on this campus the Legends literally cement their handprints on the Legacy just a few steps away from Bryant Denny Stadium this is the home of the Alabama Crimson Tide today we have one of those games that test your focus top 25 team against an unranked opponent can you take care of business as we'll see a squad from conference USA the Western Kentucky Hill Toppers taking on the sixth ranked team in the land the Alabama Crimson tie 4A sports college football I'm Rees Davis joined here in the booth by David Po and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing [Applause] started Alabama about to kick off to get things started he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee and they'll bring it to the 25 the hill Toppers offense will get the first possession of the game here he comes and obviously defense is always going to be aware of a quarterback but boy he finds a way to put defenses on their heels all the time David I mean what can't he do he's got the weapons he's got the confidence he's got the experience Jesse these kind of guys are so hard to defend you're right they better be able to find a way to get pressure on him cuz if they don't this is going to be a long day finds that PR and he's got four out to the 29 you know it's so important for offens is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down on the run it's young cross the 30 out to the 33 and Gaines four on the play offensive linemen love to run the power why you run power you run power then you can play action you don't want that defense to be sitting there saying it's a pass it's a pass having the pass block every play you got to keep defenses off balance nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry man this is a defense that Prides themselves on stopping the run and that is a huge statement on their opponent's opening drive of the game third and short they don't just get a stop they get a tackle for loss that sends a very clear message that they're going to be the more physical side today good job by the coverage unit to stop the Return Man so Alabama's offense will have its first possession of the game you know yards figure to be hard to come by through the air but some quarterbacks Jesse just love to go at the star Corner yeah and this guy's Got Confidence he's not afraid to go at anybody but he better be careful because this quarterback is one of the best in the nation one of the best no doubt I think they will trust him on defense to make plays so you got to make a decision is my guy good enough to beat him on the outside I am fascinated by this match up eight- yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and [Music] short from the gun he leaves it with the back and he was able to run through one tackle but still only a modest game man a nice second effort by the back to break a tackle but how about those def backs willing to come up stick their face in the fan and make a tackle those are the best run defenses too right it's not just D linan and linebackers getting all the plays but it's DBS that are willing to not just cover but tackle backs in the open field he's got first down yardage across the 50 they'll mark it at the 49 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs wants to throw on first down tight end finds a soft spot got room at the 35 and good blocking and space out there to give him enough room to pick up the first down here's his offense with a fresh set of downs looking for room it's Young able to scr three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven you know runs like this often times are like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these are body blows and as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into longer runs scanning the field it's milro deep shot for the endend zone and the pass hit picked off and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick what a big gamechanging play I love when you see defensive players they jump on the ball like they were the offensive guys so aggressive going and getting that pick creating some big Mojo for your team the hill topper offense comes onto the field again last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable in that last strive they got to do something here here to get this defense on the Fels didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw using the quick game and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there hey I'll tell you what that slot receiver he may not be the biggest receiver in the world but he is Shifty and he runs really good routes you saw it on that play from the gun wants to pass unloads to the wide out it's complete and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play WoW and what a great job by that quarterback finding his open receiver on third down you know guys one of the most telling stats at the end of the game is third down conversion percentage if you're a great third down team it's invaluable to your offensive success and that's why teams drill third Downs so much in practice lost one on that last one it's second and 11 back to throw it's Fenley makes the grab along the sidelines but it'll be a little short of the first at on this is a very tough slot receiver to cover if you're a linebacker because of how quick and how Shifty he is you never seem to know which way he's going and he always seems to create an open space for his QB and a knock him down but he got past the line to gain and a great job by the QB finding the running back getting in the football where he can do some damage after the catch and most importantly get the first down running back searching for a hole breaks the tackle that's a really good job by the defense wrapping him up getting him on the ground take away that run game make him one dimensional putting in passing situations really good job by the defense secondary walks up on the line showing press coverage they'll ride the running back and leave it with him they'll get him stopped at the 34 he's got 10 yds on that one and a first down the hill Toppers come to the line with a new set of downs looking for a crease it's young they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one offensively you want to run that counter right to try to take advantage of hyperactive defenses but just poor execution not a good job understanding where I need to go when I bounce that thing backside it bounced outside you want to take that thing inside so the offense needs to operate a little bit better and maybe not run as much counter because the defense got in there pretty quick caught in the back field it's young what's important in this game this offense gets the running back involved out in the perimeter in space where he can do some damage that time they got it to him throwing the football picked up a couple of yards but it gives the defense something to think about he's right on target he's there to make the stop but the damage has been done as they pick up the first down on the throwing catch and the hilltop ERS have pushed it inside the 20 from the gun running back on the move here is trying to bash It Forward he got a couple it's down at the 11 going to work on second down in the red zone and still some ground to cover to pick up that first down they'll run it out of the shotgun makes one man miss birs his way ahead for about three it's down at the eight they'd love to pick up this third down and get a free fresh set with first and goal dropping back it's Fenley lets it go to the end zone touchdown Western Kentucky and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on them what did I start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start for this offense [Applause] getting set for the point after on for the extra point and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game that is what they mean when they say ball control a 14-play touchdown drive and they finish things off with an 8yd toss for the score boun is through the end zone it's a Touchback they'll bring it out to the 25 the tied offense rolls onto the field boy they had that last Drive moving a little bit David but then the mistake just crushed them yeah and those mistakes are going to happen you going to throw the football you're going to throw interceptions but I think I stay aggressive with this offense I get back to what I did in the first part of that drive what made me successful I agree David just turn the page if you're a quarterback right on this drive you did a lot of good things there leading up to that pick for get about it move on play the next qu they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the most insightful analysis I can come up with on that one is that didn't work back to the drawing board to see if there's something that works a little better soon or if I can quote the great Reese Davis that was very un good not a productive first down play didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short gain there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down now trying to keep this drive alive on Third and long from the 45 back to throw it's milroe he'll try to do it himself how about that nice run from this junior quarterback [Applause] that's the end of the quarter Western Kentucky is on top we've played one before we move on let's have a look at the stats Alabama lots of time left and we're ready to get back to it and open the second period they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first [Applause] down 22 the give from the gun and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground just a simple power play again not sexy run the ball up the middle physicality offensive line assert themselves run block what they love to do this pays dividends down the road in the fourth quarter off play [Applause] action grab near the sticks it's Bernard good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch the tide with the first intact from the gun they'll try to impose their running game and they drag him down but not before he picks up the first down first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and and right here just chews up another first down gives you another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an explosive play waiting to happen his vision his quickness and he's got a burst if you give this guy just a crease he's going to hit it right now he's doing some damage on this defense the tie trying to pay off this Red Zone trip trying to run it's Miller trying to run it in in the Red Zone he's got four and he's down at the 12 and you know when we talk about great third down defense is it really starts with them getting stops on first and second down you've got to get those stops early in the drives to set up third and long so that's a missed opportunity on that second down by this defense he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first and goal from the e he might have expected to see this DB up in his receiver's kitchen instead nice little Zone and they pick up the first man offenses are getting so good Reese at seeing the holes in the zone knowing you're in zone knowing where to sit down how to make it an easy pitch and catch for the quarterback and that's what it was on third sh quick strike complete tackled there by the defense this quarterback right now is in improve and he's doing a nice job in crease now he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm stopping the run is very high on every defensive coordinator's list making the team onedimensional nice job stuff on the run on that play right there this quarterback part of their running game and he's loose and he'll take it to the house touchdown TI an impressive long methodical meticulous Drive ends in points they just matriculated the ball down the field didn't they re so impressive didn't see a lot of explosive plays but how about the execution running and throwing the football wow now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic bangs it through for an extra point precise Relentless execution on that 13pl scoring drive it was closed out by the short yardage touchdown and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line here comes the Western Kentucky offense back onto the field after standing on the sideline and watching that long touchdown Drive they really need to put something together to give their defense a rest and that's a real thing man like youve played a lot of plays you get worn out you need a chance to go decompress in the sideline get some oxygen Palmer now it's on this offense yeah this is the definition of complimentary football cuz it's a two-prong problem you've got to score points and answer but you've also got to take your time and give your defense an opportunity to get their win he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well the offensive line had everybody blocked except the defensive end he was able to sneak into the Back Field and get the tackle for LS and the running game has been going in the wrong direction they'll try to get their first positive play of the drive here on and the quarterback caught up two and sacked at the 12 man that's a great example of kyp know your personnel a QB that doesn't run great trying to get outside the pocket nice job by the defense applying pressure and running him down and getting the huge loss the hill Toppers send out the punt unit three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them out slips through the line and the punt team gets down there and gets the Return Man On The Ground here comes that Alabama offense how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last last time they had it defense gets a stop and now it's up to them in a tie game all right so if you're the offensive coordinator here let's dial it in who are your best matchups and best Playmakers to take advantage of this golden opportunity yeah and I'm interested to see this defense too like the momentum is clearly not in your favor how do you get it back how do you make a big play do you be more aggressive here to try to get the football back to your offense hey nice job by the offense there attacking the middle of the field excellent route finding the soft spot in the defense nice job by the quarterback putting it right on his guy just inside the Red Zone first and 10 from the 19 looking to move it through the air he's got an open man he's there to make the stop but not before he sets up this offense first and goal from the seven defense is backed up shadow of the goal post trying to defend their own End Zone looking to throw it's milro makes the grab and he's into the end zone touchdown Alabama one of the reasons this offense is so exciting to watch they've got guys that are dangerous after the catch at this quarterback gets through his progression David he hits you in stride these guys will take it to the house man it's your job to do the rest right you hit me in stride where I don't have to stop running I don't have to break down it makes it so easy the connection between quarterback wide receiver you can tell this is a good one and that's why they got six on that play lining up for the pat exra point and the pat gives him a 14-7 lead quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they close the deal with the seven Yer for the [Applause] score and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 the hill topper offense comes onto the field again the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm and that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum just got one on that last run now second and nine from their own 26 he's looking to throw he makes the catch close to the sticks but he'll be a little short of the first down sideline that man coverage when they get up in your face they make things hard you want to be able to attack the whole field and get them lean in One Direction and then break outside like you did there nice out route connection nice Chemistry Between quarterback and wide receiver third and short like that on your own side of the field you just looking for a quick hitter you're trying to get the ball out of your hand quickly but the timing completely off there for the offense and the ball Falls incomplete no return coming he'll call for the fair Catch first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute [Applause] warning good timing on the quick out and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning it's the two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can tack a little something extra on their lead before the break [Applause] dropping back it's milroad keeps the play going they get enough rush and it pays off the sack at the 20 we got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here wide receiver now com comes in motion on Third and long try to convert through the air just flying through the air like a superhero to make the grab no wonder he's the favorite Target just going and reeling in everything catching everything and if it ain't broke don't fix it I mean he continues to make plays for his quarterback so if I'm his quarterback I'm going to continue to find him and let him p and the ball is caught he's inside the 35 touchdown Crimson TI and once he found daylight it was ktie Bar the Door baby this offense is really dangerous because of the weapons they have on the perimeter of the field and you're seeing they go to these guys early and they try to give them opportunities in one-on-one situations and vertically down the field two passing touchdowns now early for this offense they'll try to add another to their lead extra point and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they finish with a 62 yd pass for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 here comes the Western Kentucky offense back onto the field not a lot of time left here in the half let's see if they can cut into this lead and this drive isn't a must score but man you look at the scoreboard you're down two scores Jesse you got a good opportunity create some momentum cut it to a one- score game this is an important position session yeah it's important to create that momentum now David to and not wait to get it going here at the start of the third quarter you got one drive here to get a couple of points you've got to start erasing and chipping away at this deficit this could be where the game turns right [Applause] here they'll spread the defense out going five wide on second and 10 to the air it's Fenley he's got it down the middle there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down clock stops momentarily for the first down they'll hurry to the line they'll throw it on first down grabbed over the middle it's Hutchinson they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down little bit more to to go after that last completion they'll try to pick it up on second down he's looking to throw they've got the screen set up he's run out of bounds but he's got enough to move the sticks and this offense I think will do a good job in this game deying up the football and distributing it to different guys in the passing game it won't just be receivers it's not going to be tight ends this running back he's a weapon too after he catches it you saw it right there setting up the screen he makes the stop but a nice pick up there on first down leaves him in second and manageable a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half time after that last completion it's second down he's looking to throw and he drops it just took his eye off of it at the last minute well they're trying to hit the out route to the perimeter of the field it's a good route by the wide receiver he just drops the ball already in Chip Shot field goal range at the 20 one but this third and short they're still thinking touchdown the quick out tackled but he has a first down and this junior quarterback shows you why the scouts love that big arm of his and on that third and short I don't think he was on happy to see that zone nope was a great job by the offense hey see where the holes in the zone are sit down you only need a little bit of yards on this third down get the conversion move the sticks they'll try to kick it into overdrive clock running second down coming wants to throw it's Finley fires into the end zone and it's caught touchdown Hill topper and I tell you what that passing touchdown man that should spark this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this The Comebacks in full effect P unit on the field and with the extra point they're down a touchdown 2114 they put together a 74 yd touchdown drive and they finish things off with an 8yd toss for the score fair catch called for and me [Applause] [Music] time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the [Music] [Applause] [Music] half the back goes in motion they'll crank up this drive with a pass snagged in the middle it's brenus they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more plays they'll snap it from the 39 first and 10 he wants to throw going for the big play pass Falls incomplete and there are still 3 seconds left well you wonder if the defense has started to figure it out finally here in the first half this guy has been absolutely lighting you up and finally they get some bodies back there anticipating the QB to look his way to force incompletion looking to pass on second down he's not afraid to go deep ball in the air intercepted and the defender is tackled and that's how we'll run out the first half that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin and our halftime update gentlemen what else is new a spirited environment there in Tuscaloosa each of these two offenses has looked like well oiled machines but it doesn't take a genius to figure out these two passing attacks have run circles around these defenses man or Zone nothing seems to be working and I'm not sure that defensive coordinator is going to be able to figure things out here at halftime and with that said let's send it back to the guys at Bryant Denny Stadium all right Kevin about ready to get things crank back up [Applause] here and the hill Toppers will kicking away to start the second half you'll call for the fair catch here the tied offense rolls onto the field they had the lead to start the third quarter but I'd imagine ball security was a topic at halftime yeah and I think you take the lead and you try to stay optimistic with your team but you also say guys if we had have taken care of the football this lead would be even bigger we might have already knocked them out already pal it's just about eliminating the mistakes at this point you're right this thing would be over if they hadn't shot themselves in the foot so ball security that is at a premium as this game goes on Miller with the ball cross the 30 out to the 33 in games four on the play I think you run that play so you stay out of third and long third and long is not where an offense ever wants to thrive third and medium hey I'm good with that so you run that play to make sure you're set up for a good third down and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up you know you talk so much about QBs right and having to make really good decisions there's a great example he didn't see anybody open downfield he didn't hesitate for one second he put his hand down and he took off and went running and generated an explosive play for the offense Alabama with a first and 10 here quarterback reacting to what the D is showing off play action on first down right down the middle incomplete and very lucky that one wasn't picked off and man could they have used that it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again looking to throw it's milro wide open downfield they make the stop but the sweet throwing catches plenty to give him a first down well there's an example of how this tight end can be a big weapon in the pass G that time on the corner r doeses a nice job separating from the defender and Hauling in the catch they'll throw it on first down it's complete head to the end zone touchdown Bama if this dude for a kitchen night he would be slicing tomatoes so thin your in-laws would never come back to your house well that'd be a good thing I don't know if I want my in-laws to come back anyways but he's been on fire he's been absolutely torching this defense they've had Absol absolutely no answers for him lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead so that was a six Place 75 yd drive and the score comes on a 12yd touchdown pass kickoff team is on the field they'll try to drive this one deep and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 the hill topper offense comes onto the field again now we'll get a chance to see if they can answer that last score trailing by 14 Jesse Yeah and at this point of the game I feel like offensively you should go back to what's been working for you in this game don't be afraid to dial up plays that you've already had success with running it and throwing it it's okay to repeat plays down 14 at this point and I would also say Palmer kind of understanding that my defense is not playing great so I know offensively I got to put some good possessions together here make something happen on this side of the football the snap sets up to throw it's caught they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down that last completion sets him up on second down they'll run it from the gun get him on the ground after a four yd run out to the 31 you see they need more runs like that just it's been so few and far between defensively they've been in position they've been winning their one-onone battles getting off of blocks and rallying to the ball carrier this defense has done a nice job slowing down the Run game thus far Slamm to the ground but not before he gets to first down everybody on the same page there on Blitz pickup right off line everybody communicating understanding where they have to work to give their QB time to make an accurate throw and pick up the first and the quarterback is snowed under really nice play when you talk about Alabama and their dominance on defense especially in recent years it all starts up FR you have to have disruptors playing on the defensive line guys that can be versatile and line up in different positions but create havoc in the back field and that's what this guy has been able to do throughout his career [Applause] after the big first down sack for the D it's second down from the gun the ground game a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior he's and this offense just has to find a way to convert this third down or else they are really in trouble looking to throw it's Finley he'll off one deep down the L left side offense on the move a big play there gets it to the 30 man this offense is so dangerous Reese they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels he's going to let one fly down the middle and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming let's see what they've got on second down it's a reverse that play just never had a chance they knock him down for a loss of five this will be the eighth play of the drive but a great opportunity for the defense to get off the field on Third and long he's going to have to turn one loose down field pulls it in it's Smith and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker they'll send out the kicker here doesn't have a straight on shot here he'll kick it from the left hash and 39 yds out splits the upright it's good that makes the score 17 [Applause] [Music] after that last field goal Drive they're set to kick it away Ki the ball bounces through the end zone and it will be a Touchback here comes that Alabama offense really good balance on that last Drive they mixed it up all over the place Jesse yeah how nice too to have the defense on their heels because at this point they don't know what's coming at him they had problems stopping everything that last drive so I think this defense would come back with a little more aggressiveness I mean they let them have what they wanted now they got to dictate to this offense a little bit more looking downfield it's milroad gets open down the middle they'll Mark him down at the 40 after ripping off 10 and this junior loves to show off that big arm that's a real good looking throw and I I know at Alabama recently they've had a lot of different quarterbacks and they've had also had a lot of different guys calling the plays but one thing that's never seemed to waiver is how explosive the offense has been and the big reason is because of the efficient play they've had consistently year in year out at the quarterback position as well they recruited extremely well they coach these guys up and this is a guy who loves football loves the X's and O's and you're seeing it translate on the field right now [Applause] receiver on the Move gets the touch pass inside the 40 and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play I love that play call and I love the timing of the pre-nap motion because the quarterback was able to get it to the receiver right behind the offensive line because of the timing he was able to outflank the defense that puts him out in space where he's able to use his speed nice job with the pre-nap motion and time Alabama Rolling quickly downfield set up with another first [Applause] down they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust a strike downfield nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down you know the defense they just haven't been able to find an answer for this guy throughout the course of the game obviously he's got two touchdowns picks up the first down there they've tried doubling them they've tried man coverage Zone coverage nothing working on defense they can't stop [Applause] them2 42 from the Red Zone he's going to throw it he wants it all saged in the end zone touchdown TI man really nice job attacking the middle of the field you see those safeties man I want to split them he splits it right down the middle throws that post right on the numbers catches the ball in the end zone touchdown on to attempt the try for the extra oh how could that happen he misses the extra point so that was a six-play 75 yd drive and they finish it by firing one in from the 13 for the score and they desperately wanted to attempt a return but decided not to instead they'll take the Touchback the drive starts from their own 25 yd line the give to the tail back ripping off a pretty good chunk of yardage they've got it out to the 41 with a first down man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out open the drive with a chunk play out past the 40 and they are in business on first [Applause] down right back to the well not much working there it'll be second and nine kept it on the ground on first down now back to the line gives it to the back on the draw he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three I like the idea of going draw there you're trying to sell pass but you still need to do a better job up front executing those blocks there's too many one-on ones where they got beat and as a result they suffer a negative play to the wide out oh he dropped the football he had it right in the middle of the field and just ran before he finished the catch it'll be fourth down the hill Toppers will try to pin them back with the punt not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch the tide offense rolls on the field how about that last drive just carved him up in the air David yeah and how about that quarterback you gave him the ball and he delivered the goods great job taking apart the defense Jesse on that last drop he really did David I mean that was a master class in just reading coverage and being accurate building momentum picking up a chunk of yardage moving the chains out to the 34 as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter to the air it's milro finds his tight endend and brought down looks except That's How we'll end the third and you want to talk about his favorite receiver it might be everybody based on the number of guys getting touches in a chance to show off their hands in the passing game one more period to go and we'll see just how much fight they've got left in them we'll get this quarter going with a second down play [Applause] from the shotgun the inside give that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there ball is at the 42 yd line close to four down territory here's third and short quarterback will audible on Third and short they'll try to throw for it got him down field really nice job to convert that third down and they've got it at the 33 well this guy's been a go-to guide for this offense all game long we've seen that and here on a critical third down late in the game with the lead guess who shows up with another big one that guy this Alabama offense is clicking they're set up with another first down out of the gun the inside hand off looking for a crease they finally make the stop with the big run is plenty to move those sticks for the first down first snap in the Red Zone on this drive trying to cap this drive with the pass got it crisp execution in the passing game and they've got it down to the three how about the mix of play calls on this drive three runs three passes and now they're in business and just keeping the defense completely off balance when you think it's a run it's a pack touchdown Alabama and the route is on Precision blocking up front created the open Lane and the running back followed it beautifully yeah I it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line that makes those holes and just gives you a caravan all the way to the end zone what an unbelievable job blocking up front [Applause] he'll try to tack on one more on for the extra point and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further so a drive there of 85 yds and Clos the deal with a three- yd touchdown run from inside his own 15 trying to follow his blockers just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 here comes the Western Kentucky offense back onto the field David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the P this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a rhythm best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense back to pass it's Fenley he's got his man they get him on the ground but it's a first down good job by the receiver there not to run into coverage but to find a spot that the quarterback could throw him the ball yeah on those types of routs Reese they say if you're looking you're booking so if that's man coverage the receiver staring at the quarterback all the way across the field that time the receiver didn't give the quarterback's eyes so they were on the same page they both knew it was Zone and they executed that [Applause] perfect they keep attacking through the air and that has picked off going the other way and he's got room how through and they capitalized not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position and as a defensive lineman late in the game man when you know it's passed you're pinning your ears back trying to get to the quarterback and DBS are trying to do this pad them stats get the int nice job by this D [Music] [Music] here comes that Alabama offense how about the way they attacked the last time they had the ball mixing run and pass and winding up in the end zone Jesse that's why recruiting is so important they've got weapons at every skill position on the field any of these guys is dangerous if they touch the football let's see what they do on this drive David and so Palmer I got to take away something I can't let them have everything and have success I got to be aggressive against the run or play for the pass I can't give them everything and the ball is free on the pitch how about that alert play from the defense to Corral that fumble and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own a first down for the offense he's going to pass throws to the wide out the pass is incomplete but there's a flag in the back field and that shot the quarterback took might have been a little too much defense def that was right on the borderline you want to make that quarterback feel you but the official thought it was a little too much the roughing the passer penalty the defense in a most benevolent move giving the offense a new set of downs quickly complete he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down here's the deal you're down three possessions you know it doesn't feel likely they're going to come back and win but we've seen crazier stuff happen in college football it all starts with a big completion on a two-minute Drive they'll get the momentum has Rush coming after the quarterback and they get him at the 32 and how about the complimentary football this defense getting another sack they' already got an interception offens has played great both sides of the football together dominating this football now the offense has to overcome the negative play after the defense comes up with a sack back to throw it's Fenley unloads to the wide out a beautifully placed ball to the outside in the tow drag for the big pickup beautiful job by the wide receiver and let's hold on just a minute here as the officials are going to have a second look and they take another look at the play but the officials on the field we're right and the play will stand and the hill Toppers are threatening on first and goal here we go they'll try to get it in with the Run they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one really nice job by the defense understanding first and goal what a most people do first and goal they're going to try to run the football in the defense says Nah not in my house nice job getting in the back field getting the stop on second down he'll let it fly got it good solid tackle you know the defense doesn't have an answer for this slot guy right now and maybe they want to think about bracketing him having a Defender play the outside and to the inside probably some sort of Zone coverage where you're trying to get two bodies forcing the quarterback to have to go somewhere else about the offense the offense goes with the run on Third and goal thinking they can push it in there and be physical the defense is having absolutely none of that nice job by the defense committing to the Run being physical and stuffing this offense he's not going to get there stopped short on fourth down I like it this defense plays aggressive on Fourth and short and they are rewarded figured they would run the football they did nice job getting some penetration and stopping that fourth down play they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one the whole point of running the quarterback on these designed runs is to get an extra blocker you should be getting more movement up front but that time guys were getting knocked backwards and as a result they actually lost a yard he hits that hole it opened up for him as he gets six all the way out to the 9yd line You' got a third and manageable backed up in your own end but convert here and you get some momentum quarterback changing the plays at the line to the air it's milro oh he wants it all and trying to put points on the board on third down now they're staring at Fourth Down how about that the mindset of the offensive coordinator you got a really big lead you're sitting really pretty but I think this is just about rubbing your nose in it and trying to make bigger plays down the field but the defense finally got a stop and they need some more of those and some big plays to get back in this game he'll bring it back it's Hutchinson and they'll bring him down to get the offense started on the next Drive first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute [Applause] warning he wants to start this drive with a pass and he dropped it it looked for all the world like that would be a catch and he just got too excited second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning he's looking to throw this time it's complete makes that one pay off and they finally get him down at the 38 it'll be first down new set of downs after that completion looking to go up top on first down caught over the middle it's Smith and they do a really good job not as easy as it looks to get those blocks and he picks up the first down the hill Toppers come to the line with a fresh set of downs the aerial assault continues receiver looks it in it's complete the offense gets a quick timeout at this point every second is pressure and I know this football game is over but we got to keep fighting we got to keep finding something some kind of Rhythm in this offense some we can hang our hat on that we do really really well listen the intermediate passing game like this has taken over college football short to intermediate so if they can find some of this it'll help their offensively recove well they' love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal to the air it's Fenley they get enough rush and it pays off the sack of the 20 the defense puts the exclamation point on the day they have had a wonderful day man doing everything great just you could they were dialed into what was going on and now just throw another sack in the equation hitting the quarterback being disrupted they've been all over the field coach has no choice here the offense has to stay on the field down multiple possessions this leate for unleashes one deep and it's incomplete and this defense makes a fourth down stop offensively this is a beautiful time out because now I I get to get all my other guys in the game guys that don't get to play that much we're up this game's over after that missed fourth down conversion now to get everybody the ball or you choose J probably you go pad some stats get some more catches get some more rush yards that's that your thing got three on first down it's second and seven out of the gun the running back has it at the 35 he's got room ripping off a pretty good chunk of yardage they've got it out to the 41 with a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs and on fourth down they'll take a knee but this one was just about over a strong methodical workmanlike effort from this team No Frills just get the job done and get the win I love when you describe my teams like that just consistent you know methodical strong I don't have to do things special every single week all I'm supposed to do is get the W and that's what they did and this is why practice is so important guys you can tell that this team was locked in way back earlier in the week they watched the film they got good looks in practice they knew what to anticipate they knew what looks they were going to see and when those looks presented themselves boy boy they ever take a advantage that's going to do it for us from here for Jesse Palmer David Pollock I'm reys Davis and this has been another presentation of EA Sports college football [Music]
