how you do did it feel like a long time coming for you to have a game like that yeah I mean a lot of stuff gets put in perspective know second injury I ain't played since October so it was a little motional you know going into the game be back out here in front of the fans with my teammates you know to have a game like that was felt thanking God really was it did it feel natural as well cuz you led the team in tackles yeah obviously yeah you know um yeah I felt like um going into the season you know I had a lot of people Doubt Me Maybe a lot people forgot the type of player I am so you know just go out there and grind and continue to you know play as confident as I can play with the special defense that I'm playing on I feel like it's just show what your take on the defense today L the way you guys got effort especially as the game continue yeah I mean I feel like we play well but we still left some you know plays out there um nothing from what they did just you know um mistakes that we made so I think that just still even though we play so well there so much stuff we can improve on to even be more Elite Def and the scooping score describe it in the nutshell yeah you know uh when it bounced I almost dropped it at first I was so excited cuz I knew that if I can catch it I get to the end zone and then you know just for it to get in my hand just a big smile on my face running down the field so it felt amazing you made a couple plays where so you talked about the long layoff since October maybe being Overlook it felt like you were maybe more demonstrative after some plays than you have been in the past did you did you feel that was it more emotional today for you than it has been previous in your career yeah most definitely like I said I feel like I've had so much you know such a change of perspective like no matter who we're playing um no matter what it is whether it's practice whether it's a game whether it's a scrimmage I'm just happy to be on the field so you know to make a play on the field I'm just it's just my emotion just playing through the that's really just emotion I'm been holding in so you know even get emotional speaking about it right now so I was excited to be out there playing game lean to go from 11 turnovers all year last year to three today how does it feel to get those you know that ball rolling I feel like those are kind of you know kind of get some momentum going turnover yeah that's that was a big emphasis um on this uh offseason was you know we had such a great defense last year led the nation and explosive play and stuff like that but we didn't have as many turnovers as we wanted so all offing we working on um getting as many turnovers as we can and you know showed in game one your assessment CJ and uh Sunny Styles two starting linebackers today how did they how did they fair in your opinion yeah I think they did good I mean it says a lot about you know Sunny Styles first of all to be you know playing will to playing Mike from last year playing safety to go in there you know being able to obtain all that information and go out there and play fast it's a lot about him and I think CJ also did really well um I think arell did well I think Gabe did well I think all our linebackers really our depth today went out there and made a lot of play what do you think of Denzel's pick oh man that was a great play I mean Denzel has been balling all spring all fall camp and it just continues to go into the game do you feel like the corners are jumping more routes nowadays knowing kind of what you guys need to bring this season I mean yeah I mean they playing like B Brian mention you guys practiced past three games this or three days this week how not worthy is that and how to you guys right now oh I mean we feel good but yeah we we uh I think just coach emphasized on the physicality we need to play with um coming from last year and I think that you know we continue to play physical we're going to continue to have them pad practice because you know that's what we need to do so uh what was it like finally to play with Caleb oh it was a lot of fun man it was a lot of fun I think that um it's been fun to play with him from um the offseason to go into play into a game he made a lot of plays full around out there so I can't wait to see what the season holds for us why is Archie Griffin mean to this program he means everything I mean you look at Arie he's achieved things that no one else has achieved in this program or achieved anywhere else so I mean he means everything his programs for him to be honor today was amazing why is it important to honor history or historical figures way you have yeah I think it's always I mean coming to Ohio state is such a historic school so to always do your research and and to know the history before it just makes it that much more important to know what you're wearing and that um Ohio St emblem so that's what we on to them talk about the physicality how much have that played a role in you guys' success as a defense today yeah I think that we're trying to be the most physical um hardest playing defense in the country I think a little bit that show today obviously we still got um where we can improve but um definitely a great first you said that you that was point of them coming off last year do you feel like you were physical enough defense last year yeah I feel like we were physical in this okay so you were saying you keep want to keep it rolling yeah keep it rolling exactly I feel like I mean we did a lot of great things last year but there's still always stuff to improve on I think that we're going to continue to do that um to get to where we want to get to the sh that fumble that you obviously scored it was second team defensive lineman ER canoe initially SL the quarterback Ken Curry had that massive hit what does that say about this defense line that you're playing behind and that kind of our defense line flies around you see I mean even some of them screens some of them passes they got to the perimeter they're flying around tracking it back I think coach J does such a good job of emphasizing how they run to the ball like if you look at our D line I think that's what separates him from across the country is how much they run to the ball so I mean they run to the ball and they make plays like that so exited to play with them I know you guys some called Kaden kind of a Maniac the way he runs what do you think of that hit oh man Kaden lit him up so I appreciate him doing that man how much how much does it free you up give you confidence to make a big play like that with the guys you have around you like Caleb Denzel everybody else I think that's what's so special about our defense is that by us just doing our job you never know who's going to make a player like there's always opportunity for any of us to make a big play in the game you seen Denzel we seen um gay today and stuff like that so I mean everyone just does their job them plays are going to come appreciate you guys thanks
