foreign [Music] [Music] tario mini reporter for the little Chasers chat all right so did you guys play Little League Baseball as a kid yeah I played Little League in Huntsville Alabama my whole life I was a catcher now I'm an outfielder but I always wanted to be a catcher because I felt like every pitch I was involved in something I played Little League in Charlotte North Carolina and uh quickly realized I was not meant to be a position player so I was on the mound as as often as I could be because I'm not great in the field what's your guys's favorite positions and why yeah I just I just got one I pitched they don't let me they won't even like let me go in the infield during batting practice so they just stick me on the mound every five days and then just bubble wrap me up and right back into the Dugout so if I could do anything my favorite player was Derek Jeter so I want to be a short stop wasn't really in the cards for me it wasn't very good uh for me uh I like to play center field I feel like I have the most opportunity to make some places Center so that's my favorite what's your favorite position uh catcher catcher nice like to get dirty yeah when it's really hot outside at a practice or a game doesn't bother you bother you luckily we have a lot of trainers that give us a lot of the uh like water all the hydration packets and everything so we stay on top of that but it definitely exhausts you at the end of the day we sleep good at night yeah they give us like a million Gatorades and like little Gatorade packets you can put in your Waters that those help but I think we're both from the south so it's a little muggier where we're from it's like being like I went to school in Florida so it was a swamp so there's bugs and it's real muggy and and humid all the time so it doesn't really bother me here um we get a little Cool Breeze here too so it's not too bad uh how much fun is the game to you guys well the game's the best part I mean you practice all day you practice all off season and then you get out there and you get to compete with your teammates and you get to compete against other guys that all have the same dream play it in the MLB so it's fun to be able to play in front of the fans and let all that hard work be a reward and just go out there and compete every day the best we can yeah I mean it's like it's kind of funny it'd be like you and all your friends just get to hang out and play baseball all day so that's kind of how we are we we uh we're just like a bunch of little kids like we go in the clubhouse and it's like same same baseball game we were like 12 years old so we're lucky so whenever you get to go out there and be a little kid for a job and you uh you got it made yeah how is life how life outside of baseball uh it's fun you uh we spend a lot of time here so it's usually in the off seasons is when we get to do a lot of our fun stuff so we end in early October and then we got all the way until early February so it's basically our summer your summer break's like our winter break so most of us travel like I live in Florida so it's where it's warm all year so I don't have to deal with the cold and then we we get to hang out in Florida we get to do whatever we want in the offices it's like summer break but you're an adult so we just go we work out in the mornings then you can do whatever we golf we fish just kill the time like I said don't tell anybody we're just a bunch of little kids running around so it's pretty fun yeah I completely agree I think at any time uh you know you get away from the sport that you play and it's your job after playing for eight months you know you're you're really worn down so going into the off season it's important to just take a step back and relax and rest and spend time with your family because a lot of us you know like Jackson said we're away from our families and away from our home so it's really important for you just to go back to your roots and spend time with people that help you get to where you are today and I think everybody really on this team values family and so we go back and spend time with our families and recharge up for the next season and hope that we can you know be the best uh going into the next season foreign guys have a big crowd watching you guys bigger the crowd the better for me I love it it's it just makes you so happy when you hear everybody cheering and roaring and um I know Jackson probably loves to throw when he you know strikes somebody out and everybody you know screaming and the same goes for me hitting a home run when everybody's you know cheering your name and everything it's pretty special but um you know it's really special when he gets going to The Dugout and everybody's all your teammates and stuff are happy for you yeah I mean it's really fun I think you know when you're out there you kind of don't even really realize that you get like a little bit of tunnel vision so you just lock in on for me like if I'm pitching with a bunch of people maybe like when you first are warming up you kind of notice it but once you get out there it's just it kind of turns into you and the catcher so um it does make it more fun though good days are always good days when you can share them with other people so there's a whole bunch of people to share a good day that's a fun one did you ever play other sports he actually was a football and baseball player in college so I don't know if Jax is going to have a better answer than me because he's just a pitcher and all he does is throw the baseball so for me I played football and baseball growing up and all the way into college and I was fortunate enough to do that at UAB and so that was pretty cool to be a dual sport athlete okay no I was yeah I was gonna say I was I played eighth grade basketball conference Champs scored three points the entire season so I kind of realized that was probably going to be it for me because until then like when I grew up they like like you you play like literally for like you know youth basketball they let you play Middle School they didn't just like let me play and then I realized like hey Coachella hadn't put me in in three games probably time to hang them up so I wasn't real athletic how did you guys pick your numbers well I was always number 10 number 10's retired so I like eight or eighteen it was a dick Hauser I think it's retired yeah can't wear that one so um yeah number 18 was my high school football number and a good friend of mine Mitch moreland's number 18 so kind of flows well um my I'm number 37 my dad was 37 when he played college baseball and then played a year at pro ball so I just stole his number from him but I think it looks pretty good it's a good picture number so um that's how I picked it luckily what stinks is when you get to the team everyone has like retired numbers so like you want me to know if you're in Fair number I was number five and you play for the Royals you'd be that'd be some bad luck because there's some guy named George Brett who is number five so you're not gonna be able to wear that one so we're like you really like 22 that's our manager so you got I got lucky that no one had 37 so I got my pick but like a lot of guys like Brewer like you show up they're not just gonna give you your favorite number you just gotta hope it's it's available yeah well I got a question for you what's your biggest dream in life what do you want to do go up and just be a baseball player baseball player all right well you keep working hard you'll be there one day all right all right and that's all for the little Chasers chat [Music]
