waiting all week for this one get ready folks the opening kickoff is finally here Smith from the four at the 30 down at the 36 yd line now the offense gets ready to take their first crack at it 4 he's tackled at about the 39 yd line Second down at seven coming up here ball on their own [Music] 39 gets it out to his receiver in a hurry love it gains about four yards there makes it third [Music] and 4 black black he unloads it they'll bring him down at about the 25 yd line the receiver never took his eyes off the ball and even though the defender was all over him he still managed to play the ball for a big completion so after the big pass play we've got a first down a yard maybe two on the carry do and he's hit immediately that one goes for good yardage and a first down yeah that's just a nice gain on second down and first down and they've got their eyes on that goal line touchdown Georgia outstanding run and great execution by the entire offensive unit especially the blocking up front and he converts the extra point it was a six playay 64 yd drive and it's good for seven points Brad I thought that was a textbook Drive I thought they did a really good job of showing balance mixing the play calling with the run in the pass just an overall well executed touchdown Drive he'll return it from the three they'll bring him down at the 31 yd [Applause] line so here comes the offense taking the field for the first time today tackle at the 27 yd line and you're an option quarterback you get used to getting popped pretty quickly he'll bounce right back up so it's second and 14 ball on the 27 gets it out quickly brought down in the open [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] field let get this two two and they make the stop right around the 44 yd line first down 10 yds to go ball on their own 44 easy easy easy takes a hand off tackled for a loss the defense was all over that draw play and they got very good containment on the halfback he had nowhere to go with the [Applause] football and he's taken down at the 37 yd line 37 yd L makes it first and 10 first down 10 to go ball on the 37 yd line here they come just throws this one away even though they didn't sack him the pressure was still enough to force a bad pass if you can get in there and dis up to pocket and the quarterback is going to have a tougher time getting the ball to his Playmakers run right hit in the back field here's the eighth play of the series stays in bounds and made a nice catch from the 22 yd line it's first down fumbo loose ball they bring him down in the back field and they're lucky to retain possession of the ball there 10th play of the [Applause] drive fires in a hurry interception and the safety's all alone and no one's going to catch him the five touchdown Bulldogs [Applause] the Tigers saw one of their key guys go down earlier but it looks like he might be able to get back in the action and he adds the extra point Georgia lines up for the kickoff [Applause] he really got a hold of that [Applause] kick and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback this defensive end has been a force Kirk well he's just one of those defensive players that if you're an offensive coordinator you're basically building your game plan around his skills so the offense will come back out onto the field hoping for a little better result than that last pick six this quarterback needs to be a little bit more careful because this defense is excellent on capitalizing off the mistakes there are three quarters remaining the Bulldogs lead it by two touchdowns welcome back here we resume action now here in the second quarter two two he gets rid of this one great jot by the defense at getting after that quarterback and right now I think they've got him with some Happy Feet he appears to be a bit rattled now it's third Six coming up B on their own 29 complete brought down nothing doing only three yds there on the throw well it's a good job here to just secure the football but he just doesn't have enough speed to turn that into something [Applause] big Swanson is waiting for the snap signals for a fair [Applause] catch you think about the challenges these two teams are facing on one side you've got to find a way to keep building on your lead and on the other side you've got to find a way to get back in [Applause] it they can't hang on to it tackle made the 47 yd line this guy is so versatile you can use him at the line as an extra blocker or send him down field like another wide receiver either way he's a great resource on every down and he's going to lose big yardage he's tackled immediately after the catch that's a 6yd loss that's just a sound play by the defense they dropped him well short of the line of scrimmage it's second down and a long way to go go ball in their own 47 with the pass incomplete BR it looked to me that the quarterback just put too much of a touch on the ball instead of just getting back there getting his feet under him and throwing the football I think he tried to put too much air under the ball and he ended up under throwing throws it into coverage and it's intercepted inter we've got a first and 10 ball on the 37 quick throw and down he goes at the [Applause] 46 check check two two he's taken down at the 48 yd line that's a makes it first and 10 from the 48 yd line first down brought down around the 33 yd line a good play fake that time here the play action was key held the linebacker was there by the fake by the running back and the running back did a very nice job of carrying out his fake from the 33 yd line first down got a man and it to the [Applause] ground left [Applause] left gives it left side he gets out to about the 32 yd line Y that'll make it third and third down and they need to get it to the [Music] [Applause] 23 georgees going to take their first time out of the [Applause] [Applause] half he steps out right around the 28 yd line fourth down and the offense is still on the field complete but he's wrapped up and he won't get it unable to convert on fourth down and the ball changes hands they threw a pick the last time out should be interesting to see what they do this time this quarterback can make good passes he just needs to focus on not forcing the ball to his receiver feeling the pressure and he fumbles a football and he's tackled around the 22 yd line close one there maybe the ball carrier will try a little harder to secure the ball next time it's second down 12 to go ball on the 22 yd line dangerous throw this one's picked off he's tackled at about the 29 yd line that int puts him in a position to make this again yeah they really needed that that's a huge boost to morale they'll make the sack the smart quarterbacks and offensive linemen have a really unique relationship a quarterback should take care of his offensive lineman but after that play and that hit really got to be wondering what kind of relationship this quarterback and his offensive lineman have after that quarterback all by himself s in the back field with five wide outs and he throws it [Applause] away third down and they need to get it to the 19 they come out on an empty Back Field and he might want it all here and does he's all the way home touchdown [Applause] and he TS on the extra point looks like they're ready for the kick he's to the 20 he's taken down at the 26 yd line let's see if he can shake off that pick that he tossed last timeout I look for the offense to come out with the same game plan as before you don't make changes after one play goes R picked off inside the 30 intercep from the 26 yd line it's first down two two caught and he's out of bounds that's a [Applause] [Applause] loss and he just gets rid of it third down and they need to get it to the [Applause] 15 Steps up in the pocket tosses out to the tail back on the screen and they push him out at about the 27 yd line quick throw out to the receiver incomplete unable to pick up the first down and the ball will change hands momentum swings have been fairly even and with so little separation this game can be drastically changed on just one or two plays Georgia up seven points and he's immediately tackled 4 first and 10 ball on the 46 yd line Gorge is going to have to use their second time out of the [Applause] [Music] [Applause] half fires quickly and he's got his man knocked out of Bounds at the 34 yd line that makes it from the 34 yd line first [Applause] down they'll bring him down around the 24 yd line the Bulldogs they're going to have to call their third and final timeout that it [Applause] and he makes it out to about the 21 yd line so they go on the ground and pick up another first down they are stringing together a nice little drive here if they keep this up it'll be hard to keep him out of the end zone first and 10 B on the 21 burs On The Run got his tight end big play there and now they're looking at first and goal that makes it first [Applause] [Music] and Tackle at the one yd line Second down and goal ball on the one Georgia is up a score touchdown Georgia and he hits the pat a seven playay 73 yd drive and they get it in for seven Brad I thought the offense did a really nice job of mixing up the play calling on that drive I thought the defense was on its heels most of the drive because of the versatility of the offense this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback the defense was able to stop this offense short on fourth down last time let's see what they do this opportunity the last time this offense was out on the field they went for it on fourth down Brad and they came up short I think as an offensive coordinator and a play caller you've got to be very selective on when to go for it and when maybe to just punt the ball to change the field position hi everybody glad to have you with us on the EA Sports NCAA Football 14 halftime show presented by Nissan Innovation that excites Davis Dave Pollock here in the studio as always to lend a little perspective to what just went down in the first 30 minutes this team's now got a hill to climb in the second half we anticipated it being a tight game but as you watched this team late in the half you started to see guys looking for answers you could almost sense it they were looking at who's going to take ownership who's going to lead and make a play somebody has to step up right now David yeah no doubt about it when you come into games you feel like you have this huge game plan and all this stuff you want to accomplish and sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes you got to start changing things around and sometimes it's simple sometimes the quarterback needs to come in the Huddle and say hey guys youall want to protect me a little better you know you they need to say some things that that makes people feel uncomfortable sometimes to get a rise at them and knowing your team sometimes middle linebackers have to get the defense all in tight and say listen you need to make sure you're taking care of this they've been killing us on this route it's your fault step up the leaders in the Huddle a lot of times can say the things that the coaches can't and get a different reaction well maybe it's time I say something to you too it's time for you to pick up your game at Halftime just about time to start the second half what do you think her Street's first point of analysis will be uh I don't know something to do with quarterback play I'm sure we always got to hear that stuff all the time all about the quarterbacks Brad and Kirk ready for the second half and we welcome you back to the action here just about set for the second half and he got all of this one great kick and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback there's got to be some sense of urgency to this offense right now they don't have the luxury of wasting drives if they want to get back in the game and they'll bring him down behind the line that was a designed quarterback draw and it results in a loss of around two it's second and 12 ball in the 23 and he's taken down at about the 33 yd line bring third and two got a man watch out here and they make the stop around the 41 yd line first from their own 41 yd line first down the he passes it intercepted he gets hit Out of Bounds at the 42 yd line he's pushed out of bounds around the 36 yd line from the 36 yd line it's first down quick out to his receiver and he hits him hard and at the [Applause] 20 from the 20 yd line first down [Applause] Let It Go and it's caught for the touchdown they pretty much had their way with the defense there terrific [Applause] play he splits the uprights with the extra point [Applause] [Applause] tackle at the 41 Clemson's getting stopped right now they're unable to get anything going here in the third quarter well I think what they have to do at this point is they've got to get into a little bit more of a hurry up mode a little bit more urgency score and hope that the defense can come up with a stop and hope you can get the ball back and put more points on he gets to about the 24 yd l line there's nothing more effective that a team can do offensively than to pound the ball right at the defense trying to wear him down first down 10 yds to go ball on the 24 yd line fires out quickly to the tail back he's in for the score and they're back in it [Applause] and he adds the extra point a quick two-play 42 yd drive and it results in a touchdown so the score now 2814 everyone's all lined up and ready for the kickoff taken at the five he's out to the 30 brought down at the 32 yd line George's offense has really been firing on all cylinders especially here in the third quarter well they got off to a good start and they've been able to maintain that maybe take it to a different level in the third quarter it's going to require that for them to be able to get out of here with a r well they got the result you always want on the last Drive let's see if it happens again I I think the defense right now is just sitting back on their heels they're allowing the offense to kind of dictate things to them and one thing is that any defensive coordinator will tell you in the country you have to be the one trying to dictate things to the offense so change it up try something different if it's not working you can't continue to sit back on your heel second and five ball on the 37 yd line and they get nice yardage on that runes first and 10 tackle made at the [Applause] 49 it's second down and there're about two yards away from the [Applause] sticks gains his way to the 40 yd line did you see how much space there was for that tail back up front he better be thanking his offensive lineman for that [Applause] left he's taken down around the 30 yd line it's second down and they're about the length of the football from the first down marker [Applause] he's at the 20 brought down at about the 15 yd [Applause] line K kill run run run run runs left and quickly taken down makes it and second down and 10 to go ball on the 15 yd line the 10 and down he goes at about the three yd [Applause] Line This is the ninth play of this drive guys dou to little black black touchdown Bulldogs and the point after is no good he got hit hard that call didn't make any sense at all and now they'll give up some huge field position that is just ridiculous I can't think of one reason as to why it would make sense to kick an on side here the offense was pretty successful on that play there that was a very good passing play to get the ball downfield for a very nice gain and a first down we've got a first and 10 ball in the 25 yd line Che and they got to him before he could get back to the line that's three down and one to go the Bulldogs lead it by [Music] [Applause] [Music] 20 Back In This Very pivotal fourth quarter lar Larry Larry two fires up to his receiver touchdown [Applause] tigers and he converts the extra point Clemson get set to kick this one away and he's going to call for a fair catch both teams are well aware that a score on this drive is going to create an almost insurmountable lead this defense has really got to step it up and make a stop he's to the 20 and he's tackled at about the 23 yd [Applause] from their own 23 yd line first down he's to the 40 across Midfield he's tackled at about the 31 [Applause] [Music] they'll bring him down at the 22 it's second down now they're just a few feet away from that first down marker and he's going to come up with a sack that's caught it but they're going to lose yards he would tackle immediately so it's fourth down and the offense is still on the field and he's hit immediately a nice completion to the tight end a good play here and the thing that I noticed is that he provides a nice big Target out there for the quarterback georgees going to take their first time out of the [Applause] half and he makes it out to about the 11 yd line second and seven ball on the 11 yd line just under three to go in regulation takes it up the middle for a nice [Applause] run it's the ninth play of the drive we tackle right around the four yd line the Tigers taking their first time out of the half makes it well they're looking for another fourth down conversion they've already gotten one this drive they can't bring him down and he's in they'll go for two in this situation they don't get it and it looks like they're ready for the kickoff excellent kick he's to the 20 across the 30 and he's tackled at the 48 so they're just about set to get the game going again throws complete he's got space to work to the 20 the 10 he scores what a [Applause] play less than two minutes in the fourth quarter and he TS on the extra point [Music] I think any good football team has to have an ability to answer and that's exactly what we just saw one team scores a touchdown the other team comes right back and puts another touchdown on the board this is getting exciting the offense was able to punch it in the end zone on that last Drive they'll come back out looking for more of the same great passing was the key for the offense the last time they had the ball they were able to pick apart the defense and get down the field for a touchdown you I think the quarterback got so excited to make this throw that I think he just put too much on the football his receiver was open he just misfire gets it he's in space and he tackles him hard at the 44 yd line easy easy that BR up third and four so an empty back field with five wide receivers catches it and he's looking for more and he's taken down at the 47 yd line and they're going to put six DBS on the field to counter that five receiver [Applause] look and he is drilled that's the 47 but the defense is fired up responding and reacting to that sack not only do they get the quarterback but they hit him and hit him hard I think that can really create some confidence for this defense the next time this quarterback drops back to throw you got to be thinking he's going to be a little bit gun shy and concerned about the pressure that these defense is putting on him and they make the stop at the 14 yd line and that completion gives him over 300 yd through the air this young man really works at it and it's always a boost to see that hard work reflected in the Box Score he should be very pleased a little over a minute in the game looks to a receiver [Applause] [Music] touchdown he makes the pat it was a six play 61 yd drive and it's good for seven points Brad how about the guys up front the offensive line giving the quart plenty of time to be able to read the defense make the right throw Clemson is looking to kick the onside here but the return teams in their normal return formation really odd he's tackled at the 43 yd line Brad this is my kind of game I love seeing this kind of production and the way these quarterbacks are playing both teams are challenging both of these defenses gains his way to the 33 yd line right that's a huge first down for the offense at this point the defense's only hope is they've got to try to rip that ball away from the quarterback or the running back to get the football back to their offense because the CL now is a big F tackled after a decent pickup the Tigers using their third and last [Applause] timeout we're down to our final minute of this ball game makes it out to about the 16 Georgia will use their final [Applause] [Applause] timeout the 10 gets out to around the six it's first down and they'll be looking for six points here under a minute left tackle made around the four yd [Music] line a short yardage defense here he's taken down right around the two yd [Applause] line it's third and goal from the one and they're trying to make this a two-possession ball game touchdown Georgia off the upright and in a nice seven play 44 yd drive and they get it in for seven Brad that's one of those drives that can just tear your AP up they can really demoralize a defense when they drive the ball down the field and a lot of the Yards came on the ground he's to the 20 he's knocked out of Bounds at the [Applause] 24 and this one comes comes to an end our final count in this game Georgia 47 Clemson 35 let's get Kirk herb Street's final thoughts on this one Herby what do you got for us you know I think it was a well played game for the most part Clemson had a few missed opportunities in this game and I think if they could have capitalized on a few of them would have been a lot closer and they might even have won
