First Quarter in Louisville Kentucky they love thoroughbreds who know how to run down the stretch and get to the wire first and certainly they've seen plenty of them here from John to unite us to Lamar Jackson today the Louisville Cardinals will try to live up to that Legacy we have a ranked versus unranked battle coming up here and you know how chaos can ensue if they start smelling an upset as we'll see a squad from Conference USA the Jacksonville State Gamecocks taking on the 20th ranked team in the land the Louisville Cardinal for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis joined here in the booth by David poock and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing started the Cardinals will kick it away to start us off he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was hoping for something a little more dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the Gamecock offense will get the first swing of the game and here comes the big fella a staple of this aerial attack Jesse and he's a guy they can line up all over the field David there's matchups out there waiting to be taken advantage of yeah and it's so nice to be able to do that it makes it easy to play quarterback when you can feature a guy like this that's fast big and strong I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven he'll keep it himself they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and as a defensive player you see so much option nowadays and so many different variants of it and you got to play very disciplined sound football and you could tell he knew he was responsible for the quarterback he goes and gets him sits him on the ground creates a tackle for a loss so already they've hit a speed bump on this opening drive it's third and eight back to pass it's Turner unleashes one it's caught downfield able to work it to the 39 yd line and that'll be a first down wow and what a great job by that quarterback finding his open receiver on third down you know guys one of the most telling stats at the end of the game is third down conversion percentage if you're a great third down team it's invaluable to your offensive success and that's why teams drill third down so much in practice out of the shotgun they go to the ground a confident tough efficient run gets it up to the 44 this running back just doesn't go down easily it's just difficult for defenses to get him on the ground not overly huge but if I'm an offensive coordinator I'm going to continue to find ways to feature him and just yeah you know what what let his talent do the rest halfway there on first down it's second and five they go to the counter wrestled to the ground after picking up the first down and already this guy is leaving his mark on this game opening drive back-to- back runs where he's found a way to get positive yards he was able to pick up the First on that last carry they should keep feeding him the football the more success they have it's going to open up the Play action game the game are flying down the field out of the gun the inside give they pick up half of it it'll be second and five I like this guy as a running back because he can run between the tackles he can also go outside he can really do it all halfway there on first down it's second and five from the gun the running back looking for room good solid pick up there now they can start to smell it with a first down at the 31 I think it's really important for this offense they get this guy going early in the game and they're doing a nice job of that right now remember he's the kind of running back who gets better as the game goes on that's a really good omen for this offense considering his success now early off the play fake on first down to throw and he was hit just as he released it and it falls to the turf it's hard throwing in the pocket man you got bodies and 300lb dudes falling all over the place they're trying to hit you that time the pressure got to him and it forced the incompletion the incompletion on first down now they face a second and 10 from the 31 now on the counter maybe a three yd pickup there third and long coming up it's third [Applause] if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum on Third and long try to convert through the air finds his man it's cuber and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down and the Gamecocks come to the line with a new set of downs quick completion to the right they get it down to the seven on that pass play in Prime position for a score I love offenses and quarterbacks that are willing to take the easy stuff take those easy throws that are guaranteed to get positive yards yeah I'm going to take big shots down the field too but don't forget it's easier to pick up second and five third and five and it is when we start getting those long yarded situations he'll do it himself he steps and powers and works his way they finally get him down at the two this offense is really going to try to keep the defense on their heels in the Run game by doing it with different guys it'll be running backs it'll be quarterbacks they may even try to get receivers involved in the Jet Sweep game reverse game as well but a nice play there TI quarters deep in the Red Zone but they can pick up a first down without scoring third and he takes it to the house touchdown Jacksonville State and they just keep feeding it to their Workhorse back to open this game great job in the open field he's got tremendous Vision he can make people miss you saw all of that on display here in the opening drive they'll try to add another to their lead and the pat makes it 7 nothing precise Relentless execution on that 13pl scoring drive and finish to deal with the short touchdown run from the two kickoff team is on on the field they'll try to drive this one deep he'll start the return inside is five and the returner is stopped the Cardinals offense will go to work for the first time and both of these teams love to use the tight end Jesse and they do it very well both of these quarterbacks know who their go-to guy is it's the tight end as you just mentioned re these guys find ways to get open and they make their quarterbacks look good oh they make them look real good big strong bodies can catch the football can make plays after the catch the modern tight end position just continues to expand that's a way to give yourself some breathing room now the second play of the drive from the 36 looking for a man it's Shu he's got an open man that is exactly what you're looking forward when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the Stop and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a matchup that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two it's a reverse he's knocked down to the Back Field a swarming defense and he'll lose seven you know as an offense often times you try the reverse play because you're trying to take advantage of a defense over pursuing and by a lot of defensive team speed didn't work right there great discipline by this defense now on second down they'll go to the ground and he is swarmed under a host of Defenders there to make the stop who man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack a third and long coming up here looking to throw and he needs a chunk play just masterful working that sideline and getting the toe down for the catch hard work pays off Guys these offenses work so hard week in week out working on those critical down and distances third downs and having that conversion this early in the game that's got to feel good for this offense and they'll line up from the 31 on first down fires to the middle he makes a catch and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one that wide receiver on the outside's dangerous when you're playing Zone coverage it's really hard because you're not chasing him you can't really get hands on him you got to make sure you send more guys his Direction maybe slide those linebackers toward that wide receiver so you got a little more help on the outside he'll pull it on the read Relentless tough running gets it down to the four and that's what I love about the QB Run game in this offense is it just keeps these defenses off balance we're going to see a lot of running backs doing their work between the tackles in this game as well but you see how mixing in the quarterback run too it just keeps this defense so confused going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone and he takes it in for the score touchdown Cardinal I tell you when this drive started the defense thought they had them in a hole not anymore what a performance and I really like the play calling by the offensive coordinator on that last drive that was a nice mixture of running and throwing and getting different players involved really nice job very poised in that play calling and it showed up with the touchdown they'll try to attack one more on their score exra point and it's up and good so a drive there of 85 yds and they finish it off with the score from the four and we're all square as he's set to kick it away here he comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Jacksonville State has it back and the Gamecock will go to work out of the gun the running back has it on the move at the 30 and he breaks into the open and he was loose and not stopped until he gets to the 47 yd line defense is going to have their hands full trying to stop this guy they better rally to the football and get multiple hats cuz he is not easy to bring down linebacker shuffling around trying to keep the quarterback from getting a read They're going to go right back to him on first down and the defense doing great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first after picking up a couple at second and eight to the air it's turner He's Got His man they'll get him stopped at the 34 he's got 10 yds on that one and a first down Andy listen you get Zone coverage and you can hit that curl route and he comes open continually keep hitting it this might be a play to come back to the Gamecocks with the first and 10 fast motion from the offense from the shotgun they'll run it you'll take this every time five yards on the first down play Hey five to six yards a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at that but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them honest down that rock they've gotten this thing up and running fast back and forth we're inside a minute to play in the first they think they can impose their will here with the run to the right not much room a pick up of two down to the 28 and offenses want to continue to feature the Run they want balance even if it's not super successful you can take it little bit time just to keep that defense honest they'll snap it from the 28 in field goal range but it's third and short they go to the draw he'll come through on third Downs he's got enough and they'll mark it at the 23 we're through one period and these receivers are showing out big time take a look at the stats [Music] [Applause] we've got a good one going here and looking forward to keep those vibes Second Quarter rolling here in the second down to the 23 for this first and 10 quarterback on the keeper he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three they're trying to go option but the linebacker shows his open field tackling ability and also his recognition he expected the quarterback to keep it went after and was able to make the tackle for loss got some work to do after that last play second and 13 on the ground it's Lewis Powers forward but stopped after a pick up of two to the 24 man that D tackle is a freak athlete did you see him come out of his stance and beat the offensive lineman getting to the running back catlike quickness this will be the eighth play of the drive but a great opportunity for the defense to get off the field on third down going up top he's moving out of the pocket they make the stop of what a job on the scramble to get loose and pick up that first down sometimes these guys just have eyes in the back of their head you saw it right there he was able to buy himself time get outside the pocket and at that point I think the decision was pretty easy hey I can go get this with my feet he was able to do that now they got a fresh set of downs they've moved it into scoring territory first and 10 from the 11 looking to the end zone and it's a touchdown it is also a play in which there is a flag on the field let's see what the call is so that penalty will be declined and the touchdown stands lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven so an 82 yd drive there and they finish it with an 11 yd touchdown Dart the kickoff team on the field as they'll send this one away and he takes this from inside the five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 offense getting set for first down power football with the Run he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down all right well look I know the defense was feeling real good about their run de coming into this one and how they've been playing up to this point but finally David the offense breaks through and they finally generate something positive on the ground and I can't tell you how easy it is when you're going to throw the ball consistently and I know it I'm going to pin my ears back and I'm going to get to the quarterback it makes life really easy on a defensive line but when you can have balance now the defense doesn't know what's coming they need more of this if they're going to be successful on offense you know the one thing you can say about this defense they pursue the football the first guy might miss the second guy might miss but there's going to be more and more hats flying to the ball carryer you saw it on that play getting the tackle for loss lost one on that last one it's second and 11 looking to throw it's shot finds a spot in the middle and the defense makes a big hit knocks him down when you play zone coverage when you got a wide receiver that's a beast it becomes very very difficult I got to make sure I play physical and maybe even shade the side of the wide receiver having a lot of success now on third down for this offense they'll try to run for it and he's down at the 41 that's a first down and a nice job dialing up that short yardage situation play call there David they needed one yard they picked up two yeah great job up front great job by the back knowing where they need to go nice having a hole you can get through and not have to just do it all on your own as a running back and the Cardinals are on the move the lone backs got it really nice stop there from this senior leader they're strong and they're scraw defensive tackles they're strong there's such big jokers in the Middle where they just lock out those offensive linemen and running backs listen they don't have much of a chance when you got that 300 plus pound guy grabbing you around the shoulder pad you tend to go to the ground pretty quickly on second down he'll fire and the quarterback is snowed under the number one job is to protect their quarterback and they did not they did not but my number one job as a defensive lineman is to attack your quarterback and get him on the ground just like this getting the sack rattle this guy as much as you can as many hits as possible on these quarterbacks third down conversions always a huge stat and they've got a third and long from the 27 looking downfield and he needs a bunch didn't have much of a choice just had to throw that one away it'll be fourth down and this is why you don't want to get in these situations third and long defense knows its pass they're playing P playing deep QB has nowhere to go with the football so he just throws it away the Cardinals decide to punt it away they'll have to punt for the first time this afternoon no return coming here fair catch is signal for and made just shy of the 30 guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on o hand off from the gun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three you can't let the same guy beat you over and over and over again you got to make adjustments sometimes you got to bring more guys in the Box more guys to the football and make sure he's not the one who beat you not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 they'll run it from the gun they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks and runs like that are like body blows in a boxing match four five sixy gains early turn into 20 30 40 yd gains later they really wear down defenses and they test their physic out how bold will they be on third down after that last run scanning the field it's Turner makes the grab he'll have up for the first down and they stop him at the 45 and I just love having match up out wide that I know can win guys that are so fast on the perimeter that threaten with speed and guys start bailing and getting out of there and on third down and I need that yardage I can go to him and he'll get the first down on the C and the game Cox will snap it on First and 10 used the play fake now to throw got it in the middle it's cuber they're ripping off chunks of yardage they get it to the 33 it is so good for an offense early in the game to get in a rhythm and to start stringing first downs together it makes the game really easy and puts that defense in a situation where they're starting to get tired they want to sub they want to get other guys on the field stringing first downs together like this makes it hard to defend out of the gun they'll run it inside he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three great play by the defense there listen they got to do more running backs obviously had a lot of success they got to continue to stop this run game be physical and not let this guy beat him last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 the give from the gun they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one maybe that stop is a good sign for this defense maybe the defense is starting to figure it out obviously offense has been running the football with so much success something has to change that was a good start now facing a third and [Applause] long looking to throw and he needs a bunch and the defense picks up a sack getting the quarterback down at the 44 great job up front on this pass rush defense in a dime Personnel grouping they've got six DBS on the field they're expecting pass so they're going to have to win with four guys and they're 41 they got the job [Applause] [Music] done the Gamecock will bring the punt team onto the field first punt of the day and he'd love to lock them up close to their goal line and the ball hits at the three and gets into the end zone it'll be a Touchback the Louisville offense is headed back out on the field that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balanced find a little balance between the Run Jesse and working in that pass I think too David it's just going to take a spark it just takes one play to get this thing picked up and going they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three keeping it on the ground with the single back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three you know the runner just has to have a little bit more patience he bounced that thing outside a little too early and as a result lost yards here on third down to throw it's [Applause] Shu and he just throws it away on third down I don't think you can give up on a play like that well the quarterback in his intended target just simply didn't have the timing there the ball Falls incomplete on third Now setting up fourth down and the Cardinals will line up to pun it away this will be a second time they've had to kick it away makes a move he'll get it up to about the 44 yd line before they slam the brakes on him Jacksonville State has it back and the Gamecock will go to work the run from the shotgun they'll pick up four second and Six coming well this offense came into the game knowing they wanted to be physical they wanted to establish the line of scrimmage and they're running down hill right at this defense and they're turning out positive yardage early after the productive first down play it's second and six the call and throw off the RPO and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down it's really easy to say the word RPO and say I'm going to run them but you got to make those decisions and you got to make them fast you can't get confused by all the craziness that's going on by all the guys moving around or talking nice job by the quarterback staying in the moment seeing it throwing the slant making sure he makes the right decision the offense getting set for a first down from the 45 he wants to throw got a man it's brown and that was some kind of collision between a couple of big bodies there and he stopped from getting the first down as a tight end if you're going to be good in the passing game you've got to be able to feel the windows when defenses Play Zone coverage and he did a really good job of that right there he didn't rush he didn't hurry he took his time found the soft spot and gave his quarterback an easy place to throw the football caught near the sticks it's Lewis he steps out of bounds but he's got enough for a first down all right defense it ain't working right they're stringing together several first downs here we're going to need to change this up find something we can disrupt the quarterback and and mess up this offense a little bit and the Gamecocks getting set on First and 10 he's going to pass with the catch it's right and a really nice job by the wide receiver you run a drag route find Space they're in zone coverage they're not covering manto man behind a little hole look at that QB y'all get them the same page you can tell they were and that's why they got the first down quarterback stands alone all wide receivers they're going to throw it again fires left calls it in they make the stop at the 5 yd line but they've got it first and goal this defense has got to be better in coverage you want to get off the field you got to keep keep defending you got to do something to make the offense feel uncomfortable so far way too easy for this offense the Gamecock will try to put one on the board on first and goal the offense will quickly use a timeout defense is backed up shadow of the goal post trying to defend their own End Zone back to throw it's Turner lets it go to the end zone and that one is Right On Target if his Target was the first row and you just got to wonder if the pass rush affected the QB's accuracy on that throw he had his guy wide open in the end zone but he had to throw it a split second faster than he wanted to and the ball got away from him and the D deny them on second and goal he's looking to throw guard in the back field it's right that completion will take it inside the four and the offense is threatening they'll immediately call timeout defense man it helps you a lot when you could be a linebacker or a corner or some safety anybody and you see the QB throw the football now I can break on the football right away and limit gains like right here on Fires into traffic it's picked off and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back Britto never a good time for a turnover but it always seems a little worse when you're about to knock on the door of the end zone no doubt about it and it's this area of the field rease where you're exec really has to be great because down in the Red Zone the windows to throw into for a quarterback were smaller and they close a lot quicker so you really have to be on the same page as your wide receiver and that time the offense and the QB simply were not Louisville has it back in the offense coming out ready to attack they'll ride the running back and leave it with him good pick up on that play it'll bring up second and four a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before for the half got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four he's looking to throw he's going for a big play downfield it's complete a huge pickup oh look out touchdown Cardinals and once he got loose it was all over yeah and the passing game comes through man and we need more of that in the second half an extra point away from tying this football game Trail a little bit in the first half stayed calm if this passing game can continue to heat up look out in the second half [Music] he'll try to tack on one more right down the middle aggressive play calling on that drive just two plays they get the long touchdown pass to pay it off after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again on the run from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on o they'll throw it on first down got a man in the middle the offense uses a timeout to stop the clock and they'll get a quick breather you see it more and more smaller wide receivers I don't care about their size anymore I put them in the slot I let him get a good match up they're so quick people can't get their hands on them they make plays and I feed them the football these are guys that have a lot of catches throughout and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes [Music] [Music] first half in the books time now to join Kevin Conners in our halftime update guys who's had a better seat there in Louisville for a fun first half than you each of these two offenses has looked like well oiled machines but it doesn't take a genius to figure out these two passing attacks have run circles around these defenses man or Zone nothing seems to be working and I'm not sure that defensive coordinator is going to be able to figure things out here at halftime with that said let's send it back to the guys at Lenn Federal Credit Union Third Quarter [Applause] stadium and the Gamecock will line up to kickoff and start the second half on the on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Louisville offense is headed back out on the field first drive of the second half always fun to watch you see what type of tweaks were made at the half especially when you locked up in a ball game like this one yeah and it's been a good game I mean it's been a little bit of back and forth and a feeling out process and now once you get in the second half who's going to get aggressive Palmer who's going to take some shots try to make some plays and really go for it yeah it's interesting I think as play callers right now you learn a lot about these coaching staffs with respect to who does make the best adjustments there's a lot of coaches that believe we're just going to be who we are we're going to keep doing what we do we're just going to do it better but then there are others that tweak things a little bit on offense and on defense we're going to find out here and sticking to the run I tell you what a lot of teams that are really good are really stubborn and they continue to run the football even with little success so this offense is going to continue to focus on running the football football you can tell back to pass it's Shu looking deep he's got it on the left running toward the tap dodg down Lal and with that one they jump on top here in the second half quarterbacks love receivers that can get separation but that amount of Separation uh is a little excessive I agree Reese and I think the defense needs to have a little powow on the sidelines and talk about what just happened because that was absolute busted coverage on the back end the defense can't keep playing [Music] like now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and the extra point is true and they're on top Top by seven quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they get it done with a big play a 76 Y for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Jacksonville State has it back and the Gamecock will go to work they'll try the Run running hard and getting six yds out to the 26 when you're a defense it is stop the run first that is your first responsibility it makes the whole game easy and right now they got it going on the ground the defense is going to have to change something up these little tiny Dink and dug Dink and dug you keep doing this they'll go all the way down the field on you so you might want to get a little bit more aggressive [Applause] excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away in football you hear the ter quick but don't hurry and and you can tell when you run these rpos the QBs want to make that decision quick I think he hurried it a little bit too much got the ball out quick but obviously was inaccurate in his pass now looking for that first down on Third and short from the 26 to the air it's Turner couldn't find a man and just had to throw it away to avoid a negative play defense did a great job third and short on the opponent side of the field they're expecting quick throw everybody they dug their heel on the ground they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion the gamec will send out the punt unit this will be a second time they've had to kick it away oh he gave him the dead leg returns like that are why you don't settle with a fair catch if you don't have to picks up just a little bit of yards to help out the O they think there's room to run to the right here he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and if I'm the running back I'm be like listen can you give me something can you give me some space to try to make somebody Miss and not have another guy right next to me I'm giving the offensive line an earful I need some holes need some space up front they got to do a better job not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 he's looking to throw grabbed over the middle it's lacy makes a catch and knock down nice job by the receiver on the in route there and how about the speed after he made his break he was able to actually separate a little bit from the DB helping out his QB on that one third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doo see if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass complete in the middle really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down on third down offenses have their plays what they like in third and short what they like third and medium third and long great job by the offense having success now it's in coming upon the defense to learn their plays and try to shut it down throughout the game gives it to the back on the draw not much room to run let's give him one to the 33 this offensive line better figure out a plan for this deep tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last play didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he'll try to pop the draw plows ahead for a pick up of one to the thir 32 32 y up third they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here looking downfield it's Shu got his man downfield touchdown Cardinals and they take it in for six more points number zero that's his third touchdown pass of the day the defense has no clue how to respond right now no and the defense has had absolutely no answer he's been on the money he's been on fire making the right decisions and just carving this defense up [Music] [Applause] they'll try to add another to their lead the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they cap it off with a 32 yd touchdown pass the kickoff team out there set to booted away set to kick this one away he'll start the return inside as SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on o now we'll get a chance to see if they can answer that last score trailing by 14 Jesse Yeah at this point of the game I feel like offensively you should go back to what's been working for you in this game don't be afraid to dial up plays that you've already had success with running it and throwing it it's okay to repeat plays down 14 at this point and I would also say Palmer kind of understanding that my defense is not playing great so I know offensively I got to put some good possessions together here make something happen on this side of the football and the defense makes the stop after a minimal game you know I really like this QB running with football because I know he's got a lot of speed but he's not the biggest guy in the world so he's not going to be able to break a lot of tackles you really got to do a good job of trying to scheme ways to get him out in more space looking for a man it's Turner pressure coming and they fail to hook up on third down yeah it fell incomplete because he did a great job of getting to the quarterback he's in the pocket yeah he's he's comfortable but you get in there and you get a hit on him now he feels it can't throw the football can't follow through with his arm motion nice job by the defense and the Gamecocks line up to punt it away no return coming he'll call for the fair catch Louisville has it back and the offense coming out ready to attack this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer is a different animal now you got to protect it you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and [Applause] four he leaves it with his back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three linebackers have such an amazing responsibility got to play run got to play pass how about this seeing the Run aggressively getting downhill and getting in the back field and making the tackle for a loss ball is at the 41 as this defense tries to force the punt on Third and long from the wants to pass got it in the middle it's lacy now they're starting to feel it they've got a first down at the 44 we asked earlier this week who's your favorite receiver and of course he said the open one but we know who he really wants to go to on third down the best one I mean I think the open one obviously the politically correct answer but you want to find the guy that you got that great chemistry with you know exactly where he's going to be you got that Bond and that trust made connection he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down it's hard to run a route or get lost near the sidelines and understand exactly where you're at nice job understanding I'm starting to get close to the sidelines throttling down a little bit catching the football and making sure I was in boundage wants to throw on first down off the play fake caught over the middle it's Bell that's right on the money with that that throw the defense was there but they are in the Red Zone with a first down at the 12 it doesn't matter what the defense has tried to do man coverage Zone coverage Blitz whatever quarterback has been locked in 350 passing yards now the Cardinals will snap it on First and 10 from the gun the ground game no what a move touchdown Cardinals and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house and the running back gets his second rushing touchdown of the game you want to continue to feed this guy you could tell he's got to knows for the End Zone knows how to get in there knows how to make things happen [Music] lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is true and the lead balloons to 21 so that scoring Drive took only six plays and the scoring play came on the 12yd [Music] run about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown here he comes from inside his own five and the return man has no place to run no place to hide and a place to be tackled Jacksonville State has it back and the Gamecock will go to work they're down by 21 points but you get a touchdown here and you do at least apply a little game pressure Jesse it's true I think for them to get back in this one at this point now they need the quarterback to play his best football he's going to have to be good really pre- snap David make sure they're in the right looks and he's got to be really good with his decision making he's got to be doubted in because defensively you're giving up points so it's not like you have the luxury of your defense playing great the offense is going to have to score and score pretty dang quickly gets it out quickly tackled immediately after the catch great job creating space that's what you're supposed to do when you get man covered you got to find a way to get a step make it easy for your quarterback to read that leverage and when he drags across the field he can see had him he completes it for the first down third down and this offense is already in a world of trouble they could really use the conversion not to mention multiple scores and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up this is a point where you just got to be able to focus the critical down and distances in this game like that third down right there when it's a good throw you got to make the catch you've got to be able to make that play the Gamecock will pun it away on fourth down fourth time tonight we've seen this guy come on to punt slips through the line that Nifty return sets up the offense and negates some of the yardage on the punt looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out the Louisville offense is headed back out on the field single back formation and they give it to it a strong long tackle and wrap up from the junior I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down to the air it's Shu it's complete to the right brought down at the 32 yd line picks up 15 yards on the play and an important first down really nice discipline by that receiver against man coverage because you know that throw is going to be contested with a defender in your back pocket he fights back to the football he fights through contact and shows really strong hands on the catch this guy can throw it they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one here comes the offense on second down he's looking to throw and it'll be incomplete this is some physical pass defense well that looked like it was going to be in completion but how about the defender making the hit and forcing the incompletion they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one third and long and he'll try to throw for it a strike downfield and another big game for this offense they are putting explosive pass after explosive pass up in this one really nice job there of the quarterback reading coverage he knew exactly where to go with the football and at what exact time the timing could not have been better they get the completion on third down setting up first and goal and the Cardinals look to keep this drive humming he wants it all Dodge down Lal and The Stomping has commenced and it's now the second time this wide receiver has scored another outstanding job with the route great job securing the catch [Music] [Applause] they'll try to add another to their lead exra and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they CA things off with a 9yd touchdown pass the kickoff unit about to go to work set kick off and he takes this from inside the five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on own they'll crank up this drive with a pass all kinds of room to throw that one in there a little more space open up that Playbook even more as they pick up the first down out to the 30 I tell you what that's great execution between the QB and receiver they look like they could execute that throw in their sleep quarterback took his steps threw it on time great route by the receiver nice job securing the catch now on first down from the 30 the give to the running back from the shotgun they make the stop but this running game moves to change as they get the first down listen his team's obviously down in this game but it's not his fault I mean this guy showed up to play he's been churning out big play after big play already over a 100 yards rushing in this game he's carrying his weight he needs his buddies around him now to pick up the slack a little bit and help get this team back in the game quickly out to the tight end he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense they pick up the first down on the drag route I know that seems like a simple route but it's actually a lot more complex than what it looks like because that route changes based on whether it's man or Zone if it's man coverage he's flying across the field if it's Zone he's got to sit down over the ball in a soft spot giving his quarterback a place to go with it nice job of those guys being on the same page there and they make the tackle not before he gets the first down now let's see if they rush to the line or let the time run out here in the third and you want to talk about his favorite re it might be everybody based on the number of guys getting touches and a chance to show off their hands in the passing Fourth Quarter game so will the Beatdown continue or is this a comeback for the ages in store we'll see as we start the fourth they'll throw it on first down and the defense picks up a sack getting the quarterback down at the 44 this defense has the ability to get pressure on the QB from The Edge and I don't necessarily mean from defensive ends but from the outside linebackers these guys get in their Sprinter stances and they come off the ball that outside linebacker showed you a speed right there now the offense has to overcome the negative play after the defense comes up with a sack to the air it's Turner he looks that one in nicely they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down and quarterback receiver on the same page nice job seeing the Zone understanding the drag route concept easy pitch easy catch if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum on third down he drops to throw can't find the man and he'll be knocked down at the 40 pretty nice as a defense right when you can go put five DBS on the field and not have to Blitz anyone trusting your front four to get the job done on third down and they do it right there getting the sack down by multiple possessions they can't come up empty on this drive in the fourth quarter they'll go for it on fourth down he puts a lot of air under it down the sideline and it's incomplete the long pass on fourth down is to novale a first down for the offense give to the single back and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up that's a really good job by the defense wrapping them up getting them on the ground take away that run game make them onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense after picking up a at second and eight give to the running back that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there third some third down conversions tougher than others this one a long one on third third down from the 43 they'll run playaction fires to the wide out got him downfield he'll work his way down to the 28 well I love play colors that want to stay aggressive regardless of what the score is regardless of how much time is left on the clock and I promise you this there are a lot of fans there are a lot of teams all across college football that are paying attention to what is happening right now the Cardinals have it with a first and 10 used the play fake now to throw a shot toward the end zone touch down Cardinal and the punishment has been extended points points and more points this offense has had their way they just keep their foot on the gas keep putting up points keep putting up touchdowns and you know what this is one of those stats days you look back and you're like that guy had 12 touchdown for the well four or five of them might have been in this game lining up to tack one more onto that lead and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and the score comes on a touchdown pass covering 28 yds the kickoff team out there getting set kick off on the run from inside his own five and the coverage team gets the returner on the ground Jacksonville State has it back and the Gamecock will go to work they've got it back after that last Drive stalled out and they were stopped on fourth down David yeah and they put a little bit of a drive together for Jesse they stalled on the other side of the field and they got to find a way to keep that momentum going as they get closer to the end zone I agree I I do like their mindset though and I think they need to continue being aggressive moving forward in this game this offense has a second down play wants to throw it's Turner they've got the screen set up makes the grab and it's enough for the first down before he's dragged to the ground that is a time honored way to slow down the rush hit him with the screen and a chunk play yeah such a great job cuz you're flying up the field to get to the quarterback cuz everything looks like pass down the field let those guys get up the field throw it right behind him he does a little bit of the rest making some moves getting up field making the big play fires the pass intercepted he goes down right there but not before coming up with a big interception man as a defense Ling late in the game man when you know it's passed you're pinning your ears back trying to get to the quarterback and DBS are trying to do this Tad them stats get the int nice job by this [Music] D Louisville has it back and the offense coming out ready to attack the give to the back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one he wants to pass it on second down complete to the left he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down it's so important that this offense is able to stay on schedule what that that means is keeping third Downs manageable that last completion to the tight end accomplished just that really nice play call passing game very effective on second down what about here on third from the gun wants to pass fires deep toward the end zone and good coverage there to knock it away and deny the score on Third and short in field goal range they dial up the pass play quarterback was trying to get through his progressions there was just simply nobody open couldn't make an accurate enough throw ball Falls incomplete Now setting up a big decision here on fourth down now on fourth down they'll try to come away with three looks as if this will be a 51 yd attempt that is no good because no game is perfect something has to go wrong so the coach will have something to gripe about in fil 14 [Applause] guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on o mistakes are going to happen as they did on that last drive now how will they respond Jesse and this is the kind of guy who's going to take full accountability that was my bad that's on me I'm about to leave this offense now down the field to score some dang I wish I would have played with you I didn't play with many quarterbacks that were just like yeah my bad hey guys I got this sorry about that it was more you should have ran a better route little bit more to go after that last completion they'll try to pick it up on second down looking to throw it's Turner they'll run the screen and they wrap him up but not before he's got enough for the first down nice job by the running back catching the football and understanding where the first down marker was I got to go get that first down did a nice job of him finally some signs of life from this offense which has done nothing in the second half it's first and 10 he's looking to throw it quickly complete finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down well that's one the DB I think would like to have back out route he was in man coverage if he could have just got out of his break a little bit sooner he might have had a chance to intercept that one and take it to the house and the Gamecocks have it with a first and 10 looking to throw it again grabbed behind the line it's right stopped after making the catch I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your hands get it to your playmaker a lot of times he'll dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game offense gets set for second [Music] down he's looking to throw using the back as a receiver on the screen and there were no creases or crevices to run through and they shove him out of bounds man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out passing game very effective on second down what about here on third they'll try to pick up the first through the air gets it out fast brought down just outside the Red Zone he moves the chains it's at the 22 really nice job there by the quarterback understanding that it's Zone coverage on third down you've going to have to find someone working into a soft spot get the ball out of your hands quickly make an accurate throw and pick up the first well done off the play fake on first down to throw wide open downfield they get him stopped at the 5 yd line but it will be first and goal from there and a nice job working the middle of the field I think it's so important to keep defenses honest and you can't just Dink and dunk outside you got to work the middle great job finding this wide receiver over the middle of the field the Gamecock have it in scoring position on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up now the offense tries to punch it in on second and goal tries again to get it in Into The End Zone he goes touchdown game CCH and listen that that is awesome to see the guys continue to fight continue to keep competing because this game is over like we don't need to fool y'all we're not trying to get y'all to stick around and improve ratings like the game's over but you're continuing to fight you're powered in for the touchdown and show your kids that we're going to always fight no matter what the score [Music] is ready to try by the point after is on for the extra point splits those uprights right in half an impressive 66 yd touchdown drive and they Clos the deal pushing their way inches into the end zone about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown set to kick it away and he hauls it in and everybody's on the edge of their seats he's brought down to the 16 team would have been much better off to take the touch back the Louisville offense is headed back out on the field the give out of the gun may not be the most memorable play of the day but it's important as he gets him out to the 25 yd line yeah and that's a great job by this offense and I tell you what fourth quarter you have the lead that's exactly what you want to do lean on these guys run the football eat that clock nice yard pickup on first down and now they can take a shot on second and short back to throw it's shot he finds his man put it right on him sweet play good pickup and they'll move the change with the first down they showed great trust in their quarterback right there and why not he's had an outstanding game an outstanding game has taken care of the football now late in the game you got the lead that first down now tells me now it's time to start running the football run the clock get out of here with the DB smart move to keep it on the ground not a whole lot of room there three yards maybe second and seven you know it's so important for offens is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down got three on first down it's second and seven the give to the tailb and he's able to bounce off one tackle but still not a whole lot of running room this defense will try to force a fourth down on Third and short from the [Applause] 45 and the Cardinals get enough to move the chain that's good for well they needed two yards to get that first down that's exactly what they got great job of execution no secret about it just got to be physical get a hat on a hat low man wins all the cliches to get that third down in short the Cardinals will have it first and 10 running back searching for a hole good execution they move the sticks and they've got it at the 33 that is just demoralizing if you're on defense right you're down in the game it's the fourth quarter you know you need to get a stop and you know they're going to run the ball but you can't do anything about it all the way down at the 33 yd line it's first and 10 here's the handoff makes one man miss and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down and there's nothing more frustrating than when you get late in the game and you know they're running the football and you don't stop them it's been that kind of day for this defense they haven't played well they're going to have to go to the well they're going to have to figure some things out practice this week I can promise you will not be a lot of fun with these coaches to the ground with the back and he's almost to that first down marker there saying he's a a little bit short they might want to bring out the sticks and measure but it looks as if he'll be just short of the
