet uh and it's a uh it's a lot of things going on um I am getting used to it and AD thing quite quick but uh I still need to need to understand better many things practice three was uh was definitely more difficult than than yesterday way it didn't seem like we we made enough progress overnight so we reverted some of the settings from yesterday for the qual and actually it felt better in the end it was down to luck I had a yellow flag on the on the last run in in q1 and uh that's why I couldn't couldn't improve so unlucky I think otherwise we should have been through in Q2 and then then is a question the mark where we would have been I would been actually maybe P5 16 my last up was like four and a half five times up and then I think hooken going off in seven somebody else going off in 108 and then Magnuson stopped on the ex of last corner so yeah lost like uh five six times last La otherwise actually could be a good step improved compared to where we were this morning so you know way it's happier with the car but another way just disappointed because uh obviously you just get CAU in the all the mess and R driving so
