I TELL YOU, IT'S BEEN A DAY OF CLEANUP HERE IN EVANSTON FOR RESIDENTS, FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS. RAFAEL VARELA IS GOING TO TURN THE CAMERA AROUND SO YOU CAN SEE ONE OF THE LOCATIONS HERE. BUILDING AT NORTHWESTERN'S ANTHROPOLOGY DEPARTMENT. YOU SEE THESE LARGE BRANCHES THAT HAVE SNAPPED FROM THIS TREE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING NOW CRASHING INTO THE SIDEWALK. NOW HERE, FURTHER ALONG DOWN THE STREET. WE DID REACH OUT TO NORTHWESTERN OFFICIALS WHO TOLD US THAT THEY HAVE SEEN DAMAGE, DAMAGE CAMPUS WIDE. WE REACHED OUT AS WELL AS TO THE CITY OF NORTHWESTERN. THEY SAID THEY RECEIVED ABOUT 300 CALLS OF DAMAGE. THE OTHER BIG THING THAT WE'VE SEEN OUT HERE, BEYOND ALL OF THE DAMAGE, WE'RE HEARING THAT THERE WERE A FEW POWER OUTAGES, SOME EVEN STILL REMAINING WITH POWER. BUT THIS ONE HERE, GUYS, ALL AGAIN IN THE 1800 BLOCK OF HINDMAN STREET OF HINMAN AVENUE. EXCUSE ME. TAKE A LOOK AT THIS MASSIVE TREE, WHICH HAS COME DOWN. IT IS NOW, IT LOOKS AS IF IT SNAPPED FROM THE BOTTOM, AND IT IS NOW CRASHED ON TOP OF THE ROOF OF THIS BUILDING. AGAIN, THIS IS ANOTHER NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY ANTHROPOLOGY BUILDING. THE DAMAGE HERE IS UNBELIEVABLE. WE DID CATCH UP WITH ONE GENTLEMAN, SERAFIN MARTINEZ, WHO'S A LOG LOADER FOR SUNRISE TREE CARE. HE SAID HE BEGAN HIS DAY AT 7 A.M, REMOVING SEVERAL LOGS FROM THE AREA. TAKE A LISTEN. HOW MANY TREES HAVE YOU COLLECTED TODAY HERE IN EVANSTON, ABOUT 7 OR 8. WOW. DESCRIBE THE AREA. HOW DID IT LOOK TO YOU IN TERMS OF THE DAMAGE? IT WAS REALLY BAD. YESTERDAY, MAYBE WITHIN TEN MINUTES, WINDS OF, LIKE, 70 MILES AN HOUR. YOU KNOW, JUST MADE A, YOU KNOW, CHAOS DESTROYED A LOT. YEAH, I SAW A LOT OF TREES, LIKE BLOCKING EVEN SIDE STREETS. RIGHT. BLOCKING STREETS ON TOP OF CARS ON TOP OF HOUSES. YEAH. AGAIN, JUST A LOT OF BIG MESS HERE IN EVANSTON, FOLKS. STILL CLEANING UP. HERE'S ANOTHER ANGLE OF THIS TREE WHICH HAS FALLEN ON TOP OF THIS BUILDING. YOU CAN SEE THE AREA NOW ROPED OFF, NOW EVANSTON WIDE AS A WHOLE. WE LEARNED THAT THERE WERE SOME 300 REQUESTS FOR A TREE REMOVAL. THEY'VE GOTTEN TO ABOUT 80 OF THOSE REQUESTS. SO FAR TODAY. WE ALSO LEARNED FROM THE CITY THAT THERE WERE SEVEN PEOPLE STILL WITHOUT POWER. THERE WERE THREE VEHICLES DAMAGED GUYS. BUT HERE IS THE GREAT NEWS THAT WE'VE LEARNED. DESPITE ALL OF THIS, WE'RE HEARING THAT THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO INJURIES AND SO THE CITY DID SAY THAT THEY'RE GOING TO NEED SEVERAL DAYS TO ADDRESS AND CLEAN UP THE THIS AREA.
