and here we go once again hoe Roseman just continues to do it another high potential former third round pick from just a couple of years ago actually I believe last off season's draft 2023 was drafted in the third round out of Alabama Byron young is now on his way to the Philadelphia Eagles as he was claimed by hoe Roseman in Philadelphia now what I wanted to do was actually break down his film from the last couple of games during the preseason and show you exactly what the Eagles are getting in Byron young and why I think this could end up being massive win for hoe Roseman in this front office who just continue to find ways to add Talent um and this is a guy who a couple of weeks ago right Byron young there was a lot of talk in Las Vegas about oh he's about to break out he's about to have a big year he's starting to look good in Camp just a couple of weeks later he is released and now over in Philadelphia let's break down this film before we jump in though comment down below a content with that being said dive into who Byron young is and what he adds all right so here we go first play Let's kind of break down Byron young and actually what we do here is kind of show you the play and then we'll come back and break down what we saw so let's uh do exactly that oh right on the interior of the defensive line here going to have a really good pass rush move gets right by the guard gets a hand on the quarterback eventually brings him down for the sack right so obviously I I do want to say say that being a former third round pick we know that Talent was never the issue with Byron young however you know Vegas has a lot of guys they truly like we also know they brought in a guy like Christian Wilkins the probably the best free agent on the market on the here of the defensive line he is now here which kind of made Byron young a little bit more Expendable right they had a lot of guys they really like John Jenkins and Butler and so many guys right so they were like okay we can kind of get rid of this guy but now he allows hoe Roseman right to go out and just get him for nothing or at least gets that same contract that he was drafted with what a move here by Byron young not only does he get uh right off the line of scrimmage off the snap let's see here so boom nice little jump he's going to use that swim move as an interior lineman to get wow see that's that's beautiful these are the things we like to see on the interior and let's actually watch this from the other angle as well all right so here we go obviously same spot right here let's see how quickly he gets off this line so obviously we're in a kind of a shift a slide a full slide for the offensive line we're just going to go this way here so he's actually going to come up against the tackle right usually when you see these type of plays here the running back will come out and block The Edge rusher 76 or the Titan will be on block and release um but on this play specifically right we're going to shift over full slide for this offensive line Aon young just absolutely demoralizes him throws him right to the side I I feel like this guy kind of gave up here that's exactly what they do here right send the running back on a protection send the tight end on a block and release Byron young good job getting his hands on him one But continuing to work afterwards right we see a lot of guys once they get their initial hand onto the quarterback they kind of give up because they think they lost out on the potential sack boom gets his arm there but never gives up as well High motor man I really like Byron young I don't know why the Raiders got rid of him but shout out to the Eagles all right here's a good play by Byron young we're going to see him right here in this uh three four type of Defense where you got two edges you got three defensive linemen and then two inside linebackers now this is a play that reminds me a lot of what the Eagles like to do obviously with Bryce huff and Josh wet coming off the edge also have Jaylen Carter and Jordan Davis up the middle or um yeah up the middle on the defensive line I think Byron young is a guy who can actually exploit different matchups especially when he is a defensive end instead of a nose or a defensive tackle um this is a play I liked by him as well right is able to block shed disengage at the last second for a nice little run stop here so first thing we're going to notice is this little motion here by the tight end or the fullback whatever you want to call him we also are going to notice that Byron young does a good job keeping his eyes on the back field understanding where they want to go with this football thought that was another uh part of this his game that I really like boom understanding Okay saw the pitch if you saw there for a split second he's going to be able to look into the back field boom sees it boom understands what's going on able to keep his eye on the running back and then boom disengage come off for a nice little run stop again right you talk about Jordan Davis you talking about Jaylen Carter this is a perfect fit right you need more depth behind those guys and even so right behind Milton Williams who I think is uh probably going to be true position more of a defensive end in this 34 defense uh with hoe Roseman in the Philadelphia Eagles right you also have mororo Joo as well the former seventh round pick but now you're getting a third round pick in that same draft in Byron young and I really do think it's such a steal to just claim him off the waivers and low position on the other side right interior defensive line does a good job right block shedding last second getting a nice little stop here on the running back again right I I can't sit here and show you all of his C crazy highlights because once again guys he didn't really play too much in 2023 only played in six games tackling or or having four tackles in totality but here's another one right he's able just to engage in a block watch what the uh they're trying to go with the football here he's actually getting double teams right now puts that head down tries to drive him back block sheds and then gets in there uh for we stop with a couple of other guys as well honestly I don't think this is a bad pickup at all whenever you can get a former third round pick of just a year ago right we think about the potential and that is what matters the most you're not asking him to be a day one starter I don't think he's ready to be a day one starter right but what you're asking him to do is come in here learn behind Milton Williams Behind Jordan Davis behind Jaylen Carter behind Brandon Graham and a bunch of these other veterans that have been here for so long and develop right you're young right no no pun in tenant but what 23 24 years old just starting to get into the swing of things right once he gets acclimated to the Philadelphia Eagles Playbook I think you'll start to see him play in a couple of different areas we'll see how he does in practice over the next week but um like I said whenever you can get a third round pick off the waiver wire from just last season right it's one thing if it's a third round pick from three four five years ago but a little over a year ago he was just getting through his first training camp I'm telling you hoe Roseman knows what he's doing couple weeks from now you're going to be like oh this is this is the guy we got yeah Byron young I'm telling you right now he played I believe one preseason game maybe this year and at a sack I mean
