Upper Iowa Football Recap vs Concordia St. Paul

I felt good for the guys we've been putting a lot of work into this and it's tough when you don't see success right away um and these guys have just stuck in there and continue to play so I'm really just happy with how they responded and really I'm happy with how they responded after something bad went happened right after the half like we got a three and out and then we got the uh a ball back but we went backwards and threw a pick and the defense in a bad spot and all of a sudden it's a one-score game again after we were up two scores at a half so but they never wavered and played really well so I was pretty pretty happy with them you know they were real consistent I I was happy with the offense um the big thing that we talk about is make sure we don't take a whole lot of negative plays and we didn't we didn't have a lot of penalties we didn't have a lot of sacks we had a couple here or there but they just continued to move the ball forward and I'll tell you what we got a young offensive line and those kids they move the ball and gosh dang I mean I don't between with RJ Wells and and Jaden Mitchell I mean that's that's a one-two punch at running back that most division twos do not have so we're very fortunate there got some good production out of uh you know Eddie Burgess um Daryl played a lot better this week than he had last week so um and the receivers they they double covered Monte tomorrow most of the day but when they were asked to make plays they made them so just something that we didn't do in the first week that that that we did this this week so I was extremely happy how they showed up it's a group effort with defense that's always one of those cliches where if you're if you don't the pass game's not going well it's only the DBS if the Run game you're giving up Run game it's only the dline and you know the K they the D line kept the quarterback under duress the whole time so we're we're chasing him down and honestly a lot of those were we're we're more or less we're opportunistic on it rather than just flat out great plays but what I can say is the guys were always in the right spot which the quarterbacks couldn't trigger the ball when they wanted to and then defensive lines getting some pressure and then gosh they it feels good to score on D but obviously you know zakarias and and and Ben kamaro they they played lights out now again all the other guys played real well our safeties played real well didn't let anybody behind them so overall it's a heck of a team effort with that we were Relentless uh the whole time uh they couldn't get anything on us until probably the second half um yeah we just flying to the ball the entire time making plays causing turnovers and that's all you could ever asked for we were in uh it was sling um I saw the quarterback eyeing up the he kept he kept looking over to the right and usually when a quarterback does that he wants to throw it that way and um the running back slipped out and we were in a flat coverage and when um when the running back just came out I just took it and he he threw it to me and the rest was history the defense we played really great we went out and did our job we executed I ain't going to lie shout out to the D line they played hard you know what I'm saying they got to the quarterback and they was getting back there and then the secondary I ain't going to lie we was sitting bad sitting and I'm really proud of us for doing that on the pick six the previous play I seen him uh try to uh throw it out to him and look over there so we ran the same play again and I saw it coming so once I seen him look over there and he was under again so thanks to the D line he threw it under pressure and I just went grabbed it and nobody was going to tackle me when I seen all green it looks right nothing there now directs traffic down the far sideline picks off the left one to the near side fors takes it steps up in the pocket wrapped up around the waist it's picked off Off to the Races here you go 50 30 20 10 five as the Cordia St Paul golden beer is trying he's going to be hit from behind gets away from a tackle then he's going to be swallowed up gobbled up by the peacock
