Nicole Kidman: The Perfect Couple is 'Wanna-See TV' ⭐️ UK PREMIERE

and then we've got radio radio radio is like my My Savior yeah yeah the BFI IMAX in London wasn't short of Hollywood star power at the UK premiere of Netflix crime comedy drama the perfect couple Nicole Kidman and LEF shrier Star as the seemingly Flawless married couple whose son is about to marry Amelia saxs played by Eve Houston on the weekend of their wedding on the drenched island of vanet things take a turn when a body washes up on the pristine Shoreline Nicole plays Steely matriarch gria winbury and she told Virgin Radio why audiences are always drawn into to murder mysteries set in idilic locations I think it kind of it it sucks you in it's smoking mirrors in a way so you get given the idea that it's paradise and then that gets pulled out from under you um and and I and I think when you start your expect there is an unease to the thing there's a disturbance there's this underlying disturbance from the minute you start watching so you're waiting so um but that's what um Susanna be the director does so well is she creates all the the beauty and then she pulls the rug out and continues to do so and um we love it's really hard to do leev plays Nicole's husband Tac who appears to have his own Secrets behind the scenes he told us how the cast were encouraged to improvise despite reading from an often dark scripts it was all Susanna and I and um that's how she wanted to work and I'm so glad that she did because it was really fun and it was really interesting I don't know if you can tell by the dialogue but there's a very there's a great sense of spontaneity in it and people overlapping each other it feels like life it feels real and at the same time the most ridiculous and awful things come out of people's mouths and I think that that's sort of the right tone for this story joining the wib family as an outsider isn't so bad when your mother-in-law to be is Nicole Kidman according to Amelia star Eve she explained how she was constantly in awe of starring opposite the Australian aist yes it's the dream everything the dream co-star the dream friend the dream mother-in-law she's so amazing I like blown away I can't believe I even work with her I can't really remember the scenes I shot with her because I think I had an out of Body Experience I heard a lot about her work ethic um so I wasn't surprised but it was so incredible to watch someone be so invested in their work and just consistently mine and try new things and keep things interesting and just her investment in her work every day is unbelievable and very inspiring back to the Improv and Midsummer star Jack Rainer confessed he jumped at the chance to play obnoxious wib sibling Thomas and relish the a chance to improv on the Netflix drama the best thing to be able to go in and just play it like you're feeling it in the moment not easy to do when you're working with an ensemble and sometimes you're going to step on somebody's toes in the middle of a scene um but you know we all kind of ended up doing that and I think that it brought a a sort of an authenticity to the dialogue and it brings a a sharpness to the humor that really works for the show so I love playing characters that are obnoxious that are challenging for an audience But ultimately ones who people can kind of relate to in some way that's the best fun I think you can have um I just loved it I loved the character I thought he was hilarious and I just saw kind of an opportunity to just push all the humor as much as I could um and Susanna our director was very happy for me to do that which was I mean a total gift you know um so yeah I was I was in straight away something not improvised but still very much a surprise to the cast was filming the soon to be iconic opening sequence which includes a full dance routine and music from Megan Trainer Nicole and the Gang reacted to being told they had to learn a full routine with just days of filming left to go which I was like I don't know any of these steps so I'm just going to dance as Greer um so I picked it up as we went along kind of thing and through the whole thing I was like okay this is the gria dance I thought I did a really good job I and I'm was kind of frankly disappointed that they didn't feature me more cuz I thought I I learned that dance well and I thought I gave my heart and soul to it and maybe that was awkward for the cameraman or I don't know but I thought I I hope one day they release all we all right welcome to Lon yeah thanks I hope one day they released the full unedited version of just me doing the dance um that was a surprise attack from beer we didn't that wasn't the script and that was never a part of um our plan but it was the end of our re-shoot and it was before Christmas and we got an email saying you have to learn this down then everybody had an absolute freak out about it and I was thrilled cuz I was like I'm an amazing so uh we ended up doing it that was our last day on set and it was our last like moment together we spent like basically a year shooting the show because of the strikes and everything so it was really good memory to have all of us together well watching the rehearsals was the most fun I had on set I definitely have my own personal videos on my phone I think that was This brilliant concoction where Susan beer is known for her Thrillers and you know she's this Danish director who we think of as doing simmering Intrigue and seductive shows but we don't necessarily associate her with acking good time so I think we needed to cue the audience that it was okay to laugh and have fun that this was a roller coaster that you need to strap into but it's going to be a fun ride you can eat your popcorn and drink your wine so that was the idea was that the credits right away would cue the audience that this is supposed to be fun and I think they do that it's so it's like a huge big space of excitement between the two of them and um and they they just you know they it was just energetic and and um you know I want to say kind of uncompromising really uncompromising both of them and that made it super exciting like the entire cars were brilliant and improvised and as long as you as long as you don't as long as you don't let the main story down you just get so many free gifts and I have to say Suna beer this is what she does if you saw the undoing if you saw the night manager this is what she does and so when she said I'm going to do this I was like right let's go because when you put her at the helm of something like this she can take you on these twists and turns and these rides and there's something about um she's slightly wicked as well so she's always pushing you um which is great and she has even though she's Danish she has this sense of humor that you get you know I think it's a European sense of humor that she imbus into the series so it's kind of this it's an unusual mix but it works um hopefully uh and she she creates want to see TV for more
