Maria Review: Angelina Jolie Anchors A Thoughtful Biopic, But I Just Couldnt Love It

and are you a fan of Angelina Joi and her portrayal of Maria callus in the movie Maria if so subscribe to our Channel and hit the like button we all got a short joke for him why had the tomato turn red because it saw to Sal interesting but enough about that let's dive into the article as a cile with Decades of film watching experience I was both fascinated and detached by Maria if metan narrative device is a stroke of Genius and is singing scenes that are nothing short of breathtaking however despite its many appealing aspects I found myself hesitant to wholeheartedly endorse it Angelina Jolie delivers a mesmerizing performance as Maria callus but director Pablo Lan's decision to present her as an object of fear or sadness left me cold instead we discover that callus was compelled to accept much of her life circumstances in this phase she is seizing control and Maria essentially surrenders to her Dominion she summons a filmmaker Cody Smith MC whom she names after her hallucinatory drug who questions her about her life experiences her Visions come to life shaping or viewing experience reality occasionally interesting sometimes abruptly but this movie is essentially Maria's Story the account of her we witness is the one she's crafting and sharing with herself Maria is filled with strong and interesting uh creative choices and the singing scenes are easy standouts uh frequently the movie finds itself in a Lial State as the character Maria seamlessly transitions through time whenever Julie's character gets absorbed in moments other than the present be it memories dreams or something in between these scenes are artfully arranged with a flexible visual style that enhances the contrast this technique is most impactful during ksa's performances although her professional days are long past she yearns to rain her voice and attempts to do so when Maria sings She is suddenly transported back to when she sang the sun previously uh for all its artfulness Maria left me c um in Maria as well as Angelina and Jolie acting there are many aspects to appreciate however my emotional involment with certain seams should not be misconstrued as deep engagement to put it simply I often felt detached from the film The Way It Was crafted created a sort of wall that could only be broken down in rare instances this isn't always an issue some movies are more intellectual than emotional and that's perfectly fine fine however this movie seems to Pride itself on its artistic qualities so there's much that it became challenging to feel fully satisfied with mere admiration I must admit my encounter with Maria wasn't as captivating for me as it might be for others despite its many appealing aspects I find myself hesitant about wholeheartedly endorsing it if we were to discuss laan decisions over a casual evening I would surely appreciate the conversation however I must confess that I don't feel an immediately urge to re-experience those choices again Maria premiered at the Venice Film Festival the film is 124 minutes long and not yet rated
