Tonight, local community groups are stepping up their efforts after a teenager was killed at a bus stop, Tuesday morning in Newport News. As that neighborhood grieves. Miles Hood spoke with the youth intervention group. Catch more kids about solutions. The community in Newport News here is still grieving after a teenager was shot, waiting for a school bus on Tuesday morning. Today, one local anti violence group is increasing their efforts to prevent such violent incidents from happening again. One day after Newport News, authorities say a 15 year old boy was killed waiting at a bus stop. Residents are coping and community groups are stepping in to help them heal. It's heartbreaking but it happens and, and, and the reality is it's gonna happen again. Troy Kore is the director of Programs for Catch More Kids. The intervention group specializes in outreach programs which focuses on conflict resolution and coping with trauma uh community engagement, mentorship, a whole host of things, triple P parents and uh healing with hip hop with the most recent shooting claiming the life of a teenager catch more and his team are honing in on their mission to provide hope to the community before it's too late. We wanna catch more kids in the streets, catch more kids in the prison, catch more kids than, than the gangs. Troy says every death, especially if a young person is like a gut punch and he promises his group won't let up in their mission. And every time we lose when we pose to get outraged because we're doing so good and it's never good to have one, you know, but the fight is, uh, you know, to try to alleviate it, period. But it started with preventative measures in Newport news. Miles heard 13 news. Now, police haven't named any suspects or details of what may have led to that deadly shooting of the teen.
