To Louisiana. Now, Francine has weakened to a tropical storm but not before it unleashed flooding rainfall and strong winds in and around New Orleans. And this morning it's now headed to Mississippi, but Francine made landfall as a category two hurricane and now as a is coming up, we're getting a first look at the destruction. It left behind Jason Allen with CBS News is joining us live from New Orleans this morning. And Jason as uh re you just mentioned, this was a violent category two hurricane. What was that like after the storm made landfall there? You know, re and step. Every storm is a little bit different, right? What you experience during Barrel or we experienced during Harvey a few years ago with intense rains. Everyone kind of has its, uh, its, its quirks this one. We, we rode out in downtown New Orleans and so thankfully New Orleans kind of just got the edge, didn't even get the, the intense outer eye wall winds from the storm, but it's still enough to get that hum in the air as the wind comes around the buildings and through the power lines, it was still enough to have power flashes throughout the city. It was still enough to where you couldn't see down the street for a block at times because the rain was so intense and that did lead to some pretty significant flooding and some of the remnants of it you can still see back in the neighborhood behind me. We're just to the north of downtown New Orleans this morning. You know, Jason, as we said, so much of the storm happened overnight. So we're getting our first real look at the damage this morning. What are you seeing so far on the ground? So most of the impact that we have seen this morning is, is well, first power outages and you'll notice that there is some power in this neighborhood, but big swaths of the city do not have power this morning. Flooding is also significant. So it's draining away fast. About an hour ago. We would not have been able to drive down this street, but there were people who are in these neighborhoods who they had sandbags, they made preparations, they had pumps, they worked throughout the night and some water still got into their homes. We're about three or four blocks from the canal. So flooding was significant. I think that that is probably going to be some of the most damage that you see in these areas that are away from the immediate coast down the immediate coast where the storm came ashore. That's where we'll probably see some of the wind and structural damage. But again, it's not going to be until the sun comes up in a little bit that we start to get an idea of just how significant that was. All right, Jason. Uh, hopefully they can get that power restored quickly now that the storm is in Mississippi. Thank you for joining us. Jason live for us in New Orleans. Thank you.
