[Music] Toby Keith may not have lived in Nashville but he was sure loved by the Music City this was Apparent at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena where his family and friends including the biggest names in country music came together to celebrate the life and works of Toby Keith the the love and respect that he had for the men and women that sered this country it was marrow deep it was it was profound it was genuine it was real and I always respected him so much for that there were more than one tearjerker moments as Toby Keith was remembered as not just a hit maker and songwriter but also a philanthropist Patriot and a great father to his three kids here are the five most heartwarming moments from the Toby Keith tribute starting off with Trace Atkins who has traveled miles doing shows with Keith across the country and was one of his closest friends in the music industry he performed Keith's heartfelt ballad American Soldier and spoke about the Patriot that he was I'm known to for a long time and we toured together several times over the years did a lot of shows together and so um I just I just remember that every show he did he always the last thing he said before he walked off the stage was never apologize for being patriotic jelly R also performed at the tribute show and he dedicated his performance of Keith's my list to the late singer [Music] family he spoke about how Toby inspired him to be a better American human and songwriter and most importantly being a father of two Toby inspired him to be a better father I would like to dedicate this to Trisha Shelly Crystal Stella and Toby's entire family Toby inspired me to be a better American a better human a better songwriter and with songs like this most importantly he inspired me to be a better father Keith's family was in attendance as well including his wife Trisha his son stellin and his daughters Crystal and Shelly Shelley took the stage to offer words of tribute to her father saying my dad knew your worth is a measured by what you have but by what you give before Crystal performed Keith's don't let the old man in which Toby had performed in 2023 at the inaugural People's Choice Country Awards Let the [Music] old the event titled Toby Keith American Icon also served as a charity benefit for Toby's OK kids Coral initiative and the the Monroe Corell Junior Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt okay kids Corral was started by Keith in 2014 and provides a cost-free place for families of pediatric cancer patients to stay while patients are receiving treatment at the Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center his wife and children continue to carry on the good work even after his death Laney Wilson chose Toby's 2002 hit song Beer for My Horses and stole the show with her dramatic entrance on a horseback Gra the entire Arena's attention as she rode to the stage she had one more surprise up her sleeve as country star Jamie Johnson was waiting for her on stage guitar in [Music] hand Keith was known to always help out a friend and give younger Talent a chance before performing Keith's as good as I once was Eric Church spoke about the impact Keith had on his life and career by giving him a chance to play some shows with him when Eric was still trying to find his feet in the music industry about 15 years ago um I was starting my career and I um we were having a hard time getting anybody in country music to let us come play shows with them and toy Keith was the guy that called and said hey why don't you go play shows with me and there is no there is no way I'm standing here today if it wouldn't for Toby Keith so Tyler hubard made a mistake while performing Keith's iconic party song Red Solo Cup he acknowledged the flub asked the band to start over on the verse progression and continued the show with support from the fans or one can say that it was an appropriate gap for a song about drinking right proceed the party proceed the party now oh I really love how you're St oh can we redo that second verse we can't do Toby like this yeah I really love how you're easy all in all the tribute celebrated Keith as a father a singer a patriot and a great human being the event was filmed for a special that will air on NBC on August 28th as per reports there were video messages from George Straight Willie Nelson Reba McIntyre and Blake Sheldon as well played out during the concert I could not find these videos online but if you do happen to come across any such Clips uh then please do add it to the comment section for all us Keith fans and please do hit the like And subscribe buttons for your daily dose of country
