Trending searches: heavy thunderstorm warning
e all right we are live here with a severe thunderstorm warning for Jones County that goes until 7 o'clock we were talking about this on the six o'clock show just a little while ago this is all rolling a little bit backwards from what we're used to seeing so this is going from east to west so a lot of us are used to kind of looking off to the west and seeing thunderstorms kind of a dark sky out off you know in that direction and then going east so this is going to kind of catch you a little bit off guard here it's coming from a different direction if you're in Jones County that severe thunderstorm warning again goes until 7 uh we have seen at times hail kind of fluctuating in there anywhere from a/ in to an inch in diameter as we can see uh here so right now what we're looking at is about a half to a 3/4 inch diameter hail and as we go backwards in time you'll see some yellow blobs like right in there that shows you when we had about an inch in diameter which is what prompted this severe thunderstorm warning since then some of the uh values have come down to kind of P size but also if you look into East bib we're seeing that thunderstorm part the part of that same line uh throwing some psize hail there as well no warning there so far Jasper in putam county that part looks to have weakened some so let's get into the big picture here that is the only warning that we have right now and again that goes until 7 again it was mainly issued because of the hail threat so about an inch in diameter but also uh you could see maybe upwards of 50 to 60 mph winds with that and it is starting to hit the roof here at the TV station now we can hear it coming down let's check in on that making sky cam which is kind of a weird look uh looking East and seeing it come this way we are back up on generator power now hopefully you can still hear me we'll check with Owen and if make sure that we're still uh streaming there hopefully we still are as we look at the radar shot again um that severe thunderstorm morning again having a pretty good little lightning show with it getting the radar pulled back up for you and really a lot of this is starting to kind of spread out a little bit more so the downtown Mak area again a lot of heat and humidity so there's a ton of energy here uh for this to tap into as it comes on in so it's not going to fall apart anytime soon soon the part that actually has the warning for it is here in Jones County again that goes until 7 there's a new one I was wondering if they're going to pop it all right so this is for bib County this includes making in the downtown area so all of downtown and where the station is right now is under a severe thunderstorm warning uh that just has been issued which goes until 7:30 again this is going east to west so this is not the normal movement of what we see are we still streaming we're good okay all right we took a lightning h at the station here uh and we're on generator power here now but looks like the stream should still be going so two severe thunderstorm warnings that is for Jones the core of Jones for a gray uh and then as you get into Southern Jones County into bib now so this includes the Mak area let's check in on the hail situation and again we've seen hail at times get up to about an inch in diameter as we look in East bib right now we're seeing probably close to around a half an inch that's what we're showing right here as we roll the map on up again I just want to kind of back it up here a little bit and show you where it times especially right there in the yellow north of gray where we did see an inch in diameter hail there and as we've been going through time we're seeing it kind of fluctuate either about an inch in diameter or down to a quarter to a/ inch but also it's the the Gusty winds in this uh that is something to pay attention to um 60 mph winds possible this just now blowing up in Twigs County as it just passed the Radar Site Radar Site is right here so this is west of that so this is a new part of the line it's actually kind of forming what is a line here it's all from what was an outflow boundary from this cluster of storms back here you can see the green line right in there so there's the wind and as it's been going across it has been I kind of draw it on here for you right along through here is where these storms are lining up along that boundary so you can almost think about it as like a small cold front um scooping up underneath this uh the energy the heat and humidity and all the stuff we have going out there ingredients for storms so again severe thunderstorm warning for Jones and bib there's two different cells here within the same line let's see here again going to be kind of probably a wild skycam shot here looking to the East and seeing it coming at the camera now see way back in there uh the station is right here so it's pouring here you can kind of see maybe on your sky on that you can see kind of a billowing of the rain right here and the Gusty winds coming right through here so this is kind of where the gust front is and it'll be coming right at the camera here in a second and again a pretty good little lightning show with this kind of pan down a little bit and again the wind anywhere from maybe 50 to 60 mil hour as this comes in the warning for bib County goes until and this is the core of mon this is right through downtown and through the the core of the mon bib area goes until 7:30 the one in Jones County around gray goes until 7 we'll check on that you can see the lightning strikes in the distance we'll check on that again in just a second let's go back to the radar shot that by next time we go to that sky cam it's probably going to be impossible to see anything the rain will be coming right at it so again two severe thunderstorm Wars uh both of them have Jones County in there one of them is just for you know what just moved through gray it's from round oak Southward and then this other one is for extreme Southern Jones County into East bib but as I mentioned this goes until 730 the one at the top goes until 7 you can see right there and looks like a change to that severe thunderstorm War they broaden it out it looks like back into Jones County some polygon changed there for just a second again hail possible with some of this we've seen anywhere from a half inch to an inch in diameter once again the big takeaway from this we've seen storms and some that can get a little bit strong to severe but that this one is going the opposite way of what you're used to so this is coming from the East going west so it may kind of Catch You by surprise you're used to seeing things coming coming from the west and then rolling East all right let's go back up top here and check that makan sky cam and again it's you can kind of see it going in real time first of all you can see a little bit of a rainbow here from the Fickling Building shooting up but also all of this right in here I don't know if you can make it out but you can defin there's just pouring rain right through here and it's going to be coming right at the camp camera so any minute now on our camera coming in this direction will start to uh probably lose visibility there so again the potential for you know 60 m per hour wind gust possible in there and again some hail that could be you know/ inch to an inch in diameter at times we've seen it kind of fluctuate a little bit again the warning for the making area goes until 7:30 that's one for southern Jones into bib County East Bib and then the one for Central Jones County goes until 7 so two different warnings right now all along the same line all right we'll go take a look at let's see about the hail in the storm here and again anywhere you see in that kind of brownish orang shaded area this is going to be generally half inch you can see right there um Jones County same thing probably half inch Twigs County again this is a new part that's starting to kind of Blossom here maybe half inch or a little bit larger so we'll have to watch that part in Twigs County too as we go through uh this is starting to kind of strengthen a little quicker here so we'll see how this goes we may end up getting a warning here for Twigs County in a second rain pouring down on the roof here at the station we can hear it again it is going the opposite direction of what you're used to so this is an east to west Movement we just get so locked in to kind of looking for the dark sky from one general direction most of the time and it's primarily west to east so this is what I call backwards rain so it's just great to see the rain though I mean this is fantastic if it comes with a few bells and whistles a little bit of you know some lightning and a little bit of hail and some Gusty winds and so be it but boy we could really use the rain so this is not all bad news here let's go back up top now that the rain is pouring here see what the sky cam is looking like oh that's pretty wild looking when I pan toward the South you can see it really coming down out there over the trees I'm going pan up a little bit and you can see those rain shafts coming down in that part of downtown I don't know if you can make it out on your screen you should be able to you should be able to see it kind of coming down way out there in the distance good heavy rainfall there let's pan on back up toward the north east and that's the outside edge of the storm that you're about to see so all this is rolling into downtown again yes it's severe but but boy it's really great to see we really could use it all right we'll go back to the radar we'll check in that in just a second the movement of this storm is not terribly fast it's only moving West at around 15 miles an hour so doesn't have a whole lot of giddy up on it there's a look at our hail cores again like I said we're keeping an eye on this in Twigs County every new scan that comes in showing a little bit more hail these are the where the strongest hail is Jasper or actually I should say I'm used to go yeah is Jasper going to putam fromont putam to Jasper here you can see nearly an inch in diameter there so again it's somewhat of a line that is moving to the west and the two severe thunderstorm warnings that we have are right in the Jones and bib County area so the one up top again this goes until 7 o'clock for another 10 minutes here and another 40 minutes on this that is coming into East bib if this thing doesn't weaken down and so far it hasn't they may the National Weather Service May stretch this polygon all the way through the mon bib area as it's riding toward the west here once again I can't say it enough it's it's coming from the other direction from usual that's a pretty cool looking camera shot right there you can see the rain off in the distance and you can see a little bit from the Fickling Building up a little bit of a rainbow right there so yeah it's engulfing downtown and heading toward the camera we're just not not used to seeing that happen coming you know toward the camera by the time we get these storms into downtown from this Vantage Point looking this way they're moving away from us and in the afternoon like this with the sun still out you can usually get some really cool rainbows there's a little bit of you can see it out front but it's not operating in such a way as to give us a lot of rainbows with it going toward the west so all that rain coming in going to really cool down some mid to Upper 90s that have been out there much much needed rain back to the radar shot we go and as we look across again it's just those two warnings so it's for Jones County both of them are for Jones County but the one in the bottom also includes bib County in there too the one up top around gray that goes until seven as I mentioned the one that is to the south of that from Jones into bib goes until 7:30 uh and once again it is is going to the West so the left side of your screen opposite of what you're used to seeing where it would normally go west to east so if you're just kind of looking at a static image of this thinking oh I know which way it's going it's going toward the East there uh it's not it's going the other direction waiting for the radar to update here and take control over on this computer I think we might be able to pop it up here and see if we can get this thing to loop again it's trying to load back up inside These Warnings hailed it could be anywhere from you know/ inch to maybe an inch most of what we've been seeing is half inch and we're also watching down here in Twigs County to see if this you know balloons into something bigger just on the past few scans this has started to kind of take off somewhat of a line here yeah that's pretty wild you can see the rainbow with the rain coming toward us this is not very common here uh the rain coming across you can see off in the distance through the where the TV station is we're out there in rainland back Beyond there H crossing over the river now again coming down in this direction here so it'll be it's pretty cool there's a rainbow right there a little part of the double edge um so not quite all the way into downtown just yet I hope it holds together a lot of folks Wan in this rain and I'm included you can see that well defined Edge there so TV stations right here camera shot I'm showing you from back here looking into it uh out front that green line right there that's going by that's the outflow boundary so that you might have seen some of the dark clouds the Shelf clouds that were coming in or when people send them in we call them like said of selfies we call them shelfies uh so might be getting some pretty cool camera shots with those outside of this anything else that we're seeing is just pretty much regular old rain with a few rumbles see really the camera is not jostling around like it was earlier when the outflow came through the main wind was with that that outflow band The Wind ahead of the storm now we're just waiting on the actual rain to come on across again hope it holds together sometimes you'll see with these where they'll you be going you know kicking it and then you'll start to see just parts of it just collapse out so let's see here and this is actually showing weakening by a good bit um just look at all the purples in here and notice how that starts to kind of wash out so that's why I'm saying I hope this holds together and you'll see this sometimes too where the storms that are going the outflow from them will then cause thunderstorms out ahead of them so you know the wind from another storm created these sometimes as these collapse the wind coming out of them will then act as like a little front to then spur storms out on their Edge you can see that outflow boundary through there so this may be an area that starts to develop and for the whole area everybody's pretty quiet except for this line which goes from Twigs County all the way up uh into Jasper but the core of it is what's going on in Jones and bib but again just kind of keeping an eye on that 75475 split right here around Bowling Brook in Monroe County that might end up becoming something which is good uh some rain that we you know a lot of folks really wanting that again if if you're in the making area you're like please hold together because this severe thunderstorm War if this trend continues this will not go past 7:30 I'm not even sure it will go until 7:30 if it continues to weaken down like this let's take a look at the hail again and yep that goes right along with it notice how this main area in the Middle where the two warnings are they're starting to collapse if we go back you can see a lot of the hail in there but then we go forward and now the hail is gone so that is a weakening part of that storm still a little bit of hail P size in Twigs County the rain hadn't even made it to the camera yet and it doesn't look as heavy as it was it may just be left with sprinkles by the time it gets into downtown a little more these kind of storms this time of year can do that though they'll just brakes uh but they'll weaken down on you where you just took another Power Hit at the station we're going to check make sure our stream is still going okay so we'll see what happens the one in Jones County just to the west of gray I'm pretty confident in three minutes when we hit 7 o'cl that that one will fall off the map for it has weakened a good bit for now anyway we'll see what it does as it goes west again this is all moving West backwards from what you're used to seeing the one here in the moning area goes technically until 7:30 we'll see if it actually goes that long um as that storm looks to be kind of weakening too we'll kind of look at the chat too and see if they're talking about anything with um maybe expiring the make the bib County one any earlier because of it weakening but like I said too we're watching Twigs County down here to see if that holds together and gets any stronger then you that could be an area that may have a warning with it so two minutes left on the one on the uh Jones County one that is west of gray the one was pointing we're pointing at right here Jones is canceled and will likely cancelan war in the next few minutes okay so the one up top they've already let this this one go polygon's still there it'll drop off in less than two minutes and the talk is from the National Weather Service that this one here for the making area is probably going to be canceled here soon too it doesn't look like that's going to there won't be a requirement but this thing going to 7:30 that's another 32 minutes for a storm that is weakening really quickly so I hate to tell you that because I mean um I know a lot of folks are really hoping this rain holds together so we'll see how it goes we're waiting on a new scan to come in sometimes again with these storms you'll see a collapse in one area but then they'll be strengthening somewhere else and as I mentioned this here in the bowling broke area sometimes you'll see as Z storms collapse again think about all the wind coming out of its thunderstorm that cooler there go the Mak one just dropped off and the one up here up top should drop off in a second too uh will create storms out in front so we'll keep an eye on what this is in Monroe County and don't give up if you're in the bib County area some of this may still hold together uh coming across 75 now it may be lighter than what it was once showing but hopefully you can get some rain out of this if we can get it on through here but it may break apart some and then we may see development out ahead Lake tobasi area and sometimes what you can see in this is where it'll Leap Frog where people in the middle kind of get left out this part can collapse create a new storm out here and then in the middle you kind of just get left out and yeah there's a new scan it's much lighter the returns there and this is starting to Blossom a little bit more in Monroe County and then this again uh as we get into South bib Twigs County if that holds together we'll actually get measurable rainfall at the airport that rarely ever seems to happen so all right we have no warnings uh which is good we'll keep an eye on this in Monroe County that's new rain which is fantastic uh but a fair amount of lightning and some of this east of fory and then the bowling broke area once again this is going toward the west so as you are used to seeing things generally nearly every time going west to east this is going in a different direction as you get into our Southern counties nothing going on there uh so it's basically Twigs up into bib Jones Monroe and Jasper is where everything is right now if it holds eventually some much needed rain hopefully will come into Crawford County maybe north atin northern um Peach County the same thing if that can hold but as we're seeing you can see here here I mean there are just times where it starts to kind of fall apart I don't even know if it ever made it to the sky cam that's pretty crazy to have had that much rain yeah just pretty much vaporized and vanished before it ever got into downtown that's amazing so all right so we have no warning so that should conclude this Gathering here and if we need to come back on and stream some of this stuff again for you we will otherwise just enjoy some much needed rain and hope it holds together for you we'll see you
