zero one let's get started hello and welcome to Beyond top 10 tennis my name is Dr Ashley Morgan Burge and I am your host I am an author of 12 books a SEO of 13 years an Elite Performance coach of over 19 years having worked with athletes throughout Europe the United States to Australia I am the world's leading scientist on coach and Athlete Performance specifically behind how to develop a top 10 tennis ranking my work includes everything from mitigating injuries two conditioning behaviors that set a player up longterm for the long game towards a top 10 tennis ranking I'm behind theories from the Optimal Performance Theory optimal behavior for Optimal Performance the barrier breaker the rule of transference to the Golden Rule and an additional fun fact is that I'm also the founder of a startup set on data privacy that provides a space for tennis players and others to interact around their game and so much more um as has become custom each episode we dive into the latest rankings and results on the WJ and ATP tours and deliver new data implications as shared in my latest release how to develop a top 10 tennis ranking with over 100 episodes now to to date today's insights plays its own role like so many other episodes in developing the player parented coach for that road ahead towards a top 10 tennis ranking so as always Buckle in and enjoy the right all right so I always say that and start with that so look if you are new thank you so much for joining us uh if you've been with us for some time now thank you so much but you would have also known notice that today's episode also marks let's say the reintroduction of that small snippet um I I did try let's say a good dozen plus maybe roughly our last 20 episodes um I I remov that um just to um see how the flow went and a bit of a change of pace there although um we're going to start including that as well so for our new listeners welcome um you do um you get to know a little bit about myself my background where I'm coming from and why essentially I guess these real world data implications are so profound exciting and who obviously is responsible for um um the backstory obviously the seven keys are there in the background there and then my latest release how to develop a top 10 tennis ranking as well really cool and there are obviously um 11 to that collection with obviously number 12 or not one of them in there was a fictional release so 11 specifically okay and of that I really want to dive into the latest results first before we look at the rankings there's not too many changes but by looking at the WT tour ATP Tour results we can have a look at um key performances uh uh Peak performances if there are any new but also more excitingly US Open um kicks off uh today super exciting and we want to have a look at the drawers and and use this week's wrap essentially to look at those um uh initial uh matches quarters if we have enough time and then later on this week um as has become custom this year we've introduced those special editions so I will do my best to um come to you live um if if not every day every other day or third day depending obviously if there are rain delays Etc I really want to make sure there's enough uh data in a manner of speaking to be able to uh share with you um key performances progressions what the draw is looking are looking like and matches that are unfolding and we already have a number of Blockbuster matches in the first rounds um but I've only looked into some of that so I really want to look into that with you um which is a little bit different normally I I do dig a little bit deeper all right so uh to kick today's episode off we're at 115 Believe It or Not which is really really exciting um look I I think around the French Open it was 88 we kicked off at Wimbledon kicked off at 100 I'm a little bit disappointed that we don't have let's say that round number for the US Open um but that's just how it has unfolded all right so WTA tour um the we've only got two events that have been underway um of the past week so we're going to start with Cleveland um so we did touch on round the 32 which was essentially the first round results last week so we're going to dive into the round of 16 straightway so it is a smaller event number one seed was her dad May ear so we'll kick things off um second round so round of 16 she did play buska um had a really good win there two and one um Kennan was the eighth CD as Burl Burl with an upset there four and three and CIA coova is the third seed against buas maniero and CIA coova um in three sets although that third set was 7672 that's impressive from bz maniero to push shakova all that way in the third all right um Stern sued um had a win um over Sor be tommo three and two Tom over the seventh seed was upset by Russ a US player three and three Russ has been tracking this season obviously um on a lower ranking range than Players let's say more predominantly inside the top 30 but she has been able to um have some of those um surprising results against those seated players so that is um a promising um metric um Kesler um upset weighing the fourth seed in 33 664 62 um popover fifth seed over torsson 2 and two and Bogden remember she upset Fernandez in three sets in the first round so she has um got a win against Min 7663 all right um heading over now to the quarterfinals um and quarters we had Hadad Maya and Burl and so Hadad Maya again number one SE with a win over Burl 2 and two uh s coov over Sterns 166 364 and Kesler with the win over Russ 4 and 2 poov over Bogden 2 and 1 all right I am trying to go a little bit quickly there there is a method to the madness here today okay Hadad mayia semi-finals um over Sova 63 2662 and Kesler over potapova 4663 63 finals um cuz Kastle that wasn't upset over potapova um which we've got Hadad Maya and Kesler in the finals houses Kesler with a huge upset over the number one seed now remember around this time last year or 18 months ago her dad Maya was ranked inside the top 10 she has regressed I think she's still um she is RA uh ranked inside the top 30 um hasn't had those results um typically she was having let's say roughly 12 months ago what's inside the top 20 but now is just she's just been bumped out look Kesler 1661 75 I think that second set is absolutely huge uh but the third set I think it looks like both of them were on their let's say um we we've talked about those cyclical performances and they can happen or do um very often happen in play so during matches um so that third set tells the story how close it was um well done to Kesler to pull that through I believe that is her maiden title on tour but I'm sharing this cuz I'm very interested now to see who k plays first round um in the US Open all right um moving on to I think yes we have montree so in Mexico um again we did round of 32 last week so let's kick off with the round of 16 Collins with the number one seat and she was upset by Mira's um Andria's sister Erica Andria who has been just inside the top 100 this win um pushes her even more inside the top 100 and we'll look at that in the rankings later but look at this over Collins 1663 63 uh we know Collin um was feeling um a little bit unwell um had that Health concern during the Olympics we haven't seen too many concerns since she's been back in play but I think what's noteworthy of this result is that Collins really was tracking this season hoping for a really uh good run at the US Open with this early exit this is suggesting that Collins may not have the run that potentially was uh anticipated that 2 to 3 weeks ago which is a little bit um disappointing of course um and again cins could by all means make a run but when we're looking at the data and this type of upset in the second round or round of 16 in this um case um probably Collins is tracking for that third round maybe round a 16 uh but I'm not confident that Collins will push through to the quarters but again we will keep a close eye on how those matches unfold from first round second round and so on because when're looking at those key patterns of play and those key progressions and a player's metrics in action that can tell us essentially live on the spot if that player is going to progress or not when we're leveraging those Predictive Analytics so the results that we're seeing um all uh season long and the smaller events in between the grand slams sure we see those patterns of play we can we can share and I can share with you why are players progressing in the rankings what's not if their game has all of the Eight Keys if it does not obviously top 10 may be seven keys yes um if they more susceptible to regressing outside the top 10 the same markers for a player who makes the round a 16 or not um all right I want to touch on more of that later but let's wrap up okay so round of 16 results we've talked about um Collins on D um with that win there um Lulu Sun remember her huge run at The Wimbledon championships good winner here over Carl in three 6326 7672 um alexandrova is the third seat over zarua 3 and four Yuan the seventh seed over martic 4 and one and theis the sixth seed over Wang 4 and 76 and that was wow 1311 that's absolutely huge um SPID good win over avanessian for and three fretch over glushko and 3 67 6361 and navari with a good win over aoro in three 3675 7672 all right uh quarterfinal so it's very interesting here I think that we do have um Navaro in action and obviously the second seed we're going to get to that shortly all right um SAA and onrea in the quarterfinals soon with a very good win as far as rankings are concerned that is expected is inside the top 50 um whereas on D I think prior to um this event was uh ranged between 190 all right four and three to Sun there quarters the other side of the quars Alexandro over Yuan so third seed seven seed respectively five and six noova with the win over Selina four and four what's noteworthy here is fidelina is the fifth seed noova is the sixth seed as far as rankings are concerned though um they both ranked just out outside the top 30 um prior to Wimbledon they were both ranked um inside the top 30 Spina was ranked inside the top 20 but because fidelina didn't defend all of those points at Wimbledon despite a huge performance she didn't she got to the quarters I believe not the semifinals as last year so she did drop off in the rankings her performance is definitely top 20 quality noova however kicked off her year round of 16 I think maybe she made the quarterfinals round of 16 quarterfinals Australian Open huge break through cracked inside the top 30 only recently regressed outside the top 30 has had a a pretty good I would say performance Plateau being able to maintain that level of play but now we're seeing that track forward again so OV is more likely uh they're not to crack back inside the top 30 okay other side of the quarters um Navaro over fretch so second seed and Ninth seed respectively 76 six love 62 that are great first set from fret but then nvar obviously ran away with that um semifinals tells a little bit of a different story so how is this um son huge went over alexandrova the third seed three sets 7536 7686 I think this is the best way seeing Sun play since Wimbledon and we haven't really seen Sun play at this level on hard cour she really came onto the radar in a manner of speaking grass Wimbledon and now we're definitely keeping it ey on her courtesy of that past that that round a 16 result uh very very noteworthy all right other side of semi finals nosova Nar nvar obviously is favored here but what I've just shared U over or about nosova look at this 7675 first set tie break was 97 that's huge um look that performs from Navaro is still really good I'm really happy with that semifinals and essentially almost two tie breaks noova very good win um nonetheless and so she's definitely one to watch maybe she will also make potentially the round of 16 at the US Open cuz again we're not seeing um this level of play from noova since the Australian Open very very noteworthy um so I'm not going to be surprised if in scob but does surprisingly make the round of 16 it's not going to surprise us um the data would support that Navaro however despite falling um she has been predicted um this season to become a barrier breaker so remember that the ruler of 2% very very noteworthy um Navaro is on track potentially there's a very I want to underscore potentially at this stage to make that quarterfinal appearance uh and who knows what will happen from there I won't share too much but Navaro definitely is on track that for that round of 16 potentially quarterfinals to go a little bit further a post you open it's not going to be surprising if Navaro um overtakes Collins for example and Austin Peno and makes her way inside the top 10 um but we're probably going to have a um consider we're probably going to see some place regress outside we will get to that shortly so um finals um I did insinuate this so noova very good win over Sun here 7664 that first set tibre was 86 and this was incredibly tight so look Sun's essentially keeping Pace with the top 30 player her ranking is going to reap the rewards from that and so is noa's ranking Lulu son I'm not going to be surprised again if she makes a breakthrough uh around a 16 um at the US Open I think that's going to be very significant absolutely huge especially from that um semi-final result I believe it was um at Wimbledon this is a very good result it depends um if Suns had enough rest time um I would say maybe not and because when we're looking at periodization tracking those Peak performances Sun may have peaked now a little bit too soon prior to the US Open um similar to noova but maybe she's had a little bit more rest up her sleeve uh so s may be third round and may unexpectedly drop off but she definitely has the capacity I think for the hardcourts US Open around at 16 as well so that's two players already outside the top 10 outside the top 20 potentially round a 16 result I think that's very very noteworthy and if I track back to obviously uh the winner of Cleveland in Kesler um only because she hasn't been tracking a similar state to the likes of noova and sun we have to essentially say that maybe could have Tesla could have that first second round upset but not as far as those other two players okay um let's head on over to the rankings now before we head over to the ATP Tour all right really quickly here we've got um inside that we're starting from 100 down to one or 99 the 12-point progression is Maria marik's had a seveno uh progression so she's back inside the top uh 100 at 98 um bogdon with her performance this week she's up 12 points to 91 in the world um other I will say a noteworthy we've got Osaka a slight hit she's back 3288 aoro up 6 to 82 Yan Wang's Back 2 to 80 uh we've got Erica Andrea here we go she's at 14 places so a 14 point progression to 75 now in the world that is a career ranking High look I think it's only a matter of a season potentially until she catches up to her younger sister ricano is just slightly back once so she's at 72 in the world W Yak is just back one at 71 in the world I think it's going to be quite interesting to see how both of those players go um at the US Open okay a 35 Point progression for Kesler um courtesy of that Maiden title win she's now at 63 in the world tomova is back eight to 58 just really looking at I think the key or bigger jumps um the past week Lulu soon a very big jump so of 16o progression she's now at 41 in the world not good enough to be seated um at the US uh but but who knows what happens potentially after the US she could be looking at a seat at the Australian Open and look so much can happen in the space of 12 months and look this time uh last year at the beginning of the season um we could say palini was around this ranking range and look at her now inside the top 100 it doesn't happen for everyone but there is that 2% ruler so inside the top 10 if the top 10 is that 10% so when we're looking at the top 100 play You' got 2% of players that have that likelihood of potentially making making those breakthroughs um this season has been a very big anomaly where we're seeing more players and I'm really looking forward to I think um sharing those insights over the next I think 12 to 18 months more uh deeply but in the let's say the next couple of months will be released um fingers crossed a different release to complement uh what we've been discussing now okay poter is at 5 38 in the work most players are relatively steady but here we go inside the top 30 spidel is back inside the top 30 she was there remember from last week BOS is inside the top 30 again uh but here we go um 25 in the world noova so the 10-point progression back inside the top 30 um noteworthy nocover I think was around 26 in the world uh prior to Wimbledon I think there about so this isn't shocking but it's very good to see her there noteworthy also she's only 19 years of age and I do believe from last time I did check she has the same coach that kavida used to have I believe and that's actually quite significant if noova keeps tracking and that coach athlete relationship uh is maintained matures and I say prospers in a really good way very very important there okay aage is just up one there 24 Andre's back um just to 23 had dad May is up 2 to 21 all right top 20 has relatively stayed all the same um not worthy players I think we've got schneer she'll be a first time seed at the US Open we know she's back inside of the top 20 but look um kostuk is inside the top 30 um kostuk is 19 in the world so noova cost um Ken SK is 15 and uh p that's four There is five now I'm sharing this all of those players we had not really been paying that much attention to them uh up until the Australian Open and what's really really interesting is since then round of 16 results and so that's a 50% well not quite 25% of those round of 16 players have solid their places inside the top 30 your strength skill was another one to round up that um five but none of those players were seated and I would argue that you have a very big 25% and then if we really I think break it down at least 10% of those round of 16 players absolute breakthroughs very very exciting about what that round of 16 can achieve for that let's say unseated player um um that's another I'm just I'm sharing those insights without I think the the calculation so that's just um me having that verbal conversation with you around that because I know when I do let's say crunch the numbers around those round of 16 there it's incredibly profound that statistics and that's why if you make a round of 16 of a grand slam I will start tracking you if you do not you're not automatically on that radar if you start tracking at other events and your ranking starts tracking yes but all you need to do even if it's just once make that round of 16 and I will pay more attention um one example for exam is just shmar um now your shka was inside the top 30 but she's just backed outside now what's really interesting is that she hasn't been able to maintain that level of play yes she's at 34 in the world but it'll be very interesting um if she maintains that level of play at the US Open I think youra will make potentially the third round maybe not uh the round of 16 if she does though it's not going to be that surprising but it definitely will push her back inside the top 30 um just as an example okay the only um changes inside uh the top 20 are kazak K is just back one and Navar is up one to 12 now in the world um yes it's about 400 points separating Navaro from Collins so maybe not if if obviously if Collins Falls early and Navaro progresses um quite deeply there could be a switch there uh as far as rankings are concerned all top 10 have remained last week was when sabinka took number two back from golf uh which I think makes the draw a little bit more Kinder where swch wouldn't play sabalan until the finals at the Uso all right that's WTA tour tick and done right on the ATP Tour they only had one event the past and that is Winston Salem um all right we did do the round of 64 last week so we'll kick off with the round of 32 Bez was the number one seed so it is um I think retrospectively a smaller event we don't have say top 10 players um in this event um coric has upset the number one seed bz in that second round so round of 32 3 and four um H Jaa rinky um has um upset kazook 46 6376 I do say upset because kazuk has been tracking but so is Rinky um and he is the 16th seed so he has been making some really good inroads of late especially this season um reck over oconnell 3 and four goffen over derei 2 and four very good win for H Goffin there cuz dieri was the fifth seed Shada over sondo four and four that's an upset there um kotov over Moher 64 5762 SRO over strickler 4 and one Shang over bone 5 and three that is an upset say both wild over bulus the eight seed 6 and two another upset Tian is a qualifier over mariz and the ninth seed in 362 6776 another upset karino um Boer over shenco 2 and2 another upset W okay vage over manarino in 3762 661 another upset um when we're looking at rankings and seedings Bergs over at Chev another upset 46 7564 um mitson is the 11 seat over fich 6 and4 um Eubanks over Gaston 1 and4 another upset and sfin over morte 1 and five we've had more upsets there um than typically would be anticipated all right round of um 16 um hia so rinky has got a good win over coric there in three 36 6375 Goffin over reinder neck another good win for Goffin remember goffin's former top 10 has uh regressed outside the top 100 has been playing a lot of these smaller events but it's really good to see his level back up there all right so over renck there the 12 seed three and three to goffen um COV over shivada um in three sets 36 6364 Sano got a walk over there over Shang in the round of 16 Tien the qualifier has got a good win over say both wild four and three Kino Buster over vich in three uh 6 3 4663 miton over Bergs 1 and two and Eubanks over swand 6316 76 all right our quarterfinals uh here we come we've got rinky been upset by Goffin there 1 and three well done to goffen we should see a really good uh progression for Goffin in the rankings senro over kotov three and five SRO noteworthy is the 10th seed and Kino Buster over Tien 4 and2 and mitchson the 11th seat over Eubank 75 6776 that is huge well done to Eubanks I'm not going to be surprised if you makes a deep run at the US Open I'm going to say third round not quite round of 16 there's a very big maybe but there's a very big field I think of uh players on the men's side who have been performing quite well so you bangs I would say second third round okay uh semifinals we do have have um SRO with a win over goffen 3 and two as anticipated and mitchson with a win over Kino buer 76 uh 21 again as anticipated unfortunately looks like Karo buer did have to retire so finals we've got the 10th seed and 11th seed respectively I think what's surprising here is the score line six love 63 so huge win for SRO he is a top 40 player or I think top top 50 top 40 player um so that's that's actually huge so mitson are there about similar ranking range I believe um so very good win for SRO um you need to think then with the US Open SRO could maintain that level of play and maybe make the third round as well potentially a Deep Run maybe very big maybe round of 16 but at this stage similar to Eubanks I would say third round okay let's have a look at the rankings there starting at 100 okay coric is back 11 places so he's at 98 kazuk is up six point progression so 91 now in the world we've got a number of regressions but only um small here we go goffen very big progression um up 12 places to 78 now in the world um looking for those big jumps again or the U regressions here we go senro so he is a 10o progression to 48 so he was ranked into inside the top 60 my apologies so he's now ranked inside the top 50 and mitchellson noteworthy he's had a three-point progression so he's actually just behind SRO um he's 49 in the world um not you there all right most other players um have stayed the same because also there's only been one event so there's only been some slight changes let Checkers back 6 to 38 in the world all right when we're looking at the top 30 now kakenov is up 1 22 toab billo's at 1 to 21 um other than that the top 20 has not changed um everything else is the same top 10 is the same nice and easy nice and simple but that really I think um underscores are we haven't had that many players in action noteworthy is baz is back too so he's um to 23 in the world and he was the number one seed um the past week at Winston Salem so very noteworthy there okay WJ tour done uh 0p tour done I'm really happy that we've tied all of that off just do I think preface the seeds and how we're looking at certain players how they could be tracking what I am about to share though when we're looking at let's say uh the US Open and the first round encounters let's keep in mind the last couple of weeks as well and how players have been tracking but also the past week will feed into that okay round one uh for the women's side we'll start with the WTA tour before we then look at the ATP Tour s attack Rim over you would expect s Tech to progress there quite easily um Seville is in there you would expect as well curto is favored over bandal um Pavo chener has Preston who is an Aussie she's one through I believe the qualifying has been given a wild card absolutely huge for Australian tennis very exciting but you need to give paen The Edge um Andria and Osorio you need to obviously favor Andria there I believe this is not her first time yeah she's been seated um obviously after the French in that huge run um and then obviously Wimbledon follow you need to favor Andrea there to progress all the way through potentially to third round round round number 16 maybe I'm going to give Andrea third round but I'm very interested to see how I think players do uh match up so we will get back to that later um Zang Krueger um potentially Krueger there Bova and Samson NOA is um Inu Tech I will say quarter noteworthy samova has got the win over Su Tech this season um different surface though I do believe and how this Collins is also in Su Tech's half um she has dohy first round I think that's actually going to be quite uh tricky for Collins she's going to have to be on her game otherwise Doh High could very well upset Collins um arani bua Schmid over now remember Schmid over played um s Tech at the Olympics for the uh bronze medal granted this is hardcourt not clay it'll be very interesting how she goes against torsson um poosa over schneer you need to favor schneer schneer is in sh Tech's half it looks like so you go you're going to have to favor H well no schneer to potentially track to the r of 16 will be her very first I think progression at that stage um but definitely with how Shady's been tracking this season I'm not going to be surprised if she makes the round of 16 at the US Open uh Bola will play um s sovich would be great to see Katie get a few wins under her belt here all right and another big match here is rakum and Kenan uh look they both got a grand slam a piece uh but you need to favor ranu look we haven't seen ranu in action that much she opted not to play the Olympics um it's going to be very interesting to see how she plays we haven't seen significant deep runs from her um but her metric have been very very good um I'm not going to be surprised again if Rican makes around 16 at the US Open and we we'll be able to tell from there how far she will track or if she will progress there on in okay um paga has Rogers first um Ro Shelby Rogers is retiring I believe um after the US Open um she's had a pretty pretty I think uh good career I won't say exceptional cuz she never cracked inside the top 20 for example but she's also had some top 10 I believe um upsets so pula's definitely favored there um riina will play AA another Aussie um but I also believe she's broken through qualifying so that's the second qualifying place for an Aussie very very significant um Zen Pon um not too sure there probably going to favor s Zen wasaki over Hino first round let's see how's wasaki does she used to play well on hard um so that might be quite interesting to see okay I'm skipping over a couple here cuz I want to look Ken SK the 15th seed um we'll have Davis I think this is one of the standout matches which is osta Peno and um Osaka I think that's going to be very very interesting um on one side I'm favoring OST Peno the other side hardc I need to favor Asaka um I'm going to say Asaka could be quite dangerous it'll be again it's going to be really interesting if I think um Asaka can get through those earlier rounds it's going to I think um really I think um she's going to be a dark horse for a number of players makova she's not seated could be a little bit dangerous there but if makova gets through her first round she will play the winner of Osaka and aeno and that will probably be the big one of the biggest second round encounters uh we've got Fernandez Popova um potina is the 30th seed over noova so even though noova has just just broken back inside the top 30 and she's 25 in the world potina is the 13th seed so she was seeded the seedings were done prior to uh this week's rankings um Coming aresh uh which means noova definitely is favored um as far as rankings are concerned and her um recent performances uh rod and overa looks like she's had a breakthrough as well in qualifying very very interesting another Australian there right PL and Sheriff uh look P we know she's former Grand Slam uh finalist uh Sheriff has been tracking this season so that's actually going to be quite interesting um now this next one is is very huge Pini and andru you need to give Pini the edge here however palini has had an absolutely huge season and Andreu has won the US Open a number of years ago now um that I think is a very big n match yeah I'm looking forward to that outcome um if I think Pini can get through that one um I'd love to favor her for a deep run at the US Open I mean who wouldn't absolutely especially being a finalist at the French and Wimbledon if she can make the finals of the US Open um she will probably be next to S Tech the most successful player this season that is absolutely significant um crova will have basosi Mera first round um I'm going to look at ketova having a bit of an upset on the hard courts um as in kova I'm looking at probably not progressing as deep as her ranking would potentially suggest Bosa is seeded so 26 seed she'll have Gul first round as a ranker um she's 20 seed over St bua first round Stevens we know she's won the US Open previously she's up against Burl Sakari Wang look Sakari hasn't historically had really deep runs at Grand Slams let's see what she can do this year um historically because of I think those stats potentially there's going to be an upset but it would be great to see Sakari have those deep runs that's why I think um again as sari's ranking does not always cor well her performance does not correlate with that top 10 ranking uh in between events sure she does track but Grand Slam that is that uh regressive play or regressive patterns of play uh but maybe this year is sari's year to make that round a 16 quarter final breakthrough Navaro blink over first round Navaro is definitely I did share earlier po a potential quarterfinalist um coost stru will have kesla there we go so kesla won her first title last week um I'm definitely going to favor Kook here nonetheless if it was another player I would favor Kesler with that title win but kuk has been playing some really good tennis that said there could be an upset but I'm still going to favor kostuk Selina and Carl hopefully I'm hoping Selina can have a deep run to push her ranking back inside the top 20 G has gr first round probably a nice I think um first round encounter to to get I think back on her surface and I I mean that by saying that we know she's the defending Champion but her level of play of late is not let's say um suggesting she will defend her title but I don't think you can ever ride off a defending Champion all right I'm really looking forward to this one Zen we know she's the gold medalist seventh seed Anna Sova Anna Sova is tracking Anis Sova is on fire we know what Anna Sova is capable of she should be ranked inside the top 20 she's ranked inside the top 50 but she should be ranked inside the top 20 we just need to see that consistency of play um that Baseline um essentially becoming more cyclical potentially there's an upset Brewing that's it Zang did make the finals of the Australian Open hardcore did make the quarterfinals of the US Open last year hardcore so you do need to favor Zing from that perspective and also because she has been able to track uh let's say around the Olympics or around that period she's been playing some really good tennis the best tennis she's been playing all year or since that uh Australian Open finalist result um ANM over though I think could be dangerous if Zen comes through that very cleanly you need a favor Zen to make the semifinals um if it's tight let's see how she goes um potentially but Anna Sova could definitely make the round of 16 as well um that's how um I that level of play that Anova has that's what she's capable of okay um Erica Andria has you wan um the Sha 32nd seed over Nina veic will have Burl so um Burl is also I believe a first time qualifier for the US Open very very significant um fun fact fact um I am based on the Gold Coast and uh Burl is also so her family is based on the Gold Coast there and Once Upon a Time uh when I still was playing but I did begin um coaching uh in those very early days I was still a teenager back then I actually was uh responsible for coaching Bure so Kimberly um in her Junior years with many other players so that's a little bit of a fun fact there so hopefully um Kimberly has a really good I think standout performance that said she is playing veic and we know how well beckage played um at the Olympics at Wimbledon that said this is hardcard so maybe veage has been playing too much or a lot of tennis hasn't had enough rest but it'll be very interesting to see I think how veic um plays it's it's similar to swch but we know what swch is capable of but V says it had a very I think heavy uh over the last two months uh schedule um but you again you need a a favor vage there H fretch Min um Sterns tho kazakina Christian Keys will have Senor cooba um joined another qualifier over sment Tom Lovich great to see her back remember Tom Lovich is another Aussie and she's the one who upset Serena in her last performance at the US Open she will play lead first round um that really wraps up I think most I think of that top half and then at the bottom look at this um sun will play bronzetti first round you need to favor Sun especially after a performance last week and then just below at the very very bottom of first round is sabalenka and she will play another Aussie that's actually very significant U Priscilla horn has qualified it looks like as well I can't remember the last time we've had that many um women qualify so well done to each and every one of them but Sabal Lena um she's uh projected to get that win will play Lulu Sun potentially in the second round and I think that will be a very very big test um for Sabal Lanka I think that will be another one of two Blockbuster second round matches to keep an eye on all right that really wraps up I think those first round encounters um for the women's side but what I really wanted to have a look at before we look at the men's side um so I'm looking at a different drawer now or a d different layout my apologies so when we're looking at the projected uh quarterfinals potentially Su Tech will play uh Pula however um Su Tech is on track to play I will say in the third round um pav jenova uh round of 16 however Sam sonova she is on track for so Sam sonova is that player who has a win over um SW Tech this season fortunately I will say for SW Tech or one way cuz SW Tech did get that good win um at the Olympics over Collins uh Collins is in the other quarter so Collins then is on track to potentially play here we go schneer in the third round that will be a huge match if that does happen and let's say if we're going off seeds Collins then is looking like she will play paga um in the round of 16 so quarterfinal match up would be Pula and swch that would be very very significant we do have a number of players in there all right so if we drop down um Bolter then she's got a very good drawer at looks like actually no she's still in my apologies um pula's half so riina then is um in the other part of that quarter so the next quarter so riina is looking at playing potentially Pini uh in the other quarterfinals again for that quarter um we're looking at then um Rian to potentially play uh Garcia in the third round around but I think the biggest ones we're looking at is we do have Ken SK in there um and then put in I think um both of these players have relatively I will say easier rounds uh obviously in no way shape or form but this has to be has to be one of I will say the easier quarters and I mean that um respectfully for all the players involved uh but that has a that's a very big open Draw for riina to progress to at the quarterfinals and similar for palale uh that said palini has a huge first round encounter very very noteworthy however which is a little bit disappointing is that um Austin Peno andaro they are in the little uh well quarter is of palini so all going well that will be potentially around a 16 encounter Pini will play the winner of if uh well Austin pink or aara irr respected which one tracks um and that second round encounter with mova there as well so arguably that's very very difficult I will say little quarter there for uh Pini uh riik keen's half is a lot more open however Ken ska could cause um a little bit um few more problems I will say um in looks like they're on track for again the round of 16 round very impressive round of 16s then in that um quarter all right we'll drop to the other half of the drawer H kova is at the very top looks like she's got a nice drawer however she potentially will run into Bosa in the third round and despite bosa's ranking or where she was ranked even 12 months ago at the beginning of this season um you need a favor potentially Bosa over crova in that third round that's significant there as a ranker then is there and Sakari they're on track to meet third round so Sakari then is on track to meet crova in the round of 16 or Bosa um and Sakari um really could open up there for Sakari to make the quarterfinals and she will potentially play in the quarterfinals I will say Navaro um because we've got Navaro here and looking at I mean you all know how these draws um do um appear at times so look GF is actually in this quarter so I think this is going to this draw will favor Coco however you do have Spina in Coco I will say small quarter so Koko is on track to play Spina in the third round however when we're looking at the fourth round Coco will play Navaro if obviously going off seatings um Navaro will play kuk third round however I think Navaro could be very very dangerous for Coco and it really would open up what I was saying earlier for Navara to make the quarterfinals yes she will have to overcome uh Coco uh to get there but I actually think Navaro her level of play at this stage is tracking ahead of GS um we I think time will tell how their metrics are when the US Open begins um okay so the bottom quarter then we do have zing in Sabal Lena's uh quarter that's a very very interesting and noteworthy I think all right so if Zen does get past anisimova so going off seatings she is on track to play your strema in the third round you need a favor Zen but um veic if she does get through you've got kazakina there and this has to be probably similar to rik's quarter one of the easiest going off seatings and current players level of plays um easier quarters for riina and Zen so you need to favor them then to progress to the quarterfinals courtesy of their respective drawers um dropping down then you do have keys she's in the same little quarter as sabka um Keys then is on track to play uh Burton or Mertens my my apologies Burton in retire um in the third round and potentially Keys has a very good run through to the round of 16 and she will pot potentially play sabalenka but you need U sabalan needs to get P Sun uh third round needs to get pass alexand Rover uh but it looks like saa's first real challenge after potentially Sun uh will be keys and I think that would be a very very significant match there uh but quarterfinals when we're looking at we're looking at Sabal Lanka potentially playing up against Zen for one quarter and I did share earlier we we've got maybe go ranking we're going off rankings against ketova in the other quarter the likelihood of that I'm going to say is quite low given the other players um however um saalan if she does get past Keys it's probably higher then um for that other quarter to play out palini potentially then will play um I did share earlier uh riina that will be very very big one and then obviously Su Tech is on track to pay play paga and given how paga has been playing on the hard um that's going to be very interesting however prior to this paga has not been tracking All Season similar to Zen but Zen did make the finals of the US paga has not had those huge orth those significant Grand Slam level results semifinals finals um this could be her year but I think um when and or if swch gets all these wins under her belt to get to the quarterfinals to semifinal you need to favor her there at that level but I think irrespective when you're looking at semi-final stage um it's very hard not to um give a 50/50 odds however it really does depend on a player's metrics which we will we have been talking about all right over to the men's side of the draw we know sin's number one and joic has the second um seed here and we also know that c will potentially match up against Al in the semifinals I believe that's how but I'll double check um shortly all right C has mcdonal as McDonald first round you need a favorite um cner there I believe CA did get to the semi-finals quarterfinals semi-finals last year and did lose to elrees I believe from memory uh but you need to give um s a little bit of an extra nudge um with I think essentially he has fallen to alarz in the French and I think it was um maybe at Wimbledon as well so he has got a little bit unlucky um maybe this is the Grand Slam he will obviously Peak again granted he did win the u u the Australian Open and similar surface all right warink um also is in sin's quarter here he will play beluchi oconnell and Jerry Phils team um SS Phils is going to be a dark horse we know what he was capable of at Wimbledon potentially round a 16 birth here we come for Phils um pcel vage two Aussies playing off um in the first round Paul and SRO see I think is going to be the biggest danger for C in um I think uh this section of the draw tisas and kakas first round if that does not go to Five sets I might be surprised let's see um we know kakas um and his five Setters but tisas I'm not too sure with his current level of play M maybe tenasi could make a breakthrough there um okay agore Aliss will have a menic first round Duckworth and caboy uh then we've got oh wow me Dev is the fifth seed against Lovich um elra will have two first round shapovalov will have band his and Sh shapo former top 10 player we know that we know he's able to make deep runs um he does not have that ranking behind him but I'm really rooting for shovo to make that round of 16 uh uh result at the US Open it'll really push his ranking up but I think irrespective who he comes up against he's definitely going to be a little bit of a danger that said he um is on track them second round to play elarz um maybe an upset I think shapov is gonna have to play the best tennis of his life and elz will have to be on a little bit of a lull or a very big lull to for that to happen at this stage um Zang and Draper tobillo goffen coric manarino forini and maak cter I'm looking for cter to have a decent run at the US Open maybe it to make that m in around a 16 result here deor and that's actually a tough first round for deor especially since Alex has had um I guess that time off since Wimbledon uh but really rooting for I think if Alex plays some good tennis you need to put him on track for the quarterfinals once again uh we know what he was capable of quarterfinals and our Predictive Analytics said yes same with Wimbledon tick tick can our Predictive Analytics go three in a row I'm not sure purely based on um Alex having that time off I don't know if Alex had enough matches um under his belt no leadup events obviously um so potentially round the 16 and he may fall at that stage but really rooting for I think that quarterfinal result um Evans will have kakenov first round 23rd seed potentially an upset Brewing there Thompson and lean um Thompson's definitely favored herx and Scat rud and bu Mon and schwarzman B Shang hbert monteo um other I think noteworthy encounters we got fritz or go Carabella you need to favor Fritz for a deep run at the US Open potentially Fritz and the quarter finals just maybe I would definitely say the round of 16 if he plays his game but Fritz um I would say he's at that level to make uh the quarterfinals but I want to dive deeper into those pairings and those quarters shortly um Nisha um kovich opela and mosetti um opela could really potentially have an upset there first round over mati we know what AEL is capable of that said if mazetti plays I think the same level um he has been playing on hard he definitely could have a deep run here um a Chev over mesh pericard potentially mesh pericard with the upset over Chev um other I think noteworthy we've got zarev over martier first round rublev um sa both wild Eubanks and ridle neck I'm going to favor Eubanks there um b d um rinky will have David forina first round dimitrov G um Shelton and them that is a very very big first round you need to unfortunately favor Shelton we know this is them's last grand slam we know theme has won the US Open previously but theme hasn't been tracking this season and Shelton is ahead um in that respect so you need to favor Shelton unfortunately there would love for theme to have a Deep Run um fingers crossed but again as far as the data is concerned it's shelter um sheno and kofer um TFO has kovich um T let's see you can make a Deep Run um potentially we know the US Open is is his time of year um maybe TFO potentially could make a deep run around a 16 that said I'm probably not going to favor TFO past the round of 16 let alone third round round of 16 but let's see who we pay up against and if he can cause some damage we know out of a select number of players at this time of year uh TFO is one of those players that can come up with those surprises um poin and Quan poin is another player is on a high and he caused an upset and this is the first time that Alexi is seated at a grand slam that's huge for Australian tennis very very exciting that we have uh two men seated um at a grand slam we have not had that for a number of Seasons um okay um bottom of the drawer is jovic and elbot um but that draw is really wide open for uh yeah Novak to make a smooth run all right let's head on over to have a closer look at those pairings as far as the seatings are concerned all right yanx um C is on par to meet Jerry third round fourth round we are looking at uh Paul so uh round of 16 Tommy Paul I think could be the first big or biger problem that said Paul will have um Phil's third round which I think could be um a bit of a challenge there with how um I think Phils um has been playing um on track C potentially will meet medev in the quarterfinals that will be very very uh noteworthy cuz we know um I believe uh me Dev was the finalist no was semi-finalist last year or F finalist semi-finalist one and all all the other so that's very very noteworthy um to be mindful of that memph Dev I think is going to be a dark horse irrespective of his seating um he is five I think all the attentions going to be on C eles and jovic me Dev is going to make his way through the drawer I think quite cleanly similar to zarev and all all of a sudden we may very well see them in the semi-finals and we shouldn't be shocked because of their ranking but they will still fly under the radar because I think the other three will are Garner most of the attention Okay um other quarter um of um sin's draw is Tisa pass so tsipas is in there and he is on track to play um or go elsimate in the third round and potentially let's going on seedings alone tisas will play Mev then in the round of 16 um that's quite an interesting I think um draw there for those players um look at this um Cabo um is seated 31 so he's on track um to meet um meev um in the third round but I think meev has a relatively I'll say smooth ride through to the round of 16 um at the least all right then we've got elarz in siners um half which is oh but um good I think as far as semi-finals are concerned but I'd love to see those two finally meet in the finals to play one another maybe next season okay so as far as El is concerned shapovalov maybe second round smooth running until we've got Draper potentially in the third round um quarter then is on track to meet elarz because quarter um is ranked 16 he's on track to meet alteras in the round of 16 and then when we're looking at the quarterfinals we're going to give her CS I think alarz actually has the easier half of the draw um in rather than or in contrast to cner um in this case so Al I think is very smooth sailing C has um I think a few more difficulties in this respect as far as the draw um is concerned noteworthy however is Alex deor is in this um quarter where alarz is and this is actually quite interesting um Alex is on track then to meet hers in the round of 16 the winner of that will get through to potentially play them uh the winner of elz and quarter if I would say if Alex deor plays elz in the quarterfinals that will be very interesting you need to give Alex a chance I won't say the edge but you need to give him a chance okay bottom half of the draw Rood is at the top there so he snagged a very good spot and he the other the bottom of that quarter is the Rev that is a tricky however this quarter actually no it's going to be I think one of the more challenging um quarters because we've got rud to play buic potentially third round and Fritz is in this quarter and Fritz then is on track to play rud in the round of 16 and you need a favor I would say Fritz there we know rud doesn't historically play well I don't think on hard court um I could be incorrect there we know better on obviously uh clay um that said it'll be very interesting this could be Fritz's year to break through um make it all the way to the quarter finals but in this uh court is also Rune now normally I wouldn't give rune this uh weight however he has started to make some inroads with that recent coaching change um so run thenan is on track to play uh mazetti in the third round wow and I think that will be one of the biggest third round matches there that pairing um no worthy then the winner of that match we've got a Sur lundo will play zarev in the third round and Zed will play the winner of um mazetti and run in the round of 16 I think that is a very powerful um lineup there for those matches and obviously the winner there will um come through to potentially play um rud bu that's that would be one to keep an eye on and also I think noteworthy is uh rud potentially will have to play uh mon in the second round but mon has schwarzman two former top 10 players in action okay um rublev has got the other or the bottom half and so he is in jovic's quarter um I will say look at this I think it's a relatively smooth sailing um rubb will play Lea the 32nd seed uh potentially in the third round and then dimitrov may be in the uh round of 16 but I think think joic has a little bit more of a tribute similar to last year look Shelton we know he's got theme first round but Tio is in this um section so potentially Shelton will have Tio third round there you go that's going to be huge uh if TFO upset Shelton Bam um here we go round of 16 potentially will play jovic um Shelton gets through will potentially play uh jovic then round of 16 and you kind of have to give whether it's um Shelton Tio a bit of an edge there but look at this poin is on track to play jovic in the third round and given pin's at recent level of play you need to give poin a little bit of an edge against jovic or maybe a foret there and by the time poin maybe get wears jovic out a little bit there could be um a little bit of an upset um from Shelton or TFO depending on who wins there I think um despite um seatings um that could be really interesting okay that really wraps up I think the first round we're going to keep a close eye on um what players are tracking and the draw this says I have a lot of fun with this pulling the players out with their stats with their metrics who's looking at progressing who's not looking at progressing um but when we're looking I think at the schedule of play um I think most of those matches we've got jovic in in action Shelton Thea in action G's in action on day one Stevens in action day one Zang Anders MOA um Fritz is in action Kei Sova tfo's in action sapena in action so I believe we do have both of the bottom half of the draws in action uh Z Azara Bosa M and Schwartzman will playoff sari's in action Rune against Nakashima um we did Miss that one that's going to be interesting Nakashima has been tracking this season however I'm still going to favor run there um really interesting um really I think exciting um lineup for I think day one of the US Open championships PES per car Russ and bden B we've got STS we've got Eubanks we' got son verse bronzetti veage Burl k kesla u a lot a lot of tennis going on as I think we would expect but some really I think interesting matches even at you know round one as we look forward um I think they are the primary matches on day one that I have shared um to uh now all right I think it really wraps up today's episode so thank you so much for tuning in um we've wrapped up all of I think the past week on the w and ATP TS with the recent rankings and the US Open I
