well your 365 ha wi Storm Chasers are out looking at how hurricane H is Shing up down next to the pier okay so here we are at the seaw wall at 8:00 on a Sunday morning it has been raining here in Kona since about 2:00 something like that and it is not pouring but it's not drizzling it's kind of just a medium rain uh one interesting thing is that the uh hone has turned into actually hurricane as it went by uh Hawaii island with uh Winds of I think it's 74 75 mph so it was that 1 mph differ that turned it into a hurricane uh it's moving off eventually it's going to head north towards the other Island it's probably going to miss all of them but what was interesting is last time we got something like this we had some really big waves but as of today at at Sunday morning it is fairly flat it's flatter than it normally is so it's interesting on how it changes the effects of what normally happens uh our normal patterns hey so um my son left to go to work this morning at Lava Java at like 6:30 and I'm like who's going to come out and have breakfast in the middle of a hurricane well look behind me people at Fish Hopper have lined the walls and uh it shows you that even in Kona during a hurricane people still love a good meal looking out at the ocean good okay okay so behind me is the women's team of the uh Canoe Club and um these guys are basically getting trained up for the queen uh little colani uh Canoe Race next weekend what's going to be interesting though is we're expecting a real hurricane behind this one to hit next weekend so let's see what happens with the canoe race but it's so nice to see these people out here saying you know what rain or shine I'm coming out here and train on top of the weather we're having a really high died so maybe a lot of you actually have not seen this Bay completely filled all the way back up past this area and uh it makes it so that it's not so damn cold because also if you know You' come in here we get that 58° fresh water mixing with the salt water so this actually brings it to a nice 80° so weird okay so as we have not been hit terribly badly around here uh the other sides of the island have definitely been getting hit pretty hard uh I heard there was 9 in of rain over on the east side I'm not exactly sure where uh flooding in CAU there's the main road got flooded out and then woa got some really good wind action and on the top of monay I heard it was 78 mph so definitely howling up there we got got a little bit of wind coming in now so hopefully you guys can can and the question always here is after it rounds the corner are we going to start to get the wind then that's the that's how this works kind of interesting okay one of the good news about this storm is the fact that uh it uh essentially DED the the whole island in uh rain which is good for the Fire season because what they were concerned about with this storm is that it would parts of the island would not get uh rain but we just get the wind which would could potentially stir up some of the wildfires right so they canceled the um the winded advisory and the Wildfire watch um however uh we uh see that Gilma is uh actually oddly enough strengthened to a category for overnight but by the time that she gets here um they're thinking that it's going to be uh downgraded to a tropical depression so um if you are on your way to Hawaii uh we might be having some just weather um just be prepared but uh nothing crazy which is always good news and uh one of the things Eric and I like to say is um we don't have newscasters on our Island we're it that's right we don't cover it out here in the day no yeah no one's going to get it so uh one of the things that we're not just realtorss we're storm casters so um if you guys uh if something else crazy shows up we'll come up on the screen definitely keep you informed because you know like I said after wraps we could get some wins some terrific wins but we'll see yeah this point it looks pretty good and uh you know they said that uh you know the um the other side of the island got a heck of a lot of more rain than we did um but uh again if you guys want to learn more about anything you do on the island though you can join our Ohana and get the monthly newsletter and you can go to 365d living.com to do that and I hope you guys are having a safe and amazing day and with that we say aloha aloha
