Ole Miss Rebels 2024 Season Predictions

a 10-2 regular season for Old Miss in 2023 and this roster looks even better in 2024 we're going to give you our predictions for the Old Miss Rebels going game by game first just my thoughts on this team and yeah the offense looks like it's going to be really really good again you got Jackson Dart another year in the system at quarterback you got you know he's one of the the most veteran quarterbacks I guess in the SEC coming back this season and I think you see a lot of quarterback rankings he's not talked about enough as as Maybe potentially the best quarterback in the SEC they're loaded at the skill positions running back wide receiver even tied in so many weapons and a good offensive line then you look at the defense the defensive line is is so much better than it has been uh they've really upgraded there they've gotten better and better and now all of a sudden you've got a defensive line that is is among the best in the SEC a secondary that should be solid and a linebacker group that you know maybe is is the biggest weakness on this team but is it's not not bad so you're talking about this team now has a defense to go along with that Elite offense and that's why ol Miss is a very dangerous team in 2024 so let's get to the predictions uh Vegas has the over under win total at 9 and a half I think that's pretty fair you know the schedule's not horrible uh the non-conference is not bad at all uh and you look at you know their toughest games in the SEC LSU Oklahoma Georgia you know it's really not that tough of a schedule they avoid a lot of the top teams in the SEC so because of that I think Miss again has a chance to have a really good season they should start with pretty easy wins here Ferman and Middle Tennessee I don't think we'll see those games be competitive at all so I think they roll in their first two games and they'll play Wake Forest on September 14th a team that's coming off of a rough season uh just not a super talented team but they they've got an offensive scheme that works and they're usually pretty good on that side of the ball so maybe they score a little bit in this game maybe it stays close for a quarter maybe even a half but Old Miss should pull away and I think they win this game fairly easily and then also beat Georgia Southern so I've got this team starting 4-0 heading into SEC play and they will start SEC play with Kentucky they play them on September 28th at home should be a pretty good game KY is going to be a solid football team they're going to have a good defense uh an offense that we don't really maybe know right now how good they're going to be uh the game is at all miss that definitely helps I think this Ulus team overall is just the better team uh if Kentucky can slow the game down and run the ball successfully maybe they have a chance uh but again you're going up against a really good defensive line now from Old Miss and and I think Old Miss is able to take control of this one so I think they win a pretty close game but I've got Miss staying undefeated they play South Carolina the next week on October 5th on the road that's a tough place to play uh you could probably call this an upset alert type game again you're going on the road tough place to play you've got LSU the next week another road game coming off of a of a big one over Kentucky a 5 and0 start potentially and then you got South Carolina I just don't think this South Carolina team is going to be good enough I just think Old Miss is still the better team I think offensively South Carolina is going to struggle um Can can rocket Sanders kind of get back to what he used to be can he get healthy can they run the football I don't know if the offensive line you know South Carolina is interesting team cuz they did a lot in the transfer portal but they didn't really bring in proven power for type players so how well can they develop some of these other guys I I'm just not buying it so I think Miss is able to go in there maybe survive a rough start maybe a defensive TouchDown for South Carolina or special teams maybe they play Beamer ball they block a punt that place is rocking and and maybe South Carolina keeps it close for a little bit but I see Old Miss pulling away in the second half I just think this team's too good too deep too talented they get to 6 and 0 then they'll play o or LSU before Oklahoma they'll play LSU the next week on October the 12th tough place to play again you're coming off of a road game in South Carolina now you got to go on the road to play LSU an LSU team that I think can kind of match the the talent level of Old Miss also I really like the LSU offensive line and I think that can can potentially be a win for LSU even against a really goodus defensive line or at least I think it's a draw um so I think LSU probably able to to have some success offensively especially playing at home we know teams play so much better at home so I think LSU is able to score in this game but I think Miss is able to score as well um maybe Harold Perkins has a big game for LSU but you know I I do still have some question marks about this LSU team so I think it's a shootout I think it's a game that's maybe kind of similar to last year's game back and forth but it's just it's something about Death Valley and especially if this game is at night I think LSU finds a way to to pull out a win again I think it's a close game comes down to maybe a last second field goal or something but I've got LSU winning this game so almost loses their first game of the season then they get a bye before playing Oklahoma pretty good time for a bye in fact I think I'd maybe rather have that first bye a little bit sooner maybe have it between South Carolina and LSU but they get their first by week before playing Oklahoma this is going to be a really good Oklahoma defense especially an offense that has potential I think this is going to be a tough one for Miss I think uh it's one that's physical it's hardfought uh maybe not quite as high scoring as the LSU game but I think playing at home Jackson Dart he's going to make a play to win this game I think Miss wins it's close but I'm going with the rebels to beat Oklahoma and then they'll play Arkansas the next week on November 2nd you know I was I was thinking know this game's usually pretty close and so I look back at the last four games the last two games in Oxford were one scor four games very close games in the last two games in fville Arkansas actually won by uh a couple scores so Arkansas has done pretty well in this series and and I I'm not one to look at back look it back at history and say well because this happened because this usually happens it's going to happen this year uh that's not I don't make predictions that way but sometimes you do see these patterns and you see kind of rivalries like the iron ball you know there are certain things you can pick up on like the ironball and Jordan hair that's going to be a good game I mean you can pretty much guarantee it and this game seems like it's a good game pretty much every year I think Miss is clearly a better team than Arkansas but Arkansas might be able to to kind of slow this game down I think their run game is going to be pretty effective uh they've got a guy in Landon Jackson on defense that can can be a GameChanger on defense kind of like a couple years ago when Harold Perkins he almost beat Alabama by himself at LSU and I could see Landon Jackson maybe having one game this season that's like that I also look at where this game is on the schedule coming off of a big win over Oklahoma and with Georgia the next week which could be potentially a top five top six matchup you wonder about the focus of Old Miss I just I have a gut feeling Arkansas is going to pull off a shocker here and again I think Miss is the better team but better team doesn't always win and I'm going with Arkansas again to pull off a huge huge upset at home over Old Miss they'll play Georgia the next week on November 9th at home uh the loss definitely I think it'll be a wakeup call for Old Miss maybe it causes Georgia to overlook Old Miss a little bit they're going to be coming off of a rivalry game against Florida so you know it's interesting match up here and you look at last year's game it really wasn't close at all but I feel likeus did a lot to upgrade in the areas where they needed to especially on that defensive line to be able to compete with a team like Georgia they're playing at home I think Old Miss just just has some magic in this one I'm going with Old Miss to beat Georgia and if you watched our Georgia predictions you already saw that but again that's the only loss I had for Georgia um I think it's going to be a good game and you look at this stretch here from Kentucky especially maybe even down to Florida maybe even all the way down to the eggo all these SEC games I think are going to be very exciting pretty competitive games here for Old Miss no it's not a terrible schedule but uh any game in the SEC is not going to be easy except maybe vanderville you got Florida next on the road after a big win Over Georgia I could see definitely having a let down here A desperate Florida team that's maybe trying to fight their way towards a bowl game uh that's going to make for a tough game but I think Miss maybe learns their lesson after the loss to Arkansas they're focused back in for this game they're able to go on the road survive the swamp and beat Florida again I just think that this is a better team and then they'll play Mississippi State to close things out it'll be on Friday not Thanksgiving I don't know why why they're doing this but um it is what it is egg ball I love that game being on Thanksgiving but it looks like we will not get that no any longer but yeah this is is a game where Miss is clearly the better team I know it's the Egg Bowl I know it's close a lot of times but uh I think playing at home with a much better team I I'm just not high at all Mississippi State I think actually wins easily I don't expect this game to be close at all so I think they finish off 10 and two uh should be enough to get into the college football play off same record as last year I look at Arkansas and Florida again those are the two games I think they're going to lose one of those two on the road I think there's an upset there um they could also potentially lose to Georgia but they could beat LSU so I think 10 and two is a pretty good prediction here again I'm going to say between LSU and Georgia they split and between Arkansas and Florida they split and they beat everyone else and that's going to get them to 10 and two so what are your thoughts on miss your predictions let me
