Can a revamped Colorado offense get the Buffs into a bowl game? | College Football Live

what would you say uh described your conversation with Coach Prime well coach Prime uh talked to us a few minutes ago here and he's kind of been chatting all day it is Media day and I think here's a few takeaways of Victoria I would take from coach Prime uh you know the the the general expectation question came up for Colorado this year and he he laughed at me he said of course we expect to win who comes to Media day and says they don't expect to win I do think Colorado expects to win differently and that was one of my big takeaways Victoria with two new coordinators both of whom have extensive NFL experience the Buffalo are going to look a lot different on the field this year last year they ran a quintessential Collegiate offense the art bals Balor offense that former coordinator Shawn Lewis ran with a refortified offensive line which was the worst in college football last year they have five new starters and Dion really said in order to win this year they need to run the ball he said we know shador can spin it but in order to run the ball that's how they're going to win games so I think we're going to see a different identity from Colorado especially on the offensive end and Dion was not shy talking about shador and Travis Hunter NFL draft prospects he told me they could go number one and two in the draft next season oh wise words you got to spin it run it win it all right thank you Pete all right L Sam quickly what do you guys think listen I I think that he's 100% correct with the assessment that he made regarding the Run game because it ties into everything else it protects shador it gives the offensive line a bit of a break it gives the offensive line confidence and then for their defense to get some rest if you can sustain some drives and not just be a big explosive play offense it's always trying to take the shots so I I couldn't agree with him more Sam in in regards to his assessment there and of course they expect to win for all of us expect to win how many is the question we're all asking yeah and I think part of the the what's going to be different for Colorado this year more than just the hype is in fact the lines of scrimmage not just the offensive line we talked about it five new starters on the offensive line shador Sanders is the son of the coach he's the son of Deion Sanders coach Prime does not want to see his son get sacked more than any other college football player so what he saying is let's revamp our offensive line let's revamp not only our own line what would he what what did we see last year let's change coordinators let's actually change our style of offense to keep shador a little more protected and then last but not least you talked about the offensive side let's start to run the ball more and so different offensive style different offensive scheme will help you on the offensive side I'm also interested about the defensive line of scrimmage as well because that'll help move this team forward as well there's no question I mean when you when you look at Colorado and you look at their their starters or Frontline guys you what type of body types do they have right do they look the part do they look like their peers that they strive to compete with that are at the top level of the league or top across college football are they there yet with their depth you mentioned the offensive change of philosophy and Pat Shermer coming in as the offensive coordinator it's also going to be different on the defensive side of the football and so now you have two different approaches they've kind of taken a year they tried the first experiment of the first round of the transfer portal that didn't necessarily go the way you thought it would and now all of a sudden you go back into the portal and you revamp it again and now you've got the coaching changes along the staff I think this is one of the most fascinating programs in teams to watch in college football this year all right we're going to bring Pete back in too Pete what's the key to protecting shador I think the key to protecting shador will be having less snaps uh by the end of last season shador missed the Utah game and he was the most pressured quarterback in college football Colorado ran the 14th fastest offense by Pace person in the sport I think we're going to see that number dialed back significantly this year Les snaps or shador a new line in theory even though there's five new starters will mean less pressure on shador I think keeping shador upright is going to be the key to Colorado season going [Music]
