my name is Sky hulley I'm 18 years old and I'm from North London harate and the intern for em gbr sogp team the first event was Sydney so that was cool my first time going to Australia and just learned like the basics mostly just watched and learned how like the team worked and then uh went to New Zealand the next event and then had a few more roles and then just got more into it and then by Bermuda I was doing like add had my own job list doing my own things and now I'm doing the same jobs as everyone else at em gbr we believe in breaking down socioeconomic barriers to cre opportunities within the Marine industry our internship program is a significant step forward in making this Vision a reality we want to help more individuals gain the skills and experience in sailing to create successful careers one of the standout talents that we recognize through this initiative is Kai hcky who was named cow's week sale of the year for 2023 Kai has an impressive journey ahead starting with a detailed development plan here at emirat gbr so far he has joined our team developing his skills as a short team member his development plan will include moving on to the Athena pathway program Our Youth and women's team for the America's Cup led by Hannah Mills and eventually onto inos Britannia for the Americas Cup this Autumn throughout this journey Kai will continue developing his sailing skills but with more focus on the foiling classes be that the wasp and also taking part in season 5 training in the F50 lgp class we look forward to seeing Kai's Journey unfold as we welcome more interns from the Greg Academy and as we continue in our efforts to make the Marine industry more inclusive and accessible for everyone we wanted to give you the certainty for at least the next 12 months that you've got the support from the organization here so hopefully that gives you the Stepping Stones to go go all the way CU it's certainly shown that you got the talent and the work ethic and the ambition to do it so why not yeah if I get just a whole year I'm just going out and seeing how far I can get I think that'll be good have a great week down in wouth like really good opportunity to Kickstart all your foiling skills having done so well in all your other dingy sailing so take it on have a great week learn lots and get ripping it's been a good week learning way the training C with uh all the younger students yeah it's been good seeing them progress and I have people to race on the water I got some good Barrel is and a good down wind so I'm happy that moment when the B comes out the water it's crazy and when it starts whistling like you just everything go silent you're just in your own world it's a nice feeling to be honest a great experience I don't want to go back to my laser now I think what I'm looking forward to most is the goal of the worlds in 2025 the W worlds I'm really looking forward to just spending a year dedicate and trying to get the best I can and then see where I come out I'm buzzing about that opportun a little bit nervous but I'm just ready to take it and maximize the opportunity but yeah there's a little bit of nerves in there I think it's a great opportunity for the younger students to experience because in school you get T about jobs about lawyers doctors but not many people get exposed to this industry I would have thought maybe in a couple years like 10 years but I didn't think it was going to happen this quick W yeah it's just been great and I can't thank him enough for the opportunity
