Late Saturday night, the Abilene Christian
football team's bus was hit by an alleged drunk driver, leaving four people injured
in Texas. A football player, two coaches, and the bus driver were treated for
minor injuries at a local hospital. Parker Young, 19, was arrested for DWI
after reportedly ignoring traffic signals and colliding with the bus, which then hit
another vehicle. The bus was beginning its 170-mile trip back to campus from a game against
Texas Tech when the crash happened near midnight. Abilene Christian thanked Texas Tech's
staff, first responders, and all those who assisted after the crash. Photos from the
scene showed a severely damaged white truck. Despite the crash, Texas Tech's athletic
department sent their support to Abilene Christian, offering further
help as needed. Earlier, Texas Tech narrowly defeated Abilene
Christian, 52-51, in an overtime thriller. Abilene Christian will play West Georgia next Saturday. Young remains in custody
without bond as of Sunday afternoon.
