Novavax (2024-2025) Covid Vaccine, Approved August 30th, 2024

today August 30th 2024 the FDA approved the novavax updated covid vaccine formula for the 2024 2025 vaccine the updated novax vaccine was approved under emergency use authorization by the FDA the new formulation is approved for those 12 years of age and older and again it's targeted to the jn1 variant which is an older more ancestral strain of covid when compared to the kp2 variant that the MRNA vaccines are targeted to this year if you're 12 years of age or older have never been vaccinated against covid you're eligible to receive two doses of the novax vaccine 3 weeks apart and then for those that have receive two doses or more of a prior formula of the novax vaccine or for those who have been vaccinated prior from another manufacturer like fiser or madna you are eligible to receive a single dose of the updated novax vaccine at least 2 months after the last dose and as a result of today's Announcement by the FDA the prior version of the 2023 2024 formula is no longer authorized for use however that shouldn't be a problem because their entire stock expired back in April so it hasn't been available since then anyways going off of info from last year novax vaccines can primarily be found at Costco Safeway and healthmart Atlas and I've also heard that some CVS locations also stock novax I would expect the novax vaccine to become available sometime next week
